CASEY - Dottie Huddlestun Fasig, 78, of Casey, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday (April 19, 2001) at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Friendship United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Smith and John Gartelos officiating.
Burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Markwell and Son Funeral Home in Casey.
She was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Yale, the daughter of Brodie Perisho and Cyrena Farley Perisho.
She married Fred Huddlestun in 1939; he died in 1945. She married Dean Fasig in 1956; he survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Aileen Shiels of Casey; four sisters, Fon Simpson of Casey, Collene Hanners of Olney, Pearl Martin of Hidalgo and Bettie McBurney of Park Rapids, Minn.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, two brothers and one grandchild.
Mrs. Fasig was retired from Shawver's Clothing Store in Casey.
She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Ruth Adele Gritti, age 73, of Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of Mattoon, passed away at 5:06 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at the home of her son.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church with Father James Neuman celebrating.
Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Schilling Funeral Home.
Ruth was born January 2, 1928, at Three Rivers, Michigan, a daughter of Earl G. and Louise A. Marantette Houghtaling.
She married Dr. Emil J. Gritti on December 28, 1955, in Mendon, Michigan.
He passed away July 9, 1972.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include four sons, Nicholas J. Gritti of Melbourne, Florida, Christopher E. Gritti of Kingwood, Texas, Andrew A. Gritti of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Laurence E. Gritti of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; one brother, Laurence E. Houghtaling of Medford, Mass.; one sister, Barbara J. Galovan of Lawton, Michigan; and nine grandchildren.
Mrs. Gritti received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University and graduated with an R.N. from St. Camius.
She was in the Air Force from 1954-1956, serving as a surgical nurse 1st Lieutenant.
She served as nursing home administrator at Douglas Health Care in Mattoon and became a state inspector for long term care facilities in Illinois.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Mattoon.

Marguerite Heinlein
HINDSBORO - Marguerite Heinlein, 104, of Hindsboro, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at the Arcola Health Care Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Edwards Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Winch officiating.
Burial will be in the VanVoorhis Cemetery, rural Hindsboro.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 13, 1896, in Charleston, the daughter of Henry R. and Margaret J. Shoemaker Reasor.
She married Earl Heinlein in 1914; he died in 1967.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathryn Brandenburg of Arcola, Lorene Oakley of Upton, Calif., and Marjorie Davis of Arcola; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Heinlein was a librarian at Hindsboro Public Library for several years and Hindsboro's town treasurer.
She had also collected the water and light bills for the community of Hindsboro.
She was a member of the Hindsboro Christian Church and the Jolly Friendship Club.

James Raia
MATTOON - James P. "Papa" Raia, 79, of Mattoon, died at 11:09 a.m. Thursday (April 19, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Dodge Grove Cemetery with Rev. Herman Niebrugge officiating.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Josephine Cosanco Raia.
Surviving are one son, James Joseph Raia of Galena; one daughter, Betty Mae Congine of Niles; one sister, Josephine Petrelli of Bradenton, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mr. Raia retired from the resale business.
Fern Roy
NEOGA, IL - Mrs. Fern J. Roy, 87, of rural Neoga, formerly of rural Mattoon, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001, at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga, with the Rev. Judith Curry officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery, Paradise Twp., Coles County, IL.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.
She was born April 23, 1913, in Cumberland, County, IL, a daughter of Joseph Henry and Louisa I. (Peters) Price.
She married Foster L. Roy on October 22, 1939 in St. Charles, MO.
Survivors include her husband, Foster L. Roy of Neoga, IL; two sons, Vernon A. Roy and wife Jo Ann and J. Duane Roy and wife Charlene, all of Mattoon, IL; a daughter, Venness Walters and husband Don of Charleston, IL; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Roy was a housewife and homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Etna, IL, the Ladies Aid, Railroad retiree's Club and was a 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge of Mattoon.

