Pamela Cox

CHARLESTON - Pamela Cox, 48, of Charleston, died at 7 a.m. Monday
(June 11, 2001) at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Dodge Grove Cemetery
with the Rev. Jacob L. Frederick officiating. No visitation is planned. The
Schilling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Nov. 8, 1952, in California and was adopted by Claude and
Modena Cox.

Surviving are one daughter, Kelly L. Yarbrough of Charleston; one brother,
Lalonnie Meece of Mattoon; and two sisters, Rosie Meece and Penny
Osborne, both of Mattoon.

Ms. Cox was a certified nurse's assistant for Prairie View Center of
Charleston.

ROBERT HILLERBY

Robert Duane Hillerby, age 61, of Mattoon, passed away at 10:40 a.m.
Monday, June 11, 2001, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at
the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Lindo Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from
5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Robert was born January 28, 1940, a son of Robert A. and Marie Burwell
Hillerby. He married Elizabeth Jane Heath on March 3, 1963.

Survivors include his wife, E. Jane Hillerby of Mattoon; one daughter,
Robin Helm and husband Tom of Neoga; one son, Christopher Hillerby
and wife Beth of Mattoon; one granddaughter, Brittany Hayward of Neoga;
one step-grandson, Brandon Helm of Neoga; his father and stepmother,
Robert and Dorothy "Dottie" Hillerby of Hot Springs, Ark.; his mother,
Marie Hillerby of Mattoon; four sisters, Janice Howard and husband
Charles of Mattoon, Patty Wilbanks and husband Orville of Greenville,
Mo., Kay Eskew of Decatur, and Gloria Easton and husband Herbert of
Effingham; and one brother, James Hillerby of Mattoon.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one sister, Jeannie
Idleman.

Mr. Hillerby worked at Master Brand Schrock Cabinet Company for fifteen
years. He served as a minister of music at Christian Outreach Center in
Mattoon and was founder of the gospel music band, "Gospel Land Singers"
and played with them for twenty five years. He recorded gospel record
albums performed throughout the southeastern and central United States,
including WLBH Radio and other stations through the years. Robert wrote
articles for the local newspapers for many years. He had a deep relationship
with Jesus Christ, our Lord, and a love for God's living Word, which was
reflected in him and his articles.

Memorial gifts may be made to Jane Hillerby or Lincolnland Hospice.

John F. Mathis

STRASBURG - John F. Mathis, 70, of Strasburg, died at 7:10 a.m.,
Tuesday, June 12, 2001 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Strasburg United Methodist
Church with Rev. Michael L. Kesling officiating. Visitation from 9:00-11:00
Thursday in the church. Burial in Richland Cemetery, Strasburg, with
military rites by Strasburg American Legion Liberty Post #289.
Arrangements by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg. Memorials
may be given to Strasburg United Methodist Church or Strasburg American
Legion Liberty Post #289.

Mr. Mathis was born on April 1, 1931, in West Eden-Cypress, Illinois, the
son of John Franklin and Leota Mae Stockdale Mathis. He was a farmer
and worked for Anaconda/Anamet Metal Hose in Mattoon, retiring in 1993.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of
Strasburg United Methodist Church and a 47 year member of Strasburg
American Legion Liberty Post #289 where he was a past commander. He
married Rosabelle Rosine on November 10, 1956 in Oblong. She died on
May 25, 1998.

Surviving are his sons, Stanley Mathis and wife Cindy of Shumway,
Bradley Mathis and wife Tami of Strasburg and Kevin Mathis and wife
Lori of Strasburg; daughter, Denise Macklin and husband Rob of Mattoon;
brothers, Wiley Mathis of Shelbyville, Carl Mathis and wife Rita of Henton
and James Mathis of Yates Center, KS; sisters, Mary Cress of Strasburg
and Daisy Briscoe and husband Leon of Sullivan; and three grandchildren,
Paige Kemme of Mattoon, Mark Mathis of Shumway and Wade Mathis of
Strasburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Arthur F. Mathis in
1926; and sister, Beulah M. Roellig in 1981.

Bertha McClusky

MATTOON - Bertha Mildred McClusky, 78, of Mattoon, died at 5:01 p.m.
Monday (June 11, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Elias-Smith Funeral Home in
Alton with the Rev. Royce Roy officiating. Burial will be in Upper Alton
Cemetery in Alton. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the
funeral home.

She was born Oct. 13, 1923, in St. Louis County, Mo., the daughter of
Ernest and Mabel Stratton Hill. She married James Howard McClusky; he
preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Robert Henry McClusky of Mattoon; one daughter,
Ruth Ann Tipton of McHenry; two stepsons Jim McClusky of Springfield,
Mo., and Bill McClusky of Eldorado; two stepdaughters Helen McGowand
of Mount Grove, Mo., and Bonnie Tyssen of Highland, Ind.; 27
grandchildren; and 38 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers and
one great-grandchild.

Mrs. McClusky was a cook at Alton Memorial Home. She attended the
East Alton Pentecostal Church.

