Nellie "Pauline" Richart Jones, 81 of Hardinville, IL, died at 6:55 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2001 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center, Robinson. She was born April 28, 1920 in Martin Township, Crawford County, IL, the daughter of Frank Andrew Richart and Nellie Pauline Barnett Richart.
She was a homemaker, a cook for the Hardinville Elementary School, and did general housekeeping for several Crawford County residents. - She volunteered as a "Pink Lady" for the Crawford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, volunteered as a cook for the Hardinville Christian Church Summer Youth programs, and was a member of the Royal Neighbors. - She was a member of the Hardinville Christian Church and the "Wide Awake Sunday School Class". Pauline enjoyed cooking and was known throughout the county for her specialty, homemade cinnamon rolls.
She married Denzil Jones on June 19, 1941 in Crown Point, IN and he survives. She is also survived by 5 sons and 4 daughters-in-law, Eugene and Peggy Jones, Robinson, Carl and Sue Jones, Robinson, Jesse Jones, Oblong, Larry and Carol Jones, Lake Station, IN, and Steve and Marcia Jones, Waterloo; 12 grandchildren, Valerie Jones, Marshall, Janet Jones, Marshall, Dewayne Jones, rural Robinson, Melody Benton, rural Flat Rock, LeAnn Jones, Winchester, VA, Christiana Jones, Bridgeport, Kris Jones, Ceres, Ca, Jon Jones, Ceres, CA, Kyndra Russo, Newnan, GA, Sarah Caho, David Jones, and Michael Jones, all of Waterloo, IL; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and her sister-in-law, Irvin "Cotton" Richart, Robinson, Frank and Roberta Richart, Robinson; her sister, Gladys Carey, Robinson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Leota Jones Richart, rural Robinson, Bernice Sanders, rural Oblong, Hugh and Norma Jones, Lawrenceville, Faye and Neil Weger, North Terre Haute, IN, Lanora Satterfield, rural Lawrence County, Margaret Richart, Valpariso, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; 3 brothers, Clarence Richart, Ivan Richart, and Jesse "Buck" Richart; her sister, Mary Shipman; and her daughter-in-law, Edna Jones.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 1, 2001 at the Goodwine Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Brother John Bogle and Ronnie Crawford are in charge of services. Burial is in the Hardinville Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday, December 31st. Memorials may be made to the Hardinville Christian Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Dolores Scheppelman
Mrs. Dolores Scheppelman, 65, of 14 East Logan St., Harrisburg, died at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997, in St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1932, in Cave-in-Rock to the late Myrtle Pitts.
She was secretary for Liberty-Ledford Water District and a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Garvin (Nancy) Cummins, Mrs. Mike (Billye Prather) Stalcup, and Brenda Breitwieser, all of Eldorado; a sister, Loree Rollman of Harrisburg; and five grandchildren, Laurie and Brent Cummins and Shauma Prather, all of Harrisburg, and Bryce and Brett Phillips of Eldorado.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Ron Reed will officiate and burial will be in Adams Cemetery.
Dale D. Kleiner
Dale D. Kleiner, 80, of Shawneetown, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 1997 at 4:30 p.m. in Ferrell Hospital at Eldorado.
He was born on July 17, 1917 in New Haven to the late Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kleiner.
He was a member of Shawneetown Baptist Church.
His wife, the former Ada M. Jones, preceded him in death on April 8, 1996.
Surviving are a son, Dale Kleiner of Shawneetown; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Vickery Funeral Chapel, where friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery in New Haven.
Mary Pauline Overton
Mrs. Mary Pauline Overton, 82, Citrus Heights, Mich., formerly of Eldorado, died Nov. 13, 1997.
She is survived by her children, Kay Foster of Moorepark, Mich., Tom Overton of Roseville, Lynda Bates of Meadow Vista, Gary Overton and Gloria Fleeman, both of Citrus Heights, and Connie Noble of Sacramento; her brothers, John Edwards of San Clemente, Bill Edwards of Indiana, Jim Burke of New Jersey, Bud Burke of Michigan, Harry Burke of Florida, and Pete Burke of South Dakota; and sisters, Leatrice Alexander of Tennessee, Ruby Nicholson of Michigan; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Overton; and great-grandson, Cody Bates-Ronell. She was the niece of the late Bennie Gibbs of Eldorado.
