MATTOON - James R. "Bob" Brown, Sr., 71, of Mattoon, died at 5:10 p.m. Saturday (June 1, 2002) at his residence.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Caudill-King Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Kansas. Visitation will be one hour before service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born July 23, 1930 in Kansas, the son of Arlie and Gladys Kearns Brown.
Surviving are two sons, James R. Brown Jr. of Paris and Randy Brown of Windsor; two sisters, Charlotte Smith of Madison, Ala. and Arlene Babbs of Westfield; special friend, Betty Jordan; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.
Mr. Brown previously worked at Young's Radiator in Mattoon.

Doyle Henderson
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Doyle Glen Henderson, 76, of Indianapolis, Ind., died Friday (May 31, 2002) at his residence.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Markwell & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Emrich officiating. Burial will be in Hazel Dell Cemetery, with military rites by the Hazel Dell American legion Post 1230. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born April 6, 1926 in Casey, the son of Glen E. and Lavern Kelly Henderson. He married LaDona Fitch in 1949; she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Wright of Christiansburg, Va. and Nina Hopwood of Zionsville, Ind.; two brothers, Lowell Henderson of Casey and Raymond Henderson of North Highland, Calif.; two sisters, Loretta Ballard of Mattoon and Darlene Hochmuth of Virden; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Henderson was a retired postal superintendent of Lawrence Post Office Branch in Indianapolis, Ind. He was a Army veteran of World War II.

Josephine E. Lovins Doehring
Josephine E. Lovins Doehring 83 of Windsor died at 11:49 a.m. Saturday (June 1, 2002) in the Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, Windsor with Rev. Richard Eident officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in the Windsor Cemetery.
She was born July 5, 1918 in Windsor the daughter of Chancy and Eleanor Rose Mahan. She married Hubert Lovins in 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1954. She then married Clarence Doehring and he preceded her in death in 1995.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Windsor and the Windsor Women's Club. Surviving are son Dennis Lovins and wife Debi of Springfield; daughters Linda Normile and husband Dale of Windsor and JoAnn Lovins of Creve Coeur, Mo.; step-son Don Doehring and wife Linda of Windsor; step-daughters Virginia Vogel and husband Dale of Neoga and Sharlene Bell and husband James of Boulder City, Nev.; grandchildren Scot and Nicole Schnure of Kirkwood, Mo., Jill and Sam Francis of Teutopolis, Todd and Laurie Normile of Mattoon, Toni Rinehart of Windsor and Joni and Darrell Goddard of Ft. Orange, Fla.; six step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one sister and one brother.

EDWIN PARIS
Edwin Cassell Paris, age 79, of Mattoon, passed away at 2:05 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2002, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Eugene Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Branchside Cemetery at Gays. Visitation will be held from Noon until service time on Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home.
Edwin was born July 14, 1922, in Coastville, Indiana, the son of Wilbur Forrest and Lena Este Ellett Paris. He married Marguerite Irene Hopper on August 14, 1943. She passed away March 22, 1997. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his children, Mary Jane Caldwell and husband Jim of Mattoon, Susan Gaines and husband Louis of Watseka and James C. Paris of Mattoon; one brother, Harold Paris and wife Ivy of Belmont, New York; one sister, Wilda Anderson of Greenup; four grandchildren, Randy CaIdwell and wife Katie of Windsor, Jeffrey Caldwell of Orlando, Florida, Nicole Gaines of Watseka and Paige Paris of Mattoon; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Caldwell and Ryan Caldwell, both of Windsor; and two step grandchildren, Chris Gaines of Villa Grove and Angela Poole of Rockford.
Mr. Paris retired as a supervisor from Blaw-Knox Construction Equipment Manufacturing after nineteen years of service. He was formerly employed with Garwood Industries. Edwin was a member of the former Gays Methodist Church and later attended the Gays Christian Church.

