CHARLESTON, IL - Robert "Bob" Drake, age 61 and long time Charleston businessman, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2001 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Services celebrating Bob's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2 with Reverend Jack Turner and Mr. Bob Larson officiating.
Visitation will be held this evening (Monday) from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with Masonic Services conducted by Charleston Masonic Lodge #35 AF & AM at 8:00 p.m.
Services and visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston.
Following the services on Wednesday, interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery, also in Charleston.
Bob was born July 15, 1939 in Charleston, Illinois the son of Donald and Dorothy (Smith) Drake.
He married Anita Ervin on December 31, 1960 in Dieterich, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Anita of Charleston; one daughter, Cindy Keefer and her husband Kenny of Charleston; two sons, Doug Drake and his wife Teresa and Brad Drake and his wife Wendy, all of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Derek Drake of Knoxville, Tennessee, Dustin Sloat, Kyle Keefer, Kenzie Keefer, Adam Drake, Ryan Drake and Shawn Drake, all of Charleston; four brothers, Larry Drake and his wife Martha, Steve Drake and his wife Mary, all of Charleston, Jeff Drake and his wife Sheila of Mattoon, Illinois and Mike Drake and his wife Sandra of LaGrange, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents.
Bob was a member of the First Christian Church of Charleston.
He founded Drake Roofing & Siding, Inc. and remained actively involved in the business with Anita, Doug and Brad.
Spending time with Bob, if for only a moment, would brighten one's day.
And no one reaped the benefits of this special attribute more than his family and seven grandchildren, all with whom he shared a warm and loving relationship.
His hobbies included traveling and vegetable gardening, especially raising tomatoes and sharing his produce with any and all.
He was a member of Charleston Masonic Lodge #35 AF & AM, Valley of Danville, Ansar Temple, Cornbelt Shrine Club, Charleston Moose Lodge #1388, Charleston Elks Club B.P.O.E. #623, Eagles Ambraw Aerie #3100 of Charleston and the Charleston Country Club.
Bob's family requests that memorials in his honor be made to Charleston Masonic Lodge #35 AF & AM.

GEORGE R. EVANS
CHARLESTON, IL - George R. Evans, age 61, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at his rural Charleston home.
Graveside services, with Military Rites, celebrating George's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5 at Tuscola Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Randal S. Langley officiating.
Tuscola Cemetery is located in Tuscola on the North side of U.S. Route 36.
There will be no visitation.
George was born March 31, 1940 in Leatha, Kentucky, the son of Clay and Estia (LeMasters) Evans.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-five years, Mary Elizabeth (Carroll) Evans of Charleston; one son, Ronald L. Evans and his wife Julie of Wildwood, Missouri; two grandchildren, Ryan Evans and Alexandria Evans, both of Wildwood; one sister, Peg Savage and her husband Don of Bellefontaine, Ohio; one nephew, Richard Savage and his wife Beth of Caledonia, Ohio; one niece, Shannon Schmitz and her husband John of Troy, Ohio, and one great niece, Taylor Marie Schmitz, also of Troy.
He was preceded by his parents.
George was a Veteran having served for four years with the United States Air Force, beginning in January, 1957.
Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he pursued a profession he truly enjoyed that of driving.
Since 1991, he was a driver for Ne-Co Asphalt of Charleston.
He was a member of Eagles Ambraw Aerie #2166 of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Charleston Elks B.P.O.E. #623, Charleston Masonic Lodge #35, Valley of Danville Consistory, Shriners Ansar Temple and a thirty-four year member of Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 26.
His hobby was fishing; his passion was riding his Harley-Davidson.
George will be remembered as a loving husband, a genuine friend and will be missed by those near and dear to him including his "best friends"his three Chows, Louie, PeeWee and Lucky.
In lieu of flowers, George's family requests that memorials in his honor be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Family.

