Robert R. Stumpf, 83, of Columbia, died September 24, 2005, in Belleville. He was born May 24, 1922, in Waterloo, the son of the late Adolph and Wilhelmina Stumpf nee Henke. He married Martha Stumpf nee Grahlherr in 1980. He is survived by his wife; children Robert (Patricia) Stumpf of Columbia, and daughter Judy (Larry) Sifford of Branson West. Mo.; stepchildren Leland (Gale) Hesterberg of Charlotte, N.C., Randy Hesterberg of Taipei, Taiwan, and Patricia (Robert) Fritz of Belleville; sisters Helen Glaenzer of Waterloo and Alice Schlemmer of Columbia; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Stumpf and sister Dorothy Schuchardt. Mr. Stumpf was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia. He was retired from Cal-Gas as a truck driver. He was a member of the Smithton Sportsman’s Club and the Columbia Senior Citizens. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. He is buried at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Columbia. William E. Allen, 85, of Waterloo, died September 27, 2005, in St. Charles, Mo. He was born November 8, 1919, in Dawson Springs, Ken., the son the late William R. and Maude Mae Allen nee Parker. He was married to the late Martha N. Allen nee Mansell. He is survived by his children Tammy (Bill) Courtney of Millstadt, Billy Michael (Nancy) Allen of St. Charles, Mo., and Alice Renee Sentiff of St. Charles, Mo.; grandchildren Angela (Burk) Watts, Jason (Cheri) Courtney, Joseph (Sasha) Courtney, Kurt Von (Shannon) Daesch, Jon Courtney, Amanda Allen and Michael Allen; great-grandchildren Tyler Daesch, Tanner Watts, Rylie Courtney, and Nathaniel Watts; sister Novella (Richard) Watts of Dawson Springs, Ken.; brother Donald (Francis) Allen of Dawson Springs, Ken.; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Nelson Allen and sisters Cornella Hopper and Clara Burris. Mr. Allen was a member of Columbia American Legion, Aniad Temple, Columbia Masonic Lodge and the Waterloo VFW. Ruth M. Lutman nee Woodward, 57, of Fults, died September 28, 2005, in Fults. She was born November 15, 1947, in East St. Louis, the daughter of Freda Woodward of Collinsville and the late Orville Woodward. She was married to David G. Lutman Sr. She is survived by her mother; husband; children David Jr. (Carrie) Lutman of Ellis Grove, and Sandy Lutman (fiancé Heath Gonzalez) of Fults; grandchildren Geanene Lutman, David Glenn Lutman III, Mallory Casten, Chris Gonzales, and Alexis Gonzalez; sisters Wilma Bowen of Granite City and Shirley (Ron) Majka of Mascoutah; brothers Kenny (Susie) Woodward of Collinsville, and Bobby (Sandy) Woodward of Collinsville; and aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father and brother-in-law Bo Bowen. Mrs. Lutman was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Renault. She worked for St. Clement Hospital in Red Bud for more than 20 years and she was the deputy coroner of Monroe County. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral home. A funeral mass was at Our Lady of Good Counsel, Father Roger Karban officiating. She is buried at St. Mary Cemetery in Renault. Ronald H. Mize, 69, of Columbia, died September 29, 2005, in Columbia. He was born September 3, 1936, In East St. Louis, the son of the late Floyd and Bernice Mize nee Henson. He married Virginia “Gin” L. Mize nee Wojctzuk in 1959. He is survived by his wife; children Michelle Mize of Columbia and Ronald (Karen) Mize of Arnold; grandchildren Anelise Mize, Candace Mize, Ronald Mize III, and Scott turner; sisters Vera Rodenhofer of St. Louis, and Betty Doehler of Swansea; friends Tim (Kay) Smith of Shiloh, and Bud (Mary) Beleville of Marion; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Virgil Mize. Mr. Mize was retired from Medart in St. Louis and had also worked as a welder for St. Louis Shipyards. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and later served in the Army National Guard. A memorial service was held at Columbia City Park, Rev. Douglas Cripe officiating. He was cremated per his wishes.
