Judith Ann Seeley, age 51, of Mattoon, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001, at her home.
Memorial services celebrating her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First General Baptist Church with the Reverend Steven Gray officiating.
No visitation is planned.
The Schilling Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Judith was born February 27, 1950 in Streator, the daughter of Kenneth E. and Elizabeth Ellen Carter Parmer.
She married John R. Seeley on December 14, 1977. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kayela Gray and husband Roger and Jessica L. Seeley, all of Mattoon; her father and stepmother, Kenneth and June Parmer of Mattoon; one brother, Donald E. Parmer of Mattoon; two grandchildren, Roger L. Gray II and Mikala N. Gray, both of Mattoon; four step-grandchildren, Tyler Gray and Savannah Gray, both of Mattoon, Billi Jo Gray of Newton and Gina Gray of Danville; and special friend, Patti Sullivan of Mattoon.
She was preceded in death by her mother and two sisters, Barbara and Brenda Parmer.
Mrs. Seeley was a licensed child care provider, cosmetologist and Avon dealer.
Judith graduated from Mattoon High School in 1968 and from Lake Land College in 1975 with an Associate degree in Cosmetology.
She was a member of the First General Baptist Church, Eagles Club, and Women of the Moose.
She was also active with the P.T.A., Youth Alliance Bowling Assoc., the local 4-H, and the Mattoon Junior Football League.

EVELYN SMITH
Evelyn Lucille Smith, age 64, of Mattoon, passed away at 11:46 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2001, at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services celebrating her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Scott Kozisek officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Evelyn was born September 5, 1936 in Cumberland County, a daughter of Cayce Raymond and Ella McPherson Beck.
She married Richard L. Smith on April 13, 1951 at Toledo. He survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Jimmy Lee Smith and wife Connie of Cowden, Edward Dean Smith and wife Pam, Dennis Ray Smith, and Danny Joe Smith, all of Mattoon; one daughter, Tammy Jo Weber and husband Carl of Mattoon; four brothers, Orville E. Beck and wife June of Mattoon, Raymond Beck of Loxa, Harold Dean "Butch" Beck and wife Sherrie of Windsor and Robert Lee Beck and wife Wanda of Mattoon; one sister, Karen Sue Batson and husband Paul of rural Lerna; six grandchildren, Kevin Smith of Gays, Carl Weber and Jason Weber, both of Mattoon, Casey Applegate of Toledo, Kirshia Smith and Samantha Smith, both of Mattoon; two step-grandchildren, Tina Jordan and Matt Bullard, both of Mattoon; two step-great-grandchildren, Jenny Jordan and Shawnda Jordan, both of Mattoon; and special friend, Leroy Daniels of Coles Station.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Smith was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
She was formerly employed by the Mattoon Garment Factory for twenty two years, retiring in 1987.
She was the former owner and operator of Perry's Chuck Wagon and was employed at The Little Chef restaurants.
In keeping with her love for people she cared for numerous older residents in the community.
Evelyn was formerly a member of the Women of the Moose.
Kent Taylor
BOURBON - Kent Leroy Taylor, 48, of Bourbon died at 3:21 p.m. Saturday (April 21, 2001) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
The graveside funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bourbon Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the family residence, 642 North County Road 490 East, in Bourbon.
Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born March 21, 1953, in Monticello, the son of Kenneth L. and Marjorie A. Griffin Taylor.
He married Vickie L. Hendrickson in 1972. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, James L. Taylor of Bourbon; one daughter, Amber Woodyatt of Champaign; his mother, Marjorie Taylor of Arcola; grandmother, Velva Taylor of Lovington; two sisters, Shirley Morrison of Vernon Hills and Sharon Taylor of Mahomet; and one grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
Mr. Taylor worked for Kinder Morgan Inc. and was a member of the National Rifle Association.

