HASIE STEINBERG
CHARLESTON - Hasie Steinberg, 77, of Charleston, died at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday, July 4, 2001 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, at West Lawn
Cemetery in Chicago. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m.
Sunday, July 15, at the Mattoon Jewish Community Center, 1608
Richmond Ave.
Hasie was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Chicago, the daughter of Oscar Lang and
Rose Lang Goldman and the stepdaughter of Sam Goldman. She married
Aaron Steinberg June 18, 1944. He survives.
Hasie and husband Aaron operated the Hertz Car Rental Agency at Coles
County Memorial Airport for 10 years, and she was an accountant in the
construction business for 20-25 years.
She was preceded in death by their beloved daughter, Judith Sherry
Steinberg, her parents, stepfather, brother-in-law, Seymour Kessler, and
brother-in-law, Herbert Kahn.
Also surviving are her sister, Syma Kessler of Florida; sister-in-law,
Rosalind Kahn of Waukegan; and several nieces and nephews and
great-nieces and great-nephews.
Hasie was a long-time member of the Mattoon Jewish Community Center
(JCC) and served as its treasurer for several years.

Dorothy Daugherty
WEST UNION - Dorothy M. Daugherty, 77, of Oskaloosa, Kan., formerly
of York, died at 1:20 p.m. Monday (July 9, 2001) at the Hickory Pointe
Care Center in Oskaloosa, Kan.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in
West Union with the Rev. Vernon Pruiett officiating. Burial will be in the
York Cemetery southeast of West Union. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m.
Thursday and 7 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
She was born July 21, 1923, in Sullivan, Ind., the daughter of Frank and
Sylvia Huff McCammon. She married Roy Daugherty in 1955; he died in
1992.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Wright of Perry, Kan., and Robert Wright
of Sedalia, Mo.; one brother, Donald McCammon of Kansas, Ill.; five
grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.
Mrs. Daugherty was a homemaker and member of the York United
Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the York Cemetery to assist with upkeep.
Ernest Denny
GREENUP - Ernest Denny, 91, of Greenup, died at 1:55 p.m. Saturday
(July 7, 2001) at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Funeral Home, Greenup,
with Dan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Greenup Cemetery. Visitation
will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born July 31, 1909, in Greenup, the son of Hiram and Elma Lyons
Denny. He married Dorothy Fox in 1932; she died in 1996.
Surviving are three daughters, Hazel Lane of Hempstead, Texas, and Ruth
Eastep and Ann Black, both of Newton; 12 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Mr. Denny was a retired tractor mechanic from Eubank Ford Tractor Co.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Greenup.
THOMAS L. ENDSLEY
ARKADELPHIA, AR - Thomas L. Endsley, 86, of Arkadelphia, passed
away Wednesday, June 13, 2001 at Baptist Medical Center.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14,
2001 at Roselawn Cemetery in Charleston, with Reverend Bill Boaz
officiating. The eulogy will be given by Mary Kathryn Holt.
Thomas was born January 25, 1915, in Coles County, son of William
"Mack" and Minnie Harwood Endsley. he is survived by a daughter: Anita
Holt of Redondo Beach, CA and one step-daughter, Paula Leming of
Arkadelphia; two brothers, Carroll Endsley of Decatur, IL and Norman
Endsley of Bartonville, IL; three granddaughters, Mary Kathryn Holt of
Manhatten Beach, CA, Jill M. Holt of Irvin, CA, and Sarah Kathryn
Leming of Albuquerque, NM also survive. He was preceded in death by
two wives, Mary Catherine Smith Endsley and Kathryn Swickard Endsley.