Floyd S. Punches
Floyd S. Punches, 95, of Sullivan died 7:30 a.m. Friday (May 31, 2002) in his residence.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with the Rev. Lyle Goss officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials are suggested to the Sullivan First Church of God or to the donor's choice.
Floyd was born October 9, 1906 in Sullivan the son of George W. and Minnie Blackwell Punches. He had been a shipping clerk for Brown Shoe Company, a member of Sullivan First Church of God, and was a member of the Illinois National Guard from 1924 to 1928. He married Marie Kinney on March 12, 1927 in Sullivan and she preceded him in death on November 29, 2001.
Surviving are his sons, Jack Punches and Roger Punches; both of Sullivan; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, one granddaughter and grandson, Capt. Jack Punches, Jr., Ret. who was killed in the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.
Clarence H. Stutzman
Clarence H. Stutzman, 87, of Sullivan, died 11:20 a.m. Saturday (June 1,2002) in his residence.
Services will be 9:00 a.m. Tuesday in his residence. Visitation will be at the residence after 1:00 p.m. Sunday until service time. Burial will be in Otto Cemetery, Arthur. Arrangements by Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan.
Clarence was born December 18, 1914 in Arthur the son of Elmer E. and Sally Briskey Stutzman. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish Faith. He married Elizabeth Gingerich on September 14,1939 in Sullivan and she preceded him in death on January 19, 1968.
Surviving are his sons; Marvin Stutzman and his wife Sarah of Sullivan, John Stutzman and his wife Evelyn of Arthur; daughters, Magdalena Stuzman and Carol Stutzman both of Sullivan, Anna Marie Herschberger and husband Eli and Lucy Schrock and her husband David, all of Arthur; brother, Henry Stutzman of Arthur, one step brother, two step sisters, 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 44 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother Maryann Stutzman; brother Melvin, sister Elizabeth Schrock, a great-granddaughter, 5 step brothers and one step sister.
Dalton Fowler
MARSHALL - Dalton Paul Fowler, infant, was stillborn at 8:32 a.m. Saturday (May 25, 2002) at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.
A private family service was conducted at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. The Markwell and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He was stillborn May 25, 2002, in Terre Haute, Ind., the son of Christopher Paul Fowler and Teresa Delores Miller.
Survivors include two brothers, McQuaid Fowler and Dillon Miller, both of Marshall; two sisters, Mikayla and Sabrina Fowler both of Marshall; grandparents, Donald and Roxanne Fowler and Treva Miller, all of Marshall and Paul Miller of Oblong.
Elizabeth Keene
IRVINE, Calif. - Elizabeth Jane Keene, 77, of Irvine, Calif., formerly of Mattoon, died Tuesday (May 28, 2002) at Irvine Regional Hospital in Irvine, Calif.
A memorial service will be conducted today at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Irvine, Calif. Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif.
She was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Fort Smith, Ark., a daughter of Mark and Rose McAndrew. She married Joseph P. Keene in 1952; he died in 1991.
Survivors include four sons, Patrick Keene of Jackson, Calif., Timothy and Matthew Keene, both of Irvine, Calif., and Andrew Keene of Fox Lake; two sisters, Hannah Robert of Austin, Texas, and Rosemary Moore of Jerseyville; and five grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister.
Mrs. Keene was a homemaker.
Margie Pickens
LOMA LINDA, Calif. - Margie Elizabeth Pickens, 85, of Loma Linda, Calif., formerly of Mattoon and Neoga, died Sunday (June 2, 2002) at a Loma Linda Hospital in California.
Arrowhead Aftercare of Highland, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
She was born April 8, 1917, in Neoga, the daughter of Orville and Lillian Heaton. She married William Edward Heath in 1936; he died in 1993. She married Bill Pickens in 1972; he survives.
Other survivors include one son, William Heath Jr. of Mattoon; a daughter, Kenna Alice Martin of Mentor, Calif.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special friend, Virginia Doty of Mattoon.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Mrs. Pickens was a homemaker and member of the Christian Church.
Hester Queen
BETHANY - Hester P. Queen, 95, of Bethany, died at 2:20 p.m. Sunday (June 2, 2002) in the Decatur Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Bethany. Burial will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born April 26, 1907, the daughter of Fred and Grace Robertson Williams. She married George W. Queen in 1931; he died in 1982.
Survivors include daughters, Ilene Osborn of Decatur and Joyce Williams of Cerro Gordo; sister, Mylbra Troyer of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, three sisters, and grandson.
Mrs. Queen was a member of the First Christian Church of Bethany, and the Bethany Moultrie County Home Extension.
