SULLIVAN - Gerald E. "Griz" England, age 52, of Sullivan, died at 9:12 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church, Sullivan, conducted by Rev. Dr. David Leslie.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan.
Memorials suggested to the England Family Education Fund or the Moultrie County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Mr. England was born February 1, 1949, in Decatur, the son of Ernest and Mary Risley England.
He was the Moultrie County Clerk, a member of the Kiwanis Club, the C.E.F.S. Board, and attended the First Christian Church, Sullivan.
He married Georgia Purcell on June 2, 1974, in Sullivan, and she survives, along with sons, A. Michael Hoff II, of Memphis, TN, Ernest Scott England of Sullivan; daughters, Angela M. Block of Bolingbrook, IL, Jodi A. England of Decatur; grandchildren, Cailin and Ethan Block of Sullivan; his mother Mary England of Sullivan; and sisters, Carroll Sebens, Marilyn Leonard, Betty "Babe" Mode, Judy Featheringill, and Donna Holland, all of Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Junior Glosser
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. - Junior Thomas Glosser, 74, of Michigan City, Ind., formerly of Charleston, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday (April 16, 2001) at St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. David Seifert officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City, Ind.
He was born June 8, 1926, in Charleston, the son of William H. Glosser and Fannie Toops.
He married Leila Jacobsen in Michigan City, Ind.; she survives.
Also surviving are one son, Larry Glosser of Michigan City, Ind.; two daughters, Sharon Shroyer of Michigan City, Ind., and Linda Stanz of Saginaw, Mich.; two brothers, Kenneth Glosser of Charleston and James Hackett of Michigan City, Ind.; one sister, Betty Cox of Charleston; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by one twin brother, four brothers and six sisters.
Mr. Glosser was a welder for seven years at Aero-Metals.
He was a member of the IBEW.

Edward Turney
SULLIVAN - Edward "Ed" J. Turney, age 23, of Sullivan, died at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2001 in rural Sullivan.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, conducted by Pastor Paul McGhghy.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery.

Mr. Turney was born September 1, 1977 in Colorado Springs, CO, the son of James and Hui-Sun Yi Turney.
He was a set-up operator at Hydro Gear in Sullivan, and a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Sullivan.
He married Melinda Mae Elder on August 1, 1998, in Sullivan.
She survives along with their son, Jordan at home; a daughter, Adriana Stull of Cowden, IL; his father and step mother, James and Cindy Turney of Herrick, IL, his mother, Hui-Sun Turney of Killeen, TX; brothers, Jodie, Danny and James Turney all of Killeen, TX; and mother and father-in-law, Timothy and Cathy Floyd of Sullivan.
Alice Warner
SHELBYVILLE - Alice Edith Elliott Warner, 85, of Shelbyville, died at 10:59 a.m. Monday (April 16, 2001) at Shelby Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Sallee officiating.
Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born May 5, 1915, in Stewardson, the daughter of Charles and Esther Vogel Mahnke.
She married Maurice G. Elliott in 1934; he died in 1975.
She married Fred G. Warner in 1981; he died in 1995.
Surviving are one son, Richard Elliott of Shelbyville; one daughter, Margaret Hammond of Shelbyville; one sister, Vera Knierim of Decatur; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Warner was charter member of the Shelby County Home Extension and a member of the Shelby Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

Lawrence Biehler
STRASBURG - Lawrence Dean Biehler, 76, of Strasburg, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday (April 15, 2001) at his residence.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Strasburg with the Rev. Michael Mohr officiating.
Burial will be St. Paul's Cemetery, in Strasburg.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

He was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Strasburg, a son of John A. and Matilda Doeding Biehler.
He married Gail Ruth Spannagel in 1947; she survives.
Survivors include a brother, Nolen Biehler of Portland, Ore.
He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Biehler.
Mr. Biehler was an army veteran of WW II and owned and operated Biehler Hatchery in Strasburg for 30 years.
He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Strasburg, and served as the Strasburg Village Water and Sewer Superintendent for ten years.

Lillie Doolin
DANVILLE - Lillie May Stingley Doolin, 73, of Danville, died at 7:05 p.m. Saturday (April 14, 2001) at Vermilion Manor.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston.
The funeral will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakeside-Barrick Funeral Chapel in Danville, with the Rev. Herbert D. Smith officiating.
Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel in Danville.
She was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Bushton, a daughter of Wilbur and Violet Bell Hall.
She married Claude E. Stingley in 1943; he died in 1974.
She married Vincent L. Doolin in 1975; he survives.
Other survivors include three sons, George Stingley of Cannapolis, N.C., Francis Stingley and Larry Doolin, both of Danville; two daughters, Bertha Irene Baity and Mint Doolin, both of Danville; four brothers, Zollie Hall of Sterling, John Hall of Charleston, Charles Hall of Jones Mill, Ark., and Albert Hall of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Dorothy Madlen of Charleston and Norma Zigler of Normal; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry, and one brother.
Mrs. Doolin was retired from General Electric.
She was a member of the Westside Church of the Nazarene, the Danville G.E. Retirees, the American Legion Post 51 Auxiliary, United Commercial Travelers 272 and the Charleston VFW Auxiliary.
She was a volunteer at the Danville V.A. Hospital and was past state president of American War Mothers.

