Matthew Troy Cahill, 22, of Noblesville, Indiana died Friday Jan. 26, 2001 in an automobile accident in Grant County, Indiana.
He was born Oct. 25, 1978 in Indianapolis, IN.
He was the beloved son of John William Jr. and RaeDel Susan (Willis) Cahill formerly of Mattoon. They survive.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother Jon Michael Cahill of Hot Springs, S.D., grandparents Virgil Charles and Geraldine (Miller) Willis of Mattoon and John William Sr. and Dorothy (Kadish) Cahill of Northport, FL (formerly of Mattoon).
Also surviving are his Aunt and Uncle, Art and Brenda (Willis) Hall of Mattoon, Aunt Nancy Cahill of Indianapolis, Aunt Sally Cahill of Michigan, Aunt Peggy Leitch of New Mexico, Cousin Eric P. Hall of Mattoon and Cousin Maggie Leitch also of Mattoon and best friend Rachel Elizabeth Dryden of Indianapolis.
Matt was a senior at Purdue University majoring in Electrical Engineering.
He was on an intramural soccer and intramural basketball team there.
He was a member of Purdue Campus House and Campus Crusade for Christ at Purdue where he served on an evangelism team and was a Bible study leader.
Matt was a 1997 graduate of Hamilton Heights High School where he served as senior class president as well as student body president.
He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Atheletes, was inducted into the National Honor Society, attended Boys State, was Captain of the soccer team and on the basketball and track team.
He was a member of the Arcadia Christian Church.
A celebration of his life was held Tues. Jan. 30, 2001 at the Cicero Christian Church with Rev. J.R. Moffatt officiating.
Burial was in Cicero Cemetary.

EVA C. HONN
MATTOON - Eva C. Honn, 83, of Mattoon, went to Rest in the arms of Jesus at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at Mattoon Health Care Center.
A service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2001 at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Doctor Donald Selvidge officiating.
Interment will follow in Arcola Cemetery.
The family will receive guests at visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Eva was born April 29, 1917 daughter of A.C.B. and Nellie C. Payne Honn.
She was born on her grandfather's farm northeast of Humboldt, near Walnut Grove Church.
In 1920, her family moved to Kemp, Illinois.
Survivors include two brothers, Carter E. Honn of Sullivan and Loren D. Honn of Champaign; and two sisters: Edith M. Hoots of Decatur and Mary G. Coslet of Tuscola.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She attended grade school at Kemp, and high school at Hindsboro.
She first taught at Allison Grade School, northeast of Arcola, then in the Kansas and Gays school districts, before moving to the Mattoon school district in 1944.
Here, she taught at the former Longfellow and Lowell grade schools.
She then was the first principal of the new Franklin School in 1959.
It was at Franklin where she completed her forty-five years of service in public education, retiring in 1982.
Miss Honn's service in education extended beyond her roles as principal and teacher.
She served at various times on committees and boards.
She was also a strong supporter of parent-teacher organizations, and was awarded a life membership in the Mattoon P.T.A.
She was a member of the Church of Christ on DeWitt Avenue in Mattoon, a lifetime member and Past President of the Coles County Retired Teacher's Association, lifetime member of the Illinois Education Association, member of the Coles County Council on Aging, where she became involved with the RSVP program in 1985.
Through this group, she helped the Mattoon Library set up a substation in the Mattoon Senior Citizens Center and was an active volunteer in the telecare and hospice programs.
She was also a member of the American Association of University Women.
She was nominated by the Coles County Council on Aging and inducted September 4, 1999 into the Senior Illinois Hall of Fame, for her lifelong dedication to education.
She was awarded the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Volunteer of the Year Award for her work with the Coles County Council on Aging.
In 1995, she was given the Coles County Historical Society nomination for outstanding RSVP Volunteer of the Year.
In addition to her volunteer work, she enjoyed planting and maintaining flowers at her home.

