STRASBURG - Emma Schrimpf, 94, of Strasburg died at 10:55 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 4, 2000) in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, with Rev. Michael Mohr officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg.
Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Aug. 21, 1906, in Strasburg, the daughter of Charles and Matilda Mae Fields Krile.
She married Walter Paul Schrimpf in 1924; he died in 1980.
Surviving are one daughter, Eileen Fender of Morton; one sister, Gertie Biehler of Shelbyville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Mrs. Schrimpf was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg.

Dr. Rex M. Adams
Dr. Rex M. Adams, 79, of rural Neoga, and formerly of Mattoon, Ill., passed away at 5:00 A.M., Monday, October 2, 2000 in the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Coles County, Ill.
Dr. Adams was born January 18, 1921 in Effingham, Ill., the son of Rex and Haline (Maxfield) Adams.
He married Gladys Virginia Heath on May 1, 1952 in Urbana, Illinois.
Survivors include his wife Virginia, of rural Neoga. One son: Rex Michael Adams of Mattoon, Ill. Two daughters; Pamela Michelle King and son-in-law, Mark King of Mattoon, Ill., and Melanie Leigh Adams and special friend David Burch of Zion, Ill. Two granddaughters: Jennifer Wade and Ashley Adams. One grandson: Cameron King and one step-grandson: Ryan Logan.
Rex attended and graduated from the Effingham High School in 1938. He attended Kemper Military Academy in Booneville, Missouri and graduated from Northern Illinois College of Optometry with his O.D. Degree.
Dr. Adams served in World War 2, from 1944 to 1946 in the United States Army serving with the 112th Evacuation Hospital in England, Austria and Germany.
Dr. Adams started his optometric practice in 1946 in Mattoon, Illinois and retired July, 1986.
He was a active member in Mattoon Performing Arts, a 25 year member of the Mattoon Lions Club, a life member of the V.F.W. of Mattoon, the Mattoon American Legion, Eagles Club and Moose Lodge of Mattoon.
He was an Honorary life member of the Mattoon and Effingham Fraternal Order of the Elks Club, in which he was an active member for 53 years.
Dr. Adams was a member of the First Christian Church of Mattoon, Ill.
The body will be cremated, and the family requests no visitation or Funeral service.
Dr. Adams was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, one grandson and one granddaughter.

CHARLESTON - Kenneth E. Coffey, 52, of Ashmore, died Tuesday (Oct. 3, 2000) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
R. E. Misenheimer
Robert E. Misenheimer, 74, of Ft. Mers, Fla., died at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2000, in Humana Health Care in Ft. Myers.
Born May 7, 1926, in Moultrie County, he was a son of Ralph and Flossie Aldredge Misenheimer.
He retired in 1989 following a 30 year career as an advertising/marketing executive with Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Chicago, and he attended the University of Illinois.
Following his retirement from Sears, he served as a gentleman host on cruise ships from 1992 to 1995, circling the world three times during 95 cruises.
He was a member and music librarian of the Chorus of the Symphony Of Southwest Florida and made his solo singing debut April 9 in the Gulf Coast Opera Companies Production of "The True Story of Cinderella."
He served in the U.S. Navy in both World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include sisters, Mrs. Noble (Mildred) Smith of Bethany, Mary Cox of Pana, Mrs. Leon (Jean) Aylward of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Carl (Deana) Kutz of Sullivan, Louise Hanners of Arcola and Doris Misenheimer of Mattoon, and a brother, Don Misenheimer of Dale, Ind.
Two brothers, Carl and Clyde and his parents preceded him in death.
Frank Broyles
TUCSON, Ariz. - Frank Montgomery Broyles, 84, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Charleston, died Sept. 18, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 19, 1915, in Clay County, the son of James Albert and Mary Belle Broyles.
He married Wanda Sutherlin; she preceded him in death. He married Ethel Broyles; she survives.
Also surviving are one son, William F. Broyles; one daughter, Anne L. Broyles; one stepson, Larry Holland; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son and one sister.
Mr. Broyles taught math and industrial arts at several mid-Illinois high schools.
He was an Air Force veteran, and later as a civilian became an Air Force jet engine mechanic and instructor. He worked at Grand Central Aircraft Co. in Tucson and Hughes Aircraft Co., from which he retired after 25 years.

Michelle Fugate
MATTOON - Michelle Jolene Fugate, 29, of Mattoon, died at 9:34 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 1, 2000) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
She was born June 14, 1971, in Mattoon, the daughter of Donald E. and Terree L. White Cobb.
She married John E. Fugate in 1990; he survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Terree White of Champaign; father and stepmother, Donald and Melanie Cobb of Lovington; one son, Dalton Fugate, at home; two daughters, Meagan and Macey Fugate, both at home; grandparents, James A. White of Mattoon and Bruce and Mary Cobb of Mattoon; and great-grandmother, Hazel Cougill of Charleston.
She was preceded in death by two infant sisters and a grandmother.
Mrs. Fugate was a licensed beautician.
She attended the First Christian Church.

