Lois Carol Bohlen, age 79, of Mattoon, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2001 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services celebrating her life will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. E. E. Elliott officiating, assisted by the Reverend James Dona.
Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the Schilling Funeral Home.
Lois was born December 20, 1921, at Wabash County, Illinois, a daughter of Frank E. and Essie McJilton Crum.
She married Albert Dale Bohlen on April 30, 1945. He passed away on October 13, 1973.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Kathleen Dauterive and husband Lee of New Orleans, Louisiana, Georgia Anne Ryan and husband Harold of Casey, Elaine Mathias and husband Gary of Mattoon; Mindy Lisa Bohlen-Admire and husband Parry of Apex, North Carolina; one sister, Mary Esther Bolza of Tucson, Arizona; and eight grandchildren, Cameron Clesi of Metarie, Louisiana, Jeremy Ryan, Christopher Ryan and Patrick Ryan, all of Charleston, Carol Ryan of Casey, Mindy Mathias and Matt Mathias, both of Mattoon and Mariah Admire of Apex, North Carolina.
Mrs. Bohlen was a homemaker.
She attended the University of Illinois.
Lois was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Gleaner's Sunday School Class and was a Past Deaconess.
She was the co-founder of Mattoon Chapter of T.H.E.O.S. (They Heal Each Other Spiritually).
Lois was a member of the Mattoon Women's Reading Club, the American Association of University Women, Mattoon Homemakers Extension Association and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Mattoon - Lois Bohlen Hymnal Fund.
Charles Burnett
JOHNSTON CITY - Charles W. Burnett, 83, of Johnston City, died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) at his residence.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Danny Gray officiating.
Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens of Energy.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Benton, the son of Otto and Maude Echoles Burnett.
He married Ruby Webb.
He later married Nina Ferguson Kesler in 1986; she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Wendell Burnett of Herrin; four daughters, Olinda Hancock of Noblesville, Ind., Edith Null of Herrin, and DiAnne Burnett and Nancy Deason, both of Johnston City; two stepsons, John Kesler of Mattoon and Joseph Kesler of Johnston City; one stepdaughter, Kathryn Cloemay Kesler of Paducah, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two stepsons, three brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Burnett was a coal miner at Zeigler No. 4 Mine for 25 years and Freeman No. 6 Mine until his retirement.
He then worked at Jefferson School in Johnston City.
He was a member of the Pittsburg Freewill Baptist Church, the United Mine Workers and Fellowship Lodge No. 89 AF and AM of Marion.

Rev. Charles Dye
CHARLESTON - Reverend Charles Paul "Charlie" Dye, 44, of Charleston was embraced in the arms of his Heavenly Father at 7:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001 at his home.
Services celebrating his graduation into Glory will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001 at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Elder Bruce Swango officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Charlie was born October 3, 1956 in Savannah, Georgia, son of Gerald Dye and Gladys Myers-Dye.
He married Brenda Sladek May 23, 1981 in Springfield, Illinois, she survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Matthew Paul Dye and Joshua James Dye, both at home.
His parents: Jerald Dye and Gladys Myers-Dye of Mt. Pleasant, PA; three brothers: Jerry K. Dye and Timothy P. Dye, both of Mt. Pleasant, PA, and Steven J. Dye of Knoxville, TN; and one sister: Susan A. Horner of Plum Borough, PA.
Charlie was currently serving God as minister at the Bushton Christian Church.
He was active in the community, serving with the Lincoln Log Cabin Volunteer Pioneer and was a scoutmaster for Charleston Boy Scout Troop #141.

Charles Furr
SHELBYVILLE - Charles F. Furr, 87, of Shelbyville, died at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) in Shelby Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with the Rev. Kenneth E. Barlow officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Shelby County, the son of Oscar and Mattie Hayward Furr.
He married Faye Dell Edwards in 1935; she died in 1998.
Surviving are one son, Wayne Furr of Shelbyville; one daughter, Joyce Largent of Bethany; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Furr was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Shelbyville.

