Howard Gillum

CHARLESTON - Howard Gillum, 79, of Charleston died Saturday (May
19, 2001) at the Danville Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

A service will take place at a later date. The Adams Funeral Chapel is in
charge of arrangements.

He was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Connaut, Ohio, the son of William and
Gertrude Bodenbender Gillum. He married Betty Woods in 1947; she
preceded him in death.

Survivors include one son, William Gillum of Charleston.

He was also preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.

Mr. Gillum had retired from the Norfolk and Western Railroad as an
engineer and was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member
of Northside Baptist Church in Charleston and the Paul McVey VFW Post
1592 of Charleston.

Memorials may be made to donor's choice in care of Adams Funeral
Chapel.

Eileen Rogers

LIBERTY, Mo. - Eileen Mills Rogers, 77, of Liberty, Mo., formerly of
Charleston, died Saturday (May 19, 2001) in Liberty, Mo.

A graveside service will take place at 3 p.m. today at the Mechanicsburg
Cemetery in Mechanicsburg. The Park Lawn Funeral Home , Kansas City,
Mo., is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Charleston, a daughter of Donald and Stella
Sexton Mills. She married Lee Rogers in 1960; he died in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Maas of Kansas City; two brothers,
Donald Mills of Joliet and Max Mills of Charleston; a sister, Joanne Brady
of Charleston; one grandchild; and a step-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Moose Lodge in Edwardsville and a
50-year member of the VFW Post 1592 Ladies Auxiliary in Charleston.

Lora Schoppe

TUSCOLA - Lora M. Schoppe, 95, of Tuscola died at 5:06 p.m. Sunday
(May 20, 2001) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral
Home in Tuscola with the Rev. Kenneth Roedder officiating. Burial will be
in Camargo Cemetery, Camargo. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the
funeral home.

She was born Feb. 16, 1906, in Monticello, a daughter of Harvey and
Minnie Jones Bridges. She married Clarence Collins. After his death, she
married William Norris, and he also preceded her in death. She married
Edward F. Schoppe in 1936; he died in 1970.

Survivors include three daughters, Clara Mae Rhoades of Tuscola, Viola
M. Richardson of Decatur and Ethel M. McClellan of Mahomet; two
stepdaughters, Dorothy Bowles of Villa Grove and Edith Winberg of Gays;
13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Schoppe was a member of the Tuscola United Church of Christ and
the Villa Grove VFW Auxiliary.

Memorials may be made to Tuscola United Church of Christ.

Richard E. Adair

MATTOON­ - Richard E. Adair, age 74, of Mattoon, passed away at 3:00
p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2001 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at the
First United Methodist Church with Reverend Ronald Dickinson and
Reverend Eugene Black officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn
Cemetery, Charleston with military rites by the Honor Guard of Charleston
Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul McVey Post 1592. Visitation will be from
5:00-8:00 p.m. this evening at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.

Richard E. Adair was born February 1, 1927 at Charleston, Illinois, a son
of Frank H. and Bernice T. Carrell Adair. He married Janette Woodruff
August 8, 1948 at Mattoon, she survives. Also surviving are his children,
Frank Adair and his wife Patricia of Biloxi, Mississippi and Denise Buckley
and her husband Michael P. of Laura, Illinois. Mr. Adair also leaves his
grandchildren, Patrick, Kelly, and Sarah; and step-grandchildren Joanna,
James, Joshua, Jason, Brandi, Jarrod and James. His parents, two
grandchildren and one sister, Joan Gaspar, preceded him in death.

Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church and taught the
Champion Sunday School Class for five years. He served in the United
States Marine Corps attaining the rank of Sergeant. His military career took
him to the South Pacific and also saw him participate in the occupation of
Japan. Mr. Adair was a former principal of Valley High School in Fairview,
Illinois and later was superintendent of the Astoria School. Richard retired
in 1988 as superintendent of Geff School after serving 39 years as a
schoolteacher and administrator. Mr. Adair was an Eagle Scout, a member
of Veterans of Foreign Wars Paul McVey Post 1592 in Charleston, and the
Eagles and Moose lodges in Mattoon.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Champion Sunday
School Class of the First United Methodist Church.

Stephen Allison

CASEY­ - Stephen L. Allison, age 58, of Casey, passed away at 10:30 a.m.
Friday, May 18, 2001, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of The Nazarene
in Casey with the Pastor Steve Greene and Pastor David Vaughn
officiating. Burial will be in Casey-Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation will be
from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church. Markwell & Son Funeral Home of
Casey is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Allison was born in Tuscola, Illinois on October 18, 1942 the first child
of Quincy Lee and Melba Joyce Allison. He attended the Tuscola schools
and graduated from Tuscola Community High School. He graduated from
Eastern Illinois University in 1964 with a B.S. degree in accounting. He was
a certified public accountant and a partner in the public accounting firm
Larsson, Woodyard & Henson, LLP since 1973. He served with the U.S.
Army in 1966-68. He married Janet R. Charnetzki on November 26, 1964
in Tuscola.

Surviving are his wife, Jan Allison of Casey; daughter, Suzanne A. Davis
and husband Philip of Tuscola; son, Michael S. Allison of Casey; parents,
Lee and Joyce Allison of Tuscola; mother-in-law, Marie Charnetzki of
Casey; brother, James Allison and his wife Glenda of Lincoln; sisters,
Melody Barber and husband Jay and Mary Jane Ogden and husband Jeff,
all of Tuscola; sister-in-law, Ann Carrell of Tuscola; and daughter-in-law,
Sarah Allison of Mattoon.

