ARCOLA - Clara M. Helmuth, 75, or Arthur, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday (April 25, 2001) at her residence.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pleasant View Church in rural Arcola with Bishop Howard Kuhns officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Midland, Mich., the daughter of Menno and Catherine J. Helmuth Miller, and was adopted by Noah and Mattie Miller Helmuth. She married Enos J. Helmuth in 1945; he survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Floyd Joseph Helmuth of Bloomingdale, Mich., and Raymond Helmuth and Allen Helmuth, both of Arthur; three daughters, Mary Anna Petersheim of Humboldt, and Shirley Kay Herschberger and Ellen Schrock, both of Arthur; one brother, Floyd M. Helmuth of Tyler, Texas; three sisters, Wilma Rogers of Hope, Mich., Fannie Lengacher of Sarasota, Fla., and Katie Prough of Goshen, Ind.; 26 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Helmuth was a member of the Pleasant View Church in rural Arcola.
Mabel McKerrow
NEOGA - Mabel E. McKerrow, 90, of Neoga, formerly of Chicago, died at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday (April 24, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga with the Rev. Steve Massengill officiating. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Oakridge Cemetery in Hillside.
She was born March 29, 1911, in Chicago, the daughter of William and Sophie Federer Tjardes. She married Glenn W. McKerrow in 1935; he died in 1960.
Surviving are two sons, Scott McKerrow of Mattoon and Rob McKerrow of Neoga; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McKerrow was a homemaker and attended the First Christian Church in Neoga.
Memorials may be made to the Heartland Christian Village in Neoga.
Leo Mahnke
SHELBYVILLE - The Rev. Leo F. Mahnke, 84, of Shelbyville, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday (April 25, 2001) in Shelbyville Manor.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cowden Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Smith, the Rev. Barry Long and the Rev. David Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Howe and Yockey

He was born May 17, 1916, in Stewardson, the son of Fredrick E.R. and Eva Mae Devore Mahnke. He married Ethel Hudson in 1936; she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Richard L. Mahnke of Princeton and Dale R. Mahnke of Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one grandchild.
Rev. Mahnke was a minister for 15 years in churches in Tower Hill, Fancher, Salem, Lincoln and Effingham. He was also a retired farmer. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church for 62 years.

Dan O'Dell
CLEARWATER, FL. - Dan P. O'Dell, 58, of Clearwater, Fla., died Tuesday (April 24, 2001) at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.
He was born Oct. 22, 1942, in Mattoon, IL, a son of William R. and Juanita Baker O'Dell. He moved to the Orlando area from Mattoon in 1982 and to Clearwater in 1991. He was a licensed Funeral Director in Illinois and Florida and the Manager of the Moss-Feaster Funeral Home on Belcher Road in Clearwater. Dan graduated from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1968 after serving three years in the United States Army. He attended the Light of Christ Catholic Church, was a member of the Clearwater Country Club, Knights of Columbus Council #3580 Clearwater and was active for many years in the United Way Campaigns.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen S.; a son, Keith T. of Chicago; a daughter, Denise R. of Chicago; two brothers, Joe E. O'Dell of Neoga, IL and David O'Dell of Mattoon, IL.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Moss-Feaster Funeral Home, 693 South Belcher Road, Clearwater, FL, with a 7 p.m. Wake Service. A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be 10 a.m. on Friday at the Light of Christ Catholic Church in Clearwater, FL. A second visitation will be 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday at the Woodlawn Memorial Funeral Home in Orlando, FL, with a service starting at Noon. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, Catholic Charities or a charity of your choice.
Patty Simpson
CASEY - Patty Ann Simpson, 60, of Casey, died at 12:09 a.m. Wednesday (April 25, 2001) at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Markwell and Son Funeral Home in Casey with the Rev. Steve Green officiating. Burial will be in Mount Cemetery, southeast of Casey. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 2, 1941, in Union Center, the daughter of Cleo and Lida Black Tipsword. She married Edward Simpson in 1959; he survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Lida Tipsword of Casey; two sons, Toby Simpson of Greenfield, Ind., and Michael Simpson of Manchester, Mo.; two brothers, Dick and William Tipsword, both of Casey; four sisters, Clara Walters and Bonnie Tiffin, both of Casey, Mae Brown of Greenup and Barbara Hanley of Topaz, Ariz.; and five
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Simpson had worked at Ettlebrick Shoe Factory and was a homemaker.

FINDLAY - Edna Enoch, 79, of Findlay, died at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday (April 24, 2001) in the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lockart and Son Funeral Home in Findlay. Burial will be in Findlay Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Saturday until service time at the funeral home.
She was born June 30, 1921, in Ava, the daughter of Benjamin and Dora Warhousen Winterberg. She married Paul Enoch in 1943; he died in 2000.
Surviving are one son, Paul Eugene Enoch of Pontoon Beach; one daughter, Judy Bates of Mattoon; two brothers, Raymond Winterberg of Glen Carbon and George Winterberg of Granite City; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son and one sister.
She was a homemaker and member of the Christian Church of Findlay.
