Raymond E. Harrawood, 90, of Godfrey, died Sept. 18, 1997, in Greenwood Manor in Jerseyville. He married Verdie Galbraith, who preceded him in death. Surviving are sons, Les of Godfrey, and Paul of Brentwood, Tn.; daughters, Roberta Meiners of East Alton, and Jean Marshall of Clarksville, In.; a sister, Nora Wheeler of Carterville; and and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Lucian A. Harris, 79, of Alton, died Nov. 25, 1998, in Saint Anthony's Health Center. He had served as director of public works in the City of Alton, prior to retirement. He is survived by a brother, Berry of Alton; a sister, Margaret of Alton; sisters-in-law, Virginia of St. Louis, and Dorothy of Alton; and long-time friend, Alice Wood and her daughter, Mary. He was best-known as the manger of the Knights of Columbus Alton Council 460, was a past grand knight of the KCs, and a parish trustee of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Alton. He is survived by a sister, Margaret Harris of Alton; sisters-in-law, Virginia Harris of St. Louis, and Dorothy Harris of Alton. Services were through Fine and Quinn Chapel for Funerals in Alton.
