Houston Gill, 71, of Godfrey, died May 16, 2000, in his home. He married Shirley Blankenship, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Barry Gill of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; step-daughters, Paula Rind of Sunnyvale, Ca., and Penny Woolworth of Mountain View, CA; a brother, James McCoy of Roxana; and a sister, Juanita Weigler of Godfrey. Services were in Gent Funeral Home in Godfrey. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Anna Marie Godar, 94, entered into her eternal rest at 10:50 a.m. Friday, June 25, 1999, at Greenwood Manor in Jerseyville. Her husband, John, preceded her in death. She was a full-time mother and grandmother, always devoted to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by and will be missed by her two sons and daughter-in-laws John and Blenna Godar of Alton and Neil J. and Nancy Godar of Godfrey; six daughters and four sons-in-laws, Betty Spahr of Broomfield, Colorado, Mary Ellen Yeager of Fort Collins, Colorado, Carolyn and John Cannella of Alton, Joyce and Ralph Zerr of Godfrey, Kathleen and Clarence Schneider of St. Charles, Missouri, and Janice and Tim Molloy of Alton. A sister-in-law, Theresa Godar of Hardin. 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by one infant son, Kenneth Godar; three brothers Leonard Ewen, Dominic "Tim" Ewen, and Frank Ewen; and a sister Clare Ewen. Visitations were at Burke-Fine Funeral home and the funeral mass was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Burial was at St. Patrick Cemetery in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School in Alton.

Charles B. Godfrey, 77, of Alton, died June 18, 1999, in Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton. He married Barbara Stanton, and she survives. Godfrey was a prominent Alton attorney. Also surviving are a son, Dr. Charles of Minneapolis, Mn.; daughters, Elizabeth Terry of Indianapolis, In., and Jane, Sarah and Ann Godfrey, all of Minneapolis; a brother, Frank, Jr., of Mesa, Az.; and a sister, Jeanne Sturley of Edwardsville. Services were through Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Godfrey. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Alton, Carleton College in Northfield, Mn., and the American Heart Association.
