Joe C. Maglasang, 42, of Columbia, died October 7, 2005, near Waterloo. He was born May 12, 1963, in Centreville, the son of Dr. E.F. and June Maglasang nee Volkmann. He is survived by his parents; daughters Tiffany and Taylor of Columbia; ex-wife Betty of Columbia; brothers Edward (Beth) Maglasang of St. Louis, Bob (Camille) Maglasang of Paducah, Kent., David Maglasang of Waterloo, and John Maglasang of St. Louis; special aunts and uncles Clifford (Joyce) Volkmann, Vivian (Ed) Reiss, and Mary (Bruce) Moorash; and other relatives and friends. Mr. Maglasang was self-employed as an environmental engineer. He was an avid outdoorsman. Visitation and a funeral service were at Lawlor Funeral Home, Fr. Steve Gira officiating. Brenda S. Wheeler nee Jenkins, 42, of Waterloo, died October 7, 2005, near Waterloo. She was born May 22, 1963, in Belleville, the daughter of James and Carol Jenkins of Cahokia. She was married to Danny Wheeler. She is survived by her parents; husband; children Kevin Wheeler and Brian Wheeler; brother James (Karen) Jenkins of St. Charles, Mo.; sisters Sharon (Tim) McMillan of Columbia, and Mary Mueller of Highland; and aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Kerri M. Simone nee Heathcock, 40, of St. Louis, died October 7, 2005, in St. Louis. She was born April 7, 1965, in Decatur, the daughter of Phyllis (Danny) Gamble of Decatur and Michael (Jerrie) Heathcock of Sonora, Calif. She married Dan R. Simone in 1991. She is survived by her parents; husband; daughters Amanda (Jeremiah) Bergheger of Columbia, and Elizabeth Simone of St. Louis; sisters Kimberly (Tony) Rauch of Dalton City, and Konnie Bates of M. Zion; brother Rick Heathcock of Iowa; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by granddaughter Maya Grace Bergheger. Mrs. Simone was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia. Richard A. Toenjes, 66, of Hecker, died October 7, 2005, in Columbia. He was born February 10, 1939, in Columbia, the son of the alt3e Leo and Rosella Toenjes nee Helfrich. He was married to Janice Toenjes nee Haudrich. He is survived by his wife; children Lynn Kwasney of Monroe Township, N.J., Lana (Brent) Culver of Montrose, Colo., Jeff (SuAnn) Toenjes of Red Bud, John P. (Dia) Toenjes of Waterloo, and Dean (Ingrid) Toenjes of Waterloo; grandchildren Nicole Kwasney, Angela Kwasney, Janel Culver, Corey Toenjes, Brooke Toenjes, Allie Crimm, Brent Toenjes and Lance Toenjes; sisters Marilyn Haudrich of Hecker and Linda (John) Fritsche of Swansea; Eugene (Cecilia) Toenjes of Columbia and Larry (Dona) Toenjes of Columbia; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce Kreher, brother Donald E. Toenjes and brother-in-law Donald Haudrich. Mr. Toenjes was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hecker. He served as a board member of the Hecker Community Center and was a 40 year member of the Carpenter’s Union of America. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Viola B. Heller nee Mennerich, 87, of Waterloo, died October 8, 2005, in Red Bud. She was born November 1917, in Red Bud, the daughter of the late William and Louisa Mennerich nee Rall. She was married to the late Albert O. Heller. She is survived by her children Clyde (Joyce) Heller of Waterloo and Shirley Heller of Columbia; granddaughter Deanna (Allen) Champion of Waterloo; step-great-grandchildren Clara Champion and Jacob Champion; brother Albert Mennerich of Chester; sisters-in-law Frieda Mennerich of Chester, Irene (Monroe) Sickmeier of Chester, and Alverna Heller of Sparta; brother-in-law August Lohman of Ellis Grove; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Olinda Lohman and Mayme Gaitsch; brother Oscar Mennerich; step-sisters Ella Fehrenz nee Mennerich and Theresa Dannenbrink nee Mennerich; step-brothers William Mennerich and Charles Mennerich; sisters-in-law Emma Harms and Lydia Mueller; and brother-in-law William Heller. Patricia J. Young nee Baltz, 73, of Columbia, died October 10, 2005, in Belleville. She was born July 24, 1932, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Elmer and Adele Baltz nee Spangler. She married the late Frederick C. Young in 1949. She is survived by her sisters Sharon (Scott) Reece of Festus, Mo., and Judy (John) Yuengle of Freeburg; brother David (Debbie) Baltz of Columbia; and nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and infant son David Young. Mrs. Young was a retired newspaper columnist, and contributed to many local newspapers throughout the years. Lola L. Crosby nee Miller, 80, of Waterloo, died October 12, 2005, in Columbia. She was born August 28, 1925, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Everett “Peck” and Nell Miller nee Vaughn. She was married to the late David W. Crosby. She is survived by her children Thomas David Crosby of Saudi Arabia, Rosalind (Paul) Hawkins of Lafayette, La., and Cynthia Leeck of Opdyke; grandchildren David Edmond Crosby, Rosalind Leeck, Henry David “Buster” Leeck; sisters Charlotte Dollar of Festus, Mo., Loretta Sue Jackson of Festus, Mo., and Mary Janet Rhoden of San Clemente, Calif.; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Harold Miller, and son-in-law Douglas Leeck. John Robert Siegel, 80, of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Waterloo, died October 14, 2005, in Broken Arrow, Okla. He was born July 7, 1917, in Webster Groves, Mo., the son of the late Carl Richard and Mary Siegel nee Byrne. He was married to Mabel A. Siegel nee Mueller. He is survived by his wife; children Christine (Michael) Kroeger of High Hill, Mo., and Cynthia (Phillip) Berry of Tulsa, Okla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother Edwin J. (Leota) Siegel of Irondale, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Laura Ann Siegel in infancy. Mr. Siegel was a former member of Waterloo Lions Club and Lou-Del Sanitary District.
