NORTH VERNON, Ind. - Dale E. Thompson, 68, of North Vernon, Ind., formerly of the Mattoon area, died at 4:55 a.m. Monday (Feb. 4, 2002) at his home.
The funeral was conducted Thursday at the Dove-Sharp-Rudicel Funeral Home.
He was born July 11, 1933, in Trilla, a son of Cleo and Myrtle Morgan Thompson. He married Helen M. Hamilton in 1953; she survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Martin E. and Brian Thompson and Paul Fenter; three daughters, Cindy Thompson, Barbara Edman and Paula Benton; three brothers, Gerald, Lowell and Michael Thompson; two sisters, Phyllis Norris and Sandra Campbell; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Thompson was a retired salesman from Elasco in Mattoon. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW Matt Hester Post 2021 and past commander of the former American Legion Post 199 of North Vernon.
Ricky Glasscock
Ricky Lynn Glasscock, 40, of Windsor, died at 6:52 am. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev Richard Eident officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Ash Grove Cemetery near Windsor.
He was born February 10, 1961 in Decatur the son of David G. and Mary M. Bence Glasscock. He graduated from Lakeview High School and attended Millikin University and the University of Missouri in Rolla, MO. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and the Experimental Aircraft Association in Osh Kosh, WI.
He was employed by Archer Daniels Midland in the Byproducts Laboratory. He married Elaine J. Ehrich June 11, 1985 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine; mother, Mary Glasscock of Decatur; father and step-mother, David and Barbara Glasscock of Flagler Beach, FL; brothers David Glasscock and wife Paula of Lakewood, CO and George Glasscock and wife Teresa of Wausua, WI; sister, Vicki Ehrmann and husband Ed of Brighton, CO; nephews David Michael Glasscock and wife Chris, Thomas Ehrmann and Michael Ehrmann; nieces Allison Oja, Rachel Oja and Emily Erhmann; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry (Bud) and June Ehrich of Birchwood, WI and sister-in-law, Ellen Ehrich Martinez of Chicago.

Estella Reed
GREENUP - Estella M. Reed, 86, of Greenup, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2002).
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Barkley Funeral Home, in Greenup, with the Rev. Dawn Linder officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, rural Greenup. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born June 26, 1915, in Greenup, the daughter of John C. and Della Ragon Underwood. She married Lowell Reed on July 11, 1936; he died Oct. 21, 1999.
Survivors include a son, John Reed of Casey; two daughters, Sharon Ramsay of Casey and Shirley Lacey of Lakeland, Fla.; six grandchildren: Greg Ramsay, Steve Lacey, John J. Reed of Casey, Ken and Lynn Ramsay of Indianapolis, Ind., Stacey Burkert of Durham, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Meagan Ramsay.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Reed was a homemaker.

Evalee Reed
SULLIVAN - Evalee Reed, 88, of Sullivan, died at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2002, in the Sullivan Health Care Center, Sullivan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, with the Rev. Francis Farney officiating. Visitation will be Thursday (today) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials: Donor's Choice.
She was born on November 14, 1913, the daughter of Ira F. and Bessie Myrtle Anderson Reed. She was retired from the Illinois Masonic Home, Sullivan, a member of the First Apostolic Church, Sullivan.
She is survived by a sister, Opal Fultz of Sullivan. She was an Aunt to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Everyone needs an Aunt Bea and she was ours. She was a great lady and will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Claude and Noah Reed and 1 sister, Mary Peadro.
Mary Catherine Rickelman
MATTOON - Mary Catherine Rickelman, age 79, passed away 8:05 p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2002, at the Douglas Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 8, 2002, at the Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. Niebrugge officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday (this) evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.
Mary was born July 31, 1922, in Pleasant Grove Township, a daughter of Hubert and Catherine Verdeyen Pike. She married Earl "Bud" Rickelman on May 23, 1943. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Mary is survived by her children, H. Anthony "Tony" Rickelman and his wife, Alice, of Mattoon; Marilyn Shull and husband, Denny, also of Mattoon; and David Rickelman and wife, Wendy, of Cape Coral, Florida. She also leaves a brother, Joe Pike of rural Mattoon, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Her son, Earl, daughter, Judy and sister, Loretta Houser, preceded her in death.
For 25 years, Mary owned and operated Creative Ceramics. She was also a cook for the Mattoon Eagles Lodge. She attended the Immaculate Conception Church, was a member of the Mattoon Eagles Lodge, and the Mattoon Moose Lodge.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. She was an avid card player and liked to play Yahtzee.

