HUTSONVILLE - Patricia Ann Daugherty, 65, of Hutsonville, died at 11:03 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 7, 2000) at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson.Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union. There will be no services. Private family interment of the ashes will be at a later date.
She was born Oct. 29, 1934, in Hutsonville, the daughter of Milo and Alma Cummins Crouch.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene Daugherty; two daughters, Peggy Mills of Dublin, Ohio, and Barbara Johnson of Tomah, Wis.; three sons, Tom Daugherty of Hutsonville, John Daugherty of Martinsville and Steve Daugherty of West Union; one brother, Ernest Crouch of Hutsonville; two sisters, Phyllis Franklin of Hutsonville and Dorothy Schmidt of Fresno, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Mrs. Daugherty was an area in-home caregiver and a former employee at the Lexel Corporation in Hutsonville and TRW in Marshall.
She was a member of the Tree of Life Church in Hutsonville and the Crawford County Historical Society.
Cloyce Hutson
GREENUP - Cloyce Eugene Hudson, 78, of Greenup, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday (Sept. 11, 2000) at Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup.
Alphonse Niebrugge
EFFINGHAM - Alphonse H. Niebrugge, 78, of Effingham, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 10, 2000) at his residence.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. today at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Effingham. Burial will be in Green Creek Church Cemetery in Green Creek. The Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Effingham, the son of Anthony and Anna Aulenbrock Niebrugge.
He married Margaret Kalina in 1959; she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gregory A. and Christopher L. Niebrugge, both of Effingham; three daughters, Deborah J. Mahon and Kathrine M. Clausius, both of Effingham, and Rebecca M. Croft of Edwardsville; four brothers, Paul, Lawrence and Anthony Niebrugge, all of Effingham, and Herman Niebrugge of Mattoon; four sisters, Martha Muehlenfeld of Niceville, Fla., Johanna Spracklin of Shelbyville, Agatha Niebrugge of Donaldson, Ind., and Dolores Stockman of Effingham; 11 grandchildren; and one step-grandson.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Mr. Niebrugge was a carpenter and owned Niebrugge Lumber Co. for 39 years.
He was a member of St. Anthony Church of Effingham, Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion of Dieterich and Dieterich Ruritans.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Clifford Olson
SULLIVAN - Clifford H. Olson, 75, of Sullivan, died Saturday (Sept. 9, 2000) at the Danville Veterans Hospital.
A graveside service with military rites will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Rapid City, S.D. The Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan, is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Dec. 16, 1924, in Stewartville, N.D., the son of John G. and Caroline Rue Olson.
He married Lorna Johnson in 1955. He later married Helen McDonald Harrington in 1971; she died in 1984.
Surviving are one daughter, Dawn Genzlinger of Seminole, Fla.; one stepson, Scott VanBuren of Tracey, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Kathy Mitchell of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Jeanne Biggs of Moweaqua; two brothers, Orville Olson of Texarkana, Texas, and Leon Olson of Jamestown, N.D.; three sisters, Crystal Lehrke of West Virginia, and Lila Williams and Hazel Staloch, both of Jamestown, N.D.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son and three brothers.
Mr. Olson was retired from the Navy. He had served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
He was affiliated with the Lutheran Church, was a member of the Fleet Reserve, Sullivan American Legion Post 68, Sullivan VFW, and the American Legion and VFW Posts in Jamestown, N.D.
Memorials may be made to the Sullivan First Baptist Church.
Gaye Lynn Snyder
Gaye Lynn Snyder, 46, went to be with her Lord September 10, 2000.
Gaye was born on September 20, 1953 in Herrin, Illinois to Esther and Raymond B. Engler.
She has an older brother, Dennis Ray Engler his wife Virginia and family, who live in San Diego, California; and a special uncle, Joe Romeo, and family, also of California.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Gaye came to Charleston and Eastern Illinois University in 1971.
In her too short 29 years in Charleston, Gaye made many dear friends who will have a void in their lives until they can be with her again.
Gaye received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Eastern Illinois University, and graduated in 1975.
Rather than chase fortune and fame, she made a conscious decision to stay in the community she loved with the people she loved.
