Mr. John "Pee Wee" Wheeler
John “Pee Wee” Wheeler, 67, of Eldred died at 9:15 A.M. on Friday Dec. 15,
2000 at Jefferson Barracks VA Hospital in St. Louis.
Born in Green field on August 19, 1933 he was the son of the late
Rockwell “Rocky” and Lucille Clendenen Wheeler.
He married the former Doris Mason on Feb. 27, 1961 and they were
divorced.
Surviving are a daughter: Sandy Green of Brussels and 2 sons: Rick and
Joe Wheeler both of Eldred, 5 grandchildren: Jimmy, Amanda, Sam, Lucas
and Molly, 2 sisters : Claudia Denny of Hardin and Ellen Stephany of
Sanford, Fla.
Mr. Wheeler was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.
He had been a truck driver for many years most recently the last 15 years for
Cisco Steel retiring in 1997. He was an active member of the Eldred
American Legion Post and for many years helped conduct countless Military
Rites for other deceased veterans.
Graveside rites will be held on Tuesday at 1 P.M. at Eldred Memorial
Gardens Cemetery with full military rites by the Eldred American Legion.
Friends may visit at the cemetery from 12:15 until service time on Tuesday.

Mr. Harold D. White
Harold D. White, age 64, of Griggsville, Ill. died Sunday afternoon (November 26, 2000) at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, Ill..
He was born August 30, 1936 in Pike County, Mo. son of the late Ruben and Mary Burrough White.
He married Cindy Chapman on February 15, 1975 in Griggsville, Ill. and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Melinda) Cawthon and Casey White both of Griggsville, Ill. and Lee Ann White of Littleton, Colorado; two grandchildren, Trever White and Katie Cawthon both of Griggsville, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Edwin (Julia Ann) Diggs of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ruth Norman of Payette, Idaho; two brothers, Carl White of Nebo, Ill. and Edward White of Bartonville, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margret Niffen and Helen Graham; and one brother, Raymond White.
Mr. White was a driver for Trinity Industry in Quincy, Ill. for many years before retiring in 1993. Following his retirement, he was self-employed in yard maintenance in Griggsville, Ill. and was a member of the Griggsville Regular Baptist Church and a past U.S. Navy reservist. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and coin collecting.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday (November 29, 2000) at the Griggsville Regular Baptist Church in Griggsville, Ill. with Rev. Dennis Will officiating. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by Griggsville American Legion Post #213. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Griggsville Regular Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the family or to the Pike County Heart Association. Mrs. Hazel H. Whiteside (Heberling)
Hazel H. Whiteside, age 93, of Jerseyville, formerly of Carrollton,
died early Sunday morning, July 16, 2000 at the Jerseyville Manor in
Jerseyville.
She was born June 2, 1907 at High Street, south of White Hall, the
daughter of Clyde and Lora Nash Heberling.
She married Clarence A. Whiteside on Dec. 27, 1928 in Georgetown
and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1951.
She is survived by one son, James D. (wife, Rosemary) Whiteside of
Jerseyville; four grandchildren, James A. (wife, Becky) Whiteside of
Roodhouse; Donald L. Reynolds, Jr. of Woodriver, Susan D. Anderson of
Carrollton, and Steven M. (wife, Susan) Reynolds of Carrollton; six great
grandchildren, Mandy, Jennifer, Shana, Aaron, Justin and Jeff; and two
sisters, Ada Seymoure and Winnie Fry, both of White Hall. She was
preceded in death by one son, Robert Whiteside; one daughter, Ruth
Reynolds; three brothers, Ralph Heberling, Dean Heberling and Myron
Heberling and one sister, Mildred Carmean.
Mrs. Whiteside was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist
Church. She was a school teacher in White Hall during her early years and
worked at the Vogt household in Carrollton for many years. She enjoyed
children and baby-sat for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, (July 19,
2000) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with burial in the
White Hall Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the
funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Blessing Hospice of Green e
County or the Carrollton Methodist Church.
Minnie M. Wild
Minnie Marie Wild, 104 of Winchester died early Friday morning (October 27, 2000) at the Scott County Nursing Center.
She was born July 31, 1896 the daughter of George D. and Amelia Spreen Clayton.
