John Joseph Ring
John Joseph Ring, 70, of Jacksonville and formerly of Winchester died Sunday morning at this home.
He was born November 9, 1929 in Jacksonville the son of Albert Bernard and Elsie Natalie (Morrison) Ring.
Mr. Ring attended Winchester schools and the Chicago Academy of Art. He served in the US Navy for 9 years and then served in the Merchant Marine.
Mr. Ring worked in Industrial Security in California for many years until his retirement. He was of the Catholic faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister Natalie Ring.
Survivors include 2 sisters Ann Marie (husband Anthony) Shinn of Houston, Texas, Nancy Ellen Ott of Boston, Massachusetts, and a brother Albert B. Ring of Winchester.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday (October 18,2000) at St. Marks Church in Winchester. Burial will be in St. Marks Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Tuesday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A Rosary service will be held at 8:00 PM Tuesday.
Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Henrietta "Teddy" Roberts (Sarver)
Henrietta “Teddy” Roberts, age 94, of Griggsville, Ill. died Tuesday evening (Oct. 24, 2000) at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill..
She was born May 14, 1906 in Beardstown, Ill. daughter of the late Ed and Della Leona Kelly Sarver.
She married George Samuel Roberts in Jacksonville, Ill. and he preceded her in 1978.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Mrs. Mike (Sally) Kirby of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Jerry (Rhonda) Harrison of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Mrs. Terry (Rita) Kuster of Neponset, Ill., and Mrs. David (Georgia) Browder of Chillicothe, Ill.; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Ellis of Griggsville, Ill. and Lola Danner of Pittsfield, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews including Lyndle Ellis and wife Kim of Griggsville, Ill. who was raised in her home and his children Kristin Kemper and Lynley Ellis who were like grandchildren to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Harold Eddie Davis; two sisters, Vivian Brooks and Ina Lemons; and three brothers, Art, George, and Eddie Sarver.
Mrs. Roberts had been employed by Trio Manufacturing in Griggsville, Ill. for thirty years prior to her retirement. She also worked for Ellis Super Buy in Griggsville for fifteen years. She loved to quilt and sew.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday (Oct. 27, 2000) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. with Rev. Jeff Allen officiating. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery in Griggsville, Ill.. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Pike County Cancer Transportation Fund.

Mrs. Freida S. Kline Roberts
Freida S. Kline Roberts, 77, of Jacksonville, Illinois died Tuesday evening, September 26, 2000 at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born March 7, 1923 in Callaway County, Kentucky the daughter of Wylie and Mary Magdeline. She married Howard P. Kline and he preceded her in death. She later married Thomas Roberts and he also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald G. (wife,Sandra) Kline of Oxford, Michigan and Michael (wife,Jennifer) Kline of Jacksonville, Illinois, 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and one brother, Jerry Gupton of Clay, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Mrs. Roberts was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family.
Private services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to your local hospice. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Leo Vedder Robinson
Leo Vedder Robinson, 87, of Winchester died Tuesday evening (November 21, 2000) at the Scott County Nursing Center.
He was born August 15, 1913 in Winchester the son of the late Charles Andrew and Lena McLaughlin Robinson.
He married Frances Louise Weder April 6, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri. She preceded him in death March 14, 1983.
Also preceding him in death were 2 brothers Fred and Carl Robinson and a sister Mary Edna Albers.
Survivors include his children Wanda K. (husband Bob) Peck of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Charles William (Bill) (wife Pat) Robinson of Winchester and Beverly Ann (husband Don) Nelson of Jacksonville. 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Robinson was a 1932 graduate of Winchester High School. He was a farmer. He was a member of the Winchester United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He had also been a member of the Moose Lodge in Jacksonville and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Pioneer Lodge 70 in Winchester.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday (November 25, 2000) at the Winchester United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Friday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Winchester United Methodist Church or to the Scott County Nursing Center.