Visitation was held at Relchert's Funeral Chapel in Citrus Heights on Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. Services were held Monday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. at the mortuary Chapel with burial in Fair Oaks Cemetery.
Memorials were made to the ALS Society, Sacramento Chapter.
Bert Weston Greuel
Bert Weston Greuel, 69, of Oxnard, Calif., died Friday morning Dec. 5, 1997 while at work. He was owner of a Building Supply in North Hollywood, Calif.
On Dec. 1, 1956, he married the former Golda Alice Lewis, owner of the White Lace Inn Bed and Breakfast in Harrisburg. She survives along with a son, Weston and a daughter, Wendy, both of California; and a brother in California; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Wayman (Sharon) Hefner of Harrisburg.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Mortuary in Hollywood Hills, Calif.
Dorris D. Craig
Services for Dorris E. Craig, of Frankenmuth, Mich., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997 at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call after 8 a.m. Thursday until service time. The Rev. Jack Stallings will officiate with burial in Bolton-Trammell Cemetery at Stonefort.
Mr. Craig, husband of Edith Craig, formerly of Stonefort, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997 in Bay City, Mich.
Ruth T. Pfister
Mrs. Ruth T. Pfister, 87, of Ridgway died at 9:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
She was born in Ridgway on April 6, 1910 to the late William and Margaret (Zirkelbach) Walton. On Feb. 27, 1933, she married the late Cletus Pfister. A brother, Stephen Walton, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Pfister was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway and was a member of the Altar Society.
She is survived by two sons and five daughters: Bill Pfister of Waverly; David Pfister of Tulsa, Okla.; Barbara Lanham of Springfield, Janet Dickey of Springfield, Mary Lou Blankenship of Valier, Elaine Wilson of Rushville and Anita Wargel of Ridgway.
Mrs. Pfister is also survived by eight sisters: Louise Degrauwe of Chicago; Geneva Mueller of St. Louis; Bernice Sisk of St. Louis; Marian Poetz of St. Louis; Viola Gieson of Ironton, Mo.; Corene Birchler of Terre Haute, Ind.; Irene Dolan of Enfield and Dorothy Papandrea of Santa Barbara, Calif.
Twenty-nine grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. A prayer service is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Father Don Abell will officiate at funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ridgway.
Internment will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Ridgway.
Harold E. Carney
Mr. Harold E. Carney, 72, of New Haven died at 1:47 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 1998 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Mr. Carney was born in New Haven on Feb. 19, 1925 to the late William J. and Reba (Acord) Carney. In 1951, he married Shirley Bates who survives.
He retired from the Kaiser Aluminum Co. in Hammond, Ind. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion in Hammond.
He is survived by three daughters and their families: Cinda and Jim Carter of St. Louis; Connie and Randy Newsome of Highland, Ind.; and Gloria "West" Carney of Gary, Ind.
Mr. Carney is also survived by his brothers Carol Carney of East Alton and Carl Carney of Hazelwood, Mo.; four grandchildren, Christine Cosper, Timothy West, Leona West and Paula West; and one great-grandchild, Salena Cosper.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vane and Wayne Carney and one sister Rata Richardson.
Visition will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cox and Son Funeral Home in New Haven. The Rev. Bill Meyerholtz will officiate at the funeral set for 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Union Ridge Cemetery at New Haven.
James Simpkins
Mr. James Simpkins, 58, of 901 N. Land St. in Harrisburg died at 7:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Turner Manor Nursing Home in Harrisburg.
He was born in Spring Valley to Forrest and Thelma (Hunt) Simpkins on Jan. 29, 1939. Mr. Simpkins never married.
He is survived by a brother Forrest Simpkins Jr. of Harrisburg.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg. The Rev. Roger Lyons will officiate at the funeral service Monday 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Harrisburg.
Alice (McAleer) Perkins
Mrs. Mary Kennedy of Eldorado received word of the death of her sister, Alice (McAleer) Perkins of Roseville, Mich. Mrs Perkins died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and John Pierce on January 22, 1998 in Warren, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Perkins.
She is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bill Showers; and a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Aline of Marietta, Ga.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
