SHELBYVILLE - Larry Joe Stephens, 59, of Shelbyville died at 3 a.m. Friday (Sept. 8, 2000) at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Howe & Yockey Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday and will take place one hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Shelbyville, the son of Ralph R. and Bonnie Marie West Stephens Sr.
He married Susan Gaddis Bryson in 1988. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Ashley Stephens of Shelbyville and Sara Thomason of Mattoon; three brothers, Clem Stephens, Junior Stephens and Darrell Stephens, all of Shelbyville; and one granddaughter.
Mr. Stephens was a lineman for Shelby Electric Co-Op for 33 years and a veteran of the Vietnam war.
He was a member of the Shelby Christian Church, Jackson Masonic Lodge, and American Veterans.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Shelby Christian Church or American Cancer Society.

SULLIVANJane Anne Wiley, 48, of Sullivan, died at 5:35 pm on Friday, September 8, 2000 at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 6 pm Tuesday at the Allenville Christian Church, Allenville, with visitation one hour prior to services.
Memorials are suggested to the Lincoln Land Hospice or the Lovington Ambulance Service.

Ms Wiley was born March 15, 1952 in Mattoon, IL, the daughter of Russell and Louise Brown Wiley.
She was a schoolteacher and inspirational speaker.
Surviving are her parents, of Mattoon, daughters, Christy Waller and husband Jonathan of Sullivan, Karol Snap and husband Jason of Franklin, TN; brother, Marvin Wiley of Sullivan; sister, Judy Erlandson of Elberton, GA, and a granddaughter, Ally Gott of Sullivan.

LOVINGTON - John E. Edrington, 76, of Lovington, died at 4:35 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000 at his home.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Lovington Baptist Church, with visitation after 1 p.m.
Burial with military rites will be in Keller Cemetery, Lovington.

Mr. Edrington was born July 17, 1924, in Fredericktown, Mo., the son of Raymond and Flora Hartle Edrington.
He was retired from Pittsburg Plate Glass Industries, a member of the Lovington Baptist Church and a World War Two Army veteran.
He married Dorothy J. Stacy June 8, 1949, in Pocahontas, Arkansas.
She survives along with sons, Phil Edrington and wife Jeanene of Weldon, David Lee Edrington and wife Melinda Ann of Arcola; daughter Johnetta Willis of Lovington; grandchildren include Christine Black of Sullivan, Patrick and Christopher Edrington of Weldon, Monica Ann and Taylor Renee Edrington of Arcola; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Black of Sullivan, two sisters, Orlas Barker and Beulah "Boot's" McKinney both of Fredericktown, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

EFFINGHAM - Foster L. Soliday, 79, of Effingham, formerly of Neoga, died at 12:05 a.m. Friday (Sept. 8, 2000) at his residence.
A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the Neoga Memorial Cemetery in Neoga with the Rev. Richard Coen officiating. The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home, Neoga, is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Aug. 8, 1921, in Shelby County, the son of Quimby D. and Bertha Watson Soliday.
He married Helen M. Scoles in 1941; she died in 1979. He married Agnes P. Rawlings Gephart in 1984; she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Donald L. and Larry Soliday, both of Urbana; three stepsons, Roger W. Gephart of Littleton, Colo., Donnie D. Gephart of Dieterich and Alan G. Gephart of Brownstown; two stepdaughters, Joan Walker of Newton and Darla Otto of Wakefield, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and one step-great-grandchild.
Mr. Soliday worked at USI Chemical Co. in Tuscola.
He was a member of the Smyser Christian Church in Gays and the IOOF Lodge 347 of Neoga.

Margaret Stingel
CHARLESTON - Margaret M. Stingel, 78, of Charleston died at 6 a.m. Friday (Sept. 8, 2000) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Caudill-King Funeral Home.
He was born April 17, 1922, in Swissvale, Pa., the daughter of John and Margaret Manning.
She married Robert R. Stingel in 1947; he died in 1978.
Surviving are one son, William Stingel of Charleston; one daughter, Margaret "Margie" Morton of Louisville; one granddaughter who was raised by Mrs. Stingel, Michelle Stingel Lubarger of Charleston; and eight other grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers.
Mrs. Stingel was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Ladies of the Elks and Women of the Moose.
Mrs. Wilma A. Carrell
Mrs. Wilma A. Carrell, age 83, of Greenup, IL passed away at 12:05 p.m. - Monday, September 4, 2000 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services were held Thursday September, 7, 2000, at 2:30 p.m. at Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup, Illinois, with the Rev. Marvin Oakley officiating.
Burial was in the Harmony Cemetery, Greenup, Illinois.
Visitation was two hours prior to the funeral service at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup, Illinois.
Mrs. Carrell was born January 25, 1917, in Vevay Park, Illinois. The daughter of John and Angeline (Stark) Philippi.
She married Don Carrell June 24, 1957 in Shawneetown, Illinois.
Wilma was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #4598. She had been employed by Ettelbrick Shoe Factory for over 30 years.
Wilma is survived by her Husband, Don Carrell of Greenup, Illinois; one brother, Andrew A. Philippi of Casey, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and four sisters.
Kathryn Conley
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. - Kathryn Conley, 94, of Cookeville, Tenn., formerly of Flora, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 5, 2000) at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with Hyacinth Mazuchowski officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home.
She was born Oct. 25, 1905, in Clay County, the daughter of John Quinn and Catherine Hall.
She married Richard Conley in 1935; he died in 1982.
Surviving are two sons, John H. Conley of Charleston and Richard T. Conley of St. Louis; one daughter, Lora Kay Harvey of Cookeville, Tenn.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Conley was a member of the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Flora, St. Ann's Altar Society, the Clay County Retired Teachers Association and the Clay County Hospital Auxiliary.