Guy Fogleman
Guy Fogleman, age 85, of Toledo, died at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 1 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Barkley's Funeral Home in Greenup. The funeral will be Wednesday, May 2, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial in the Greenup Cemetery. Rev. Tim Pearce will officiate.
Guy was born January 2, 1916 in Greenup, the son of Guy and Lida Conley Fogleman. He served in the Pacific Theater in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his marriage to Eileen Wood on March 9, 1946 the couple returned to the Toledo area and began farming. They were blessed with three daughters: Jeannie, Judi, and Joyce. Guy and Eileen owned and operated their family farm until his retirement at age 80.
Guy was well known in Cumberland County for his quick wit, strong opinions, and slightly tilted cap. He was proud of his country, community and church. He loved the land, appreciated nature, and cherished his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen; daughters: Jeannie (Jim) Walters of Charleston, Judi (Howard) Markwell of Toledo, and Joyce Fogleman of Benton; grandchildren: Karen Walters of Chicago, Kurt Walters of Evanston, Courtney (Jason) Waggoner of Mattoon, Craig (Jessica) Beaumont of Toledo, Ohio, and one step-granddaughter Jordan Markwell of Toledo. Also surviving are three sisters: Flora Rikard, Ellen Wisner, Edna (Albert) Clark; sisters-in-law: Marjorie Shafer, Lois Fogleman, Susanne Fogleman; and many dear nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ernestine Cox, and three brothers Joe, John, and George.
Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church where Guy was an active participant throughout his life.
Gerald J. Huston
MATTOON - Gerald J. Huston age 91, of Mattoon, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001 at Douglas Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Dona officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard Cemetery, Beecher City, Illinois.
Gerald J. Huston was born March 9, 1910 at Cowden, Illinois, a son of James and Laura Jones Huston. He is survived by a sister, Mary Jessie Clavey of Plainsboro, New Jersey; nieces, Eileen Berry of Indiantown, Florida, Leona Kowalewitz of Indianapolis, Indiana, Zola Walls of Effingham, Illinois, Norma Manroe of Bensonville, Illinois, Marcia Ward and Cheryl Anderson both of Texas. Also surviving are nephews, Harold Scott, Broadview, Illinois, Sam Roller of Naperville, Illinois, Coy Clavey of New York, New York and Robert Scott of Mattoon, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and two nephews.
Mr. Huston assisted Robert Fuqua in farming for thirty years, retiring in 1975.
Timothy Norfleet
Timothy Wayne Joseph Norfleet, infant son of Tim Norfleet and Alisha Harrelson of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 9:25 AM Friday April 27, 2001 in St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
Timmy was born April 11, 2001 at 9:16 AM April 11, 2001 in St. John's Hospital.
Surviving are his parents Tim and Alisha of Shelbyville; grandparents: Joe and Paula Norfleet of Shelbyville, Joyce Norfleet of Monticello, IL, Toni Rinehart of Windsor, IL and Dave and Carol Harrelson of Windsor; great grandparents: Bill and Barb Harrelson of Cooks Mill, IL, Lee and Nancy Metcalf of Port Orange, FL, Dennis and Debbie Lovins of Springfield, IL; aunts Kelli Paxton of Mattoon, and April Harrelson of Windsor; uncles Dakota Rinehart of Windsor and Troy Norfleet of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by great grandparents Hubert and Myrtle Norfleet and uncle Jason Paxton.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday April 30, 2001 in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor. There will be no visitation. Robert Norfleet will officiate.
Arrangements are by Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor.
Nora Snider
OBLONG - Nora M. Pinkston Snider, 52, of Oblong, died 5:50 a.m. Sunday (April 29, 2001) at her residence.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the West Union Christian Church with Brother Tom Cooperider officiating. Burial will be in York Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
She was born July 17, 1948 in York, the daughter of Wilford G. and Mildred Jean Pinkston.