Brinda Carver
TOLEDO - Brinda B. Sue Carver, 47, of Toledo died at 5 a.m. Thursday (April 5, 2001) at her residence.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Barkley Funeral Home, Toledo, with Father Jeff Grant officiating.
Burial will be in Bell Cemetery in rural Greenup.
Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born May 14, 1953, in Vandalia, the daughter of Ben and Shirley Armor VanScyoc.
She married Charles R. Carver in 1978; he survives.
Also surviving are two foster daughters, Sabrina Ard of Toledo and Marlene VanScyoc of Jewett; and two half brothers, Gene VanScyoc of Charleston and Willie VanScyoc of Toledo.
Mrs. Carver was a homemaker and member of the Greenup American Legion Auxiliary.
Seith Paul
GREENUP - Seith B. Paul, 4 months, of rural Greenup, died at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday (April 4, 2001) at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Harmony Cemetery near Greenup with the Rev. Jack Turner officiating.
No visitation is planned.

He was born Nov. 27, 2000, in Mattoon, the son of Jodi Lynn Paul.
Surviving are his mother of Greenup; grandparents John and Kami Lewis of Greenup, and Janice Lewis of Neoga; and great-grandparents Bill and June England of Neoga, and George Lewis Jr.
Eloise Cutts Carrell
NEWTON - Eloise E. Cutts Carrell, 56, of Newton, died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday (April 7, 2001) at the Barkley Funeral Home in Greenup.
Burial will be in Toledo Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday (April 6, 2001) at Barkley Funeral Home in Greenup.
She was born Aug. 24, 1944, in Mattoon, a daughter of Raymond and Hollys (Rhodes) Cutts.
She married Duane Carrell on June 17, 1965; he survives.
Memorials may be made to the ICU at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Other survivors include two sons, Nathan Carrell of Baton Rouge, LA and Matthew Carrell of Milton, Fla.; one brother, Harold (Anita) Cutts of Toledo; four sisters, Karen (Don) Blade, Diane (Tom) Ettelbrick and Rita Lustig, all of Greenup and Belinda (Tom) Wampler of Franksville, Wis.; one granddaughter, Jenna Carrell of Covington, La.
Mrs. Carrell was a teacher at Newton High School for 35 years.
She graduated from E.I.U. with a Bachelor's degree and graduated from Indiana State with a Master's degree.
Mrs. Carrell was a lifelong member of the Illinois Education Association and Jasper County Education Association.
Edward "Bud" Costello
TRILLA - Edward "Bud" Costello, age 81, of Port Orange, Florida, formerly of Trilla, passed away 12:11 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2001 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001 at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Beals Cemetery, Trilla.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Edward "Bud" Costello was born January 31, 1920 in Ashland County, Wisconsin, and a son of Edward J. and Mary Grace Grezlack Costello.
He married Flora Elinor Woodard in 1964 at Dearborn, Mich., she survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Kathryn Gonder of Port Orange, Florida; two granddaughters, Lisa E. Connelly of Port Orange, Florida and Brandy A. Dawdy of Woodstock, Georgia; and a great-grandson, Jacob E. Bann of Port Orange, Florida.
A daughter, Carol Anne Dawdy and one brother, Raymond, preceded him in death.
Mr. Costello was a retired furniture finisher.
He enjoyed geology as a hobby and was a member of numerous rock and mineral organizations.
Frank Loftis
CASEY - Frank Leslie Loftis, 85, of Casey, died at 3:42 p.m. Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Markwell and Sons Funeral Home in Casey with the Rev. Danny Harper officiating.
Burial will be in the Restitution Cemetery south of Casey.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Gainesville, Mo., the son of William Curry and Maud Mae Riggs Loftis.
He married Anna Kennedy in 1941; she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Eldon Loftis of Hazel Dell and Howard Loftis of Robinson; one daughter, Wanda Brown of Casey; one brother, Claud Loftis of Theodosia, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, five brothers, three sisters and two infant grandchildren.
Mr. Loftis owned and operated Loftis Oil Well Service until 1975.
He was a member of the Moriah Church of God.
