Roger Lee Cording, 51, of Waterloo, died August 29, 2005, in Red Bud. He was born November 28, 1953, in Red Bud, the son of Mary Lou Ahne nee Martin and the late Kenneth C. Cording. He is survived by his mother and step-father Henry Ahne; sister Sandra Varner of Marion; step-brothers Bryan Ahne of Waterloo and Kim Ahne of Waterloo; step-sister Nelly Ahne of Waterloo; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents Emery and Edna Martin and Lilly and Edward Cording. Visitation and funeral services were at DeFabio Funeral Home, Pastor Mary Beth Hartenstein. He is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo.

Lois A. Trankle nee Schorr, 80, of Waterloo, died July 2, 2005, in Waterloo. She was born December 2, 1924, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Oscar and Lavina Schorr nee Lavelle. She was married to the late Clarence J. Trankle. She is survived by her children Joseph (Kathy) Trankle of Waterloo, Barbra (Robert Hart) Baker of York, Penn., and Katherine A. Trankle of Waterloo; grandchildren Krystal Trankle, Kari Trankle, Evelyne (Joseph) Thomas and Darrell Trankle; great-grandson Kyler Joseph Trankle; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son Curtis Trankle in infancy. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, Pastor Matt Friz officiating. Marjorie Eileen Schickedanz nee Stahlheber, 88, of Kailua, Hawaii, formerly of Pinckneyville, died July 4, 2005, in Town and Country, Mo. She was born August 24, 1916, in Pinckneyville, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Myrtle Stahlheber nee Quigley. She married the late George Schickedanz in 1943; he preceded her in death in 1989. She was survived by her sons Jon (Susie) Schickedanz of Sunset Hills, Mo., and Michial Schickedanz of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter Marlene (Ken) Wilson of Kailua, Hawaii; grandchildren Nils Schickedanz, Christiaan Schickedanz, Lee Schickedanz, Aaron Schickedanz, Ryan Sorggnard, Grant Wilson, Keaka Wilson, Sophia Wilson, Jon Schickedanz, and Erik Schickedanz; great-grandchildren Halley and Allysa; brothers Delbert “Plug” (Jan) Stahlheber of Rockford and Earl (Betty) Stahlheber of Dongola, formerly of Columbia; and sister Eunice Reith of Swansea. Mary F. Hines nee Hirsch, 69, died July 5, 2005, in Columbia. She was born January 29, 1936, in LaBelle, Mo., the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Mabel Hirsch nee Byers. She married her husband, Chester Hines, in 1959 in Hollywood, Calif. She is survived by her husband, daughters Denise (Jody) Johnson of Columbia, and Joanna Vogt of Waterloo; son Kenneth (Susie) Hines of Columbia; and grandchildren Erica Johnson, Andy Johnson, D.J. Hines, Alyssa Vogt and Avery Vogt; sisters Joanne Tungate of LaBelle, Mo.; Elaine Stutsman of Hannibal, Mo.; and Bonnie Ashford of LaBelle, Mo.; niece Glenna Ford of Dupo; great-niece Tracy Hall of Dupo; special friend Pauline Niehaus of Columbia; sister-in-law Ellen (Jerry) Guyton of Reno, Nev.; and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Hines was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia. She retired as a sales representative with Singer and Associates in St. Louis. Vera W. Smith nee Rippelmeyer, 98, of Columbia, died July 7, 2005, in Columbia. She was born July 9, 1906, in Harrisonville, the daughter of the late William and Louisa Rippelmeyer nee Hammer. She was married to the late Albert W. Smith; he preceded her in death in 1975. She is survived by her sons Vernon (Lucille) Smith of Columbia and William (Mathilda) Smith of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Darlene Smith and sister Luella Koch. Mrs. Smith was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, where she had been active with the Women’s Guild. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral services were at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Rev. Gary Proctor officiating. She is buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Earl Mosbacher, 79, of Waterloo, died July 8, 2005, in Red Bud. He was born April 12, 1926, in Valmeyer, the son of the late Ernst and Emma Mosbacher nee Linker. He was married to Margie Mosbacher nee Qualls. He is survived by his wife; son Terry Mosbacher of Waterloo; grandchildren Aaron and Amber Mosbacher; sisters Erma Senti of Pacific Grove, Calif., Edna Brown of Valmeyer, and Elsie Mosbacher of Aurora, Colo., sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Lou Holecek, Ann and Leonard Riggs, Ed and Jean Qualls, Fay and Homer Froemling, and Jim and Margaret Qualls; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son Bruce Mosbacher. Mr. Mosbacher retired from Mendenhall Rebuilders in1988. He belonged to Beaver Lake. