Marjorie Ratts

SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. - Marjorie June Ratts, 81, of Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of Oakland, died Sunday (Jan. 28, 2001) at Manatee Memorial Hospital.

Burial was in Florida National Cemetery.

The Lewers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth; two sons, Larry of Bridgeport, Pa., and Gary of Wausau, Wis.; one daughter, Judith Roseberry of Exton, Pa.; two brothers, James L. Swinford of Mattoon and Maurice L. Swinford of Herrin; one sister, Alberta Kathleen Beck of Charleston; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ratts was a member of the First Christian Church of Sun City Center, Fla., former member of the Trinity Baptist Church, and member of the Sun City Center Square Dance Club and the Round Dancing Club.

Everett Arterburn

BARTONVILLE - Everett H. Arterburn, 84, of Bartonville, formerly of Sullivan, died at 3:18 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) in Fondulac Woods Health Care Center, East Peoria.

The funeral will be 6 p.m. Saturday at the Maxwell Road Church of God, Bartonville, with the Rev. Ted Deal officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Another service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan.

Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Sullivan, the son of Potter E. and Phama E. Kirby Aterburn.

He married Elsie Eleanora Lee in 1938; she survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Bernard of Bartonville, Neil of Peoria and Warren of Chillicothe; one daughter, Marcia Leadman of Huntington, W.Va; one brother, Edward of Peoria; two sisters, Myrtle Foster of Bethany and Lois Bowen of Moweaqua; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two half brothers.

Mr. Arterburn was a welder for Wabco in Peoria.

He was a member of the Maxwell Road Church of God, Bartonville, and the Boilermakers Local in Peoria.

Tammy Lewis

TUSCOLA - Tammy Lynn Lewis, 23, of Tuscola, died at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 31, 2001) at the Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola, with the Rev. Elizabeth Killeen and the Rev. Kent Conover officiating.

Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 31, 1977, in Tuscola, the daughter of William Steven Lewis and Diana Lynn Conner Risley.

Surviving are her mother of Tuscola; her stepfather, Kevin Risley of Tuscola; one sister, Amy Reinhart of Tuscola; three stepbrothers, Kevin Risley Jr. of Arthur, Wayne Risley of Louisville and Quinton Risley of Arcola; and grandparents Harland "Hop" and Nancy Conner of Tuscola, and Bill and Flossie Risley of Arthur.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Memorials may be made to Swann Special Care Center, Champaign.

Rachel Lindeman

SALEM, Ore. - Rachel Virginia Lindeman, 85, of Salem, Ore., formerly of Arcola, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2001) at Salem Memorial Hospital in Salem, Ore.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Shrader Funeral Home, Arcola, with the Rev. Margaret Misal officiating.

Burial will be in Arcola Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 17, 1915, in Axtel, Ky., the daughter of Lonnie and Elizabeth Chancellor Vandiver.

She married Leon Lindeman in 1936; he died in 1992.

Surviving are one son, Richard Lindeman of Huntsville, Texas; two daughters, Lois Jackson of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Debra Murphy of Salem, Ore.; two sisters, Alta Epling of Mount Zion and Joyce Sterner of Coolidge, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

Mrs. Lindeman retired from the University of Illinois as a lab technician for the Veterinary Medical Sciences Department and the Home Economics Department.

She was a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Arcola United Methodist Church.

Virginia McDuffie

MATTOON - Virginia Ellen McDuffie, 90, of Mattoon, died at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2001) at the Treemont Nursing Center in Dallas.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Clark officiating.

Burial will be in Beals Cemetery, Trilla.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 23, 1910, in New Salem, the daughter of Charles and Lilly Highland.

She married Homer Morris McDuffie in 1930; he died in 1990.

Surviving are two sons, Brian McDuffie of Rowlett, Texas, and Leroy McDuffie of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Carol Rommell of Irving, Texas, and Farrell Lotts of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. McDuffie was a retired clerk of Bridges Drug Store in Mattoon.

