NEOGA - Jerry L. Brown, 65, of rural Neoga, died at 1:45
p.m. Monday (Aug. 6, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health
Center.

Edward Creviston
LOVINGTON - Edward Ames Creviston, 80, of
Lovington, died at 4:34 p.m. Sunday August 5, 2001, in
the Arthur Home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8,
2001, in the Church of the Brethren, LaPlace, with Larry
Traxler officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before service
time at the church. Burial with military rites will be in
LaPlace, Cemetery, LaPlace. Memorials: Church of the
Brethren, LaPlace or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Mr. Creviston was born on February 3, 1921, in Mattoon,
the son of Jess T. and Bertha A. Ames Creviston. He was
in the Air Force during WW II, retired farmer, active
member of the Church of the Brethern, LaPlace, former
member of the Bethany and Lovington School Boards,
singer in the Okaw Four Quartet. He married Doris E.
Turner on January 18, 1942, in LaPlace and she survives.
Surviving are his sons, Steven Creviston and wife Patricia
of Sullivan, Dean Creviston and wife Brenda of
Lovington; daughters, Shirley Krall and husband
Lawrence of Watseka, Nancy Dew and husband Randy of
Muscatine, Iowa; grandchildren, Eric and Sean Creviston,
Travis Myers, Terry Doyle, Douglas, Bobby, Anna, Rachel
Creviston, Jeremy and Janene Krall, Amanda, Katelyn,
Amy Dew; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Brianna
Creviston.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
BEATRICE CUTLER
CASEY, IL - Beatrice Cutler of Casey died at 7:40 a.m. on
Sunday, August 5, 2001 at Birchwood Nursing Home. She
was 97 years old.
Funeral services will be held at the Markwell Funeral
Home, in Casey, on Thursday, August 9 at 11 a.m. with
Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Visitation will be one hour
before the service.
Beatrice was born in Coles County on August 14, 1903,
the daughter of Larb and Mae (Anderson) Wilson. She
married Ralph Cutler on August 26, 1920. He died in 1959.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth (Pat) Cutler and wife
Carol of Clermont, Florida; one daughter, Wilma Gardner
and husband Herman of Casey; three grandchildren,
Sandra Lee and husband Greg, Larry Gardner and wife
Carolyn, and Linda Melton and husband Dale all of Casey;
and one sister, Opal Malcom and one brother, Max Wilson
and wife Louise, of Casey; ten great-grandchildren and 13
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 3
brothers, Kenneth, Dillard, and Durward; a
daughter-in-law, Peggy (Moody) Cutler; and one
grandson, Steve Cutler.
Mrs. Cutler was a member of the United Methodist Church
of Casey and worked for many years as a nurses aide in
several nursing homes in the area.
Marjorie Rich
VINCENNES - Marjorie E. Morehead Rich, 79, of
Vincennes, formerly of Arcola, died at 4 a.m. Thursday
(Aug. 2, 2001) at Good Samaritan Hospital.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. today at the Goodwin Funeral
Home with Major David Higgins officiating. Burial will be
later today at Polk Memorial Cemetery in Arcola.
She was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Bridgeport, the daughter of
Hiram and Oma Jane (Clark) Morehead. She married
George J. Rich in 1942; he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Harold Rich of Springfield
and Jerry Rich of Manchester, Mo., and four
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant son, four
brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Rich was a homemaker. She was a member of the
Salvation Army.
Michael Riley
COWDEN - Michael Shannon Riley, 27, of Cowden, IL,
passed away at 1:10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001. He was
born Feb. 4, 1974 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Gene and
Debra Bishop Riley. He was employed as a pipe welder at
the Holland Energy Project and was a member of the
Christ Tabernacle Church in Herrick. He loved fishing,
Moto-Cross, played football for the Decatur Bears
Football Team and was a rodeo bull rider.
Surviving are his parents of Cowden; Fiancee, Jeanette
Einhorn of Island Grove, IL; Grandparents, Bill and Pat
Bishop of Shelbyville and Wanda Riley of Herrick;
Brother, Troy Riley and wife Misty of Shelbyville; sisters,
Lori Garcia and husband Tony of Mattoon and Kate Pagel
and husband James of Edgewood; several Uncle, Aunts,
Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He was preceded in death
by his Grandfather, Merlyn Riley, Sr.; Great-grandparents,
Olive Pescitelli, Harry and Marie Riley, Raymond and
Emma Lewis, Wendell and Gladys Bishop and George
