88 year old Geff resident, Winona Best, died at 11:55 p.m. Saturday, June 25th, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Il.
Among her survivors is her husband John; and a daughter, Cathy Barnfield of Geff; a son, Dean Best of Fairfield, seven grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Winona Best were at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30th at the Brown CP Church near Mt. Erie, IL.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the Brown CP Church with burial at Brown Cemetery.
The Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield was in charge of the arrangements.
Fred Oren Rost
90-year-old Marshfield, Mo. resident, Fred Oren Rost died on Friday, June 24, 2005. He had been a farmer and carpenter and attended the Black Oak Freewill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Larry Rost and wife Katie of Fairfield; a daughter-in-law, Karen Rost of Seymour, Mo., a sister, Beulah Farr of Marshfield, Mo., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services for Fred Oren Rost were held on Wednesday, June 29, at the Day Funeral Home in Marshfield, Mo. with burial in Marshfield Cemetery.
Alta Vivian Manahan
90-year-old Fairfield resident, Alta Vivian Manahan died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2005 at WayFair in Fairfield.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Jane Feller of Fairfield and several nieces and nephews.
The body was cremated - Interment of ashes will be announced at a later date.

Paul Eugene Johnson
91 year old Rt. 5 McLeansboro resident, Paul Eugene Johnson, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, June 26th, 2005 at his home. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Hamilton County Highway Department.
Survivors include sons, Jerry and Paul Johnson of McLeansboro and Robert Johnson of Thompsonville; a daughter, Ruth Ann Sheraden of Carmi; a sister, Marcella Walker of Benton; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Paul Eugene Johnson were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with burial in Braden Valley Cemetery near McLeansboro.

Bob Christy
Former Fairfield resident, Bob Christy of Phoenix, Arizonadied Sunday, June 26, 2005 at Baptist Hospital in Phoenix.
Survivors include his wife, the former Pat Frytz of Lebanon, Il., and two children, Janice Munoz of Brookline, Mass., and Brent Christy of Glendale, Az., and four grandchildren.

Ronald Dean Carter
58 year old Carmi resident, Ronald Dean Carter, died at 7:14 a.m. Saturday, June 25th, 2005 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. He was a heating, air conditioning and plumbing serviceman, and a bus driver for the White County schools.
Surviving are his wife Marilyn; his father and step-mother, William S. "Bill" and Charlene Carter of Mill Shoals; a daughter, Charlotte Nipper of Carmi; a son, Wayne Carter of Mill Shoals; and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ronald Dean Carter were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 29th at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial in Burnt Prarie Cemetery.

Gregory Leon Dozier
44 year old Fairfield resident, Gregory Leon Dozier, died Friday evening, June 24th, 2005 at the home of his parents in Burnt Prarie. He was a belt mechanic at the White County Coal Patiki Mine, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years.
Surviving are his wife Kim; his parents, Carroll and Reva Dozier of Burnt Prarie; a son, Neil Dozier, and 2 daughters, Nicole JaLee and Haley Shay Dozier, all at home; a brother, Dean Dozier of Enfield; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles also survive.
Funeral services for Gregory Leon Dozier were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28th at the Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Fairfield, with military graveside rites conducted by the combined veterans units of the Carmi VFW Post #3851 and the American Legion Post #224.

Rev. Donald Louis Breeze
78 year old Bluford resident, Rev. Donald Louis Breeze, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 25th, 2005 at his home. He was retired from the Illinois Central Railroad in Bluford, and later worked in Mt. Vernon, serving as Webber Township Tax Assessor. He was also a General Baptist Pastor and ministered several churches in Wayne and Jefferson counties, and served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and the Korean conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Edna Faye Breeze; 3 sons, George Breeze, Donald E. Breeze and Darrell Breeze, all of Mt. Vernon, Il.; a daughter, Betty Cluck of Bluford; 3 sisters, Betty Albright of Mt. Vernon, Il., Peggy Joyce Porter of Bluford and Opal Blake of Phoenix, Arizona; 3 brothers, Ronald Breeze of Wayne City, Dean Edward Breeze of Fairfield and Gale Breeze of Bluford; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

93-year-old former Albion resident, Geraldine Crawford Hambly of Elmhurst, IL died at 2:30 p.m. June 21, 2005 at the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Flynn of Lemont, IL, and Marily Stangeland of Downers Grover, IL; a sister Cecil Young of Grayville, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Geraldine Crawford Hambly were at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25 at Nales Funeral Home in Albion.
Visitation was at 2 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday, June 25th.

56-year-old former McLeansboro resident, Terry Moore of Corning, Arkansas died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at his home.
Survivors include four daughters, Tammy Baker, Karen Jackson and Denise Rush all of Corning, AR and Kelly Depeugh of McLeansboro; two sisters, Darlene Cochran of Corning, AR and Lorene Stanley of Centralia, IL, 8 grandchildren and 1 step grandchild.
Graveside services for Terry Moore were at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery near McLeansboro. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