J. Dale Roberts

BRADENTON, Fla. - J. Dale Roberts, 90, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Mattoon, died Jan. 30, 2001, at Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, Fla.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Congregational United Church of Christ.

The Griffith-Cline Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born Dec. 27, 1910, in Coles County.

Surviving are his companion, Dorothy "Dottie" Roof of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Roberts retired as dean of vocational and technical education from Lake Land College in Mattoon.

He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, the AF & AM in Mattoon, Scottish Rite in East St. Louis, Ansar Temple in Springfield, a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1511 in Bradenton.

Lawrence Wilkin

CASEY - Lawrence E. Wilkin, 88, of Casey, died at 2:25 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) at his residence.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, with the Rev. Gene Southard officiating.

Burial will be in Casey Cumberland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to service time Saturday.

He was born June 6, 1912, in Crawford County, the son of Otis and Lena Bell Wilson Wilkin.

He married Maxine Coleman in 1938.

She died in 1986.

Surviving is special friend, Alice Sipus of Casey.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one daughter.

Mr. Wilkin was a member of Operator/Engineers Union Local 841 of Terre Haute, Ind., the Casey Moose Lodge and the Champaign Eagles Club.

Joseph Dilley

Joseph L. Dilley, age 76, of rural Neoga, Illinois, formerly of Camarillo, California, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, February 1, 2001 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Schilling Funeral Home, Mattoon with Father Herman J. Niebrugge officiating.

Interment services will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Joseph was born March 16, 1924, at Beach, North Dakota, a son of George and Bertha Utez Dilley.

He married Jean Laing on July 3, 1953.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Dilley of rural Neoga, Illinois; three daughters, Jolane Jewell and husband Allen of Neoga, Laurel Boles and husband Ron of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Cheri Borgaro and husband Joseph of Albany, Oregon; one brother, Lyle Dilley of Shaver Lake, Calif.; one sister, Anne Francbandera of Long Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Dilley was retired as production manager from Northrop Corporation in the Aerospace industry.

He was an Army/Air Force Veteran, Ex-P.O.W. of World War II, and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Frances Baugher

WINDSOR - Frances "Sweetheart" Baugher, 85, of Windsor died at 6:30 p.m. Monday (January 29, 2001) at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. Richard Eident officiating assisted by Rev. Lana Robyne.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time.

Burial will be in the Windsor Cemetery.

She was born October 9, 1915, in Alton, IL, the daughter of Albert and Ollie Florence Arnett Weaver.

She married Frank Baugher September 12, 1936, in Decatur and he preceded her in death October 8, 1996.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Windsor.

Surviving are sons, Richard Baugher and wife Susan of Windsor, Dan Baugher and wife Brenda of Windsor; daughters, Nancy Sanders and husband Leo of Windsor, Karen Rauch and husband Robert of Sullivan; brother, William Weaver of Mt. Carmel; sister, Jane Boose of Decatur; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

One brother has preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Windsor or the Windsor Ambulance Service.

Eva Briscoe

SULLIVAN - Eva M. Briscoe, 94, of Sullivan, died at 11:02 a.m. January 31, 2001, in the Eastview Terrace Nursing Home, Sullivan.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. In the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, visitation will be one hour before service time.

Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Sullivan.

Memorials: Highway Church of Christ, Sullivan or the Alzheimer's Association.

She was born on February 27, 1906, in Arthur, the daughter of Columbus and Minnie Clark Sutton.

She was a member of the Highway Church of Christ, Sullivan, Rebekah Lodge, Sullivan.

She married Arthur Mervin Briscoe on December 26, 1931, in Terre Haute, and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1966.

Surviving are a brother: Vernon Sutton of Taylorville; niece; Joyce Fish of Sullivan, sister-in-law; Donella Davis of Sullivan; brother-in-law, Dorman Shirey of Sullivan; special friend; Carolyn Houser of Sullivan.

Several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters.
