Floyd Vetter
Floyd Vetter, 82, of Carrollton went to be with his Lord on Saturday
August 19, 2000 at 1:50 P.M. at Reisch Memorial Nursing Home in
Carrollton.
Born in Kampsville on July 25, 1918 he was the son of the late John C.
and Rosetta Curtis Vetter.
On Oct. 14, 1946 he married the former Louise Anson in Carrollton and
she survives. Also surviving are: 3 sons-Larry (wife, Renee) Vetter of
Broken Arrow, Ok., Richard (wife, Barbara) Vetter of Covina, Calif., and
Dr. Daniel (wife, JoAnn) Vetter of Cottage Hills. 5 grandchildren:Mike
(wife, Cathleen) Vetter, Troy (wife Jessica) Vetter, Vickie Vetter, Tammy
Siwiecki and Joaquin Roach. There are 5 great grandchildren: Lily Beth,
Gracie, Benjamin, and Rachel Vetter and Sara Siwiecki. One sister: Ruby Kramer of Pittsfield,
and one brother: John Tunney Vetter of Nebo also survive.
He was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Sylvia Wease, Lwona Daack and
June Squire and 4 brothers: Siebert, Cedric “Shad”, Olin and Lyndell Vetter.
Mr. Vetter was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran serving in North
Africa and Italy predominantly. He retired from Olin Corp. in Alton in 1983
after many years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Carrollton, the Carrollton American Legion Post, VFW Post # 15014 in
Springfield and the Jerseyville Moose Lodge.
Visitation will be from 5-9 P.M. on Wednesday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton. Services will be held on Thursday at 2 P.M. at
the Carrollton First Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Carrollton City
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or the Blessing Hospice of
Green e Co.

Mrs. Frances P. Vinyard (Anthony)
Frances P. Vinyard, age 74, of Pittsfield, formerly of Roodhouse, died
early Sunday morning, Nov. 19, 2000 at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield.
She was born Sept. 14, 1926 in Roodhouse, the daughter of Jasper
and Julia Browning Anthony.
She married William D. “Bill” Vinyard on July 17, 1947 in
Roodhouse and he preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1990.
She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Vinyard of Pittsfield; and
one sister, Florence “Peggy” Cook of Woodriver. She was preceded in
death by four sisters, Edith Pendt, Ona Lee Anthony, Betty Miller and Sara
L. “Sue” Ashlock.
Mrs. Vinyard lived all her life in Roodhouse and for the past ten years
made her home with her daughter, Rhonda, in Pittsfield. She was a retail
clerk in Roodhouse for 18 years, most of that time at the Marianne Shop.
She was of the Baptist faith and attended the First Baptist Church while
living in Roodhouse. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000
at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial in the
Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. The family will meet friends from
4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to
the Pittsfield Senior Citizens.

Ms. Mae G. Wade
Mae G. Wade, age 98, of the Barry Community Care Center in Barry, Ill. and formerly of rural Griggsville, Ill. died late Sunday evening (May 28, 2000) at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, Illinois.
She was born August 28, 1901 in rural Griggsville, Ill. daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Brown Wade.
Surviving are three nieces, Mrs. Howard (Marilyn) Staffy and Mrs. Dale (Cindy) Shelton both of Griggsville, Ill., and Sue Dehart of Mt. Zion, Ill.; three nephews, Clayton Dehart and wife Kaye of Barry, Ill., Robert Dehart and wife Karen of Baylis, Ill., and Charles Dehart of California and several great nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret Wade and Louise Dehart; two brothers, Charles and Clinton Wade; and one nephew, Allen Dehart.
Ms. Wade was retired schoolteacher teaching for 32 years in Brown, Morgan, and Pike counties. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, sewing, gathering history and genealogical work. She lived most her life in the Bethel community on the family farm where she was born and loved caring for animals on the farm. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the AARP, National Retired Teachers Association, lifetime member of the Pike-Calhoun Retired Teachers Association, and was a contributing member of the Griggsville Genealogical and Historical Society. Mae had made her home since April 30, 1996 at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry, Ill..
Funeral services for Mae G. Wade were held 11
a.m. Wednesday (May 31, 2000) at the
Skinner-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in
Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. David Schultz officiating.
Pallbearers were Donald Manker, Dale Shelton,
Howard Staffy, Ryan Curfman, Rick Curfman,
and nephew Clayton Dehart. Burial was in Bethel
Cemetery near Griggsville, Ill. Memorials may be made to Bethel Cemetery or the Skinner House c/o the funeral home.

