WESTFIELD - Paralee Daughhetee, 84, of rural Westfield, died at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2001) at Friendship Manor in St. Elmo.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Richwoods Cemetery, Westfield, with Mark Kaley officiating.
The Markwell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born July 5, 1916, in Westfield, the daughter of Earl C. and Nancy E. Welsh Hammond.
She married Sidney W. Daughhtee in 1932; he died in 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Edwards of Plainfield, Ind., and Jeanette Dominix Westfield; two sisters, Reba Laws of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Hazel Woodard of Westfield; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Mrs. Daughhtee was a homemaker.

Dallas Grindle
WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Dallas M. Grindle, 67, of West Terre Haute, Ind., died at 4:10 p.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2001) at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Ind.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union, with the Rev. Jerry McDaniel officiating.
Burial will be in the Bradbury Cemetery, east of West York.
Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5975 and American Legion Post 90.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. and then prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral chapel.
He was born April 5, 1933, in Vigo County, Ind., the son of A. Marlow Grindle and Ruth Olive Marvin Grindle.
He married Marilyn Elliott Grindle in 1961; she died in 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Sybil L. Grindle of West Terre Haute, Ind.; one sister, Olive Hollingsworth of Marshall; one brother, Herman Grindle of Terre Haute, Ind.; and one grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Grindle was a truck driver and an Army veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War.
He was a member of the York Lodge 313, AF and AM, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Terre Haute, the Ainad Shrine, the Clark County Shrine Club, Marshall VFW Post 5975, Clark County American Legion Post 90, AARP and an associate member of Zorah Shrine.
Memorials may be made to Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children or the Bradbury Cemetery.
Rex Kentner
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - Rex Kentner, 84, of Crawfordsville, Ind., formerly of Martinsville, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2001) at Clarian Health of Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Murphy officiating.
Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville.
Visitation will begin at noon on Friday at the funeral home.
He was born July 11, 1916, in Bismark, the son of Lindley O. Kentner and Etta F. DeNeal Kentner.
He married Mildred Watson Houpt in 1959; she died in 1995.
Surviving are one son, Bruce L. Kentner of Crawfordsville, Ind.; one stepson, Bob Houpt of Casey; one brother, David Kentner of Crawfordsville, Ind.; two grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one stepson.
Mr. Kentner worked for 18 years at the California Pellett Mill in Crawfordsville, Ind., and retired from Brinks Security Company in Tampa, Fla.
He attended the First Christian Church of Martinsville.
JANET KIBLER
Jennett Nevin "Janet" Kibler, age 97, of Neoga, formerly of Gays, passed away at 1:05 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at the Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. E. E. Elliott officiating.
Burial will follow at the Dodge Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday morning at the funeral home.
Janet was born August 18, 1903, in Ottumwa, Iowa, a daughter of James and Jennett Lewis Nevin.
She married Nolan A. Kibler on October 14, 1928.
He passed away on November 20, 1975.
She was also preceded in death by three children, Mary Jane Kibler Piehl, Stanley Nevin Kibler and Jean Ann Kibler, six brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Kibler had graduated from nursing school in New York City.
She pursued her nursing career, raised her family and helped Nolan in his farming.
They made their home in Gays.
At the age of 80, she retired from her nursing profession at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon.
She was a member of the Rebekahs and attended the First Christian Church in Gays.

Marilyn Luckey
NEWTON - Marilyn L. Luckey, 43, of Newton, died at 2:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2001) at her residence.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Oakland Cemetery, Oakland, with the Rev. Ron Mulvey officiating.
The Taber Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Feb. 21, 1957, in Mattoon, the daughter of James and Josephine Golladay Lefler.
She married Michael Luckey in 1973; he survives.
Also surviving are her mother of Martinsville; two sons, Mike of Dietrich and Chris of Centralia; two daughters, Jackie Lefler and Becky Luckey, both of Newton; one brother, James Lefler of Newton; four sisters, Patricia Sanders of Decatur, Linda Lewis of Mattoon, Barbara Lefler of Jewett and Mary Jones of Martinsville; one stepbrother, Russell Rickley of Florida; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister.
Mrs. Luckey had worked at various factories.
She was a member of Potter House Church of Newton.

Betty Merrick
GALLATIN, Tenn. - Betty L. Merrick, 57, of Gallatin, Tenn., formerly of Neoga, died at 3:55 p.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2001) at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
The funeral will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Gallatin, Tenn.
Visitation will be noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Neoga Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Lake officiating.