Juan Villarreal
ARCOLA - Juan A. Villarreal, 29, of Arcola, died at 8:57 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 30, 2000) in rural Humboldt.
Mr. Villarreal was born Nov. 24, 1970, in Laredo, Texas, the son of Juan Abel Villarreal and Elisa (Mendoza) Villarreal.
Surviving are his mother of Mexico; one son, Bailey Abel Wilson of Monroe, La.; and two sisters, Alisia Villarreal and Guadalupe Villarreal, both of Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Lester Carroll Adkins
Lester Carroll Adkins, age 88, of Mattoon, formerly of rural Lerna, passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2000, at the Mattoon Health Care Center.
Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Sharon Monroe officiating.
Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
Carroll was born April 24, 1912 in Pleasant Grove Township, Coles County, a son of George B. and Gertrude Millage Adkins.
He married Frances H. Adams on May 3, 1939. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Carroll Adkins and wife Sandra of rural Mattoon; two brothers, Dale Adkins and wife Jean of Shelbyville and Clarence Ithiel Adkins and wife Fern of Mattoon; sister-in-law, Margaret Adkins of Lerna; three grandchildren, Carroll Lee Adkins II and Karen Adkins, both of Mattoon, Cathy Thompson and husband Mark of Oregon, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Thompson of Oregon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd Adkins.
Mr. Adkins was a lifelong farmer.

Richard Lee "Rick" Askren
Richard Lee "Rick" Askren, 68, of rural West Union, Illinois and formerly of Danville, Illinois died Thursday, December 7, 2000 at 2:00 A.M. at his residence.
He was born January 5, 1932 in Danville, Illinois to Richard Lawrence Askren and Lorraine Blakely Askren.
Survivors include: his wife, Patricia Fulwider Askren, whom he married on August 23, 1981 in California; one son, Richard Askren and his wife Leatha of Charleston, Illinois; two daughters, Kathy Applegate of Charleston, Illinois; Barbara Lawson and her husband Larry of Mattoon, Illinois; two stepsons, Richard Butler and his wife Patti of Redway, California, and Steve Butler and his wife Debbi of Eureka, California; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Kay Silvestro of Catlin, Illinois; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marguerite and Dick Blakely of Westville, Illinois, Sally and Marlin Rossiter of Paris, Illinois and Mary and Tom Seilhymer of Georgetown, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Liz Askren of Covington, Indiana, and Susan Askren of Attica, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his grandparents who raised him, W.O. and Viola Askren; his parents; two brothers, Willard "Bud" Askren and Bill Askren, and one daughter, Darlene Brewster.
He was a retired meat cutter having been employed for a number of years with Safeway Grocery Corporation.
He served in the Illinois National Guard and U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1949 to 1956.
His body was donated to medical science at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine at Carbondale, Illinois, with cremation to follow at a later date.
There are no services or visitation planned.

Richard Calhoun
CHARLESTON - Richard H. Calhoun, age 92, of Charleston, passed away at 5:30 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2000, at Hill Top Convalescent Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at the Caudill-King Funeral Home in Charleston with the Reverend Ted Hartley officiating.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Richard was born August 22, 1908 in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the son of Lee and Mada Parrish Calhoun.
He married Beulah Cooper in 1927.
She preceded him in death on April 23, 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Peggy Cuppy and husband Roy of Charleston; one half-brother, Willie Easton of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren, Steven Calhoun of Marshall, Mrs. Patrick (Mindy) Bell of Oakland and Mrs. Terry (Margie) Schmitt of Charleston; and seven great-grandchildren, Chris, Craig and Corey Bell, Carly Schmitt, and Richie, Mike and Angie Calhoun.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, one son, Richard, and one grandson, David.
Mr. Calhoun was a retired Lerna area farmer.
He was over a 50-year member and Past Worshipful Master of the Lerna Masonic Lodge, over 50 year member and Past Worthy Patron of the Leah Chapter of Eastern Star in Lerna, and member of the Sopha C. Chapter of Eastern Star.
Frances Foley
Frances M. Foley, 83, of Scottsdale, AZ, died 12/8/00.
She was born 9/11/17 in Pittsburgh, PA, and moved to AZ 23 years ago.
She is survived by sons, Frank C. Foley of Mesa, AZ, William R. Foley of Glendale, AZ, Ralph W. Foley of Mattoon, IL; daughter, Catherine J. Lutz of York, PA; brother, Paul Sever of Palm Coast, FL; sisters, Anna Sismour of VA; Genevieve (Jenny) Panchack of Pittsburgh; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Sunday, 12/10/00, 3-8 PM, with Rosary at 7 PM, at Messinger Indian School Chapel, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale, AZ.
Mass will be Monday 12/11/00, 1:30 PM., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3801 N. Miller Rd., Scottsdale, AZ.