Georgeanna Siliznoff
MARTINSVILLE - Georgeanna Siliznoff, 85, of Martinsville, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2002).
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Pearce Funeral Home, Marshall. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 25, 1917, in Ashmore, the daughter of George and Anna Ellis Bidle. She married George Siliznoff in 1946; he survives.
Other survivors include one sister, Dorothy Courtney of Lawrenceville, Ga., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Siliznoff was a member of the Martinsville Bible Church, Martinsville.
Ruth Smith
CASEY - Ruth Mae Smith, 78, of Casey, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2002) at Heartland Manor, Casey.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Markwell and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be in Washington Street Cemetery, Casey. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born July 8, 1923, in Casey, the daughter of Lebert and Clara Faunce Johnson. She married Duane J. Smith in 1942; he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Leroy Smith of West York; one daughter, Sharon Throckmartin of Riverton, Wyo.; one brother, Paul Johnson of Huntsville, Ala.; two sisters, Geneva Hudson of Casey and Marie Shanks of Martinsville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of the White Oak Church of God in Casey.

Mrs. James C. Velva Steele
SULLIVAN - Mrs. James C. Velva Steele, 94, of Sullivan, died at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday February 5, 2002, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, with the Dr. Rev. David Leslie officiating, visitation will be 1 hour before service time. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials: Titus Memorial Presbyterian Home, or the First Christian Church, Sullivan.
She was born on October 9, 1907, in Sullivan, the daughter of William Henry and Eva Maletha Drew. She was a Registered Nurse with Dr. Kendall's office in Sullivan and Head Nurse at Memorial Hospital in Mattoon, on the Med-Surg floor. She was a charter member of the Mattoon Nurses Assoc., charter member of the Mo. Co. Nurses Assoc., member of the First Christian Church Sullivan, CWF, Sullivan Art Club, Evening Women's Club charter member, Home extension, Ada Circle of Christian Church. She married James C. Steele on November 21, 1930 in Vandalia and he preceded her in death on May 2, 1983.
She is survived by a foster daughter, Rebecca Ann Doran of Seattle, WA; grandson, Raymond J. Hunter of Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 1 half-brother, 1 grandson, a half-sister, and 3 baby boys.
Patricia Jordan
MESA, Ariz. - Patricia Ann Jordan, 64, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Mattoon, died Feb. 1, 2002, at her residence.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Sunland Lakeside Chapel, Sun City, Ariz.
She was born in Mattoon.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn Eckles Jr. of Maryland and Will Berkhoff of Vermont; one daughter, Paula Annette Eckles of Idaho; mother, Mary Jordan of Sun City, Ariz.; one brother, James Jordan of California; one sister, Martha Jordan of Youngtown, Ariz.; and 12 grandchildren.
Ms. Jordan worked as a secretary for the Department of Corrections. She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge, Jobes Daughters and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Ann Shapland
CULLOM - Ann K. Shapland, 66, of Cullom, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2002) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cullom United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herb Thompson officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Cullom. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the St. John's Lutheran Church Hall, Cullom. The Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Cullom, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Aug. 20, 1935, in Emington, the daughter of Richard F. and Edith Alean Hamilton Shapland.
Survivors include five brothers, Richard Shapland of Ashkum, Raymond Shapland of Commerce, Ga., Vernon Shapland of Melvin, and Ronald and Bill Shapland, both of Cullom; and two sisters, Edith Swager of Flanagan and Marjori Shuemaker of Neoga.
Miss Shapland worked at the Kempton State Bank, Vermilion Valley Bank at Kempton and later for Alliance Grain Company in Cullom. She was a member of the Cullom United Methodist Church and the Skinner-Trost American Legion Auxiliary.