She was born Oct. 29, 1943, in Neoga, the daughter of Marion L. and D. Evelyn Peters Ballinger. Surviving are one son, Richard A. Merrick of Rico, Colo.; two daughters, Marissa Scruggs of Hartsville, Tenn., and Kyla J. Jordan of Gallatin, Tenn.; two brothers, Johnny Ballinger of Stewardson and Bill Ballinger of Mattoon; three sisters, Joan Sanders and Peggy Storm, both of Mattoon, and Kathy Ballinger of Neoga; and four grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents.Mrs. Merrick was a secretary and administrative assistant of Christian Towers for 22 years. Lucille Smith
Lucille Bennion Smith, age 66, of Charleston, passed away at 7:40 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2001, at her home following a valiant eight month battle with cancer.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Country Club Road in Mattoon, with Bishop T. Ned Lunt officiating.
Private family graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Mound Cemetery in Charleston.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Schilling Funeral Home.
Lucille was born in Delta, Utah on August 10, 1934, a daughter of Sterling Alfred and Beryl Adella Hamilton Bennion.
She married Calvin N. Smith on June 8, 1962 in the Manti Temple, Manti, Utah.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin N. Smith of Charleston; one son, Samuel Sterling Smith of San Clemente, California; one daughter, Sherilyn Ann Smith of Hamilton, Montana; one brother, Sterling Hamilton Bennion and wife Leora of Fresno, California; and two sisters, Marion Stevens and husband Wayne of El Paso, Texas and Erma Gene Rollins and husband Boyd of Provo, Utah.
Lucille received her Master's degree from Purdue University.
She worked for fourteen years for Eastern Illinois University in the Business office.
Lucille was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she held many callings throughout her life.

Lawrence E. Wilkin
Lawrence Elmer Wilkin of Casey, IL, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 1, 2001, at 2:25 p.m., from lung cancer.
Mr. Wilkin was born on June 6, 1912, in Crawford County, IL. He was the son of Otis May and Lena Bell Wilson Wilkin.
On April 16, 1938, Mr. Wilkin married Maxine Coleman in East St. Louis, IL.
Maxine passed away on January 14, 1986.
Mr. Wilkin is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, Kenneth, Harold and Lyle, and an infant sister, Esther.
Mr. Wilkin is survived by three nieces and three nephews.
They are Carol Vails of Puxico, MO, Harold Wilkin of Naperville, IL, Larry Wilkin of Leaf River, IL, Kathryn Coleman of Dacono, CO, Rebecca Tucker of Germany, and Timothy Wilkin of Sycamore, IL.
He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Wilma Wilkin, of Marshall, IL, a sister-in-law, Marble Noblit, of Newton, IL, one brother-in-law, Don Coleman, of Casey, IL.
Mr. Wilkin was a member of the Operators/Engineers Union Local #841, Terre Haute, IN, the Casey Moose Lodge, and the Champaign Eagles Club.
Mr. Wilkin also enjoyed creating numerous wooden works of art.
Mr. Wilkin was a beloved member of his community and is also survived and remembered by many special friends and neighbors.
Services were held on Saturday, February 3, 2001, at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL, with the Rev. Gene Southard officiating.
Mr. Wilkin was buried next to his wife, Maxine, in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 69, Marshall, IL 62441, in his honor.

Hollys Cutts
TOLEDO - Hollys E. Cutts, 89, of Toledo, died at 1:20 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 4, 2001) at Cumberland Nursing Center, Greenup.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barkley Funeral Home in Toledo, with the Rev. Tim Pearce officiating.
Burial will be in the Toledo Cemetery.
Celebration of life and visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born Dec. 15, 1911, in Johnstown, IL, the daughter of Alburn and Anna (Sims) Rhodes; both parents preceded her in death.
She married Raymond L. Cutts on July 1, 1934; he died July 8, 1971.
Survivors include a son, Harold Cutts and his wife Anita of Toledo; five daughters, Eloise and husband Duane Carrell of Newton, Karen and husband Don Blade of Greenup, Diane and husband Tom Ettelbrick of Greenup, Rita Lustig of Greenup and Belinda and husband Tom Wampler of Franksville, Wis.; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, one brother, two sisters and one grandson.
Mrs. Cutts was a retired school teacher for Cumberland and Neoga School Districts and a homemaker.
She was a member of the Toledo United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers Association, Toledo Domestic Science and Cumberland County Home Extension.
Memorials may be made to the Cumberland Nursing Center Auxiliary.
