Mildred M. Pokorny

Mildred M. Pokorny, 86, of Robinson, IL, died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center in Robinson after an extended illness. She was born October 25, 1914 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Arnelius Ranstadler and Johanna Mellentine Ranstadler. She was a retired secretary in a local high school in Michigan for many years. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Robinson.
She married Raymond Charles Pokorny and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Lance Holmer, rural Flat Rock, IL; 3 grandsons, Sean, Matthew, and Andrew Holmer; her sister, Dorothy Heintzelman, St. Clair Shores, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be cremation with a memorial service in St. Clair Shores, MI at a later date. Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, is in charge of local arrangements. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Robinson or to the Humane Society.

Mary L. Harris

Mary L. Harris, 77, of Palestine, IL, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2001 at her home after an extended illness. She was born July 23, 1923 in Palestine, the daughter of Harry E. Purcell and Odessa Mae Krantz Purcell. She was a homemaker.
She married Gene Harris February 21, 1990 and he preceded her in death on February 17, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harry Purcell, Jr; her sister, Maxine Daggett; a stepson, Richard Harris; and a step granddaughter, Tracy Good.
She is survived by 3 step daughters, Cheri Harris, Robinson, Twyla Harris, Palestine, and Mona Gilmore, Hot Springs, Arkansas; her stepson, Kevin Harris, Palestine; 11 step grandchildren; 18 step great-grandchildren; a brother James E. Purcell, Indianapolis; a sister, Ester Mae Coleman, Carlisle, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be cremation with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine, is in charge of services.

Dorothy Lucille Richey

Dorothy Lucille Richey, 86, of Palestine, IL, died at Long Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, Sunday evening, March 25, 2001 at 6:07 p.m. She was born November 14, 1914 in rural Palestine, the daughter of Fred Burkett and Alta Richards Burkett. She was a homemaker and a member of the Palestine First Christian Church.
She married Carl Richey July 28, 1940 and he preceded her in death on October 2, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Dick Hamilton.
Survivors include 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis Hamilton, Olney, Janie and Mike Foy, Atlanta, GA, Linda and Mike Tiemann, Evansville, IN, Carla and Dennis Benson, Farmersburg, IN; her son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Sue Richey, Ocala, FL; 10 grandchildren, Heather Dunn, Heath Hamilton, Hunter Hamilton, Aaron Foy, Meghan Foy, Jennifer Tiemann, Beth Maurer, Graham Benson, Seth Benson and Angie Richey; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Elizabeth Tudor, rural Palestine; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lowell and Mary Burkett, Winchester, VA, and Kent and Ada Burkett, Palestine and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 28, at 2:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine. Rev. James Delaney III is in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27. Memorials may be made to the Palestine First Christian Church with envelopes at the funeral home.

Paula J. Weger

Paula J. Weger, 75, of Flat Rock, IL, died of an apparent heart condition in route to Evansville, IN, Monday, March 26, 2001 at 11:37 a.m. She was born November 27, 1925 in Bridgeport, IL, the daughter of Charles Pargin and Viola Dickerson Pargin. She was a homemaker.
She married Sherman J. Weger December 10, 1941 and he preceded her in death on July 24, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Billy Love; 2 brothers, Harold Dean Pargin and Mack Pargin; and her sister, Margarite Paris.
She is survived by her daughter, Paula "Sue" Weger, Flat Rock; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Sherman Dale and Cora Weger, Flat Rock, Bruce Weger, Flat Rock, and Tom and Cindy Weger, Robinson; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale and Evelyn Pargin, Lawrenceville, and Ronnie and Carol Pargin, Lawrenceville; and 2 sisters-in-law, Georgianna Pargin, Lawrenceville, and Reba Gobel, Bridgeport.
Funeral services are Thursday, March 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock. Rev. Randy Hout and Rev. Tim Love are in charge of services. Burial is in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and until service time on Thursday.

Joanne M. Carraway

Joanne M. Carraway, 71, of Robinson, IL died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at Long-Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born August 9, 1929 in Robinson, the daughter of Herbert M. McCarty and Geraldine Burns McCarty.
Joanne attended the University of Illinois and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1951. She taught Physical Education in Michigan, Hutsonville, and Robinson school systems. She was a member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church and was a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association. She was active with her husband in the oil and gas business in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and held leases throughout the Midwest. She and her husband raised thoroughbred horses.
She married Charles Carraway August 22, 1956 and he survives. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Tessame McCarty, Tulsa, OK; her nephew, Matt McCarty; and 2 nieces, Tamera and Terri.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jack B. McCarty.
Funeral services are Tuesday, April 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the Robinson First - United Methodist Church. Rev. James Barnett is in charge of services. Burial is in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, April 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, and until 1 hour preceding the service on Tuesday when she will be taken to the church for viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Association or to the charity of the donor's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Bertha Rose Swaner

