GREENUP - Zola F. Snider, 95, of Greenup, died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 28, 2000) at Cumberland Nursing Center, Greenup.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the Barkley Funeral Home in Greenup with the Rev. Roger James officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenup Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
Lois Carol Bohlen
Lois Carol Bohlen, age 79, of Mattoon, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2001 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services celebrating her life will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. E. E. Elliott officiating, assisted by the Reverend James Dona.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the Schilling Funeral Home.
Lois was born December 20, 1921, at Wabash County, Illinois, a daughter of Frank E. and Essie McJilton Crum.
She married Albert Dale Bohlen on April 30, 1945. He passed away on October 13, 1973.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Kathleen Dauterive and husband Lee of New Orleans, Louisiana, Georgia Anne Ryan and husband Harold of Casey, Elaine Mathias and husband Gary of Mattoon; Mindy Lisa Bohlen-Admire and husband Parry of Apex, North Carolina; one sister, Mary Esther Bolza of Tucson, Arizona; and eight grandchildren, Cameron Clesi of Metarie, Louisiana, Jeremy Ryan, Christopher Ryan and Patrick Ryan, all of Charleston, Carol Ryan of Casey, Mindy Mathias and Matt Mathias, both of Mattoon and Mariah Admire of Apex, North Carolina.
Mrs. Bohlen was a homemaker.
She attended the University of Illinois.
Lois was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Gleaner's Sunday School Class and was a Past Deaconess.
She was the co-founder of Mattoon Chapter of T.H.E.O.S. (They Heal Each Other Spiritually).
Lois was a member of the Mattoon Women's Reading Club, the American Association of University Women, Mattoon Homemakers Extension Association and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Mattoon - Lois Bohlen Hymnal Fund.
Charles Burnett
JOHNSTON CITY - Charles W. Burnett, 83, of Johnston City, died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) at his residence.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Danny Gray officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens of Energy.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Benton, the son of Otto and Maude Echoles Burnett.
He married Ruby Webb. He later married Nina Ferguson Kesler in 1986; she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Wendell Burnett of Herrin; four daughters, Olinda Hancock of Noblesville, Ind., Edith Null of Herrin, and DiAnne Burnett and Nancy Deason, both of Johnston City; two stepsons, John Kesler of Mattoon and Joseph Kesler of Johnston City; one stepdaughter, Kathryn Cloemay Kesler of Paducah, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two stepsons, three brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Burnett was a coal miner at Zeigler No. 4 Mine for 25 years and Freeman No. 6 Mine until his retirement. He then worked at Jefferson School in Johnston City.
He was a member of the Pittsburg Freewill Baptist Church, the United Mine Workers and Fellowship Lodge No. 89 AF and AM of Marion.

Rev. Charles Dye
CHARLESTON - Reverend Charles Paul "Charlie" Dye, 44, of Charleston was embraced in the arms of his Heavenly Father at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at his home.
Services celebrating his graduation into Glory will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Elder Bruce Swango officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Charlie was born October 3, 1956 in Savannah, Georgia, son of Gerald Dye and Gladys Myers-Dye.
He married Brenda Sladek May 23, 1981 in Springfield, Illinois, she survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Matthew Paul Dye and Joshua James Dye, both at home.
His parents: Jerald Dye and Gladys Myers-Dye of Mt. Pleasant, PA; three brothers: Jerry K. Dye and Timothy P. Dye, both of Mt. Pleasant, PA, and Steven J. Dye of Knoxville, TN; and one sister: Susan A. Horner of Plum Borough, PA.
Charlie was currently serving God as minister at the Bushton Christian Church.
He was active in the community, serving with the Lincoln Log Cabin Volunteer Pioneer and was a scoutmaster for Charleston Boy Scout Troop #141.

SHELBYVILLE - Charles F. Furr, 87, of Shelbyville, died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) in Shelby Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with the Rev. Kenneth E. Barlow officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Shelby County, the son of Oscar and Mattie Hayward Furr.
He married Faye Dell Edwards in 1935; she died in 1998.
Surviving are one son, Wayne Furr of Shelbyville; one daughter, Joyce Largent of Bethany; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Furr was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Shelbyville.

SULLIVAN - Robert E. "Bob" Hughes, 74, of Sullivan, died at 12:48 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan with the Rev. Mike Brandenburger officiating.
Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan.

