EFFINGHAM - Albert G. Reuther, 88, of Effingham, died at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 13, 2001) at the Newton Rest Haven, in Newton.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham.
Burial will be in the Oakridge Cemetery in Effingham.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
He was born March 21, 1912, in Effingham, the son of Jacob M. and Maria (Idler) Reuther.
Surviving are two brothers, Otto J. Reuther of Effingham and Jacob B. Reuther of Altamont, and two sisters, Anna Struck of Waupaca, Wis., and Clara Moore of Mattoon.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Memorials may be made to Newton Rest Haven or the donor's choice.
James Dean
KALAMAZOO, Mich. - James D. Dean, 79, of Kalamazoo, Mich., formerly of Fair Grange, died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001).
The Langeland Family Funeral Home, Kalamazoo, Mich., was in charge of the arrangements.
He was born June 7, 1921, in Fair Grange, the son of Willis and Laura DeWitt Dean.
He married Wanda Stoner in 1949; she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Gary McKee of Kalamazoo, Mich.; one brother, Edgar Dean of Millington, Tenn.; one sister, Deloris Stanford of Charleston; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Mr. Dean was an Army veteran of World War II.
He had worked for Allied Paper Co. and in 1986 retired from the Plainwell Paper Co.
He was a member of the Otsego Elks Club.

MATTOON - Deloris M. Heselton 69, of Mattoon, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home.

Charles Lloyd
SHELBYVILLE - Charles Walter "Bally" Lloyd, 85, of Shelbyville, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with Bruce Owens officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery with military rites by the Shelby County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home with 7 p.m. Masonic rites.
He was born April 9, 1915, in Shelbyville, the son of Charles C. and Grace Auld Lloyd.
He married Adeline "Sue" Harding in 1945; she died in 1999.
Surviving are one daughter, Suzanne Tate of Shelbyville, and one sister, Virginia Lloyd of Santa Rosa, Calif.
He was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Lloyd was an Army air corps veteran of World War II.
He retired as a sales manager from Oliver Corporations/White Motors Hay Tool Division Plant of Shelbyville and later became a tax accountant, and had been working for Mose-Lively-Yockey and Ford CPAs in Shelbyville.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post 81, Loyal Order of the Moose 1294, Jackson Masonic Lodge 53 AF and AM of Shelbyville, Ansar Temple of the Shrine, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Scottish Rite of Danville, Shelby County Shrine Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Mattoon and Shelby County.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Shelbyville, or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Billie Scott
LAS VEGAS - Billie Scott, 72, of Las Vegas, formerly of Mattoon, died Friday (Jan. 9, 2001) at her residence.
A memorial tribute will be conducted Feb. 23 at the Derfelt Senior Center in Las Vegas.
She was born Dec. 27, 1928, in Oklahoma, the daughter of Russell and Nina Rahe Scott.
Miss Scott had written and published a book of prose and poems.
George W. Temple Sr.
CHARLESTON, IL - George William Temple, Sr., age 89, of Charleston, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2001 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, Illinois.
Graveside services celebrating his life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 15 at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston.
George's children will receive friends and family prior to the service (from 10-11 a.m.) at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston.
George was born September 18, 1911 in Charleston, the son of Owen and Grace (Elder) Temple.
He married Martha M. Reynolds on January 26, 1945 in Charleston.
She preceded him in death on February 10, 1998.
Survivors include four children, Cheryl Lynn Yount and her husband Greg, George W. (Bill) Temple, Jr. and his wife Cindy, all of Mattoon, Iris Kay Jewell and her husband Arthur of Charleston, and Patti Bishop and her husband Bill of Shelbyville, Illinois; one brother, Kenny Temple and his wife Marylee of Effingham, Illinois; ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents, a daughter, Norma Jean Gilmore; a grandson, Gregory J. Gilmore; a granddaughter, Jean Ann Bishop, three brothers, Harold Temple, Albert Temple, Frank Temple and two sisters, Freda Blackford and June Kryzonawicz.
George was a fifteen year employee of the Charleston Brown Shoe Company plant and later served for many years as a Conductor for the Nickel Plate Railroad.
He loved to hunt, fish and talk on his CB radio.
He received much pleasure when his beloved Chicago Cubs won - and a somewhat equal pleasure when the Cardinals lost.
He was a member of Charleston Elks Lodge #623, Charleston Moose Lodge #1388 and the United Transportation Union.
George's family requests that memorials in honor of him be made to Hospice of Lincolnland.

Garold C. Woodard
SHELBYVILLE, Illinois - Garold C. Woodard, 91, of Shelbyville, died at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001 in Shelby Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Dr. Bruce Owens officiating.
Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Shelbyville or Shelby Memorial Hospital for the Extended Care Unit.
Mr. Woodard was born on November 13, 1909 in Etna, IL, the son of Grover and Nora Titus Woodard.
He worked for Ford Motor Company in Detroit before establishing the Woodard Furniture Store in Shelbyville, which he operated from 1944 to 1956.
He then managed his farm near Shelbyville until his retirement.
He was a memeber of the First United Methodist Church, Shelbyville and United Methodist Men of the church.
He married Olive Mahala Short on May 25, 1933.
She died on July 10, 1980.
He married Elnore Krummel Maxedon on June 5, 1983.
Surviving are his wife Elnore; son, Phillip Woodard and wife Dorthy Lane of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Judith Parker and husband Richard of Villa Grove; step-sons, Tom Maxedon and wife Maryjane of Oakland, Jim Maxedon and wife Barb of Naples, FL and Bill Maxedon and wife Marsha of Shelbyville; step-daughter, Nancy Goodwin and husband Gene of Gays; seven grandchildren, Pam, Paula, Patty, Cathy, Mike, Sandy and Carol; 15 step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olive; two brothers, Charles and Lewis Woodard; and sister, Elsie Costello.
John Bailey
John L. Bailey, 73, of Rushville, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
Born Jan. 28, 1928, in Hunt, Ill., he was the son of James R. and Cora E. (Adams) Bailey, both deceased.
He married Alma Bailey on Oct. 25, 1953, in Decatur, Ill.; she survives.
Mr. Bailey had resided in Rushville since 1978 and formerly resided in Decatur, Ill., for several years.
He was a 1945 graduate of Willow Hill (Ill.) High School and received a bachelor's degree in education with a pre-med major from Eastern Illinois University in 1949.
He taught high school science for a year and a half in Albion, after which time he served two years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Korean War, assigned to the Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colo.
After discharge, he was associated with GMAC (1593-1962), First National Bank of Decatur, Ill. (1962-1978), and Co-Owner Coast-to-Coast Hardware of Rushville (1978-1999).
He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rushville, Rush County HSUR Shrine Club, and BPOE #1307 of Rushville.
Formerly he was a member and secretary-treasurer of Robinson (Ill.) Kiwanis Club, past president of the Decatur (Ill.) Sertoma Club, a member of Springfield (Ill.) Ansar Shrine, Newton (Ill.) Masonic Lodge, and the Scottish Rite of Danville, Ill.
Survivors besides his wife include two sons, Michael and John, both of Rushville; one brother, Frances E. Bailey of Galesburg, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Woodyard of Charleston, Ill. and Sharon (Mrs. Frank) Nickl of Manchester, Mo.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Patrick officiating.
Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville, where military graveside services will be conducted.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville, where a memorial Shriners Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church or to the HSUR Shrine Club.
