Anna Marie Godar, 94, entered into her eternal rest at 10:50 a.m. Friday, June 25, 1999, at Greenwood Manor in Jerseyville. Her husband, John, preceded her in death. She was a full-time mother and grandmother, always devoted to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by and will be missed by her two sons and daughter-in-laws John and Blenna Godar of Alton and Neil J. and Nancy Godar of Godfrey; six daughters and four sons-in-laws, Betty Spahr of Broomfield, Colorado, Mary Ellen Yeager of Fort Collins, Colorado, Carolyn and John Cannella of Alton, Joyce and Ralph Zerr of Godfrey, Kathleen and Clarence Schneider of St. Charles, Missouri, and Janice and Tim Molloy of Alton. A sister-in-law, Theresa Godar of Hardin. 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by one infant son, Kenneth Godar; three brothers Leonard Ewen, Dominic "Tim" Ewen, and Frank Ewen; and a sister Clare Ewen. Visitations were at Burke-Fine Funeral home and the funeral mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Burial was at St. Patrick Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School in Alton.