She married Edward Thomas Wild on December 24, 1919 in Jacksonville. He preceded her in death May 9, 1985. Also preceding her in death were 6 brothers William, Edward, Herbert, Art, George, and Ernest Clayton, 2 sisters Anna Sehy, and Leta Wild. 4 half brothers Clarence, Donald, Frank, and Ralph Clayton, and a half sister Iva Coleman.
Survivors include a half sister Laura Dixon of Jacksonville, 3 half brothers Robert (wife Veda) Clayton of Pittsfield, Stanley (wife Alma) Clayton of Jacksonville, and Wilfred (wife Fern) Clayton of Murrayville, and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wild was a homemaker and a member of the Winchester United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday (October 30, 2000) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM.

James Harry "Jim" Williams
James Harry “Jim” Williams, 83, of Palmyra died early Thursday morning (July 20, 2000) at Litchfield Healthcare Center in Litchfield.
He was born June 12, 1916 in Springfield the son of the late James Franklin and Pearl Catherine Williams.
He married Lavada Mae Farris Moore May 16, 1953. She preceded him in death June 28, 1989. Also preceding him in death was a son Leslie Eugene Williams.
Mr. Williams was a US Army veteran of the 2nd world war. He had worked as a coal miner, and for LaClede Steel for 22 years and also for the City of Carrollton.
Surviving is a son Clarence Edward Williams of White Hall, 3 daughters Loretta K. Roberts and Mary E. Hamm both of Palmyra and Delores Bishop of White Hall. A stepson Russell Monroe of Roodhouse and 2 stepdaughters Josephine Hamm and Bonnie Wigger both of Palmyra. 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday July 22, 2000 at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra where military graveside rites will be conducted.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.

Mrs. Lillie Mae Wilson
Lillie Mae Wilson, 79, of Waukegan, Illinois and formerly of Scott County, Illinois died Monday August 28, 2000 at the Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home in Zion, Illinois.
She was born March 3, 1921 in Winchester, IL, the daughter of the late Clyde & Mildred Welch. She married Paul L. Wilson February 14, 1969 in Waukegan. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul L. Wilson in 1979 and her brother Clyde Junior Welch.
Lil Wilson (McDaniel) worked as an accountant for many years for Blumberg Furniture and King's Furniture in Waukegan IL. She retired from Cherry Electric in 1991.
She is survived by her two daughters Donna McDaniel of Kenosha, WI., Mrs. Carol (husband Dale) Butson of Grayslake, IL. and a son Wayne McDaniel of Muncie IN. Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday (September 2, 2000) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial will be in Winchester City Cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Mr. David V. Wilson
David V. Wilson, 71, of Jacksonville died Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2000 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born on Huly 21, 1928 in Pisgah the son of Frank James and Myrtle Mae Bland Wilson. He married Betty Goble in 1955 and she preceded him in death on June 8, 1961. He then married Constance L. “Connie” Wilson on July 17, 1964 in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survives by six children, Monte (wife, Jane) Slavens of Arenzville; Mitzie (husband, Buck) Marsh of Jacksonville; Mendy (husband, Jeff) Leonard of Jacksonville; Marty (wife, Candy) Slavens of Bellevue, Nebraska; Michele (husband, Hondo) Huey of rural Jacksonville; and Matthew (wife Amy) Wilson of South Jacksonville; thirteen grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Ann Hemberger of New Berlin.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, two brothers: Benjamin Wilson and Carl Wilson (surviving wife, Julia of Girard); one sister, Grace Hamm (surviving husband Oliver Hamm of Jacksonville), and two sisters in infancy.
Mr. Wilson graduated in 1945 from Franklin High School as Class Valedictorian.
He served in the United States Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean War as a truck driver delivering supplies for the building of bridges in Korea. After the war, he drove a truck for 51 years, 42 for AC Humko in Jacksonville. Mr. Wilson logged over 3 million miles during his years of driving, retiring in 1996.
Mr. Wilson was a life member and Past Post Commander of V.F.W. Post 1379 in Jacksonville, a life member of the Amvets, and a member of the American Legion Post 279, Jacksonville Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus. He was currently serving as Chief of Staff for the 10th District V.F.W.. He was an active participant in the Combined Veterans Unit Funeral Detail, honoring many of his fallen comrades. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Church of Our Saviour and enjoyed family gatherings and reading.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Combined Veterans Unit. Friends may call after noon on Tuesday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 5 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m.. Memorials are suggested to the V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary Post 1379 Cancer Aid and Research Program.