Bertha Rose Swaner, 79, of Robinson, IL, died at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Long Term Care Unit at 5:15 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001. She was born November 21, 1921 in Antlers, OK, the daughter of Fred Adams and Cleo Brashears Adams. She was a homemaker, a member of the Robinson American Legion Auxiliary Post #69, and a member of the Chaplin Street Church of Christ.
She married Marion "Swanee" Swaner July 22, 1939 and he preceded her in death on January 22, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Hubert Adams; and 2 sisters, Irene Weaver and Betty Elder.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Linda Swaner, Dunedin, FL; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and David Hargis, Robinson and Laquita and Dennis Hasty, Robinson; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lucille Rhoades, Odessa, TX.
Funeral services will be Monday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Pastor Johnie Adkins is in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Sunday and until service time on Monday.

Dr. Waldron Keith "Sonny" Seolas

Dr. Waldron Keith "Sonny" Seolas, 71, of Provo, Utah, died at the Provo Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo early Friday morning, April 6, 2001 after an extended illness. He was born June 16, 1929 in Robinson, IL, the son of Samuel Seolas and Helen Sarah Berry Seolas. He was a medical doctor and a member of the American Medical Association. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by 3 children, Suzette Seolas Blanke, Robert Keith Seolas, and James Robert Seolas.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 22, at 12:30 p.m. at the Robinson New Cemetery. Ken Harrelson, President, Robinson Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is in charge of the service. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Sunday at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, prior to the graveside service.

Mildred Emma Stewart

Mildred Emma "Millie" Stewart, 81, of Robinson, IL, died Friday, October 19, 2001 at - 8:18 a.m. at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. She was born January 28, 1920 in Crawford County, IL, the daughter of Harry Gatton and Julia Clark Gatton. - She was a homemaker and a beautician. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church, Robinson and the Women of the Moose #1369.
She married John Nolan Stewart December 17, 1938 and he preceded her in death June 15, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Betty Rippy.
She is survived by her 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Nolan D. and Linda L. Stewart, Robinson, and Tommy and Linda L. Stewart, Robinson; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy York, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2001 at the Robinson New Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Bible Chapel Church or Highland Baptist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Robert L. Nichols

Robert L. Nichols, 75, of Vincennes, IN, formerly of Palestine, IL, and Sullivan, IN, died at 6:50 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2001 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. He was born November 18, 1925 in Hobart, IN. He was a laborer at Marathon Oil Co. in Robinson, served in the U. S. Army during WWII, was a member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, and the Local Laborer's Union #1280 in Robinson.
He is survived by 5 sons and 8 daughters and their spouses: Floyd B. Woods, Oklahoma City, OK, Billy Joe and Judy Nichols, Roibnson, Danny and Pam Nichols, Robinson, Donnie Eugene Nichols, Hutsonville, Roger and Kelly Nichols, Flat Rock, Rita and Bill Van Winkle, Robinson, Joyce and Wayne Barrick, Palestine, Bobbie Nichols, Lawrenceville, Connie Nichols, Crawfordsville, IN, Bonnie and Robb Byrley, Palestine, Debbie and Harold Bachelor, Robinson, Mary Jane Nichols and Christy Marie Nichols, both of Philpot, KY; 34 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be Tuesday, August 7th at 11 a.m. - The combined service organizations of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the AmVets Post #33 will provide military honors and conduct the service. - Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson.

Cecil Eva Allison

Cecil Eva Allison, 91, of Flat Rock, IL died Thursday, October 18, 2001 at - 2:09 p.m. at her residence after an extended illness. She was born March 12, 1910 in Langley, Arkansas the daughter of Jesse Morphew and Bertha Lawless Morphew. - She was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Lawrenceville, IL.
She married George McKeown October 25, 1926 and he preceded her in death in 1965. She married - Weger Allison May 6, 1968 and he preceded her in death May 22, 1987. - She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Betty McKeown Wittenborn, her sister, Peggy Kensler, who was raised in the McKeown home .
She is survived by her son, Ed McKeown and his partner, Phil Wilson, Ithaca, NY; her grandson, David Wittenborn and his wife, Melissa of Hinsdale, IL; 2 great-grandchildren, Christopher and Melanie of Hinsdale, IL; her niece, Kathy Kensler, Joliet; her nephew, Marc Kensler and his wife, Karen, Bridgeport, IL.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 20th - at the Lawrenceville Cemetery, Lawrenceville, IL. Pastor Michael Jullian is in charge of services. Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Family requests memorial gifts may be made to the Good Samaritan Lincoln Trail Hospice (800-604-9203), 601 S. Ninth St, Vincennes, IN. 47591, whose loving caregivers made it possible for her to realize her wish to spend her final days at home.