He was preceded in death by his son, Troy E. Allison on January 5, 1999
and father-in-law, Carl Charnetzki.

Mr. Allison was a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the
Illinois CPA Society. He was a member and past president of the Casey
Chamber of Commerce, the Casey Rotary Club, and Casey Babe Ruth
Baseball. He was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.

He was a member of the American Legion and Promise Keepers. He
attended the Community Christian Church in Casey where he was a charter
member and elder.

He played baseball in the EI League, the Mid-State League, and for the Ft.
Sill Cannoneers.

Colorado Springs, Colorado 80995 or the donor's choice.

Gladys Conn

TUSCOLA - Gladys R. Conn, 100, of Tuscola, died at 8:32 a.m. Sunday
(May 20, 2001) at the Arthur Home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral
Home in Tuscola with the Rev. Clyde Snyder officiating. Burial will be in
Tuscola Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time.

She was born Dec. 4, 1900, in Winona, Minn., the daughter of Mark and
Susie Johnson Haling. She married Claud Gordon Conn in 1922. He
survives.

Also surviving are one son Mark Conn of Tuscola; three daughters, Hazel
Navel of Oakland, Marjorie Bowles and Ruth Benner, both of Tuscola; and
20 grandchildren 47 great-grandchildren and many
great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers and two
step-sisters.

Mrs. Conn was a former school teacher and homemaker. She was a
member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Tuscola United Methodist Church.

Christina Craig

CASEY - Christina Sue Craig, 47, of Casey, died at 5:56 a.m. Saturday
(May 19, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenwell Funeral Home with
the Rev. Curtis Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 6, 1953, in Mattoon, the daughter of Chester and Olive
Seetes Albert. She married Ronald Craig in 1971. He survives.

Also surviving are special niece Amanda Phillippi; two brothers, Darrell
Albert and Terry Albert, both of Greenup; and two sisters, Barbara Phillippi
of Greenup and Betty Budd of Chicago.

She was preceded in death by one daughter.

Mrs. Craig was a member of the First Baptist Church of Casey.

Robert Hendrickson

Robert "Bob" Eugene Hendrickson, 74, of Chesterville, died at 10:06 PM
Saturday, May 19, 2001 at his residence in Chesterville.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 23, 2001
at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust, Arcola, with Rev. Robert Nolen
officiating. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held
from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hendrickson was born March 14, 1927 in Decatur, a son of Harold
and Ruth Moessner Hendrickson.

He is survived by his wife, Madeline Whitley of Chesterville, 2 sons,
Harold Hendrickson and wife Lou of Mattoon; Ricky Henderson of
Chesterville, stepson, James Whitley of Chesterville; 2 daughters, Bobbie
Long of Chesterville, Tina Kemper and husband Dan of Mattoon, 3
stepdaughters, Patsy Turner of Mattoon, Debbie Culver and husband Jack
of Jacksonville, Cindy Titus and husband Ed of Greenup; 11 grandchildren;
and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, and 1
grandchild.

Mr. Hendrickson was the first freshman to letter in football at Arthur High
School. He followed in his father's footsteps hauling milk. He met and
raced with Marty Robbins in Nashville and Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He
owned and operated Bob's Antiques in Chesterville for 32 years.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Earl Wagner

SULLIVAN - Earl Walter Wagner, 87, of Sullivan, died on Thursday, May
17, 2001, in rural Sullivan.

Graveside memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Greenhill
Cemetery, Sullivan, there will be no visitation. Memorials: Sullivan
Ambulance Dept. Sullivan. McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan is in
charge of arrangements.

Mr. Wagner was born on February 2, 1914, in Tell City, IN, the son of
William and Anna Daum Wagner. He was a retired auto mechanic and
farmer, he was in the Army during WW II, a member of the First United
Methodist Church, Sullivan. He married Helen Lorene Woodruff on April
25, 1937, in Sullivan and she survives.

Also surviving him is a daughter, Ann Earlene Tex and husband Nick of
Springfield; grandchildren: Tony, Chris, Johnatan and David Tex, brother,
Edgar Wagner of Muncie, IN; sister, Ada Hawley of Louisville, KY.

He was preceded in death by one sister; two brothers.

Arthur Brandvold

SPRING VALLEY, Wis. - Arthur W. Brandvold, age 98, formerly of
Wilson, Wis., died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (May 17, 2001) at the Spring
Valley Health Care Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Wilson Norwegian Lutheran
Church. Burial will be in Wilson Norwegian Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Keehr Funeral
Home of Spring Valley, Wis., is in charge of the arrangements.

He was born Oct. 14, 1903, in Menomonie, Wis., the son of Kristian and
Mary Christanson Brandvold. He married Linda Jackson in 1924; she
preceded him in death. He married Doris Kaffbeck in 1971; she survives.

Also surviving are one son, William J. Brandvold of Mattoon; four
grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two
great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons and one brother.

Mr. Brandvold owned and operated an IGA grocery for 34 years until his
retirement in 1972. He served on the Board of Directors for the Spring
Lake Telephone Co. for 15 years, was Wilson village clerk for 32 years,
and was a lifetime member of the Wilson Norwegian Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be made to the Wilson Norwegian Lutheran Church,
Wilson, WI 54207.