He was born March 2, 1926, in Moultrie County, the son of Leland and Mary Etta Kidwell Hughes.
He married Joan Matheson in 1947; she survives.
Also surviving are three sons Bill and Jim Hughes, both of Sullivan, and Arthur Hughes of San Antonio; two daughters, Luella Hughes of Sullivan and Barbara Hughes of Mattoon; two sisters, Maxine Eaton of Sullivan and Mildred Isley of Elizabethtown, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Mr. Hughes retired in 1989 from Quantum in Tuscola.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399 of Urbana and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Gilbert Cisney
HIDALGO - Gilbert Wayne Cisney began this life April 20, 1913, in Cumberland Co., the son of Cleveland & Cozy (Lyons) Cisney.
He entered eternal life February 6, 2001 at his home in Hidalgo, IL.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Barkley Funeral Home, Greenup.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 at the Faith Fellowship Church of Hidalgo, IL.
Gilbert married Minerva Henderson in 1939, she passed away in 1966.
He married Ruby (Kibler) Reisner in 1967, she survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Vicie Blade of Greenup and Goldie Mayerhofer of Brighton; seven sons and two daughters, Duane (Karen), Vernon (Kathy), Charles (Debbie) all of Hidalgo, IL, John (Anita), Jerry (Mary), Virgil (Cindy) all of Greenup, IL, Jim (Paulette), Janice (Jack) Watkins all of Newton, IL, Mary Jane (Bill) Lewis of Stewardson, IL; one stepdaughter, Dorothy (Harry) Corbette of Casey, IL; 27 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nine step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren and a multitude of friends and church family.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one granddaughter and one stepson.
Gilbert's early life on the farm using horses and mules to work the soil changed through the years to tractors and mechanical harvesters as a means of supporting the family.
He was also an independent trucker, known to most people as "Bo-Jack."
Gilbert was a diligent worker, loving father and faithful friend throughout his earthly life, he received God's gift of salvation in 1973 and faithfully served his Lord and His church since that time.
He was a member of the Faith Fellowship Church of Hidalgo.

Dr. Mack W. Hollowell
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Dr. Mack W. Hollowell, age 81, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2001 at his winter vacation home.
Mack was born December 20, 1919, in Charleston, son of Mack and Elsie Swickard Hollowell of Newman, IL.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Alice Burgett.
Mack later married Margaret Campbell Barlow of Sullivan July 26, 1975, she survives.
He is also survived by his children: Dr. Susan K. Shirley and husband Dr. Michael Shirley of St. Charles, IL and their son; Jason of Champaign; Dr. Jeff Hollowell and his children Jacob and Alyssa of Waukesha, WI; Melissa Katsimpalis and husband Tom and their son Kory of Ft. Collins, CO: and Megan Summers and her husband Stuart and their children: Alanz, Evan and Iris of Valparaiso, IN.
Also surviving are his step-children: John C. Barlow and his children Ellen and Lincoln of Valparaiso, IN; Todd L. Barlow and wife Sandra and their children David, Grace and Sam of Bloomington, IL; and Mary Anne Barlow Allen of Scottsdale, AZ.
He earned his Bachelor of Medicine degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and his M.D. from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago.
He served in the Army Medical Corps in the South Pacific during World War II.
After honorable discharge, he practiced family medicine in Charleston for 46 years.
He was instrumental in raising money for the Charleston Memorial and Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center Hospitals.
He was the medical director for the Hour House Drug and Rehabilitation Center for 28 years, retiring only in December 2000.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
He was also a member of the Illinois Medical Society, serving on several committees.
He was a member and President of the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians, a member and President of the SBLHC Systems Board and Foundation Boards in previous years.
He was an active member of the Coles Cumberland Medical Society.
He was a member and first President of the Eastern Illinois University Board of Trustees, and had previously served on the Illinois Board of Governors of State College and Universities.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2001 at Wesley United Methodist Church under the direction of Harper-Swickard Funeral Home.
Reverend Dale Beck will officiate.
Interment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, February 9, 2001 at Wesley United Methodist Church from 4 p.m. till 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Florence Cornell
GREENUP, Illinois - Mrs. Florence Cornell, 84, of Greenup, Ill., formerly of Toledo, Ill., died at 12:20 p.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2001) at the Cumberland Nursing Center, Greenup.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home, Neoga, with the Rev. Jack Jenkins of Toledo, officiating.
Burial will be in Neoga Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
She was born May 5, 1916, in Macon County, Ill., a daughter of Issac and Alletha (Bales) Keller.
She married Delbert W. Cornell on Oct. 19, 1935 in Cumberland County, Ill.; he died Jan. 6, 1999.
Survivors include a son, Wendell Cornell and wife Janet of Toledo, Ill.; a brother, Paul Keller of Neoga, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Kathryn Bridges of Mattoon, Ill.; two grandchildren, Mrs. Scott (Heather) Rippey of Arcola, Ill., and Melissa Slaton of St. George, So. Carolina; five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Mrs. Cornell retired from Kern Manufacturing Company of Neoga, Ill., after 45 years with the company.
She was a member of the Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Toledo, Ill.
