CHARLESTON - Lincoln J. "Linc" Woodyard, age 77, of Charleston, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2000 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston.
Linc was born February 20, 1923 in Seven Hickory Township in Coles County, Illinois, the fifth child of A. Lincoln and Iva Hanna Woodyard.
He married Florence Bailey on March 24, 1944 in Hunt City, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife Florence and daughter Bonita of Charleston and brothers Charles of Mattoon, James and wife Martha of Charleston, sisters Mabel of Phoenix and Ruth Young and husband Orville of Washington, Illinois, a sister-in-law Virginia of Charleston, brothers, Thomas of Riverton, Wyoming and George and his wife Eleanor of Lawrence, Kansas.
Preceding him in death were a brother Harold of Charleston and a sister Dorothy of Sonoma, California. He also leaves three godchildren, Kristen, Elizabeth and Jennifer Forsyth.
Mr. Woodyard earned a Certified Public Accounting certificate from the University of Illinois in 1959 and was the first to establish an office in Charleston for public practice. He retired in 1989 from the firm of Larsson, Woodyard and Henson and maintains offices in Paris and Casey, Illinois. He is a forty-year member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. In 1985, he helped establish the Charleston Area Charitable Foundation and served as its Secretary and Treasurer since its founding.
Community service included terms as a member of the board of directors of the Charleston Community Memorial Hospital, Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce and Charleston Cemeteries, Inc.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, a former member of the Charleston Kiwanis Club and a forty-two year member of the Charleston Elks Lodge.
His hobbies included gardening, flowers and woodworking.

Estell Armer
BETHANY - Estell L. Armer, 91, of Bethany died at 5:20 a.m., Saturday (Aug. 19, 2000) at the Eastview Terrace, Sullivan.
Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Bethany.
She was born Sept. 8, 1908, in Tompkinsville, Ky., the daughter of Sidney S. and Martha Alice Browning Bean.
She married Bedford C. Armer in 1926. He died in 1990.
Surviving are seven sons, Ronald Armer of Shelbyville, Andrew Armer of Flora, Sidney Armer of Toledo, Ohio, James and Benton Armer of Sullivan, Tom Armer of Mount Zion, and John Armer of Bethany; four daughters, Ilean Eyler of Las Vegas, Nev., Jenette Throneburg of Bethany, Sara Dolan of El Paso and Mary Dunn of Travies, Fla.; six sisters, Ova Wright of Decatur, Haley Peterson of Argenta, Dossie King of Oakley, Ruth Grace of Boiling Springs, Tenn., Marie Rhoton of Tompkinsville, Ky., and Allie Rehives of Mesa, Ariz.; 44 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, five brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Armer was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Bethany.
Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Alberta Bauer
Alberta Marie Bauer, age 74, of Mattoon, passed away at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2000, at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Burial will be in the Dodge Grove Cemetery.
Alberta was born in Coulterville on January 9, 1926, a daughter of Alvin and Bertha Birchler Shaw.
She married Robert M. Bauer on September 26, 1947.
Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bob" Bauer of Mattoon; three brothers, Lynn Shaw of Coulterville, Wayne Shaw of Paris and Wesley Birchler of Mountain Home, Arkansas; three sisters, June Smith and husband Fred of Hoopston, Betty Varner of Alton and Agnes Anderson and husband Helmer of Chico, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, David Bauer, two brothers, Stanley Shaw and Kenneth Shaw, and her stepmother, Elizabeth Shaw.
Mrs. Bauer was formerly an accountant for Stilgebauer in Mattoon.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Women's Auxiliary at the Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Mildred Kenney
SULLIVAN - Mildred Kenney, 87, of Sullivan died at 1:04 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 19, 2000) at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home, Mattoon.
A private graveside funeral was held at Greenhill Cemetery with John Hagerman officiating. There will be no visitation. The Reed Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born June 20, 1913, at Sullivan, the daughter of George and Ruby Vandeveer Kenney.
Surviving are one brother, Marvin "Toad" Kenney of Sullivan; and two sisters, Mable Whitchurch of Rockford and Alice Hagerman of Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Miss Kenney was a stitcher at Brown Shoe Co. in Mattoon and Sullivan, attended Sullivan First Church of God and was a member of the Rhoda Rebekah Lodge in Mattoon.

Verl Miller
SHELBYVILLE - Verl C. Miller, 82, of Shelbyville died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 19, 2000) at Shelby Memorial Hospital, Shelbyville.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.
He was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Shelby County, the son of Lawrence Melville and Fay Compton Miller.
He married Letha Isley in 1948. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Jim Miller of Decatur, Rick Miller of Strasburg and Steve Miller of Shelbyville; two daughters, Margaret Hicks of Naperville and Linda Starwalt of Charleston; three brothers, Dean Miller of Chicago, Virgil Miller of Mode and Harold Miller of Shelbyville; one sister, Virginia Walker of Indianapolis, Ind.; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Mr. Miller was a lifelong farmer and operated Miller Repair Shop at his farm.
He was a 50-year member of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church and was a member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau, the chartering committee of Lake Land College and the Clarksburg Township Board.
He was an Army Air Force veteran of WW II.

Lorraine Poe
EFFINGHAM - Lorraine Marie Poe, 84, of Effingham formerly of Mattoon, died at 12:15 p.m. Friday (Aug. 18, 2000) at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Strasburg, the daughter of Charles Lewis and Ella Austin Wade.
She married Roscoe A. Poe in 1936. He died in 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bobbie (Linda) Shaw of Effingham and Mrs. Clarence (Sandra) Carney of Thebes; one sister, Opal VonBehrens of Mattoon; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Poe was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Mattoon.
Dorothy Shiver
MATTOON - Dorothy R. Shriver, 90, of Mattoon died at 9 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 19, 2000) at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home.
Burial will be at Dodge Grove Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 23, 1909, at Caneyville, Ky., the daughter of S. Thomas and Mabel Boone Young.
She married Glenn Shriver in 1927. He died in 1996.
Surviving are one sister, Wanda Godden of Mattoon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one son, two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Shriver was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church, Mattoon, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a past worthy matron of the Bloomington Order of the Eastern Star and was currently a member of the Neoga Order of the Eastern Star.
Genevieve Van Scyoc
MATTOON - Genevieve H. "Genny" Van Scyoc, 70, of Mattoon died at 2:50 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 19, 2000) at her home.
Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 27, 1929, in Mattoon, the daughter of Ernest and Grace Ellen Decker Idleman.
She married Harold C. Van Scyoc in 1952. He died in 1969.
Surviving are two daughters, Theresa Swearingen of Wichita, Kan., and Phyllis Joy Field of Okeechobee, Fla.; two sisters, Mildred Hart of Los Lunas, N.M., and Evelyn Asbury of Paris; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Van Scyoc was retired from Bergner's Department Store and was a member of the First Apostolic Church, Mattoon.

Helen Wierman
ARCOLA - Helen Marie Wierman, 86, of Arcola died at 9:25 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 19, 2000) at the Villa Healthcare Center East, Sherman.
Burial will be in Mackville Cemetery, Atwood..
She was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Atwood, the daughter of Charles L. and Arlene Mae Chambers Reisner.
She married Jerald H. Wierman in 1936. He died in 1995.
Surviving are one son, Ronald Wierman of Davie, Fla.; one daughter, Ann Rowley of Rochester; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother.
Mrs. Wierman was a homemaker and a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church.