CHARLES B. WARE
Charles B. "Charlie" Ware, age 88, of Mattoon, passed away at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the Schilling Funeral Home with Father Herman J. Niebrugge officiating.
Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery with a flag folding ceremony.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Charlie was born December 16, 1912, in Mattoon, the only son of Claude and M. Fithian Long Ware.
He married Kathryn Joan Morgan on February 20, 1943. She passed away March 19, 2000.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Myrna Higgins and Dorothy Carem, and great-granddaughter, Jamie Winchester.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula Winchester and husband David of Mattoon and Ann Easton and husband Robert of Collierville, Tenn.; three sisters, Ardith Pepperdine and Helen Hayden and husband Dick, all of Greenup, Lila Ryan of Kirkwood, Missouri; three grandsons, Jeff Winchester and wife Tina of Windsor, Greg Winchester and wife Kim of Mattoon and Aaron Easton of Collierville, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Shelley Easton of Dallas, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Dustin Rogers and Kyle Winchester of Mattoon, and Jennifer Winchester, Jessica Winchester and Melissa Winchester, all of Windsor.
Mr. Ware loved people! He was well known for helpful service in the appliance department at the Sears store in Mattoon for many years.
His main priority was his family whom he loved very much.
He was very much an outdoors person who loved to fish and hunt.
He was a U.S. Army Master Sergeant of the Signal Corps during World War II, serving in the European and Pacific Theaters and also served during the Korean War.
He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 4325, the American Legion, and former member of the Moose and the Elks.

Elizabeth Adrian
DECATUR - Elizabeth V. Adrian, 84, of Decatur, formerly of Findlay, died at 4:07 p.m. Tuesday (April 17, 2001) at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Lockart and Sons Funeral Home in Findlay, with the Rev. Raymond Roberts officiating.
Burial will be in the Findlay Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 16, 1916, near Findlay, the daughter of Oliver Aloysius and Iva Little Adrian.
Surviving are one daughter, Pat Warnick of Macon; two brothers, Carl Adrian of Moweaqua and Wayne Adrian of Findlay; one sister, Joy Adrian of Decatur; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Adrian had worked 15 years in the housekeeping department of Lincoln Manor South Nursing Home in Decatur.

THEODORE R. ALBIN
STRASBURG - Theodore "Skeet" Albin, 82, of Strasburg, died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in his residence.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday in Grace Lutheran Church, Strasburg, with the Reverend Gary Fortkamp and Reverend Michael Mohr officiating.
Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. this evening in the Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg.
Burial will be in Saint Rose Cemetery, Montrose, with military rites by VFW Post #4325 of Mattoon.
Memorials may be given to American Lung Association or Donor's choice.
Mr. Albin was born on June 11, 1918, in Neoga, the son of Stanley and Florence Royer Albin.
He was a manager for Neal Tire in Mattoon for 33 years before retiring.
He was a 1936 graduate of Neoga High School and a U.S. Army veteran of WW II serving in the Philippines.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg, VFW Post #4325 of Mattoon and American Legion of Mattoon.
He married Agnes Haskenherm and she preceded him in death.
He married Sally Wilson Meeker on October 3, 1990.
Surviving are his wife, Sally; step-son, Kenneth C. Meeker and wife Mary of Orlando, FL; step-daughter, Diane Paraiso of Strasburg; three brothers, Charles Albin of Neoga, Joe Albin of San Diego, CA and Gene Albin of Orlando, FL; step-grandchildren, Gus Paraiso, Geoff Meeker and Claire Poynter; great step-grandchildren, Taylor Paraiso; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters.
Mary Childress
OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - Mary E. Childress, 84, of Okeechobee, Fla., formerly of Charleston and Oakland, died Sunday (April 15, 2001) at the Okeechobee Health Care Facility.
No service is planned. The Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born October 28, 1916, in Oakland. She married R.M. Childress; he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Daniel C. Boggs of Okeechobee and James B. Boggs of Oscoe; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Childress was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Ashmore.