Temple.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday,
August 9, 2001 in the Christ Tabernacle Church in Herrick
with Assistant Pastor William Kistler officiating. Visitation
will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Lockart
and Sons Funeral in Cowden. Burial will be in Hubbartt
Cemetery near Beecher City. Memorials to the Family or
Donor's Choice.
Howard Stuckemeyer
AMBOY - Howard L. Stuckemeyer, 74, of Amboy, died
Sunday (Aug. 5, 2001) at his residence.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Amboy with the Rev. Christine
Stienstra officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery
in Sublette. Visitation will be 4to 8 p.m. today at the
Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy and one hour prior
to the service on Wednesday at the church.
He was born Dec. 24, 1926, in Altamont, the son of
Ludwig and Mayme Leturno Stuckemeyer. He married
Frances McCoy in 1947; she died in 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Randyl Stuckemeyer of
Evansville, Ind., and Daryl Stuckemeyer of Amboy; one
daughter, Kathy Robbins of O'Fallon; one sister, Evadine
Harrington of Mattoon; seven grandchildren; and one
great-grandchild.
Mr. Stuckemeyer was a farmer and an Navy veteran of
World War II. He was a member of the Immanuel
Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Immanuel
Lutheran Church, Amboy.
James Veach
MARTINSVILLE - James Veach, 39, of Martinsville, died
at 2:50 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 4, 2001) at Union Hospital in
Terre Haute, Ind.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenwell
Funeral Home in Martinsville with the Rev. Art Orndorff
officiating assisted by Randy Black. Burial will be in Blue
Grass Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today.
He was born July 2, 1962, in Paris, the son of Ernest and
Barbara Van Houten Veach. He married Marie Piehl in
1993; she survives.
Also surviving are his parents of Martinsville; one
daughter, Meranda Twigg of Toledo; three brothers, David
and Jeff Veach, both of Martinsville, and Eric Veach of
Marshall; one grandmother, Evelyn VanHouten of
Martinsville; and one great-grandmother, Leah Reed of
Casey.
Mr. Veach worked at the Heartland Pork Co. in Kansas.
He attended the Martinsville First Baptist Church.
William Waggoner
CHARLESTON - William Herschel Waggoner, 86, of
Charleston, formerly of Xenia, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday
(Aug. 4, 2001) in Charleston.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Xenia
Christian Church with the Rev. Ed Frost officiating. Burial
will be in the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Xenia. Visitation
will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Summers-Kistler Funeral
Home in Flora.
He was born April 5, 1915. He married Hazel Marie Whitt
in 1944; she died in 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Leroy Waggoner of Marion and
Stanley Waggoner of Mattoon; one brother, Clarence
Waggoner of Flora; and four grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Mr. Waggoner owned a full-service Mobil gas station in
Xenia, served at postmaster in Xenia until 1968, and later
became a radio dispatcher and jailer at the Clay County
Sheriff's Department in Flora. He was a member of the
Masonic Lodge and the Xenia Christian Church.

MAYNARD ASHWORTH
Maynard Stoneman Ashworth, age 87, of Mattoon, passed
away at 4:05 a.m. on Sunday, August 5, 2001, at the Odd
Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon.
Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 1:30 p.m.
on Wednesday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the
Reverend Marvin Flowers officiating. Burial will be in the
Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from Noon
until service time on Wednesday afternoon at the funeral
home.
Maynard was born March 20, 1914, in Mattoon, a son of
George Stoneman Ashworth and Agatha May Fleshner
Ashworth. He married Mary Lucinda Shutts on January 8,
1943, in Mattoon.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ashworth of Mattoon;
two sons, Richard Stoneman Ashworth and wife Kay of
Mattoon and Larry Wayne Ashworth of Westminster,
California; one daughter, Linda Kay Thornton and
husband Bill of Mattoon; one brother, Maurice Ashworth
of Mattoon; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren
and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Ashworth was a farmer throughout his life, retiring in
1984. He was a member of the Broadway Christian Church
in Mattoon.

CASEY - Beatrice I. Cutler, 97, of Casey, died at 7:40 a.m.