Gaye was a bright, energetic and vibrant young woman who always cared about and made time for others. All those she touched were changed by that experience. Those who came to know and love her will miss her deeply.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
Christopher Veach
CHARLESTON - Christopher Glenn Veach, infant son of Ricky Glenn and Jennifer Kapraun Veach of Charleston, died at 12:40 a.m. Friday (Sept. 8, 2000) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
A private graveside service was conducted at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Flanagan, with Father Robert Gilles officiating.
The Froelich Memorial Home in Flanagan was in charge of the arrangements.
Surviving are his parents of Charleston; grandparents, Hal and Peg Kapraun of Flanagan, Larry Veach of Charleston and Karen Hurst of Effingham; and great-grandparents, John and Joan Kapraun of Flanagan, and Glenn and Maxine Veach of Charleston.
William H. VanScyoc
NEOGA, IL - William H. VanScyoc, 71, of rural Neoga, formerly of Mattoon, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday (Sept. 11, 2000) at his residence.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, with the Rev. Jack Turner and the Rev. Virgil Baker officiating.
Burial with military rites, conducted by VFW Post 4598 of Greenup, will be in Long Point Cemetery, Neoga. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 12, 1928, in Toledo, the son of Ben and Mary (Jackson) VanScyoc.
He married Ella L. Fuller on Oct. 27, 1949 in Toledo.
Survivors include his wife, Ella L. VanScyoc of rural Neoga; sons, Benjamin VanScyoc and wife Glenda of Decatur, IL, William N. VanScyoc and wife Gail of Fayetteville, No. Carolina, Danny VanScyoc of Batesville, Miss.; daughters, Mrs. John (Linda) Croy of Toledo, IL, Mrs. Dennis (Mary) Bahrns of Mattoon and Mrs. Roger (Vicky) Scruggs of Sardis, Miss.; brothers, Donald VanScyoc of Neoga, IL and Charles "Joe" VanScyoc of Toledo; sisters, Mrs. Freida Bueker of Toledo, IL, Mrs. Miles (Elberta) Williams Sr. of Crown Point, Ind., Mrs. Maxine Misner of Battle Creek, Mich., Mrs. Laverne (Marie) Chronic of Mattoon, IL, and Mrs. Lorene Purcell of Montrose, IL; 24 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.
Mr. VanScyoc was a retired custodian for the Mattoon School District, Mattoon, IL.
He was a United States Army veteran of WW II and a member of the Eagles Club of Mattoon.

Daniel Wagoner
NEWMAN - Daniel F. Wagoner, 80, of Newman, died at 10:25 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 10, 2000) at Boxwood Healthcare Center in Newman.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday with a Masonic service at 1:45 p.m. at the Joines Funeral Home in Newman with the Rev. Carl Fox officiating.
Burial with a service by the Newman American Legion Service will be in the Newman Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
He was born Dec. 8, 1919, in Indian Springs, Ind., the son of Everett and Mattie Chandler Wagoner.
He married Genevieve Myers in 1947; she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Daniel and Richard Wagoner, both of Newman, and Robert Wagoner of Charleston; two daughters, Phyllis McKaufsky of Rantoul and Clara Jane Stephenson of Petersburg; four brothers, Bill Hardwick and Clifford Hardwick, both of Shoals, Ind., Robert Hardwick of Florida and Tyra Hardwick of Bedford, Ind.; five sisters, Annis Skinner of Broadlands, Mildred North of Arizona, Nellie May Wade of Williams, Ind., Sue Hammersley of Springville, Ind., and Brenda Terrill of Bedford, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Mr. Wagoner was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Newman Masonic Lodge 369 and Newman American Legion.
John Bates
BLOOMINGTON - John H. Bates, 78, of Bloomington, formerly of Farmer City, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 9, 2000) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in Farmer City with the Rev. Don Crittenden officiating.
Burial will be in DeLand Cemetery in DeLand. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Santa Anna Township, the son of Chancy and Mildred Grubbs Bates.
He married Amy Marie Yoder in 1956. She died in 1999. He later married Lavonna Ruff in June 2000. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Phebus of Urbana and Marlene Gossard of Mattoon; one sister, Ruby Irrer of Grand Rapids, Mich.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters.
Mr. Bates was a retired farmer and member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association.
