Mildred Gordon

FREMONT, CALIF.- Mildred Edith (Shewmake) Perry Whitley Gordon,
78, of Fremont, Calif., formerly of Shelbyville, died Nov. 12, 2000.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Cemetery in
Shelbyville with the Dr. Bruce Owens officiating. Following the service,
there will be a gathering of friends and family at the 4-H Club Building in
Shelbyville. Howe & Yockey Funeral Home is in charge of the
arrangements.

She was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Windsor, the daughter of Walter and
Evelyn Henderson Shewmake.

Surviving are two sons, John Samuel Perry of Neoga and David Lee Perry
of Lancaster, Calif.; one daughter, Jacki Lynne Hammond of Yuma, Ariz.;
nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, one son and two
great-grandchildren.

James Mettenbrink

PEORIA - James Arthur Mettenbrink, 62, of Peoria, died at 10:01 p.m.
Monday (May 14, 2001) at his residence.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Neoga Free Methodist
Church with the Rev. Steve Massengil officiating. Burial of ashes will be in
Harmony Cemetery in Greenup.

He was born April 23, 1939, in Hastings, Neb., the son of Rudolph F.
Mettenbrink and Dorothea Pauly. He married Lela M. Grissom in 1990;
she survives.

Also surviving are one stepson, Allen C. Campbell of Lake Mattoon; one
stepdaughter, Sherlyn K. Hall of Lake Mattoon; one brother, Harold W.
Mettenbrink of Sioux City, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one stepson.

Mr. Mettenbrink worked as a cemetery and funeral pre-arrangement
representative in the Peoria area. He last worked as a sales representative
for IOF Foresters Insurance Company. He attended the Calvary Temple
Assembly of God in Peoria. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to the Neoga Free Methodist Church Building
Fund.

Woodrow Moran

ALLENVILLE - Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Moran, 86, of Allenville, died
at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2001, in his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the McMullin-Young
Funeral Home, Sullivan, with the Rev. Henry Graham officiating. Visitation
will be anytime after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will
be with military rites in the French Cemetery, Allenville. Memorials: To the
family.

Mr. Moran was born on August 4, 1914, in Sullivan, the son of Jesse E.
and Kate Jones Moran. He was a veteran of World War II and served in
the Pacific Theater. He was a retired teamster with the local #26 in
Danville. Former owner of the Sullivan boat shop. Member of the Mt. Zion
General Baptist Church, Mattoon, a member of the ATA, ITA, NRA, Illini
Indians, American Legion Post #68 Sullivan, Charleston Gun Club,
Windsor Gun Club, Shriners, and Masons. He married Marie B. Bement on
July 31, 1936, in St. Louis and she survives.

Also surviving are 3 sons; Larry Moran and wife Jackie of Allenville, Calvin
Moran of Mattoon, Donald Moran and wife Becky of Allenville. 11
grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed trapshooting, hunting, fishing and being around his family and
kids and grandkids.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; six sisters.

Roscoe Barnes

JEWETT - Roscoe F. Barnes, 88, of Jewett died at 7:10 p.m. Monday
(May 14, 2001) at the Cumberland Nursing Center in Greenup.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bishop Funeral Home in
Greenup with the Rev. Tim Pearce officiating. Burial will be in Jewett
Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. with Masonic rites at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born July 28, 1912, in Dennison, a son of Herbert and Nellie
Mason Barnes. He married Calla Greeson in 1933; she died in 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Ronnie, Ernie and Harold Barnes, all of
Jewett; one brother, Roy Barnes of Jewett; one sister, Grace Fogle of
Toledo; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter and two brothers.

Mr. Barnes was a retired farmer and a retired supervisor from Fedders
Corp. in Effingham. He was the Woodbury Township supervisor for more
than 20 years, a member of the county board and a life member of the
Toledo Masonic Lodge No. 834.

Memorials may be made to the Jewett Community Church.

Irene Brandenburg

ETNA, Ill. - Mrs. H. Irene Brandenburg, 81, of Etna, Illinois, died at 5:21
a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles
County, Ill.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home,
Neoga, with the Rev. Judy Curry officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill
Cemetery, Paradise Township, Coles County, Ill. Visitation will be after 5
p.m. Thursday at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home.

She was born April 12, 1920, in Casey, Ill. She married Leland F.
Brandenburg on Dec. 27, 1937, in Terre Haute, Ind.; he passed away on
Dec. 1, 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Victor Brandenburg and wife Sheryl of rural
Neoga and Lymar Brandenburg and wife JoAnn of rural Windsor, Ill.; three
daughters, Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Gorden of Mattoon, Ill., Mrs. Howard
(Lorraine) Baker of rural Neoga and Mrs. Paul (June) Voegel of rural Gays,
Ill.; a grandson she and her husband raised, Jeff Brandenburg of Sullivan,
Ill.; one brother, Earl Reinbolt of Metcalf, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Doris
Lockart of Robinson, Ill.; 20 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Machael Brandenburg; one sister;
one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Brandenburg was a housewife and homemaker, she was always
available and willing to assist anyone in her community. Her hobbies
included sewing and quilting. She was a member of the Etna United
Methodist Church of Etna, Ill., and United Methodist Women.

Memorials may be made to the Etna United Methodist Church, Etna, Ill.

Jesse Fuller

MATTOON - Jesse L. "Bud" Fuller, 76, of Mattoon died at 3:25 p.m.
Monday (May 14, 2001) at Douglas Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Private burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m.
today at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.