Helen I. Asselmeier nee Klein, 80, of Columbia, died September 30, 2005, in Columbia. She was born July 1, 2005, in Chaflin Bridge, the daughter of the late Rudolph H. and Ida M. Klein nee Roever. She was married to Clifford C. Asselmeier. She is survived by her husband; children Charles C. (Mary) Asselmeier of Columbia, John R. (Jane) Asselmeier of Kirkwood, Mo., Joseph R. (Judith) Asselmeier of Greenville, N.C., and Kimberly H. (Dale) Sylvan of Buffalo Grove, N.Y.; grandchildren Melissa M. (Rob) Roessler, Christina C. Asselmeier, Andrew J. Asselmeier, Aaron J. Asselmeier, Rachel L. Sylvan and Hannah K. Sylvan; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ardell Kleyer and Arlene Maher, and brothers Harold P. Klein and Rudolph A. Klein. Mr. Asselmeier was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. She was a member of Valmeyer American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Waterloo VFW Auxiliary and Maeystown Preservation Society. Dora C. “Mamie” Jehling nee Jahr, 98, of St. Louis, formerly of the Waterloo/Columbia area, died August 2, 2005, in St. Louis. She was born November 11, 1906, in Valmeyer. She was married to the late Clemens D. Jehling. She is survived by her daughter Janet R. (Julian Kohler) Thompson of St. Louis; daughter-in-law Helen J. Jehling of Quincy; grandchildren Rick A. Diemert, Elise R. Brasidio, Michelle J. Esson, Terry J. (Linda) Jehling, and Suzette R (Kevin) Krummel; great-grandchildren Bruce P. Jehling, Kathryn E. Krummel, Will D. Krummel and Conor D. Black; great-great-grandchildren Theodore D. Krummel, Cameron J. Jehling, and Jacob W. Jehling; brothers Raymond “Chick” Jahr of Columbia and Kenneth (Audrey) Jahr of Columbia; and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bernadine Mary Dick nee Lang, 78, of Paderborn, died August 3, 2005, in Paderborn. She was born March 10, 1927, in Springfield, the daughter of the late Henry and Grace Lang see Smith. She was married to the late Donald E. Dick; he preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by her children Donald (Janet) Dick of Belleville, Debra (David) Lewis of Floraville, and Dale (Mary) Dick of St. Ann, Mo.; step-daughter Diana Hoffarth; grandchildren Natalie Agne Dick, Holly Lewis and Dale Dick Jr.; brothers Harry Lang, Ernie (Peg) Lang, and Donnie (Joyce) Lang; sisters Virginia and Betty; friends Betty and Tracy Harding and Joseph Jurak III; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Alfred Lang and Dorothy Apgar. Mrs. Dick was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Floraville. Fred G. Miller, 73, of Red Bud, died August 4, 2005, in St. Louis. He was born April 7, 1932, in Belleville, the son of the late Fred G. and Alma Miller nee Peter. He married Janet McIntyre in 1958. He is survived by his wife; children Barry (Mary) Miller of Austin, Tex., Carton (Danette) Miller of Red Bud, Jill (Dennis) Phegley of Red Bud, and Julie (Jeff) Heidel of Red Bud; grandchildren Jeremy Miller, Nicole Miller, Jami Heidel, Jenna Heidel, Joel Heidel, Jesse Heidel, Michael Miller and Tessa Miller; brother Edward (Mary Ann) Miller of Belleville; sister Louise Voegtle of Belleville; sister-in-law Marilyn Miller of Columbia; brother-in-law Danny McIntyre of Phoenix, Ariz.; uncle Ardell “Snap” Currat of Red Bud; aunt Maxine Wright of Red Bud; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Wayne Miller. Mr. Miller was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ruma. He was chairman of the church council and Men’s Club at St. John’s. He was a member of VFW Post #6632 in Red Bud, the Red Bud Planning Committee, Masonic Lodge of Belleville, and the Chester, Red Bud and Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School in Evansville school boards, and was overseer of the Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School building. He was chairman of the Red Bud Park Board, a 32nd degree Shriner. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict on submarine duty. Visitation was at Welge-Pelachek Funeral Home in Red Bud. Funeral services were at St. John Lutheran Church in Ruma, Rev. James Leistice officiating. He is buried at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Ruma. Otis Guy Buckman, 75, of Waterloo, formerly of Smithton, died August 5, 2005, in Belleville. He was born October 24, 1929, in Shelbina, Mo., the son of the late William Otis and Frances Buckman nee Jarboe. He was married to Linda A. Buckman nee Adams. He is survived by his wife; children Del Buckman of Monroe City, Mo., Marla Morris of Hannibal, Mo., Sid Buckman of Monroe City, Mo., Jenine Zeiger of Monroe City, Mo., Bridget Potterfield of Monroe City, Mo., Roch Buckman of Monroe City, Mo., Guyla Behring of Monroe City, Mo., Jill Buckman of Waterloo and Dana Buckman of Waterloo; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings Veronica Gardner, James Buckman, Sam Buckman, Jane Hightower and Madge Riley; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Rick Adams, Mark Adams and Susan Seward; aunts Josephine Gander and Kathleen Montgomery; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Laura McElroy and daughter in infancy Mary Dorothea Buckman. Mr. Buckman was a member of the Illinois Pilots Association and Flying Dutchmen Club.
