SULLIVAN - William E. "Bill" Harlin, 49, of Sullivan died at 8:24 am. Saturday (Feb. 3, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Reed Funeral Home with Greg McLain officiating.
Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery with military rites conducted by Sullivan American Legion Post 68.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born May 28, 1951, in Macon County, the son of Joe E. and Mabel M. Adrian Harlin.
He married Betty McMahan in 1972; she survives.
Other survivors include a son, Billy Harlin of Lovington; daughters Wendy Brown of Sullivan and Teesha Wildman of Beaman, Iowa; sisters Marie Yarnell of Bethany and Roberta Lewis of Mode; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Harlin worked at Harshman P. H and E. for 20 years and currently was a plant engineer at HydroGear in Sullivan.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam war.
He was a member of the Sullivan American Legion Post 68 and Sullivan VFW Post 6410.

Winona Lampe

Estaline Miller
GREENUP - Estaline Miller, 96, of Greenup died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 3, 2001) at Heartland Manor Nursing home, Casey.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Funeral Home, Greenup, with the Rev. Tim Schautz officiating.
Burial will be in Greenup Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 22, 1904, in Cumberland County, the daughter of David and Gertrude Mattoon Miller.
Survivors include a sister, Marjorie Tracey of Geneva; a nephew and great-nieces.
Mrs. Miller was a teacher in Montrose and Hazel Dell.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenup, the Cumberland County Historic Society, Greenup Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma and a charter member of the Civic Club.
Alice Rue
CASEY - Alice Marie Rue, 81, of Casey died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 3, 2001) at her home.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the White Oak Church of God in Casey with the Rev. Kenny Inman and the Rev. Dan Ledley officiating.
Burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Markwell and Son Funeral Home in Casey.
She was born Oct. 8, 1919, in Tilton, a daughter of Wesley and Mary Mumford Ripple.
She married Alonzo R. Rue in 1937; he survives.
Other survivors include eight sons, Robert Rue of Morton, Ron Rue of Casey, Ben Rue of Lawrenceville, John Rue of Peotone, Richard Rue of Houston, Texas, Tony Rue of Katy, Texas, Jack Rue of Martinsville and Rodney Rue of Pekin; five daughters, Mary Sue Watson of Neoga, Bonnie Baird of Martinsville, Andrea Rue at home, Julie Briggs of Danville and Melanie Evans of Friendswood, Texas; one brother, Albert Ripple of Danville; 39 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Rue had been a food service worker for 30 years at Rue's Cafe, Birchwood, Casey High School and Eastern Illinois University.
She was a member of Casey White Oak Church of God.

James Upchurch
MATTOON - James Upchurch, 66, of Mattoon died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 4, 2001) at the Douglas Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Joe Walden
GREENUP - Joe Walden, 92, of Greenup died at 6:20 p.m. Friday (Feb. 2, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup with the Rev. Roger James officiating.
Burial will be in Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
He was born June 21, 1908, in Cumberland County, the son of Joe and Cary Zade (Harrell) Walden.
He married Flossie M. Stevens in 1930; she died in 1999.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Schreiber of Sullivan, nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Walden was a retired farmer and a member of the Mount Zion Block Church in rural Greenup.
Betty Wheeler
ASHMORE - Betty C. Wheeler, 78, of Ashmore died at 5:30 a.m. Friday (Feb. 2, 2001) at her home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bishop Funeral Home in Greenup with the Rev. Gary England officiating.
Burial will be in the Island Creek Cemetery in Jasper County.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 12, 1922, in Coles County, the daughter of Ralph and Goldie Clark Cox.
Survivors include a son, Jesse Wheeler of Froid, Mont.; two daughters, Lynn Burch of Charleston and Elaine Clark of Froid, Mont.; a brother, Clifford Cox of Florida; sisters Clara of Harlowton, Mont., and Annetta of Culbertson, Mont., Jeanetta Phillips of Florida; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Mrs. Wheeler was a retired registered nurse.
She was a former member of the Jubilee Christian Church in Charleston and had served as a missionary in several foreign countries.

Elsie Hundman
Elsie Marie Hundman, age 88, of Mattoon, formerly of Blooomington, passed away at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday February 1, 2001, at the Douglas Care and Rehabilitation.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church with Father Herman J. Niebrugge officiating.
Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
Private visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
The Schilling Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Elsie was born February 7, 1912, in Alma Township, Marion County, Illinois a daughter of Albert and Alice Marlow White, both of whom preceded her in death.
Elsie married Thornton Smith on August 23, 1930 and he preceded her in death on September 15, 1932.
Elsie later married Ollie Hundman, who also preceded her in death in 1985.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Smith and wife Jeanne of Mattoon; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Mary Ann Leichtenberg and husband Larry, and their family of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Martha Lee Glad and husband Bill and their family of International Falls, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Evelyn White of Salem and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hundman was employed by the City of Bloomington in the engineering department at the time of her retirement.
Elsie was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.

Rita Lee
MARTINSVILLE - Rita Lee, 67, of rural Martinsville, died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) at the Heartland Manor Nursing Home, Casey.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Mark Doane officiating.
Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery, rural Martinsville.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born May 11, 1933, in Indianapolis, the daughter of Raymond and Eva Cline Goodwin.
She married George Burton Lee in 1951; he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Pamela Kadow of Springfield and Sharyl Perisho of Martinsville; two brothers, William Goodwin of Omaha, Neb., and Jack Goodwin of Seymour, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Lee was a homemaker and member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