He was born Aug. 7, 1924, in Mattoon, the son of Russell L. and Faye C.
Waggoner Fuller. He married Frances Hutson in 1945; she survives.

Other survivors include a son, Gary Fuller of Mattoon; one daughter,
Sandra Simpson of Bloomington; two brothers, Everett Fuller of Mattoon
and Don Fuller of California; one sister, Marie Woolems of Texas City,
Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Fuller was retired from General Electric. He was a member of the
Mattoon Eagles Lodge.

Norma McConaha

EFFINGHAM - Norma L. McConaha, 62, of Effingham died Friday (May
11, 2001) at her residence.

A private family service will be conducted. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday
in Scott Cemetery six miles south of Dieterich. Wright Funeral Home in
Dieterich is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Aug. 15, 1939, in Mattoon, a daughter of Raymond and
Minnie Salts McConaha.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Joe Edwards of Manchester, Tenn.,
Charles Raymond of Norris City and Dewell Earl of Grayville; two
daughters, Linda Lake of Wheeler and Jewell Ballew of Manchester,
Tenn.; two brothers, Frank McConaha of Mattoon and John McConaha of
Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Flieda Skyles of Missouri; and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter.

She was an employee of Sav-A-Lot.

Roy Miller

GREENUP - Roy Miller, 85, of Greenup died at 2:27 p.m. Monday (May
14, 2001) at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Barkley Funeral Home in
Greenup with the Rev. Tim Pearce officiating. Burial will be in Greenup
Cemetery with military rites by the VFW Post 4598. Visitation will be 6-8
p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born March 27, 1916, in Hunt City, a son of Eli and Cora Cruse
Miller. He married Bernice Mitchell in 1937; she survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Bill Miller of Oblong, Rusty Miller of
Casey and Leroy Miller of Greenup; two daughters, Diana Parsons of
Birmingham, Ala., and Cheryl Nichols of Jewett; 15 grandchildren and 20
great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and a
great-grandchild.

Mr. Miller was a retired custodian for Ettelbrick Shoe and the Cumberland
School District for many years. He was a WW II Army veteran and a
member of Greenup VFW Post 4598 and the Disabled American Veterans.

Nancy Motley

KANSAS - Nancy A. Motley, 55, of Kansas died at 5:18 a.m. Tuesday
(May 15, 2001) at Paris Community Hospital in Paris.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Kansas Christian Church.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Kansas. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m.
Thursday at the church. Stewart and Carroll Funeral Home in Paris is in
charge of arrangements.

She was born Aug. 14, 1945, in Paris, the daughter of Wayne and Ruby
Whetstone Wilson. She married James D. Motley in 1964. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Robert D. Motley of Kansas and Chad W.
Motley of Columbia, Mo.; one brother, Robert W. Wilson of Charleston;
one sister, Kerri Robinson of Marshall; and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Motley was a church secretary at the Kansas Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to the Kansas Christian Church.

CLYDE WARNER

CHARLESTON, IL - Clyde Warner, age 74 and long-time area farmer, of
rural Charleston, went to be with his wife and best friend of forty-six years
on Sunday, May 13, 2001 at Prairie View Care Center of Charleston.
Services celebrating his life will be held today (Wednesday), May 16, at
10:00 a.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston.
Reverend David L. Birch will officiate. Following the services interment
will be held in Roselawn Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation was held last
evening (Tuesday) from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with Masonic Rites being
conducted at the close of visitation by Charleston Lodge #35 AF & AM.

Clyde was born July 14, 1926 in Mercer County, Kentucky, the son of
Thomas Jefferson and Eddie (Davenport) Warner. He married Wanda Mae
Swango on September 17, 1949 in Sullivan, Illinois. She preceded him on
May 26, 1996.

Survivors include two sons, Terry L. Warner and Tony A. Warner and his
wife Janna of Charleston; six grandchildren, Laura K. Becker and Libby
Warner of Mattoon, Amanda Sanders and her husband Billy, Ashley
Warner and Bradley Warner, of Charleston and Sarah M. Philpott and her
husband Joe of Lerna, Illinois; six great-grandchildren, Delaney Kay Porter
and Hunter Wesley Warner of Mattoon, Cole Thomas Philpott and Emma
Mae Philpott of Lerna, and Blake Alan Sanders and Tyler Gene Sanders of
Charleston, and two sisters, Frances Vandeveer of Sullivan, Illinois and
Nancy Ristow of Seattle, Washington. He was preceded by his parents, his
wife Wanda and one sister.

Clyde was a member of the First Christian Church in Charleston, where he
served as Deacon, Elder and Chairman of the Board. He had served as
Master of Charleston Masonic Lodge #35 AF & AM, President of the
Cornbelt Shrine Club where he actively supported the fund raising activities
for the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, and Trustee of Charleston
Elks B.P.O.E. # 623. He also was a member of the Valley of Danville
Consistory, Charleston Moose Lodge #1388 and the Coles County Farm
Bureau. Clyde enjoyed farming, his grandchildren, coffee at Russ and
Lynda's and collecting and restoring antique tractors.

The family requests that memorials in honor of Clyde be made to the
Youth Group at the First Christian Church in Charleston or the Shriners
Hospitals for Crippled Children. Memorial Gifts may be made at the
visitation or service, or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee
Drive, Charleston, IL 61920.