David Latch
NEOGA, Ill. - David Ray Latch, 41, of rural Neoga, Illinois, died at 6 p.m. Monday (Jan. 29, 2001) at his residence.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) at the Gaskill Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Massengill of Neoga, officiating.
No visitation.

He was born August 15, 1959, in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Ray A. and Pauline V. (Thompson) Latch.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Dennis (Sue) Williams of Stewardson, Ill.; niece, Lauri Williams of Hord, Ill.; close friends, Ken and Jenean Koester of Charleston, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Latch was a customer service and quotation manager for the P & H Manufacturing Co. of Shelbyville, Ill.
He also owned the Neoga Package Liquors in Neoga, Ill.
He was a member of the Gaskill United Methodist Church in Shelby County, Ill.

Juanita Waggoner
CHARLESTON, IL - Juanita June Margaret Waggoner, age 71 of Charleston, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2001 at her home.
Services celebrating her life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 1 with Reverend Dale Beck officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. this evening (Wednesday).
Services and visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston.
Following the services, interment will be held at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon.
Juanita was born April 2, 1929, in Rural Humboldt, Coles County, Illinois the daughter of Oscar and Eunice (Clow) Seaman.
She married Aden Waggoner on February 10, 1951 in Charleston.
Survivors include her husband, Aden Waggoner of Charleston; four children, Terry Waggoner and his wife Fran of rural Charleston, Keith Waggoner and his wife Angie of Mattoon, Illinois, Dorothy Waggoner of Charleston and Darrell Waggoner of Peoria, Illinois; Two grandchildren, Brandy Waggoner and Joshua Waggoner, both of Charleston and one nephew, Ron Seaman of Washington State.
She was preceded by her parents and one sister, Dorothy Ranier.
Juanita was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Charleston.
She retired from Eastern Illinois University after serving on the staff in Booth Library for twenty-eight years.
Her hobbies included playing cards, raising rosebushes, cooking, cake decorating and playing the piano.
Her treasures were her family, and Aden, Terry, Fran, Dorothy, Keith, Angie, Darrell, Brandy, Joshua and Ron will warmly remember her as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and aunt.
Juanita's family requests that memorials in honor of her be made to Hospice of Lincolnland.

Mernal E. 'Coop" Cartwright
CHARLESTON - Mernal Evelyn "Coop" Cartwright, age 85, of Charleston passed away on Monday, February 26, 2001 at her home.
Services celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 2 with Reverend Bill Boaz officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Mernal was born April 12, 1915, in Clark County, Illinois the daughter of William and Hazel (Baumgartner) Cooper.
She married Edgar E. "Ed" Cartwright in Missouri on February 17, 1940.
He preceded her in death on November 12, 1998.
Surviving are her children, Carl Cartwright and his wife Kathy of Charleston and Karen Gray and her husband Jim of Neoga, Illinois.
Also surviving are grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jonathan Cartwright at home; Jeff Gray of Oahu, Hawaii and his children Justin, Lindsay and Jack; Cara Gray of Breese, Illinois and her children Devin and Westley; Chris Cartwright of Morrison, Colorado and his wife Kari and their children Cody, Shelby and Emily; five brothers and one sister.
She was preceded by her husband, her parents, a brother and a sister.
Coop was employed for many years as a cook in the Charleston School System.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul McVey Post 1592 of Charleston.
In lieu of flowers, Coop's family requests that memorials in honor of her be made to Lincolnland Hospice.

Lois Ingram
TOLEDO - Lois Jean Ingram, 68, of Toledo, died at 8:17 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 27, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Toledo First Baptist Church with the Rev. William Roan officiating.
Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery, rural Spring Point Township.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Barkley Funeral Home in Toledo.
She was born April 12, 1932, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Caroline Brinkman Jackson.
She married Cleave Ingram in 1958; he survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Joe Henson of Montrose, Doug Henson and Jack Ingram, both of Toledo, and John Ingram of Sullivan; two daughters, Kathryn Elson of Terre Haute, Ind., and Norma Marshall of Toledo; one sister, Norma Smith of Champaign; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Mrs. Ingram had worked at the Cumberland Nursing Center and at Kern Manufacturing, Neoga.
She was a member of the Toledo First Baptist Church.