Jesse Allen
MATTOON - Jesse R. Allen, 75, of Mattoon, formerly of Stonington, died at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with the Rev. Francis Hudson officiating.
Burial will be in the Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born July 4, 1925, in Stonington, the son of Wade and Pearl Bates Allen.
He married Evelyn Fisher in 1948; she died in 1988.
Surviving are three sons, Jesse Lee and Carl Allen, both of Little Rock, Ark., and Terry Allen of Charleston; one sister, JoAnn Andes of Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Mr. Allen was a retired painter and a Navy veteran.
HERBERT L. BROOKS
CHARLESTON - Herbert Lee "Herb" Brooks, age 69, of Charleston and Bradenton, Florida passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2001 at his rural Charleston home.
Services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at the Bible Center Church of Charleston, 2605 University Drive with Pastor John Best officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston.
Following the service, interment will be held in Mound Cemetery.
Herb was born January 29, 1932 in Moweaqua, Illinois the son of Herbert Bae and Dorthy (Donaldson) Brooks.
He married Darlene Oyer in 1952.
Survivors include his wife Darlene of rural Charleston; four sons, Scott Brooks and his wife Barb and Mike Brooks and his fiance Bobbi Rife, all of Charleston, David Brooks and his wife Linda of St. Louis and Doug Brooks and his wife Pat of Florissant, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Nicole Brooks and Brad Brooks of Charleston, Jennifer Brooks, David Brooks and Melissa Brooks of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Philip Brooks and Elsa Brooks of St. Louis and Thomas Riesenberger and Cameron Riesenberger of Florissant and one brother, James Brooks and his wife Margaret of Champaign, Illinois.
He was preceded by his parents and one grandchild.
Herb was a member of the Bible Center Church of Charleston.
He was a military veteran having served with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Upon graduation from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, he taught and coached Jr. High School basketball at Westfield, Dieterich and Rardin schools.
In 1966, he returned to Eastern as the Assistant Director of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Student Union and later held the position of its Director from 1967-1978.
When he retired from Eastern Illinois University in 1987, he held the position of Director of Veterans Services.
Herb was active in politics, serving on the Coles County Republican Committee, the Coles County Board and the Coles County Airport Authority and also served each of these organizations as their Chairman.
He also served on the State Board for the Vietnam Memorial Fund Committee and the Illinois Public Airport Association.
Herb was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed golfing and camping with his family.
Herb's family requests that memorials in his honor be made to the Bible Center Church of Charleston or Lincolnland Hospice.

Nancy Crum
BROCTON - Nancy C. Crum, 69, of Brocton, died at 1:53 p.m. Friday (April 20, 2001) at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
The funeral will be 9 a.m. Monday at the Brocton Christian Church with Virgil Haynes officiating.
Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery north of Paris.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Taber Funeral Home, Oakland.
She was born Dec. 7, 1931, in Brocton, the daughter of Harlin and Zella Tillie Meece Powers.
She married Joe T. Crum in 1951; he died in 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Kerry Crum of Springfield and Wes Crum of Brocton; one brother, John Powers of Brocton; one sister, Helen Wood of Brocton; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Crum was a member of the Brocton Christian Church.

Bessie Hood
LONGVIEW - Bessie R. Hood, 86, of Longview, died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday (April 19, 2001) at the Champaign County Nursing Home.
A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Oakland Cemetery with Tony Crouch officiating.
No visitation is planned.
The Taber Funeral Home, Oakland, is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Feb. 1, 1915, in Redmon, the daughter of Harry and Grace Burton Senter.
She married Glen C. Hood in 1934; he died in 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Lyle E. Hood of Nashville, Tenn., and Wayne T. Hood of Tolono; two daughters, Glenna M. Boyd of Broadland and Anne Maxwell of Longview; one sister, Glenna McQueen of Oveida, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Hood was formerly employed by the National Council of English and was a part-time clerk for the Longview Post Office.
She was a member of the Oakland Antioch Church.

BILL MALONE
Lester William "Bill" Malone, age 81, of Mattoon, formerly of Olney, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home.
Memorial services celebrating his life will begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Eugene Black officiating.
No visitation is planned.
Bill was born March 7, 1920 in Mattoon, a son of William and Gladys Sheeks Malone.
He married Jean Stevens on January 31, 1948. She survives.
Other survivors include, two brothers, Gene Lee Malone of Chicago, Charles Malone and wife Joann of Mattoon; four sisters, Betty Houpt of Terre Haute, Indiana, Dorothy Wallace and husband George and Nancy Malone, all of Mattoon, Martha Crackel and husband George of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Malone.
Mr. Malone was a World War II U.S. Marine veteran serving from 1942 to 1946.
He retired in 1982 after working thirty-five years for C.I.P.S. as a lineman in Olney.
Bill was a life member of the V.F.W and the American Legion of Olney.
He was a 32 degree Mason and Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, both of Olney.
Bill was also a member of the Richland Country Club of Olney.
He and his wife, Jean lived in Olney for fifty years before returning to Mattoon.

Pauline Morrison
ST. LOUIS, MO. - Pauline L. Morrison, 84, of St. Louis, MO, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday (April 19, 2001) in her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor, with Rev. Richard Eident officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday.
Burial will be in Ash Grove Cemetery, near Windsor.
She was born December 5, 1916, in Noble, IL, the daughter of Nathan Samuel and Christina Marie Koch Lanter.
She married Fred White December 15, 1939, in Mattoon and he died October 28, 1956.
She then married J. Paul Morrison January 18, 1958, in Olney and he preceded her in death February 11, 1983.
Surviving are sons, Fred S. White and wife Brenda of Evansville, IN, Paul J. White and wife, Kathy of Alameda, CA, and Phillip L. White and Nancy of Brentwood, CA, daughter, Linda C. Pecaut and husband Joe of St. Louis, MO; step-son Ronald Morrison and wife Jane and their family of Springfield; grandchildren, Christopher Paul White and Jacob Christopher Pecaut; step-grandson, Ernie Paul Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
