Aulabaugh 09/15/97
Gale D. Aulabaugh, 73, of Alton, died Sept. 15, 1997, in Alton Memorial. He was owner of Coachman Oil Co., from which he retired in 1986, and had started Scoot's Convenience Store in Alton. He married Marilyn J. Roberts, who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Kathie Schrier of Shipman, and Jane Pollard of Wood River; sons, Richard of Alton, and Tim of Edwardsville; a sister, Jackie Dyslin of California, a brother, Wendall of Alton; and 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services were through Burke-Fine and Quinn. Memorials may be given to the Bells of St. Mary's Restoration Fund, the Catholic Children's Home and the American Heart Association.

Richard Thomas Aulabaugh, 53, of Alton, died July 31, 2000, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He married Nancy Taylor, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Douglas of Alton; daughters, Leigh Dugger of Jerseyville, and Angela Aulabaugh of Godfrey; and a step-daughter, Ashley Droege at home; brothers, Wendell and David, both of Alton; and sisters, Betty Durham of East Alton, and Peggy Grant of Dorsey. Services were in Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights.

Selma Louise Austene, 90, of Godfrey, died June 3, 1998, in her home. Her husband, Kenneth, preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Wayne of Godfrey; and a sister, Frieda Steinbrueck of Godfrey. Services were in Gent. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Alton.

Austill 05/20/97
Ray J. Austill, 68, of Bethalto, died May 20, 1997, in Saint Anthony's in Alton. He married Irene Fritz, who survives. Also surviving are sons, David and Darrell, both of Godfrey, and Tommy of Bethalto; brothers, Lester of Salt Lake City, Ut., Melvin of Chandler, In., Bobby of Boonville, In., Floyd of Indianapolis, In., Billy of Japan, and Walter of Phoenix, Az.; and five grandchildren and one step-grandchild. Services were in Elias-Smith in Bethalto. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Omar A. Austin, 78, of Olathe, Ks., died Nov. 27, 1998, in Olathe Medical Center. No survivors were listed. Services were through Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton.

Betty J. Austin, 76, of Jerseyville, died Nov. 30, 1999, in Jersey Community Hospital. Her husband, Everett, preceded her in death. Surviving are sons, Everett, Luther and Cy, all of Alton, Danny of Brighton, and Joe of Texas; daughters, Marjorie Darr of Dow, Carolyn Austin of East Alton, Donna Schoondyke of Iowa, and Joan Waters of Cottage Hills; sisters, Louise Chapman and Norma Biondolillo; and brothers, Gene and Dale Baker. Services were in Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorials may be given to the Alton Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene and Alton Museum of History and Art.

Surviving are sons, Allen of Alton, and Justin of East Alton; a daughter, Holly Wright of Cottage Hills; brothers, Marty and Cy, both of Alton, Danny of Brighton, and Joseph of Fort Worth, Tx.; and sisters, Carolyn Austin of East Alton, Donna Schoondyke of Des Moines, Ia., Marjorie Darr of Jerseyville, and Joan Waters of Cottage Hills. Services were in Fine and Quinn Chapel for Funerals in Alton.

Anna May Austin, 71, of Alton, died Sept. 22, 2000, in Eldercare of Alton. Three husbands preceded her in death, Robert Ivers, Manford Westbrook and Charles Austin. Surviving are sons, Gary Westbrook of Florida, Thomas Westbrook of Texas, and Donald Westbrook of Alton; and daughters, Darline McCollum of Loveland, Co., and Patricia Knoche of Godfrey. Services were in Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.

James Austin, 64, of Brighton, died Mar. 9, 2001, in St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. Surviving are sisters, Rosemary Spoon of Carlinville, and Margaret Oulson of Brighton. Services were through Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorials may be given for masses.

Clara Nevada Ayers, 74, died June 5, 2000, in V.I.P. Manor in Wood River. Surviving are a son, Rodger of Bunker Hill; a daughter, Darlene Bratten of Bunker Hill; brothers, Elvis Hodge of Alton, and Bill Brandt of Hollywood, Ca.; and sisters, Margie Sweet of Alton, and Mary Ketterer of Bunker Hill.

Herbert W. Haar, 73, of Alton, died Mar. 7, 1999, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He married Shirley Weaver, who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Karla Feltes of Texas, Phyllis Meridith of Godfrey, and Mary Sackman of Georia; sons, Kenneth and Paul, both of Alton; sisters, Rita DeRousse of Mascoutah, Marie Weber of St. Louis, and Helen Tinney of Belleville; and brothers, Cyril of New Baden, and Raymond of Michigan.
