Celia Wallace

MT. CARMEL - Celia Vivian Wallace, 90, of Mt. Carmel, died Sunday
(Sept. 23, 2001) at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Short Funeral Home. Burial
will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.

She was born Jan. 27, 1911, in Wabash County, the daughter of William
Thomas and Rebecca Dickey Brewer. She married Virgil Wallace in 1929;
he preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Rose Mary Hocking of Mt. Carmel and
Barbara Elliott of Mattoon; one sister, Nellie Garrett of Mt. Carmel; six
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Wallace was a homemaker and member of the Parkview Christian
Church.

Memorials may be made to the Parkview Christian Church.

Floyd Bauer

Floyd C. Bauer, 90, of Windsor, died at 8:00 a.m. Saturday (September 22,
2001) in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Lovins-Lockart
Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. Michael Mohr officiating. Visitation will
be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Windsor
Cemetery.

He was born September 19, 1911 in Richland Township, Shelby County,
IL, the son of Godfrey and Clara Altag Bauer.

He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church,
Strasburg and a charter member of the National Farmers Organization in
Shelby County.

He married Lillie F. Schultz on February 22, 1939 in Stewardson.

Surviving are his wife, Lillie; sons, Dwaine Bauer and wife Susan and Don
Bauer and wife Cindy, all of Windsor; grandchildren, Hank Bauer and wife
Cindy; Karen Boyer and husband Travis and Mary Sims and husband
Hank, all of Windsor; and great-grandchildren, Dallas and Morgan Bauer
and Noah Boyer.

Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church or the Windsor Fire
Department.

Thomas Boehm

SHELBYVILLE - ­Thomas Glen Boehm, 41, of Shelbyville, died at 1:25
a.m. Sunday (Sept. 23, 2001).

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lockart & Sons Funeral
Home in Shelbyville with the Rev. Greg Robbins officiating. Burial will be
in Glenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the
funeral home.

He was born May 29, 1960, the son of Glen and Janet Kelly Boehm. He
married Sandy Cutler. He later married Theresa Drone in 2000. She
survives.

Also surviving are his father and step-mother, Glen and Pauline Boehm;
two sons, Brandon Boehm of Findlay and Ryan Boehm of Shelbyville; four
step-daughters, Candace Salmons, Nikcol Boehme, Michelle Boehme and
Wendy Boehme, all of Lakewood; four brothers, David Boehm of Oreana,
Gerald Boehm, Larry Boehm and Danny Boehm, all of Shelbyville; four
sisters, Carol Wharmby of Agoura Hills, Calif., Mary Perry of Mattoon,
Janet Musser of Westervelt, and Lisa Ballinger of Shelbyville; two
step-brothers, Glen Johnson of Findlay, Stanley Johnson of Shelbyville;
three step-sisters, Donna Oldham of Findlay, Kathy Swarms of Shelbyville
and Virginia Defend of Monticello; and one grandson and one
step-granddaughter.

Mr. Boehm was employed by GSI in Assumption. He was a member of the
Westervelt Christian Church.

Nancy Britton

CHARLESTON - ­Nancy Elizabeth McCoy Britton, 51, of Charleston,
formerly of Edgar County, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 22, 2001) at
her residence.

Following cremation, the memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday
at the Stewart & Carroll Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Singer officiating.
Burial of cremains will be in Little Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be two
hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was born Aug. 14, 1950, in Paris, the daughter of Byron Guyon and
Alice Hanks McCoy. She married Gordon Clayton Britton in 1971. He died
in 1995.

Surviving are two sons, Sean McCoy Britton of Royal Oak, Mich., and Ian
McCoy of Terre Haute, Ind.; two sisters, Jean Lee LaForest of Knoxville,
Tenn., and Donna Jane Sheley of Jerseyville; and several nieces and
nephews.

Mrs. Britton was an instructor in the English Department and counselor
with the TRIO program, both at Eastern Illinois University. She was a
member of League of Women Voters, ACLU and Women of the Moose.

Charles Montgomery

CHARLESTON­ - Charles J. Montgomery, 92, of Charleston, died Sunday
(Sept. 23, 2001) at Hilltop Convalescent Care Center.

Arrangements are pending at Adams Funeral Chapel.

ANNA SCALES MYLER

Anna Scales Myler, age 93, of Mattoon, passed away at 2:20 a.m. on
Saturday, September 22, 2001, at the Mattoon Health Care Center.

Funeral services celebrating her life will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at
the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Mark Prevo officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from
5:00-7:00 p.m. this (Monday) evening at the funeral home.

Annie was born October 26, 1907 in Mattoon, a daughter of Robert and
Stella Mae Rhinehart Scales. She married Dorsey Myler. He preceded in
death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three
brothers.

Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Myler Hoefler of Mattoon; one
granddaughter, Donna Clark and husband Terry of Mattoon; one grandson,
Charles "Dan" Hoefler of Mattoon; six great-grandchildren, Doug French
and wife Becky of Lakemoor, Ill., Heather Dodson-Butler and husband
Brian of Mattoon, Christopher Hoefler of Champaign, Cara Hoefler, Alex
Hoefler and Sarah Hoefler, all of Mattoon; three
great-great-granddaughters, Brianna Butler, Layden Butler and Caitlin
Wheeler, all of Mattoon; one special niece, Annetta Kerans and husband
Ronald of Mattoon; and special friends, Carol Maxey, Sally Daugherty and
Karen and Rick Easton, all of Mattoon.

Annie was formerly the manager of the restaurant at the Etog Bowling in
Mattoon. She taught many Mattoon and area children how to bowl while
serving as a Youth Bowling Coach. She also served as a board member of
the American Junior Bowling Congress. Annie also loved animals and had
adopted several from the Animal Shelter.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Genesis Animal Rescue.

Robert Sparks

MATTOON - ­Robert Edward Sparks, age 86, of Mattoon, passed away at
10:05 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2001 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah
Home.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Toledo Cemetery with
Reverend Tim Pearce officiating. There will be no visitation. The
Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Edward Sparks was born March 17, 1915 at Toledo, Illinois, a son
of Charles Wesley and Bertha Florence Gentry Sparks. He married Mildred
L. Oliver July 4, 1950, she preceded him in death October 20, 1978.

Surviving are two brothers, Jesse Sparks of Toledo and Frederick H.
Sparks of Ocala, Florida; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Kotera of Superior,
Wisconsin, Mrs. Dale (Rachel) Decker of Toledo and Mrs. Charles (Viola)
Russell of Toledo; and one sister-in-law, Mary Sparks of Effingham. He
was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles T., Levi, Benjamin, Osba
and Rufus Sparks.

Mr. Sparks was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a
retired electrician for Fred Biggs Electric.

Charles L. Stewart

Charles L. Stewart, formerly of the Charleston area, age 79, passed away
Saturday, September 22, 2001 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Charles was born
in Illinois on November 16, 1921, son of the late Arron and Althea (Dillon)
Stewart. During World War II he served his country as a member of the
United States Army, and was proud to be a Life Member of the VFW Post
#1592 of Charleston, Illinois. After his discharge from the armed forces in
June of 1945, he married the former Ann Shoda on September 22, 1945.
At the time of his death, Charles and Ann were married fifty-six years. He
worked for many years as a lineman for and Illinois electric utility. Charles
is survived by his wife: Ann Stewart of Kaukauna, Wisconsin; a daughter:
Joyce (Cal) Martin of Kaukauna, Wisconsin; two granddaughters: Camille
(Rafael) Navarro of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Annette (Nick) Kern of
Appleton; four nephews: David Sertich of Chicago; John (Becky) Sertich of
Glen Carbon, Illinois; Michael Sertich of St. Louis, Missouri; Bob Bristol of
Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law: Lillian Bristol of St. Louis,
Missouri; and by his special friends Tom and Ruth Rigdon of Pana, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Michael Martin in 1972
and Suzette Martin in 1984; brothers Noble Stewart and Russell Stewart;
and by four infant sisters. A prayer service in Charles' memory was held at
7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The members of Electric City Post
#3319 of the VFW presented military memorial rites following the prayers
service. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna. Greenwood
Fargo Funeral Home in Kaukauna, Wisconsin was in charge of the
arrangements.

James Swann

CHARLESTON - ­James B. Swann, Jr., age 82, of Apache Junction, Ariz.,
died at 1:50 p.m. Friday (Sept. 21, 2001) at his residence.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Harper-Swickard
Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Boaz officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home
with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m.

He was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Charleston, the son of James B. and Faye
Alsop Swann. He married Margaret Wilson in 1940. She survives.

Mr. Swann was a retired engineer at Eastern Illinois University. He was a
member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star.

Francis Bailey

GALESBURG - Francis E. "Buck" Bailey, 75, of Galesburg, died at 6:38
p.m. Monday (Sept. 17, 2001) at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

The funeral was 3:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in
Galesburg with the Rev. Scott Grulke and Marilyn Anell officiating. Burial
was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at
the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel.

He was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Toponas, Colo., the son of James R. and
Cora Ellen Adams Bailey. He married Mary Ann Sullens in 1951; she
survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dr. James R. Bailey of Washington, D.C.; two
daughters, Leanne Schuneman of Western Springs and Cindy Shanahan of
New Concord, Ohio; two sisters, Sharon Nickl of Chesterfield, Mo., and
Florence Woodyard of Charleston; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and two brothers.

Mr. Bailey was a past president of the Galesburg Life Underwriters. He
was a World War II veteran, and member of the Masonic Lodge and
Institute of Certified Financial Planners.

Memorials may be made to the Frances Dianne Bailey Scholarship Fund at
the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.
