Emily Faro
JOHNSTON CITY -- Emily (McPheron) Faro, age 79, of Johnston City went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at 1:20 p.m. at Herrin Hospital.
She was born Sept. 5, 1922, in St. Louis to Josef and Maria (Jaggi) Hurzeler.
She married George (Red) McPheron, they were married for 35 years.
She was then married to Rudolph Faro.
Both husbands preceded her in death.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She last attended First Baptist Church in Johnston City.
Survivors include her children, George and Carolyn McPheron, and Sandy and Larry Phipps all of Johnston City, and Dennis McPheron and Martha Fox of DuQuoin.
She was blessed by her grandchildren, Tammy & Tom Richard, George & Missy McPheron, Scott & Martha Blankenship, and Melissa & Kent McGee.
Her great-grandchildren are Tommy and Nathan Richard, Carrie Emery, Scott McGee, Casey and Zachary Blankenship, and Austin and Joshua McPheron, and dear friends Bob and Margie Howell.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Randy and Robert McPheron, four brothers and two sisters.
Services were held Monday at Murman & Wilson Funeral Home.
The Rev. Roger Ellsworth officiated.
Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery.
Anna Kohler
JONESBORO -- Anna Kohler, daughter of William A. and Lura (Dillow) King, was born in Dongola on Oct. 11, 1912, and passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at the Robings Manor Nursing Home in Benton at the age of 89.
Mrs. Kohler was united in marriage to Doil Kohler in Union County on June 30, 1930.
She was preceded in death by Mr. Kohler on Aug. 7, 1995, and also by three sons, four brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Kohler was a former resident of Rosewood Heights before her retirement.
She was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Debbie and husband, Lee Grantham, of Aiken, S.C., Tanja Kohler of Apache Junction, Ariz., Doil Kohler of Aiken, S.C.; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Carroll Slusher of Roxana; one sister, Norma Haltenen of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters-in-law, Peggy Kohler of Wood Rover and Joy Ann Kohler of Bethalto; and brother-in-law and spouse, Ken and Dorothy Kohler of Anna.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in the chapel of Hileman and Parr Funeral Services, with the Rev. Scott Harner officiating.
Interment will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until the funeral hour Thursday at the funeral home.
Shelley Rene Davis
BENTON -- Shelley Rene Davis, 20, of 302 N. McLeansboro Street, died at 4:25 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, east of Benton.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, with the Rev. Carroll Toler officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton.
Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at the funeral home.
Ms. Davis was born March 25, 1981, in Benton, the daughter of Tommy Eugene and Debra Michele (Mayer) Davis.
She was a cosmetologist and worked at Silver Shears, Benton.
She also worked at the Movie Gallery in West Frankfort.
She was a graduate of B.C.H.S. class of 1999.
She was a member of East Benton Baptist Church.
Ms. Davis is survived by her parents, Tommy and Debra Davis, Yulee, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Mayer of Benton; paternal grandparents, John and Merle Davis of Benton; a cousin, Scott Hefner of Benton; an uncle, Kenneth Davis of Mount Vernon; and an aunt, Ruth Ann West of Mount Vernon.
Ms. Davis was preceded in death by a cousin, Teri Hefner.
Memorial contributions may be made to the East Benton Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Norman Stromeyer
PERCY -- Norman Stromeyer, 78, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in Chester.
Norman was born on Aug. 7, 1923, in Percy to Herbert and Anna (Eggers) Stromeyer.
He married Bernice Ohlau on July 28, 1946, in Wine Hills, and she survives.
He worked as a farmer and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Post Oak and the Randolph County Farm Bureau.
He was a former member of Lutheran Men in Mission.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Stromeyer of Percy; two sons, Alan and Mable Stromeyer and Dennis Stromeyer, both of Percy and three grandsons.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Ruth Ann.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kathryn Bielfeldt officiating.
Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today and on Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Wilson's Funeral Home in Steeleville and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Special Building Fund and St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Fund.
Rosalee Garrigan
PITTSBURG -- Rosalee Garrigan, 68, of Pittsburg, died at 6:13 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001 in Western Baptist Hospital of Paducah, Kentucky.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with the Rev. Matt Crain officiating.
Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Christopher.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Garrigan was a receptionist in Phoenix, Ariz.
She was a Baptist.
She was born June 9, 1933, in Christopher to Jack and Emelian (Cresson) Bogaerts.
She was married to Ronald Garrigan.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Lynn Horbett of Virginia; a daughter and son-in-law, Marlena Kay and Gary Cage of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven Wayne and Carrie Latta of Phoenix, Ariz.; an aunt, Pauline Braggs of Johnston City; and three grandchildren.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Cynthia Lynn Hilmers
JOHNSTON CITY -- Cynthia Lynn Hilmers, 40, of Walnut Hill, formerly of Johnston City, died at 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, in St. Louis University Hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, in St. Paul's Catholic Church, with Msgr. Ken Schaefer officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at Murman and Wilson Funeral Home.
There will be a prayer service led by Sr. Catherine Wellinghoff at 7 p.m. today.
Mrs. Hilmers was of the Catholic faith.
She was born on March 25, 1961. in Herrin to George and Mary (Cox) Arvai.
Survivors include her children, Sarah, Ryan and Samantha, and their father, Edward, all of Johnston City; her mother of Broadview; two brothers, George Arvai of Lombard and Andrew Arvai of Broadview; two nephews and one niece.
Her father preceded her in death.
James Jackson
CARBONDALE James Jackson, 68, of Carbondale, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Sunday, Dec 9, 2001, at home.
James was born June 24, 1932, in Roswell, N.M. to James and Marjorie (Harcom) Jackson.
Survivors include, his wife, Lupe Jackson of Carbondale; two sons and daughters-in-law, Salvador Warren and Sally Jackson, Lawrence and Eunice Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Richard Martin of Carrolton, Texas; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
There will be no services.

Kathryn Kinman
MOUNT VERNON -- Kathryn Kinman, 99, of Topeka, Kan., formerly of St. Louis and Jefferson County, died at 8:19 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in McRite Plaza Nursing Home in Topeka.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bethel Memorial Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

William Braden
MURPHYSBORO -- William A. (Bill) Braden Jr., 26, of Murphysboro, formerly of Galatia, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, in St. Joseph's Hospital as a result of injuries from a motorcycle accident on October 13, 1996.
Services will be at 10 a.m. in Sloan Funeral home in Galatia, with the Rev. Roger Forwe officiating.
Burial will be in Tate's Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Virginia Schleper
HERRIN -- Virginia Martell Schleper, 66 , of Decatur, formerly of Herrin died on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Services will be at 1 p.m.. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, with Msgr. Kenneth Schaefer officiating.
Burial will be in San Carlo Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home.
