Catherine Clark
MARION -- Catherine Clark, age 90, of Marion, formerly of Michigan, passed away at 2:50 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Parkway Manor of Marion.
She was born in Spillertown on Jan. 18, 1911, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah J. (Rowbotham) Simpson.
Catherine was united in marriage to James R. Clark in 1929 in Detroit, and he preceded her in death in 1965.
Catherine and her husband, James, made their home in the Detroit area and she continued to live in Grosse Ile, Mich., until 1980. During her working career she was a bookkeeper and worked for many years working along with her husband in their company, "Solar Products," manufacturing parts for Ford Motor Company. Following the death of her husband, James, she continued working as a bookkeeper for Wyandotte Hospital in Detroit. Following her retirement in 1980, she moved to Wheeling, where she made her home until moving to Marion in 1998. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed traveling to England, to visit with relatives and friends.
For her efforts during World War II she received a Certificate of Merit from the Detroit Ordnance District, which she cherished the rest of her life. She was very talented and loved to sew and make crafts for her family and friends. Catherine was of the Baptist faith and in her youth attended Spillertown Baptist Church.
She is survived by her brother, John Simpson of Marion; sister, Ruth Grover of Marion; sister-in-law, Jewell Faye Simpson of Marion; and also several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were parents, husband, son, James Clark in 1961, and brother, Thomas Simpson.
The funeral service for Catherine Clark will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home of Marion, with Rev. James Slone officiating. Interment will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery of Flat Rock, Mich. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held between 10 and 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home.
For those who wish, memorial expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, P.O. Box 370, Marion, IL 62959. Contribution envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.

Mildred Pate
HARRISBURG -- Mildred Ann Pate, 68, died at 10:38 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Services will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Reed Funeral Chapel with Rev. George Teegarden officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Frances Tersinor
WEST FRANKFORT -- Frances Tersinor, 87, died at 9:34 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in Marion Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Union Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be after noon tomorrow at the funeral home.
Mrs. Frances was a homemaker.
She was born on March 9, 1914,in Ledford to Charles and Victoria (Barnosky) Swinkunas.
Her husband, John Tersinor, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Rita and husband Arlon Goodwyn of Marion; two grandchildren, Don Goodwyn and Toni and husband Kevin-Evans of Georgia; and two sisters, Pat Fender of West Frankfort, and Sue Daujotis of Downers Grove.
Her parents also preceded her in death.

Dorothy G. Stearns Meisenheimer
CARBONDALE -- Dorothy G. Stearns Meisenheimer, "the nicest lady in the world," passed away at her home at 1:12 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Dot, as she liked to be called, graciously and bravely endured several years of illness and was a testimony of faith, love and courage to everyone who knew her. Her children and grandchildren will remember her spirit and zest for life; she was the lady who "always had her toenails painted."
Dot was born in Centralia on June 29, 1923. She was the daughter of Dan and Gracie (Braswell) Stearns.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of nearly 60 years, Clarence "Ernie" Meisenheimer; seven children, Ernest Wayne Meisenheimer of Brush Prairie, Wash., Terry and Nancy Meisenheimer of Tacoma, Wash., Bonny and Darrell Porter of Makanda and Cindy and Chey Porter of Lake Elsinore, Calif. Dot and Ernie have nine grandchildren. They and their spouses are Dacie A. and Sam Cremeens, Michael Jay Porter, Amy C. and Chris Naron, Jacob D. and Jill Porter, Nancy L. and Leland Lyerla, Athena E. and Joe Macauley, Cheyene E. Porter, Phebe Meisenheimer and Spring Meisenheimer. Dot and Ernie also have four great-grandchildren, John Wesley Naron, age 6, Madison Adelle Lyerla, age 2, Eliana Phebe Marie Macauley, age 1, and Maegan Grace Naron, age 1. Dot had six brothers, five of whom survive, and her sisters-in-law, Lonnie R. Stearns, Charles A. and Merrill Stearns, Wesley J. and Lois Stearns, James "Art" and Gale Stearns, Van R. and Bonnie Stearns and Pearline Stearns.
She was preceded in death by her "big brother," Lester Wayne "Hap" Stearns, and an infant granddaughter, Amanda Ellen Meisenheimer.
Dot was a life long member of Boskydell Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale, with Rev. Robert Hancock officiating. Interment will be held at McKinney Hill Cemetery, Carbondale. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of the service at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the VNA TIP Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Ross Tilmann
RED BUD -- Ross W. Tilmann, 75, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Leo Catholic Church in Modoc with Rev. Richard Weldert officiating. Burial will be in St. Leo Catholic Cemetery in Modoc. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. tomorrow and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home.
Prayer service will be tomorrow at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Leo Catholic Church.

