CHARLESTON - Harold B. Reynolds, 81, of Charleston, died at 2:40 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 14, 2000) at his residence.
The graveside funeral, with military rites conducted by the Charleston VFW, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Roselawn Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Arrangements handled by the Caudill-King Funeral Home.
He was born Dec. 4, 1918 in Charleston, the son of Benton and Ruth A. Boyd Reynolds.
He married the former Vi Kohl in 1977. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry Reynolds of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Terry Reynolds of Ashmore; one daughter, Debbie Simon of Pekin; and five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mr. Reynolds was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Charleston VFW and Moose. He was retired from the railroad and as a bookkeeper.
William Sedgwick
MATTOON - William P. Sedgwick, 81, of Mattoon, died at 6:20 p.m. Friday (Oct. 13, 2000) at his residence.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Barkley Funeral Home in Greenup with the Rev. Tim Pearce officiating.
Burial will be in Janesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 19, 1918 in Greenup, the son of Parker and Sylvia Greeson Sedgwick.
He married Eleanor Titus in 1939. She died in 1996.
Surviving are one son, Robert E. Sedgwick of Greenwood, Ind.; one daughter, Evonne Kaye Frazier of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Sedgwick was a retired locomotive engineer for the New York Central Railroad.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Humboldt, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and a World War II Army veteran.

SUSSEX, Wis. - Robert Montgomery Bartlett, 61, of Sussex, Wis., formerly of Mattoon, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday (Oct. 13, 2000) at his residence.

SULLIVAN - Thelma G. Carnine Graham, 81, of Sullivan, died at 7:20 a.m. Friday (Oct. 13, 2000) at her residence.

Lewis Stranz
FARMINGTON - Lewis "Duke" Stranz, 87, of Farmington, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 12, 2000) at the Farmington Center.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Farmington, with the Rev. David Lindemer and the Rev. Jim Reed officiating. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery, rural Mapleton.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born May 14, 1913, in Hollis Township, the son of Lewis and Laura Schleigh Stranz.
He married Laura T. Zessin in 1939; she died in 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Roger Stranz of Bartonville and Paul Stranz of Charleston; one daughter, Laura Ann Schmied of Hanna City; one sister, Ruth Diefendorf of Farmington; and nine grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Stranz was a retired farmer in the Farmington area. He also worked for Mid American Pipeline Terminal in rural Farmington. He was an army veteran of World War II, a member of the Farmington Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Post No. 140 of Farmington, VFW Post 1984 of Canton, Independent Order of Odd Fellow-Rebekah of Farmington and the Farmington Moose Lodge 1571.
Memorials may be made to the Farmington Presbyterian Church, the Fulton County Heart Association or the Farmington Rescue Truck Fund.
Margaret Brady
SULLIVAN - Margaret O'Neill Brady, 98, of Sullivan, formerly of Ocean City, N.J., died at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 11, 2000) in Eastview Terrace, Sullivan.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Greenhill Cemetery with Father John Sohm officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan, is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Sept. 1, 1902, in Philadelphia, the daughter of John and Margaret Sullivan Lynch.
She married Hugh Frances O'Neill; he preceded her in death. She then married Thomas Brady; he also preceded in death.
Surviving are one son, Hugh O'Neill of Sullivan, and three grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister and one grandchild.
Mrs. Brady was the office manager for the Kunkles Coal Co. in Philadelphia. She was a member of the St. Columcille Catholic Church, Sullivan.

John E. Davis Sr.
MATTOON - John E. Davis, Sr., age 80, of Mattoon, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2000 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2000, at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Father Herman Niebrugge officiating and the Rev. Russ Stark assisting.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
John E. Davis, Sr. was born March 31, 1920 at Marion, Illinois, a son of Arthur C. and Lera M. Arthur Davis.
He married Doris McGinnis August 29, 1942, at Gulfport, Mississippi, she survives.
He is survived by a son, John E. Davis, Jr. and his wife Connie of Charleston; a brother, Frank Davis and his wife Carol of Terre Haute, Indiana; a sister, Betty Harris and her husband Don of Shoreview, Minnesota as well as a brother-in-law, J. W. McGinnis of Mattoon; one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brother and one sister.
Mr. Davis was owner and operator of John Davis Implement in Mattoon and was a World War II veteran of the United States Army.