Surviving are one daughter, Mary Jean Childress of Robinson; one son, Chris Snider of Oblong; five sisters, Carole Cutright of Casey, Mindy Bubeck of West Union, Debbie Bloomer of Annapolis, Donna Parker of West York, and Donna Christine of Robinson; two brothers, Phillip Pinkston of Martinsville and Charlie Pinkston of Oblong; and three grandchildren.
Ms. Snider was a homemaker and employee of Victor Dana Corporation of Robinson. She was a member of the West Union Christian Church and Marshall Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
Memorials may be made to the West Union Christian Church of Hospice of Lincolnland.
LARRY WELCH
Larry Welch, age 61, of rural Mattoon, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Lana Robyne officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. this (Monday) evening at the funeral home.
Larry was born January 12, 1940 in Mattoon, the son of George and Mary (Cindy) Welch. Survivors include his mother, Mary Welch of rural Mattoon; one brother, George Welch and wife Ruth of North Hollywood, Calif.; three sisters, Sandy Brandon of Shelbina, Mo., Judy Welch and husband Mick of Mattoon, Sharon Woodyard and husband Marion of Cypress, Texas; two nephews and eight nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Larry graduated from Mattoon High School in 1957. He lived in California for 30 years, working for Anderson-Winn Paper Co., retiring as Vice-President and Sales Representative in 1992, when he returned home to Mattoon to make his home with his mother. He received a gunshot wound while in California, trying to assist a friend and neighbor. As a result of blood transfusions, he acquired Hepatitis C, and consequently, liver cancer and diabetes. He was on the liver transplant list, but as a result of the limited organ availability and the progression of cancer was unable to proceed. The family encourages everyone to become organ donors.
Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Foundation.
Lester Wolfe
LOVINGTON - Lester Robert Wolfe, 54, of Lovington, died at 7:34 p.m. Saturday (April 28 2001) at his residence.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Lovington. Burial will be in Turner Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Tuesday.
He was born March 18, 1947 in Tuscola, the son of Lester W. and Irene Chessman Wolfe. He married Nancy L. Wolfe in 1990. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Irene Wolfe of Hammond; two sons, William Albert Wolfe of Lovington and David Alan Wolfe of Atwood; one daughter, Tina Irene Wolfe of San Juan Pueblo, N.M.; one sister, Sandra Irene Barcus of Atwood; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Wolfe was a farmer and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Hammond and Lovington American Legion Post #429.
Memorials may be made to the Moultrie County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
Goldie Bahney
TOLEDO - Goldie J. Bahney, 68, of Mattoon, died at 8:21 p.m. Thursday (April 26, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. The Barkley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born May 3, 1932, in Dudley, Mo., the daughter of William and Christina May Hill. She married Homer Bahney in 1980; he died in 1995.
Surviving are three sons, Randy, Dean and Jerry Lock, all of Toledo; one daughter, Donna Sinde of Lerna; two stepsons, Homer Bahney Jr. of Jewett and Jack Bahney of Shelbyville; six grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 13
step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Mrs. Bahney was a clothing seamstress.
Donna Conner
EFFINGHAM - Donna Conner, 59, of Effingham, died at 10:43 p.m. Thursday (April 26, 2001) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pagel Funeral Home in Watson. Burial will be in the Oakridge Cemetery, Effingham. No visitation is planned.
She was born Dec. 26, 1941, in Effingham, the daughter of Donald F. and Myrtle Martin Kissinger. She married Melvin W. Conner in 1979; he survives.
Also surviving are her father; three sons, Doug Pocrnich of Dieterich, and Nolan and Monte Pocrnich, both of Effingham; four daughters, Teresa Garnee of Anderson, Ind., Brenda Dagen of Beecher City, Michelle Black of Windsor and Jesse Conner of Effingham; three sisters, Erma Eaton of Effingham, Vickie Cox of Tennessee and Rita Loy of Watson; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Mrs. Conner retired as a cashier from Speedway. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Effingham.
