NEOGA - Harold Albert Yetter, 88, of Neoga, formerly of Berkeley,
recently died.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Hennessey-Bruno Funeral Home,
Berkeley. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Garden West Cemetery. Visitation
will be 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He married Marion Rapp; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan Redick; one sister, May Yetter; five
grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son.
Mr. Yetter was a retired optician for Uhlemand Optical Company.

Linda Hendry
NEWMAN - Linda Kay Hendry, 44, of rural Newman, died at 7:40 p.m.
Monday (Oct. 15, 2001) at her residence.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Taber Funeral Home, Oakland,
with the Ed Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Embarrass Cemetery,
northwest of Redmon. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 9, 1957, in Cincinnati, the daughter of Ronald and Betty
(McDaniel) McDaniel. She married Kris McGinness in 1979; he survives.
She married Ron Hendry in 1998; he survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Amanda McGinness of Charleston,
Sarah McGinness of Champaign and Gwen McGinness of Newman, and
two brothers, Thomas and Jack McDaniel of Cincinnati.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Mrs. Hendry operated Creative Custom Sewing for many years and was
previously a store manager at Paul Harris in the Tuscola Outlet Mall.
Recently, she was co-manager at the Children's Place, Champaign. She
attended the Newman Christian Church and was a member of the Edgar
County Home Extension.

"Nick" Chaplin Jr.
Earl D. "Nick" Chaplin, Jr., 66, of Englewood, Florida, passed away
Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at Englewood Community Hospital. Mr. Chaplin
was born June 21, 1935 in Mattoon, Illinois to Earl D. and Mary (Love)
Chaplin, Sr. Nick was the owner/operator of Nick's Marine in Mattoon for
over 15 years and moved to Englewood from there in 1981. He was a
Master Marine Mechanic both in Illinois and Florida and along with water
sports like fishing and water skiing he was an avid pool player. Nick has
played in numerous leagues and won many tournaments both in Illinois and
Florida.
He is survived by his son, Anthony "Tony" Chaplin of Greenwood, IN;
daughter Tammy Chaplin-Batha of St. Louis, MO; brothers, Charlie of
Mattoon, IL, Larry of Chicago, IL; one year old grandson, Max Anthony
Chaplin also of Greenwood; and his special companion, Teddy, his 10
years old cocker spaniel.
A memorial service was held in Englewood Thursday evening. A memorial
service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Caudill-King
Funeral Home in Charleston, IL. Private inurnment will be at Harmony
Cemetery, Greenup, IL.

Edward Clark
GLENDO, Wyo. - Edward Elliott Clark, 64, of Glendo, Wyo., formerly of
Charleston, died Saturday (Oct. 13, 2001) at his residence.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Faith Baptist Church in
Guernsey, Wyo., with Pastor Randy Simmons officiating. Burial will be in
Prairie Rest Cemetery, Guernsey. The Platte Funeral Chapel is in charge of
the arrangements. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 9 to 11:30
a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
He was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Charleston, the son of John W. and Edna P.
Ault Clark. He married Patricia Potter in 1956; they divorced.
Survivors include five sons, William, Richard, Louis and Michael Clark,
and Edward Clark Jr., all of Charleston; three daughters, Donna Perry,
Patricia Clark and Peggy Turner, all of Charleston; one brother, Larry
Clark of Cheyenne, Wyo.; four sisters, Alice Nees of Ashmore, Maxine
McHarris of Tulsa, Okla., Helen Lorenz of Guernsey, Wyo., and Barbara
Dayton of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one grandson.
Mr. Clark was a truck driver for Werner Trucking, retiring in 1998.
James Gatewood
TYLER, Texas - James F. Gatewood, 82, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of
Mattoon, died Thursday (Oct. 11, 2001) in a Tyler hospital.
A graveside service was conducted in Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev.
David O'Neal officiating. The Lloyd James Funeral Home, Tyler, Texas,
was in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Wellington, Kan.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Louise Gatewood of Tyler, Texas.
Mr. Gatewood served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II
and was a retired Landman. He was a member of the Presbyterian
denomination, the national and local Landman Associations, and served as
president of the Willow Brook Country Club.
Ray Hawes
VICTORIA, Texas - Ray Hawes, 80, of Victoria, Texas, formerly of
Westfield, died at 3:20 a.m. Friday (Oct. 12, 2001) in Victoria, Texas.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Markwell Funeral Chapel,
Westfield. Burial will be in Mapel Hill Cemetery, Westfield, with military
rites by the Kansas and Westfield American Legion. Visitation will be from
noon until service time at the funeral chapel.
He was born Oct. 18, 1921, in Paducah, Ky., the son of Quintes and Lucy
Allbritton Hawes. He married Leona Jones Hawes in 1943; she died in
1984. He later married Edith Maxey Hawes; she survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Michael Hawes of Peoria, Jerry Hawes
of Elkville, Neil Hoskins of Conroe, Texas, and Don Hoskins of Mason,
Texas; two daughters, Brenda Jud and Carole Donelson, both of Victoria,
Texas; two sisters, May Elliott and Cathleen Gordon, both of Paducah,
Ky.; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son.
Mr. Hawes was a retired machinist for Westinghouse Air Brake. He was a
World War II veteran and member of the Crescent Valley Baptist Church,
Victoria, Texas.
Joanne Henry
DECATUR - Joanne M. Henry, 53, of Decatur, formerly of Findlay, died
at 1:40 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 8 p.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church, Shelbyville, with the Rev. James D. O'Shea and the Rev.
John E. Sohm officiating. Visitation will be 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the
church. Family graveside services will be Wednesday in Calvary Cemetery,
Pana. Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, is in charge of
arrangements.
She was born April 12, 1948, in Springfield, the daughter of W. Vincent
and Gertrude Mary Ann Mickey Beyers. She married Michael G. Henry in
1978; he survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Lindsey Marie Henry, at home.
Mrs. Henry was the owner/operator of Joanne's Hair Fashions, Decatur.
She was a teacher's assistant for the RCIA Class at Our Lady of the Holy
Spirit Catholic Church. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit
Catholic Church, Mt. Zion, and a former member of Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church, Shelbyville, and St. Isidore Catholic Church,
Bethany.