Mr. Joseph Donnell "Don" Robinson Jr.
Joseph Donnell “Don” Robinson, Jr., 75, of Jacksonville died Tuesday morning, June 27, 2000 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born February 21, 1925 in Jacksonville the son of Joseph Donnell and Lillian Mae White Robinson, Sr. He married Dorothy Marie Jones on August 30, 1950 at the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Gordon (wife, Susie Miers) Robinson of Jacksonville; two daughters, Donna (husband, Michael) Barnes of St. Louis and Dolores (husband, Joel) Siegel of Fresno, California; seven grandchildren, and one brother, John H. “Jack” (wife, Helen) Robinson of Jacksonville.
Mr. Robinson farmed in the Jacksonville area. He was a member of the Church of Our Saviour.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2000 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 5 :45 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Routt High School.

Mr. Ernest C. Roodhouse
Ernest C. Roodhouse, age 97, of White Hall, died Monday afternoon,
Jan. 1, 2001 at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall.
He was born April 14, 1903 in White Hall, the son of Charles
Benjamin and Abbie L. Tunison Roodhouse.
He married Anna Frances Chapman of March 7, 1943 in Manchester
and she preceded him in death on May 1, 1995.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Dorothy Rimington of
Freeport, Charles Roodhouse of Freeport, Bennett Roodhouse of Green ville,
Rosetta Erb of Green Valley, AZ, Betty Long of East Alton, Jane Gound of
Ashkum, Marilyn Goben of White Hall, Suzanne Steinacher of Carrollton,
Abbie Jean Millgan of Tunkhannock, PA, David Edwards of Edwardsville,
and William Edwards of Peoria. He was preceded in death by one sister,
Abbie Lee Edwards and three brothers, Henry, Edward and Russell
Roodhouse.
Mr. Roodhouse graduated from the White Hall High School in 1920
and attended Illinois College and Brown’s Business College in Jacksonville.
He was a self-employed farmer all his life and farmed the farm located
three miles south of White Hall, known then as the Roodhouse farm. He
was a member of the White Hall Masonic Lodge #80 and served as Master
3 times. He was recently honored for his 75th year as a Mason at the 150th
anniversary of the lodge. He was also a member of the Springfield
Consistory, the Ansar Shrine, and the White Hall Eastern Star Lodge #232,
where he was a Past Matron. He was a member and past president of the
White Hall Cemetery Association Board. He cared for the White Hall
Cemetery for 27 years before retiring in March of 1995. He has commented
that one thing he learned during his tenure on the cemetery board, was that
tombstones are full of history and each one tells a story, and they are hard to
mow around. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in White
Hall all his life and served as church clerk for 13 years. He served in the
U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001 at
the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial in the White
Hall Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home, where public Masonic Services will be conducted at 7:30
p.m.. Memorials are suggested to the White Hall Cemetery.

Mrs. Patsy Ruth Root
Patsy Ruth Root, wife of Rev. Francis “Jack” Root of Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, October 9, 2000 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born on July 6, 1942 in Ava, Illinois the daughter of Calvin and Maryhelen Trail Pulcher. She married Francis “Jack” Root on June 18, 1961 in Decatur, Illinois and he survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Andrew (fiancé, Brandy Woodrow) Root of Findlay and Peter (wife, Tara) Root of Bethany; two daughters, Jacqueline (husband, Larry) Conlin of Bethany and Tina Brink of Collinsville; seven grandchildren; one brother, Robert Pulcher of Decatur; and two sisters, Dorothy Jean (husband, Russell) Beals of Bement and Mary Evellyn (husband, Bud) Pharris of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Ronald Lee Root; one daughter, Connie Root; and three brothers, Donald (surviving wife Wenona of Mechanicsburg), Jerry, and Freddie.
Mrs. Root had been employed as an inspector with Hertzberg- New Method Book Bindery in Jacksonville since coming to Jacksonville in April of this year. Prior to that, she had been employed as a seamstress with Bridal Originals in Collinsville and Lafayette Venetian Blind in West Lafayette, Indiana; and in the dietary at Fairhavens Christian Home in Decatur. Mrs. Root was currently serving, along with her husband, at Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2000 at Calvary Baptist Church with burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church.