Robert E. Hensen
NEOGA - Robert E. Hensen, 70, of 67 Short's Drive, Neoga, Ill., formerly of Colfax and Champaign, Ill., at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2001, at his rural Neoga residence.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Mattoon, with the Rev. David Hewitt officiating.
Burial will be in Long Point Cemetery in Neoga, Ill.
Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church.
Graveside military services will be conducted by the VFW Post 4598 of Cumberland County, Ill.

He was born April 27, 1930, in Anchor, Ill., a son of Alvin and Peggy (Vance) Hensen.
He married Dee Ann Johnson on June 3, 1951 in Anchor.
Survivors include his wife, Dee Ann Hensen of rural Neoga; a son, Steven R. Hensen of Charleston, Ill.; daughters, Mrs. Alan (Sandra) Schweighart of Paxton, Ill., and Mrs. Judd (Conni) French of Longwood, Fla.; brothers, Dean Hensen of Villa Grove, Ill., and Keith Hensen of Lexington, Ill.; sister, Judy Hensen of Taylorville, Ill.; seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Hensen operated a service station in Champaign for 20 years and worked at Kraft Manufacturing Company in Champaign for 20 years retiring in 1992.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mattoon, Ill. and the American Legion Post #24 of Champaign, Ill.

Dorothy Lacey
FARINA - Dorothy Elsie Esther Lacey, 85, of Farina, died at 2:10 a.m. Saturday (April 14, 2001) at St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Farina United Methodist Church, in Farina, with the Rev. Clayton Coffey officiating.
Burial will be in the Elder Cemetery in Farina.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy and one hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
She was born Nov. 9, 1915, in Centralia, a daughter of Emil and Lillie Leonard Schneider.
She married Morris Ellsworth Lacey in 1937; he died in 1978.
Survivors include sons, Bob Lacey of Nokomis and Ed Lacey of Farina; daughters, Jean Lacey of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Annmae Boyd of Mattoon; half brother, Phil May of California; half sister, Jeanette Diphold of Farina; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lacey was a retired nurse's aide from Shriners Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
She was a member of the Farina United Methodist Church and the Meachum Quilting Club.

Anna R. Marlow Schulz
SULLIVAN, IL - Anna Ruth Marlow Schulz, age 69, of Machesney Park, IL, lost her battle with cancer on April 12, 2001.
She was born in Westbourne, TN, on May 6, 1931.
Anna has gone to join her son, Clifford Neal, parents, John F. and Litha Marlow; brother, Hoyal A. Marlow (SFC., US Army, Ret) and brothers-in-law, William H. Engle and James F. Hale in Heaven.
She and her husband, Karl H. Schulz were married in LaFollette, TN, on September 1, 1962.
In addition to her husband, she leaves to mourn, her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Ginny Neal of Davis Junction; granddaughters, Karla Jean Neal of Tennessee and Angela L. and Todd Pfab and great grandson, Jacob Pfab, all of Davis Junction; mother-in-law, Grete Schulz of Germany; sisters, Cuemyle Hale and Janice Engle of Ohio, Myonia (Joe) Stone of California; numerous nieces and nephews, and her dog, Kelly Jo.
Anna Ruth was very talented with many hobbies.
She was a wonderful cook, gardener, seamstress and quilter.
Anna and Karl had looked forward to retiring to their home in Sullivan, IL, to enjoy shared hobbies of fishing and gardening.
Anna Ruth's family wishes to thank the Parkside Nazarene Church, Pastor Orin Nelson and member Irene Bruner for their prayers and visits to Anna.
Friends, Richard and Cindy Lamb, Cindy never missed a night visiting with Anna throughout her long struggle with cancer.
Friends, Glen and Mary Tish who either called or visited daily, friends from Sullivan and Lake City, IL, who made special trips to visit Anna during her illness, Hospice nurses, Paula, Gena and others.
Hospice Social Worker, Karen and Health Aide, Beverly who was so gentle in bathing Ruth.
Each staff member was so kind and caring and provided much needed support and encouragement to Anna and her family.
Visitation at McMullin-Young Funeral Home at 503 W. Jackson, Sullivan, IL, on Tuesday, April 17 at 12:30 p.m. services at 2:30 with burial immediately afterward at the Kellar Cemetery in Lovington, IL.