Florence E. 'Flo' Hertich
CHESTER -- The Lord took Florence E. "Flo" Hertich to be with Him in heaven on Friday, Dec. 14, 2001. Waiting to receive her there were her loving husband of 57 years, Dr. C.D. "Del" Hertich, and her daughter, Carol Hertich.
Flo was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Wash, the eighth child of Joseph E. and Mary A. (Woolford) Hertich. She passed away at Chester Memorial Hospital in Chester. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Arthur, Ervin, Ralph, Lloyd and Nicholas Hertich, two sisters, Ruth Adams and Edith Dearing, along with her husband and daughter.
Surviving are one brother, Gervas Joseph Hennrich of Cole Camp, Mo.; one son, Charles J. (Susan) Hertich of O'Fallon; four daughters, Charlotte (Thomas) Tiernan of Okawville, Linda (Ken) Zacharski of Mascoutah, Cynthia (Robert) Anna of Collinsville and Christi (Craig) Rayburn of Chester; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Flo was a lifetime homemaker, an excellent cook, an accomplished seamstress and a loving and talented mother and grandmother. She worked as a veterinary assistant and office manager for her husband's veterinary practice in Chester. She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester, attending daily Mass throughout most of her life. She was also an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
In 1959, the family moved to Belleville where they lived for 35 years. A member of the Altar Sodality and Sunshine Ladies of St. Mary's Parish in Belleville. She visited nursing homes and shut-ins, lighting their lives with hope and kindness, and delivered meals-on-wheels to many elderly people.
In their late years, Doc and Flo retired to Chester, where they made their home with their daughter and her husband, Christi and Craig Rayburn and family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Masses or for St. Mary's School in Chester.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at St. Mary's Church in Chester.

Leon Frick
JONESBORO -- Leon Frick, 73, son of Coney and Flora Reynolds Frick was born June 7, 1928 in Jonesboro and passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at the Union County Hospital in Anna.
Leon married Betty Fifield June 24, 1965 in Carbondale. She preceded him in death March 10, 1978. He was also preceded by his parents, two brothers, Bob and Howard Frick. He served during the Korean Conflict and was a disabled veteran. He was member of the American Legion Post at McClure, Ill.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Brown and Ermael Michaels both of Anna; one brother, Lester Frick of Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17 in the chapel of Hileman and Parr Funeral Services with Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.

Martin O. Barber
SPARTA -- Martin O. Barber, 90, died at 5:32 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, in Sparta Community Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, in Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to Randolph County Care Center Auxiliary.
Mr. Barber was a mine safety inspector for the State of Illinois. Martin spent most of his life in the coal mines as either a mine boss or inspector.
He was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Sparta, and a 50-year Mason and life member of Hope Lodge 162 in Sparta.
He was born Sept. 28, 1911, in Bluff Creek, Iowa, to Battista and Felicita (Matte) Barber.
He married Helen Cheatham on Sept. 23, 1933, in Paducah, Ky.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Jean Bligh of Jerseyville and Anna Lea Barber of Sparta; one son, Joe Martin Barber of Sparta; five grandchildren, Kelly Sibley, Amy Settle, Tom Dewey, Matthew Barber and Michael Barber; and five great-grandchildren.
His parents, two infant children, three sisters and one grandson, Patrick Dewey, preceded him in death.

Stanley Macieiski
CHESTER -- Stanley Macieiski, 85, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in V.A. Hospital in Marion.
Arrangements are incomplete at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home.

Dan Scherrer
SHAWNEETOWN -- Dan S. Scherrer, 95, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado.
Services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Carl Scherrer officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Vickery Funeral Chapel. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m.

Victor Arvat
PINCKNEYVILLE -- Victor Arvat, 76, of Belleville, formerly of Pinckneyville, died Friday evening in Memorial Hopsital of Belleville.
Arrangements are incomplete at the Pyatt-Harwood Funeral Home.

Lonnie Hutson
CARRIER MILLS -- Lonnie Hutson, 54, died at 4:05 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in Deconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Services will be tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home with Rev. Harl Cockrum officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Lydia Homan
CHESTER -- Lydia Lou Homan, 60, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, in Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Arrangements are incomplete at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home.

Bradley Brinker
BROOKPORT -- Bradley Gene Brinker, 42, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2001 in the Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, La.
Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Aikins-Farmer Brookport Chapel with Mike Tanaro and Rev. Louis Wayne Brinker officiating. Burial will be in Pell Cemetery in Massac County. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel.

Joice Clayton
WEST FRANKFORT -- Joice Clayton, 88, died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001 in the West Side Care Center.