Mr. Harold F. Besaw
Harold F. Besaw, age 79, of White Hall, died Thursday, Jan. 11,
2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born May 16, 1921 in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the son of John
Theodore and Golda Lucille Schumacher Besaw.
He is survived by one daughter, Marsha M. (husband, James T.) Shaw
of Carrollton; three sons, James L. Besaw of White Hall, David P. Besaw of
Jerseyville and Dean (wife, Joan) Besaw of Jacksonville; five
grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death
by three brothers, Victor, Raymond and Earl Besaw; a half-sister, Ursaline
Bradshaw and two half-brothers, Fred and Bill Kaslick.
Mr. Besaw worked at Olin Corp. in Alton for 26 years, retiring in
1978. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II, stationed
in the South Pacific for the majority of the war. He was a member of the
VFW in Roodhouse and a member of the Prairieland Heritage Museum in
Jacksonville.
Following cremation, private services will be held. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. The Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall is in charge of arrangements.

Blanche Wallace
Blanche Wallace, 86, of Alsey died Monday morning (October 2, 2000) at the Scott County Nursing Center.
She was born May 28, 1914 in Winchester the daughter of Clifford L. and Ruth Southwell Cooper.
She married Howard O’Rielly in 1930 in Vandalia, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1937. She married Carl O. Wallace in 1943 in Eolia, Missouri. He preceded her in death February 22, 1962. Also preceding her was her brother John Samuel Cooper and her sister Loretta Palmer Day, also a grandson Tommy Garrett and a great grandson Toby Nicholson.
Mrs. Wallace was a graduate of Alsey High School, she was of the Baptist faith and attended Alsey Baptist Church and Barrow Baptist Church. She taught the Adult Sunday school class at Alsey Baptist Church for many years. She was a homemaker who loved her grandchildren, board games, reading and studying from her Bible.
Surviving are her children Joan (husband Kenneth) Garrett, Judy (husband Carl) Woodcock, Connie Cox, Samuel (wife Carla) Wallace all of Alsey. 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday (October 5, 2000) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in Bowers Cemetery near Alsey.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Scott County Nursing Center or to AHC.

Mrs. Marjorie Jane Watson (Marsh)
Marjorie Marsh Watson, 76, of Jacksonville died Saturday evening, December 30, 2000 at her residence. She was born on February 22, 1924 in Decatur the daughter of Dr. T. Harley and Bertha Anderson Marsh.
Following college at Beloit and Lacrosse, Wisconsin, she married David S. Watson on November 15, 1947 in Jacksonville. At that time, Mr. Watson was the Alumni Secretary at Illinois College and an Associate Professor of History, and Mrs. Watson was teaching kindergarten at the School for the Visually Impaired. After Dr. Watson received his Ph.D in history from the University of Chicago, the couple relocated to Dennison University, Granville, Ohio where Mrs. Watson taught Early Childhood Development at the same university.
Mrs. Watson is survived by two sisters, Betty (husband, William) Dawdy of Jacksonville and Virginia Gore of Decatur; one brother, John W. Marsh of Vienna, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, Ruth Marsh Ward, Esther Donahoe, and Mary Martin; and one brother, Baird A. Marsh. Mrs. Watson was a member of the Episcopalian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2000 at the Williamson Funeral Home. The family will meet friends following the service. Memorials are suggested to Illinois College.

Helen Wayham (Brach)
Helen Wayham, 86, of Bridgeton, Mo. died at 7:45 P.M. on Monday Dec.
25, 2000 at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
Born in Cisne, Ill. on April 22, 1914 she was the daughter of the late
Ralph and Nellie Garrison Brach.
On March 30, 1940 she married Hugh Tom Wayham in St. Louis and he
survives. Also surviving are: a sister: Georgie (husband-Ralph) Orr of Geff,
Ill. and a sister-in-law: Margie Brach of Geff, Ill. Several nieces and
nephews and great nieces and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death by a brother Garrison Brach.
Helen had worked as a seamstress and was a long time member of the
Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Geff, Ill. She was a charter member of
the American Legion Aux. in Cisne, Ill.
Graveside rites will be held on Thursday at 1:30 P.M. at Carrollton City
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers. Airsman-Hires Funeral
Home in Carrollton is in charge.

Margaret Weber
Margaret Weber, 85, of Carrollton died at 9:25 A.M. on Wednesday Nov. 1,
2000 at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Born in Rockbridge on December 13, 1914 she was the daughter of the
late John and Eliza Dixon Weber.
Surviving are a brother Leland Weber of White Hall and several nieces
and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Ica Darr and Mary Darr and 7
brothers: Henry, Herschel, George, Adam, Edward, Lester and John Weber.
Margaret was a member of the Carrollton First Baptist Church and had
spent much of her life caring for the elderly. She will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be from 10 A.M. Friday until service time at 11 A.M. at
the Carrollton First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Carrollton City
Cemetery and memorials may be made to the Carrollton First Baptist Church.