Kelsey Marie Phipps
MATTOON - A memorial service is planned Friday for Kelsey Marie Phipps, 48, who died in a plane crash Sunday, October 2, 2000, in California.
The service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 13, at the Presbyterian Church, 10 Charleston Ave., Mattoon.
Lunch will be served at Noon in the church.
Burial, immediately thereafter, will be at Shiloh Cemetery near Lerna, where Abraham Lincoln's father is buried and which was donated by John Gordon, Kelsey's great-great-grandfather.
Afterward, a gathering will be held in Kelsey's memory at John and Pauline's Phipps home at 100 Wabash Ave., Mattoon.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity would be appreciated.
Kelsey Phipps was born in 1951 in Mattoon. She moved to Scotts Valley in 1991. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1973 and received her Master's Degree from there in 1974. She was appointed a White House Fellow in Washington D.C., after a year with Dow Corning in Midland, Michigan. After working for Polaroid while her husband earned his MBA at Harvard, they took a trip around the world, followed by affiliations as an officer at Lotus in Boston, Borland, Back Web & Puma in Silicon Valley. She currently operated her own market consulting firm "Rapidity".
She is survived by Hal Selander, former husband and friend, and her sons, Derek Brandon, 13 and Kurt Bradley, 9; parents Major General & Mrs. John Phipps, of Mattoon; brother Charles Phipps and sister-in-law Gail Phipps; two nephews John and Nathan and one niece Christen Phipps all of Evergreen, Colorado.
Selander said he and his ex-wife still were good friends, and their children moved back-and-forth between their nearby homes. He told the newspaper Kelsey was interested in things from astrology to business to feng shui.
"Kelsey was full of life, one of the most intelligent women I've ever encountered," her friend Maria Callejas was quoted as saying. "She was the go-to person when you had to get something done.
"Beverly Capwell, another friend, said: "I think she took flying lessons when she was in college so she shared Serge's joy of flying and taking off like that. Her friend, Julie Martin, would say, 'Aren't you afraid of those little planes?' and she would always say, 'No. It's an adventure and this is what I want to do.' I don't think it ever crossed her mind that anything like this could ever happen.
"The San Jose Mercury News reported that pilot Herring, 51, told the tower in Monterey there was poor visibility as he began his descent to the Watsonville airport, and he was going to try to fly under the fog when the plane slammed into the mountain about four miles from San Juan Bautista.
An airport manager told the San Jose newspaper that Herring was in the process of becoming an instrument-rated pilot, but wasn't certified. The manager, Don French, said non-instrument rated pilots may have problems flying at night and in fog because of their reliance on sight and use of the ground as a reference.
Kenneth H. Williamson
Kenneth H. Williamson, 83, of Shelbyville, died at 6:29 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2000 in Shelby Memorial Hospital, Shelbyville.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with Rev. John Schmeling officiating.
Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville.

Mr. Williamson was born on January 29, 1917, in Windsor Township, the son of Charles and Mabel Chase Williamson.
He operated the Williamson Garage in Findlay for many years and also farmed.
He was an aviation enthusiast, holding pilot and aircraft and engine mechanics licenses and a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
He married Helen M. Dagen on October 28, 1939 in St. Charles, MO.
Surviving are his wife, Helen; two sons, Gary Williamson and wife Gloria of Ashmore and Rodney Williamson and wife Pat of Neoga; one sister, Beulah Donnel of Decatur; four grandsons, Brett Williamson and wife Julie of Neoga, Barry Williamson and wife Beth of Windsor, Thomas Williamson and wife Amanda of Ashmore and Wendel Williamson of Tucson, AZ; and six great-grandchildren, Bart and Ted Williamson of Neoga, Taylor, Olivia and Tanner Williamson of Windsor and Merideth Williamson of Ashmore.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Orval Williamson; and two sisters, Edna Sherwood and Esther Krile.
