John R. Browning, 64, of East Alton, died Jan. 22, 2000. His wife, Charlotte, survives. He retired as a captain with the East Alton Police Department, and was a member of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis. Also surviving are daughters, Vicki Greene and Dawn Rogers, both of East Alton. Services were in Marks Mortuary in Wood River. Paul R. Bruce, 68, of Godfrey, died Jan. 29, 1999, in Alton Memorial Hospital. He married Nancy Cox, who survives.