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, Pastor Mark Buck officiating. A cremation will be held at a later date, per Mr. Mosbacher’s request. Bonita E. Sparwasser nee Brown, 92, of Breese, died July 9, 2005, in Breese. She was born January 30, 1913, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., the daughter of the late Stanley and Bertha Brown nee Clemens. She married Millard E. Sparwasser in 1955; he preceded her in death in 1979. She is survived by her son Roger (Martha) Sparwasser of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; grandchildren Paul (Anna) Sparwasser, Max Sparwasser and Jeff (Lee) Sparwasser; niece Evelyn (Richard) Dietzel; and great-nephew Larry Dietzel. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and a sister. Mrs. Sparwasser was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Breese, Women of the Moose Chapter 392 in Mascoutah, and Breese Senior Citizens. She was an avid bowler into her 80’s and belonged to the Tuesday Night Ladies Bowling League at V&H in Breese. Funeral services were held at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese, Pastor Dale Starr officiating. She is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Diane L. Valleroy nee Pelacek, 52, of Dupo, died July 10, 2005, in Dupo. She was born December 5, 1995, in Florissant, Mo., the daughter of the late Paul and Dolly Pelacek nee Decker. She was married to the late Butch Valleroy; he preceded her in death in 1995. She is survived by her daughters Rachel (William) Maxwell of DeSoto, Mo., and Tara Valleroy (Michael Range) of Red Bud; step-children Cristine Fischer, Jill Valleroy (Johnny Becker), James (Kathy) Valleroy, and Joseph (Amanda) Valleroy; grandchildren Cari, Blayke and Joey; sisters Carol Tipton, Karen Babb, Donna Dixon and Kim Ghrist; brothers Paul Pelacek, Mark Pelacek and Jim Pelacek; and dear friends William Harris and Mike Hammond. Louis E. Delatine Sr., 92, of Hecker, died July 11, 2005, in Columbia. He was born July 11, 2005, in East St. Louis, the son of the late Louis and Mable Delatine nee Gardner. He was married to the late Helen L. Delatine nee Klenzle. He is survived by his children Louis E. (Kathy) Delatine Jr. of Millstadt, and Jeanne Kaltenbronn of Hecker; grandchildren Chad Delatine of Millstadt, Christopher (Dawn) Kaltenbronn of Waterloo, Karen Kaltenbronn of Hecker, Kevin (Silvia) Kaltenbronn of Hecker, Kirk Kaltenbronn of Chicago, and Kenny (Jessie) Kaltenbronn of Valmeyer; great-grandchildren CJ Delatine Jr. of Mascoutah, Mercedes, Marryn, Kole and Lidia Kaltenbronn, and Logan and Conner Kaltenbronn; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son-in-law Michael G. Kaltenbronn. Mr. Delatine was a member of St. Augustine Church in Hecker and the North County Country Club. He attended St. Regis Catholic Grade School, East St. Louis High School and McKendree College. He played minor league baseball as a pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals organization and later the F.O.Y. in East St. Louis. He was a pattern maker at American Steele and retired from Alvin B. Clark Agency as an insurance engineer. He and his wife Helen were avid crappie fishermen. There was no visitation or funeral; a private burial was held. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
Eileen M. Kelley nee Whelan, 80, of Waterloo, died July 11, 2005, in St. Louis. She was born November 30, 1924, in Harrisonville, the son of the late Albert and Anna Whelan nee Jaenke. She was married to Walter J. Kelley Jr. She is survived by her husband; children Carol (David) Biffar of Red Bud and Cletus (Sharon) Kelley of Waterloo; grandchildren Kevin (Becky) Biffar, Eric Kelley, and Kelly (fiancé Mike Murphy) Biffar; sisters Mildred (Oliver) Dehne of Red Bud and Nancy Kruse of Ruma; brothers Cletus (Pat) Whelan of Columbia, Allan (Freda) Whelan of Ames, and Gerald Whelan of Prairie du Rocher; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Mabel Whelan, Jim and Rosella Kelley, Jim and Josephine Devine, Edward and Rita Kelley, Helen Meisenbach and Rita Kelley; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Gene Kelley, brother LeRoy Whelan, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nephews. Mrs. Kelley was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Tipton and the Alter Society. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral mass was said at St. Patrick’s Church by Fr. Jose Jacob.
