Ronald E. Hauck, 64, of Godfrey, died June 5, 2000, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He married Jean Thomeczek, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Ronald of Alton; daughters, Kathy Hauck of Manhatten Beach, Ca., Karen Villalpando of LaCanada, Ca., Karol Gray of Fort Lewis, Wa., and Kristi Windish of Naperville; and a brother, Larry of Godfrey. He was president of Thomeczek Oil Co., and a past president of the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Godfrey. Haun 11/17/99
Eric Lynn Haun's dedication to serving youth had a positive affect on the lives of many young people. He grew up in Evangelical United Church of Christ, where he was a youth adviser, coached boys and girls softball, coached volleyball, helped form the Alton Little Red Birds wrestling club, and served in many capacities with the Illinois Boots and Saddle Club. He sang, played the piano, and was an auctioneer. His job was that of a pipefitter until a heart attack forced him to retire early. He was recovering from a stroke, and in a wheelchair recently, when he helped recognize many athletes in his church. Haun, 45, of Bethalto, died Nov. 17, 1999, in his home. He married Marcia Bracht, who survives. Also surviving are sons Tony and Travis at home; and sisters, Bonne Wilhelm of Godfrey, and Teresa Haun of Alton. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton. A trust fund for his sons was established at his church in Godfrey.