Richard Nelson Pearcy

STREAMWOOD, IL - Richard Nelson Pearcy, 47, of Streamwood,
formerly of Charleston, passed away at 2:01 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001 at
St. Alexius Hospital, Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2001,
at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with Chaplain Robert Holmes
officiating. Interment will follow in Janesville Cemetery with military rites
by Paul McVey V.F.W. Post #1592. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00
p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Richard was a devoted son, husband and father. He was born October 28,
1953, in Charleston, Illinois, a son of Richard "Gene" and Carolyn
Duckworth Pearcy. He married Kim Suk-Hwan December 17, 1985 in
Seoul, South Korea, she survives. Also surviving are his parents of
Charleston; grandmother, Joyce Duckworth of Charleston; three sons,
Richard Curtis Pearcy and wife JoAnn of Streamwood, Paul Joseph Pearcy
of Streamwood and Daniel James Pearcy of San Antonio, Texas. Richard
also leaves a granddaughter, Sophia Pearcy of Streamwood; and two
brothers, Thomas M. Pearcy and Steven J. Pearcy both of Charleston. One
brother, Robert E. Pearcy preceded him in death.

Richard was an instructor at I.T.T. Technical Institute. He was a retired
career military officer, serving his country with honor and distinction. Some
of the awards he received were the Meritorious Service Award, Air Force
Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force
Organizational Excellence Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National
Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Short Tour Ribbon and Air Force
Longevity Service Medal. He was a life member of Paul McVey V.F.W.
Post 1592 and was a V.F.W. member of the A.F.C.E.A. He received his
Bachelor or Science Degree from University of Illinois and his Master's
Degree at Biloxi Mississippi. He was licensed in Electrical Engineering in
Illinois and Oklahoma.

Kristi Ulrey

CHARLESTON - Kristi Jo Ulrey, 35, of Charleston, formerly of
Martinsville, died Monday (June 11, 2001) at her residence.

Private funeral services are pending. Greenwell Funeral Home in
Martinsville is in charge of the arrangements.

She was born Feb. 2, 1966, in Paris, the daughter of Gayle and Sandra
Hills Ulrey.

Surviving are her parents of Martinsville; one daughter, Ashley Brooke
Ulrey of Charleston; one brother, Victor Ulrey of Haltom City, Texas; and
three sisters, Tracy Frazier of Marshall, Shelly Boedeker of Berthoud,
Colo., and Misty Ettelbrick of Naperville.

Ms. Ulrey was a licensed practical nurse. Donations in her memory made
be made to the donor's choice.

Dino Auburn

SHELBYVILLE - Dino S. Auburn, 51, of Shelbyville, died at 1 a.m.
Sunday (June 10, 2001) in his residence.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Glenwood Cemetery,
Shelbyville. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Lockart and Sons
Funeral Home in Shelbyville.

He was born April 6, 1950, in Decatur, the son of Ansel F. and Mary
Humphrey Auburn.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mary Auburn Stevenson and Jim
Stevenson of Shelbyville; one daughter, Wendi Brush of Jacob; two
brothers, Richard Auburn of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Gary Auburn of
Shelbyville; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Auburn had retired from Diamond Star in Bloomington and was
formerly employed at Shelby Tool and Die and Justrite in Mattoon. He was
a member of the Shelbyville Moose Lodge and the Sons of the American
Legion, Shelbyville.

Memorials may be made to Shelbyville boys' baseball.

Paul Duncan

WEST HILLS, Calif. - Paul Lawrence Duncan, 91, of West Hills, Calif.,
formerly of Mattoon, died June 1, 2001, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 21, 1909, in Coles County, the son of Lawrence and
Nellie Ellen Wampler Duncan. He married Paralee Tinsmen in 1930; she
died in 1978.

Surviving are one son, Rick of West Hills, Calif.; one brother, Robert
Duncan of Mattoon; and one great-grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by one son, one brother, three sisters and
one grandchild.

Mr. Duncan had delivered gas and oil. He was a member of Mattoon
baseball boosters organization and a member of the Christian Church.

Robert Hillerby

MATTOON - Robert Hillerby, 61, of Mattoon, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday
(June, 11, 2001) at his residence.

Arrangements are incomplete at the Schilling Funeral Home.

Kenneth Ingram

INDIANPOLIS - Kenneth R. Ingram, 62, of Indianapolis, died Sunday
(June 10, 2001) at the Methodist Hospital.

The funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Conkle Funeral Home in
Lynhurst Chapel, Indianapolis. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery in
Indianapolis. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa A. Woodall; one son, Kenneth Ingram Jr.
of Rolling Meadows; three daughters, Rae Lynn Strong and Marla Sibley,
both of Fort Worth, Texas, and Michelle White of Indianapolis; three
brothers, Gary Ingram of Mattoon, Gene Ingram of Windsor and Charles
Ingram of Harrisburg; one sister, Louise Shook of Mattoon; and six
grandchildren.

Mr. Ingram was retired from the Indianapolis Business Journal, where he
had worked in distribution for 21 years.