Mr. Robert K. "Kenny" Wilson Sr.
Robert K. "Kenny" Wilson, 77, of Jacksonville was pronounced dead at 10 P.M. unexpectedly at his
residence on Sunday July 2, 2000.
Born in Kane on May 6, 1923 he was the son of the late Ralph and Mildred Waddle Wilson.
On April 6, 1941 he married the former Lelia E. "Billy" Hawk and she survives. Also surviving are a
son and daughter-in-law: Robert K. "Bob" and Mary Lou Wilson Jr. of Green Valley, Ariz.
2 grandchildren: Ken and Greg Wilson and 3 great grandchildren.
Mr. Wilson was the owner operator of Linn and Wilson International Harvester in Green field from
1946 until 1957 when he opened Kenny's Farm Supply in Virginia retiring in 1976.
He was a graduate of Kane High School and a World War 11 Army veteran.
Visitation will be after noon on Wednesday with the family meeting friends from 6-8 P.M. at the
Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 ,)n Thursday at the
funeral home with entombment to follow in the Kane Cemetery at Kane, 111.

Mr. Mancel Thomas Wilson
Mancel Thomas Wilson, 80, of Alsey died late Friday night (June 9, 2000) at Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville.
He was born November 15, 1919 in Scott County the son of Thomas and Pearl Girard Wilson.
He married Geneva Hembrough June 14, 1941 in Bowling Green , Missouri. She preceded him in death September 9, 1988. Also preceding him in death were 2 brothers Wendell and Chester Wilson.
Surviving are his 4 children Larry (wife Annette) Wilson of Charlottesville, Virginia, Mrs. Harold (Jeanne) Gates of Jacksonville, Don (wife Patsy) Wilson of New Berlin, and Mrs. Chuck (Shirley) Roberts of Manchester. 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and a sister Frances Day of Winchester.
Mr. Wilson attended Alsey schools; he served in the US Army in Europe during the 2nd World War. He was the Manager of the Winchester Farmers Elevator for 25 years, retiring in 1985. He was a life time member of the VFW, and was a member of the Winchester American Legion for over 50 years and had served as Commander. He had been very active in the Winchester Burgoo celebration and other Legion sponsored events for many years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday (June 13, 2000) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in Bowers Cemetery near Alsey were military rites will be conducted.
Friends may call after 3:00 PM Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 4:00 until 8:00 PM.

Nelle W. Witt
Nelle W. Witt, 91, of Carrollton died on Sunday evening Oct. 8, 2000 at
10:50 P.M. at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
Born near Rockbridge on July 27, 1909 she was the daughter of the late
Guy and Ida Reed Witt.
Surviving her are: a sister-in-law: Mrs. Elizabeth Witt Osborne of Alton,
2 nieces: JoAnn Beck of Godfrey and Rosemary Murphy of Dallas, Texas,
1 nephew: Jim Witt of Independence, Mo., 7 great nephews and nieces and
12 great-great nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a brother Harry “Jack” Witt and a sister
Dicie E. Wetzel.
She was a 1928 graduate of Green field High School and later received
her teaching certification in elementary education from Western Ill.
University in Macomb in 1933. She taught for over 30 years. Her first 10
years in teaching were spent at various country schools in Green e Co. , and
later she taught at Jerseyville Elementary School for 20 years retiring in 1971.
Miss Witt was a member of the Ill. Retired Teachers Assoc. and had
served as Secretary of the Green e Co. Agricultural Fair for many years.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton where services will be held on Wednesday at 10
A.M. with Rev. Aaron Snodgrass officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill
Cemetery near Green field and memorial donations are suggested to the Boyd
Memorial Hospital “Raise the Roof”.