Mr. John A. Roth
John A. Roth, 53, of Miami, Fla. formerly of Green e Co. died at 5:45 A.M. on Monday June 26,
2000 at his residence unexpectedly.
Born in Carrollton on Feb. 12, 1947 he was the son of Francis and Gertrude Sievers Roth of
Carrollton.
He was married to the former Xamara Portu in Miami in 1990 and she survives. Also surviving
besides his parents and wife are 2 daughters: Christine Haynes and Lisa Roth both of Springfield and a
son Fred Roth of Gurney,a step daughter: Barbara Alvarez and a step son: Manuel Brito . 2 sisters:
Kaye Carpenter of Elsah and Karen Long of Dorsey and 2 brothers: David Roth of Jerseyville and Jerry
Roth of Carrollton also survive. He has I grandson: Anthony W. Roth and a step granddaughter: Alyss
Calle.
Mr. Roth was a service station manager and will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be from 9 A.M. on Friday until service time at I I A.M. at
St. John's Catholic Church in Carrollton. Burial will be in the church cemetery and memorials may be
made to the American Diabetes Assn.

Mrs. Viola Lillian Rudisill (Reed)
Viola Lillian Rudisill, 83, of Jacksonville died Thursday afternoon, July 13, 2000 at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born on August 21, 1916 in rural Scott County the daughter of Robert and Elva Fernandes Reed. She married Leondard Dale Rudisill on March 7, 1936 at Concord and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1992.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn (husband, B.J.) Gregory of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one sister, Violet Logan of Merritt. She was preceded in death by one sister in infancy.
Mrs. Rudisill had assisted her husband on the family farm and had been a nurses aide at Passavant Hospital for 13 years. She was a member of Lynnville United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2000 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

Mr. Herschel Rumple
Herschel Rumple, age 79, of Griggsville, Ill. died 9:24 p.m. Monday (November 6, 2000) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill..
He was born December 26, 1920 in Griggsville, Ill. son of the late Charles Everett and Delphia Zimmerman Rumple.
He married Jackie Gray on June 3, 1978 in Griggsville, Ill. and she preceded him in death on May 24, 1991.
Surviving is his step-mother, Ruby Crum of Pittsfield, Ill.; two sisters, Thelma Davis of Alton, Ill. and Mrs. Russell (Ladema) Sappington of Griggsville, Ill.; two nieces, Cathy Doyle and Sandra Beattie both of Alton, Ill.; two nephews, Steve and Scott Sappington both of Griggsville, Ill.; and a great-nephew, Robert Doyle of Alton, Ill..
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one brother, Virgil Rumple.
Mr. Rumple was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the U.S. Army and was a self-employed carpenter for many years who enjoyed hunting. He was a member of the Griggsville American Legion Post #213.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday (November 9, 2000) at the Griggsville United Methodist Church in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. David Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery with graveside military rites provided by Griggsville American Legion Post #213.. Visitation will be held from noon Thursday until the time of service at the Griggsville United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

John William Ryan
John W. Ryan, 89, of Springfield and formerly of Winchester died early Friday afternoon (December 8, 2000) at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield.
He was born October 5, 1911in Winchester the son of the late Richard W. and Mary Farrell Ryan.
Mr. Ryan attended Winchester Schools, after graduating he moved to New Jersey and worked for the Department of Defense during the Second World War. He returned to Winchester in 1945 to join his father in his Insurance agency.
He returned to New Jersey in 1956. He resided there until he returned to Springfield in 1999.
Preceding him in death were his parents and 2 brothers and 1 sister.
He is survived by a sister Mrs. Joseph (Catherine) Link of Springfield.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am Monday (December 11, 2000) at St. Marks Church in Winchester.
Burial will be in St. Marks Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials can be made to St. Patrick School Endowment Fund in Springfield.
The Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester is in charge of the arrangements.