SULLIVAN - Karen L. Seelow, 44, of Perry, Mo., formerly of Sullivan, died Tuesday (Feb. 27, 2001) at her residence.

Woodrow Simpson
CASEY - Woodrow W. Simpson, 88, of Casey, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 27, 2001) at Heartland Manor Nursing Center in Casey.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Markwell and Son Funeral Home in Casey with Pastor Terry Blanchard officiating.
Burial will be in Partlow Cemetery in Casey.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
He was born July 24, 1912, in Carlyle, the son of James Newton and Hannah Elizabeth Cribelar Simpson.
He married Violet M. Madlem in 1942; she survives.
Also surviving are one stepson, Bob Dillier of Casey.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, eight brothers, five sisters and two infant siblings.
Mr. Simpson worked at a stone quarry and had retired from farming.
Goldie "Betty" Walker
Goldie Elizabeth "Betty" Walker, age 69, of Mattoon, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2001, at her daughter's residence.
Funeral services celebrating her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Today at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Steve Massengill officiating.
Burial will be in the Dodge Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Today at the funeral home.
Betty was born October 2, 1931, in Chesterville, a daughter of Cecil and Gladys Scott Ealy.
She married Clarence R. Walker on May 15, 1948, in Coles County.
He passed away on January 2, 1994.
She was also preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include two son, Clarence R. Walker Jr. and wife Brenda of Charleston and Troy A. Walker of Tinsley Park; three daughters, Vicki D. Archer and husband Larry of Bradenton, Fla., Doris C. Winkleblack and husband Ernie of Mattoon and Becky A. Inman and husband Chuck of Bradenton, Fla.; her mother and stepfather, Gladys Turner and husband Rob of Princeton, Ind.; one brother, Everett Ealy and wife Pat of Watseka; five sisters, Edith Fransler and husband Everett of Cerro Gordo, Shirley Spence and husband O. C., Lois Robb and husband Roy, and Donna Bullock and husband Dean, all of Princeton, Ind., and Sandy Wright and husband Bill of Patoka, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Jack Gardner, Angela Carr and husband Dennis, Amanda Winkleblack, Nathan Winkleblack, Casey Herschberger, Charles Mason, Jason Walker, Jeremy Smith and Tyler Winkleblack; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Walker was a homemaker.
Leona Brown
Ida "Leona" Brown, age 84, of Mattoon, passed away at 7:05 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2001, at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Funeral services celebrating her life will begin at Noon on Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. E. E. Elliott officiating.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Schilling Funeral Home with Rebekah rites at 7:00 p.m.
Leona was born September 18, 1916, in Coles County, a daughter of John Oliver and Bertha LeGrand Wilson.
She married Dale Russell Brown on August 11, 1935, in Neoga.
He preceded her in death on August 11, 1954.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Joe Wilson, and one sister, Jessie Easton.
Survivors include four sons, Paul Duane Brown and wife Wanda of Pinckney, Mich., James Harold Brown and wife Patricia of Mattoon, David Wilson Brown of Glen Carbon, and Glenn Alan Brown and wife Claire of Garden City, Mich.; one daughter, Caroline Brown and husband Richard Stevens of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Delores "Dee" Claybaugh Jackson of West Bend, Wisc.; ten grandchildren, Jay Brown, Rex Brown, and Tad Brown all of Mattoon and Randy, Elaine, Leticia, Tammy, Sarah, Ben and Katie; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Brown was formerly employed at Young's Department Store in Mattoon and retired from Amity Leather Products in West Bend, Wisc.
She was a member of the Pioneer Unit of Home Bureau, West Paradise Unit, First United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge Faith 805 in Etna.