Mr. Lyle Milton Wooldridge
Lyle Milton Wooldridge, 71, of Jacksonville died Sunday evening, January 7, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield following a heart attack on Saturday. He was born on February 14, 1929 in Patterson, the son of Herman Clifford and Dorothy Mae Murray. He married Lillian Fitzsimmons on December 22, 1953 and she preceded him in death on April 26, 1993. He married Nell Ann Taylor Stone Peck in September of 1996 and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Dale Lee (wife, Karen) Wooldridge of Basalt, Colorado, Christopher Lyle (wife, Debbie) Wooldridge of Shawnee, Kansas, Michael Ray Wooldridge of Carbondale, Colorado; two daughters, Lynn Marie Moore and Lisa Kay Dunham, both of Poway, California; one step-son, Michael Guy (wife, Lisa) Stone of California; two step-daughters, Deborah Stone Fahey of Berwyn, Pennsylvania and Dyann Lynn Stone of Concord, California; six grandchildren, five-step-grandchildren, one brother, Dale (wife, Barbara) Wooldridge of Jacksonville; two sisters, Wilmeth (husband, Eugene) Kessler of Bloomington and Elinor (husband, Wilbur) Vieira of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wooldridge was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Donald, and one sister, Trenna Mae Sauer (surviving husband Paul of Mountain Home, Arkansas.)
Mr. Wooldridge was a member of the Church of Our Saviour and owned Wooldridge Painting and Decorating until his retirement.
Mr. Wooldridge served as a submarine sailor on the U.S.S. Pomfret and Breen in the Asia-Pacific and North Atlantic. He holds many medals from his service years. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 1379 and was a Past-Post Commander. He was a member of the Submarine Veterans, and the Royal Order of Cooties, an honorary submarine association.
Mr. Wooldridge was a lifelong outdoorsman, maintained his extensive vegetable and flower gardens, and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2001 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, where military graveside honors will be accorded. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 5:45 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Routt Catholic High School or a charity of choice.
Mr. Walter Melvin Woolfolk
Walter Melvin Woolfolk, 89, of Carlinville and formerly of Scottville, died Thursday, December 14, 2000 in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born on February 14, 1911, in Scottville, the son of Robert Eugene and Hattie Storey Woolfolk. He married Tesal Florean Maberry on March 10, 1934 in Wood River and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons: Dick (wife, Star) of Sacramento, CA; Melvin Dean (wife, Kathy) of Silvis; and William C. (wife, Marla Katherine) of Carlinville; one daughter, Patricia Ann (husband, Dick) Spencer of O’Fallon; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wendell “Wink” (wife, Ruth) of Springfield. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles; and two sisters: Cleo Claussen and Mildred Turner.
Mr. Woolfolk was a retired farmer and elevator employee, having worked for several different elevators at different times, including: FS Elevator in Palmyra, Farmers Pellets Elevators in Green field and Farmersville, and Beech Grain in Scottville. He was a member of Memorial Christian Church in Carlinville, the Sportsman’s Club, the National Rifle Association, and he bowled for several years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2000 at Memorial Christian Church in Carlinville, with burial at Scottville West Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra and at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Mr. James F. Young
James F. Young, age 89, of Roodhouse, Ill. died Saturday afternoon (May 20, 2000) at the Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester, Ill..
He was born June 10, 1910 in Morgan County, Ill. son of the late Cornelous and Alta Alice Myers Young.
He married Louise Templin on May 26, 1934 in Scott County, Ill. and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Margaret McDade of Winchester, Ill., Marjorie Reynolds of Macon, Ill., and Mary Morrell of Decatur, Ill.; one son, Jesse Young and companion Kathy Mogg of Roodhouse, Ill.; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles Young; two sisters, Lillie Young and Elsie Malone; and one brother, Elwood Young.
Mr. Young was a lifetime grain & livestock farmer farming in Macon, Scott, and Green e counties. He was a member of the Athensville Baptist Church where he served as deacon.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (May 24, 2000) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester, Ill. with Rev. Dean Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Winchester City Cemetery. Mrs. Anna Rose Young (Wicks)
Anna Rose Young, 79, of Jacksonville died Tuesday afternoon, May 23, 2000 at Rivershores Center in Marseilles. She was born on July 1, 1920 in Marion the daughter of Thomas and Ruby Henson Wicks. She married Clayton “Odell” Young on February 28, 1938 in Montgomery City, Missouri and he preceded her in death on August 11, 1991.
She is survived by one daughter, Judith Ann (husband, Alfred) Ward of Seneca; one son, Richard L. (wife, Paulette) Young of Plainfield; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, Mose (wife, Lois) Wicks of Jacksonville, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one half-sister Louise Howard and one half-brother Paul Hobbs.
Mrs. Young and her husband had owned and operated Youngs Uniform Shop on West State Street in Jacksonville. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and the Amvets, VFW, and Moose Auxiliaries.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2000 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Friends may call after 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church.