KNOXVILLE, Iowa - Florence Rennels Geery, 76, of Knoxville, Iowa,
died Monday (July 9, 2001) at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines,
Iowa.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Iowa. The Evans-McCleery Funeral Service
is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born July 27, 1925, in Charleston, the daughter of Myrtle and
Walter Rennels. She married Woodrow Gerry; he preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Cole of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Ann
Broadhead of Knoxville, Tenn., and Gail Cline of Newton, Iowa; two
sisters, Frances Knollenberg of Mattoon and Esther Schabilion of
Richmond, Va.; and five grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter.
Mrs. Geery was a registered nurse and worked in the nursing education
department at the VA Hospital in Knoxville for 30 years before retiring. She
was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Knoxville Friends
of Public Library and the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Central Iowa or the Knoxville
Public Library Friends of the Library.
Neva Kincaid
MONTROSE - Neva F. Kincaid, 85, of Montrose, died at 10 p.m. Monday
(July 9, 2001) at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in Effingham.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Barkley Funeral Home in
Greenup. Burial will be in Mullen Cemetery, rural Montrose. Visitation will
be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 22, 1913, in Toledo, the daughter of Lona and Janie
Shaefer Starwalt. She married Ivan Kincaid in 1937; he died in 1980.
Surviving are one son, Carl Kincaid of Montrose; two brothers, Rex
Starwalt of Montrose and Delbert Starwalt of Effingham; two sisters,
Shirley Cox of Montrose and Ruby Fortney of Tolono; one grandchild; and
one great-grandchild
Mrs. Kincaid was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Joanne Read
SNELLVILLE, Ga. - Joanne Read, age 62, of Snellville, Georgia, passed
away Monday, July 9, 2001 at her residence.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2001 at Taber
Funeral Home, Oakland with Father Paul Skelton officiating. Burial will be
in the Gwinn Cemetery, north of Oakland. There will be no visitation.
Taber Funeral Home, Oakland, in charge of arrangements.
Joanne was born August 20, 1938 at Buffalo, New York the daughter of
Joseph and Ann Johnson Dunn. She married Mike Read of Oakland on
November 25, 1967 in Buffalo, N. Y.
She is survived by her mother of Buffalo, her husband of Snellville, Ga.;
one daughter, Mrs. Jaime (Ann) Torres of Tampa, Florida and one
granddaughter, Micaela. Also surviving are two brothers, Joe and Chris
Dunn of Buffalo and two sisters, Sarah Anderson of Buffalo and Margaret
Hutchison of Ottumwa, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.

WILLIAM S. REASOR
CHARLESTON - William S. "Bill" Reasor, age 62, of Granger, Indiana
and formerly of Charleston, passed away at Munson Medical Center in
Traverse City, Michigan on Tuesday, July 10, 2001. Services celebrating
his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14 at the First
Presbyterian Church, 311 Seventh Street in Charleston. Reverend Susan
Reichenberg will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from
4:00-8:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts in honor of Bill be
made to the American Heart Association. Memorial gifts may be made at
the visitation or services, or mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330

DOROTHY ROMANO
SULLIVAN - Dorothy Freeman Romano, 78, of Sullivan, died at 6:00 p.m.
on Monday, July 9, 2001, in the Sullivan Health Care Center, Sullivan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday in the St. Columcille
Catholic Church, Sullivan, with Father John Sohm officiating. Visitation will
be Thursday from 5:00 -8:00 p.m. in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home,
Sullivan, with an 8 p.m. prayer service. Burial will be in the Greenhill
Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials: Lincolnland Hospice, St. Columcille
Catholic Church, Sullivan or Donor's Choice.
Mrs. Romano was born on October 12, 1922, in Bell City, Mo., the
daughter of Logan and Mamie Downs Choate. She retired in 1982, from
the Lehman-Jividen I.G.A. in Sullivan. She was a member of the St.
Columille Catholic Church, Sullivan, and the American Legion Auxiliary
Post #68, Sullivan. She married Sandy Freeman on December 3, 1938, in
Jackson, MO, he preceded her in death on November 11, 1973. She then
married Paul Romano on November 29, 1986, in Arcola and he survives
her.
Other survivors include sons, Larry Freeman and wife Janet of Lafayette,
Barry Freeman and wife Janet of Innsbrook, MO., step-daughter, Vicki
Schroeder and husband Chuck of Estes Park, CO., granddaughter, Terri
Via and husband Darin of Beltsville, MD., step-grandchildren, Mary Jo Hall
and husband Pete of Waverly, Iowa, Michael Junis and wife Jean of Iowa
City, Iowa, Martin Junis and wife Deborah of Mackinaw, IL, Mitchell Junis
and wife Margie of Bloomington; sister, Dotsie Kent and husband Norman
of Bradley; three great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; four
step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Marion Stewart
TOLEDO - Marion E. Stewart, 68, of Toledo, died at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday
(July 10, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The graveside funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Toledo
Cemetery with military rites. No visitation is planned. Barkley Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Toledo, the son of Wesley and Elizabeth
Cornell Stewart. He married Violet Kingery in 1955; she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Corinne Watters of Hot Springs, Ark.,
and Belinda Nidey of Casey; one brother, Daniel Stewart of Mattoon; three
sisters, Cecil Cooper and Anna Mae Stewart, both of Charleston, and Mary
Edith Stuart of Colorado; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Stewart was retired from Farm Service of Toledo. He was a member
of the Cumberland County Sportsmen's Club, an Army veteran of the
Korean War, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans of
Effingham, the Toledo American Legion and the Greenup Veterans of
Foreign Wars.