Sally Hires
CASEY - Sally Mae Hires, 87, of Casey, died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday (Oct.
14, 2001) at Heartland Manor Nursing Home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Markwell Funeral Home,
Casey, with the Rev. Ronnie Gross officiating. Burial will be in Mound
Cemetery, near Oblong. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the
funeral home.
She was born Aug. 29, 1914, in Robinson, the daughter of Luther E. and
Callie Elizabeth Hussey Cohoon. She married the Rev. John H. Hires in
1936; he died in 1981.
Survivors include one son, James Hires of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters,
Barbara Hill of Charleston and Jeanne Stanbaugh of Terre Haute, Ind.;
three brothers, Ralph Cohoon of Indianapolis, Carl Cohoon of Casey and
Donald Cohoon of Piper City; two sisters, Louise Murphy and Marie
Risinger, both of Casey; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, one brother and two sisters.
Mrs. Hires was a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church
of Casey and Order of Eastern Star.

Raymond Krikie
STEWARDSON, Ill. - Wm. Raymond Krikie, 78, of rural Stewardson,
died at 9:10 a.m. Monday (Oct. 15, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health
Center, Coles County, Ill.
A local visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swengel-O'Dell
Funeral Home in Neoga, Ill. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the
Vickery Funeral Home in Shawneetown, with the Rev. Leo Hall officiating.
Burial will be in the West Wood Cemetery, Shawneetown, Ill. Visitation
will be two hours prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home in
Shawneetown, Ill.
He was born December 21, 1922, in Shawneetown, Illinois, a son of
William and Cora Lee (Wolf) Krikie. He married Mildred Hall in 1945 in
Morgansfield, Ky.; she died on May 26, 1974.
Survivors include a son, Ken Krikie of Neoga, Ill., a brother, Earl Krikie of
Shawneetown, Ill.; sister, Mrs. Mary Crane of Hitchcock, Texas; three
grandchildren, Mrs. Angie Allen of Pomona, Mo., Rev. Andy Krikie of
Mattoon, Ill. and Mark Krikie of Neoga, Ill.; one great-grandson, Wyatt
Wm. Krikie of Neoga, Ill.
He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mr. Krikie was a retired welder at the Blaw Knox Company in Mattoon, Ill.
He was a member of the Eagles Club in Mattoon, Ill.

Letha Sandiford
CHARLESTON - Letha E. Sandiford, 88, of Charleston, died at 7 p.m.
Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at the Hilltop Nursing Home.

Home with the Rev. Jess Adams officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven
Memorial Gardens, Mattoon. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the
funeral home.
She was born July 26, 1913, in Clark County, the daughter of W.T. and
Flora Glosser Madlem. She married Joe Sandiford in 1929; he died in 1998.
Survivors include four daughters, Lela May Ayers of Charleston, Geneva
Clapp of Tolono, Maxine Neese of Hindsboro and Carolyn Gose of
Mattoon; three brothers, Bill and Byrd Madlem of Charleston, and Jim
Madlem of Casey; three sisters, Una Matteson and Violet Simpson, both of
Casey, and Emma Ryan of Windfall, Ind.; 14 grandchildren; 33
great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two brothers and
three sisters.
