WEST YORK - Florence E. Clatfelter, 82, of rural West York, died at 9:05 a.m. Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home in Robinson.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mount Olive Baptist Church, rural West York, with Pastor Jeff Vaught officiating.
Burial is in Plymouth Cemetery, west of West York. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union and Sunday one hour prior to the service.
She was born Feb. 7, 1918, in Marshall Township, the daughter of George Frederick and Bessie Alice Douglas Davidson.
She married Harold E. Clatfelter in 1935; he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Fred Clatfelter and Hal Clatfelter, both of rural West York; two daughters, Jonel Webster of rural West York and Zelpha Clatfelter of Danville; one sister, Nellie Mae Hilbert of rural West Union; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, two brothers, three sisters and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Clatfelter was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church for 52 years.

Mary Craig
CHARLESTON - Mary Ruth Craig, 75, of Charleston, died at 3:50 p.m. Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at Hilltop Nursing Home in Charleston.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Effingham, with David Birch officiating.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Harper-Swickard funeral home.
She was born May 6, 1925, in Charleston, the daughter of William B. and Winnie Ashley Driskell.
Surviving are one daughter, Ruth Ann Craig of Charleston; one sister, Barbara Peppo of Westfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
Ms. Craig retired from General Electric in 1970 after 25 years of service.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Charleston.

Gertrude Herendeen
BETHANY - Emma Gertrude Herendeen died September 15, 2000, at Hilltop Convalescent Home in Charleston, Illinois.
She was born February 27, 1917, in Kirksville, Illinois, to Robert and Sylbia (Poland) White.
She is survived by 2 sons, Doug (Kathy) Herendeen of DeKalb, Illinois. Robert Lloyd Herendeen of Granite City, Illinois, 3 daughters Drusille Monninger of Prescott, Arizona. Roberta (Clarence) Honahor of North Middletown, Kentucky, Sandra Diane Hinderliter of Danville, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Gloria Herendeen Pugh; 1 brother Lynn (Genevieve) White of Sullivan, Illinois, two nephews, 1 niece, 3 great nieces, 3 great nephews, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert Lloyd Herendeen, 1 son, Bradley Herendeen.
Also 1 brother, Jack White and 1 sister, Roberta Foster and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held in Bethany, Illinois at the McMullin Funeral home. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 on Sunday, September , 17th from 5 to 8.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18th at 1:00 p.m. Services will be conducted by Captain Fred Wakefield of the Salvation Army, Mattoon, Illinois.
Interment will be at the Bethany Cemetery.

Theron McElravy
TOLEDO - Theron D. McElravy, 59, of Toledo, died at 12:27 a.m. Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Barkley Funeral Home in Toledo. Burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was born July 24, 1941, in Mattoon, the son of Vernon Dale and Maxine Redfern McElravy.
Surviving are one son, Aaron McElravy of Toledo; one daughter, Melissa Hardin of Mattoon; one brother, Michael McElravy of Effingham; and one grandchild.
He was preceded by his parents and one son.
Mr. McElravy was a retired auto mechanic.
Elsie McFetridge
Elsie Janette McFetridge, age 72, of Mattoon, passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2000, at the Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Parish Center with Father Herman J. Niebrugge officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in the Ivesdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until time of service Monday at the Parish Center. The Schilling Funeral Home in Mattoon is in charge of the arrangements.
Elsie was born in Ivesdale on January 8, 1928, a daughter of William and Faye Turner Whalen.
She married Chuck Wolfe in 1948. He preceded her in death. She married Jack McFetridge in 1969. He survives.
Survivors include her husband Jack McFetridge of Mattoon; two daughters, Peggy Mueller and special friend Jim Johnson of Springfield and Terry Lafenhagen and husband John of Urbana; one stepdaughter, Jane McFetridge of the San Francisco Bay area, California; one brother, Bill Whalen and wife Shirley of Champaign; one sister, Betty Hart and husband Hank of Champaign; one granddaughter, Tammy Johnson of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. McFetridge retired from Goldblatts in Champaign where she worked in sales and management. Elsie also worked with her husband as a memorial consultant.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.

Jesse Miller
BROWNSTOWN - Jessie E. Miller, 61, of Brownstown, died at 9:05 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 13, 2000) at Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Brownstown United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation was Friday.
He was born June 10, 1939, in Decatur, the son of Theodore and Iva Grandfield Miller.
He married Marilyn Perkins in 1963; she died in 1968.
He married Betty Brasel in 1969; she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Ted Miller of Vandalia; one daughter, Julia Miller of Charleston; one brother, Delbert of Brownstown; and a special friend, Donna Coonce.
Mr. Miller worked at Latch Custom in Stewardson and was currently the Brownstown Village president. He also was a former member of the Fayette County Board, a former Fayette County chief deputy sheriff and deputy coroner. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kinmundy, Order of Eastern Star - Melrose 243, Masonic Lodge 769 in St. Elmo, Ainad Temple of East St. Louis and Vandalia York Rite Bodies.
Memorials may be made to the Brownstown Fire Department First Responders or the Veterans Memorial at Brownstown Park.
Vera Phillips
GREENUP - Vera Delores Phillips, 80, of Greenup died at 12:39 p.m. Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Greenup Cemetery. No visitation is planned. The Barkley Funeral Home in Greenup is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born March 26, 1920, in Greenup, the daughter of Scott and Vernie Snearly Sutherland.
She married Lee Phillips in 1939; he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ellen Raymer of Toledo and Linda Rensing of Fairview Heights; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church, rural Greenup.
George Sims
YUKON, Okla. - George H. Sims, 93, of Yukon, Okla., formerly of Charleston, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 14, 2000) at Ranchwood Nursing Center.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Caudill-King Funeral Home.
Dorothy Walker
ARCOLA - Dorothy Irene Walker, 83, of Arcola, died at 12:05 a.m. Friday (Sept. 15, 2000) at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Arcola United Methodist Church, with Minister Margaret Misal officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral at the church.
Mrs. Walker was born Aug. 3, 1917, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Burton and Kathryn E. (Zimmer) Becker.
She married Franklin Walker Jr. in 1943; he died in 1994.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Mike (Cathy) Schackel of Indianapolis, Mrs. Don (Carol) Portugal of Mattoon, Mrs. Dale (Bonnie) Yoder of Arcola and Mrs. Rick (Becky) Reed of Charleston; one brother, Neal Becker of Riverside, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother.
Mrs. Walker retired in 1982 from the Arcola Record-Herald.
She was a memeber of the Arcola United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
