Mrs. Audrey Lois Braner (Long)
Audrey Lois Braner, 84, of the Arcadia Area in rural Jacksonville died Sunday evening, July 8, 2001 at Passavant Transitional Care Unit. She was born June 1, 1917 in Beardstown the daughter of Jacob and Maude Amanda Smith Long. She married Russell L. Braner on March 15, 1941 in Bowling Green , Missouri and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1995.
Surviving are three sons, Edward (wife, Linda) Braner , James (wife, Jewel) Braner both of Jacksonville and Dennis (wife, Sharon) Braner of Plano, Texas, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and one sister Frances Lynn of Virginia. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Olga Treadway and Erma Mullens.
Mrs. Braner along with her husband owned and operated Braner Truck Lines from 1940 until 1991. She was a member of the Liter Baptist Church. Mrs. Braner was also an active member of the Ladies Aid and the Arcadia Women’s Club.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Arcadia Cemetery in rural Jacksonville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Liter Baptist Church.
Mrs. Rosella P. Bridges (Summers)
Rosella P. Bridges, age 90, of San Diego, California, formerly of
Manchester, died Friday evening, Oct. 26, 2001 at the Care With Dignity
Nursing Home in San Diego, California.
She was born July 29, 1911 in White Hall, the daughter of William
and Lillie Dyer Summers.
She married Harvey Bridges on March 25, 1927 in East St. Louis and
he preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1983.
She is survived by one son, James (wife, Virgie) Bridges of
Roodhouse; one daughter, Delores (husband, Ray) Dunkleberger of San
Diego, California; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; nine
great-great grandchildren and two brothers, Wayne Summers of
Jacksonville and Floyd Summers of Alton.
Mrs. Bridges was a member of the Manchester Baptist Church. She
was a cook at the Manchester School.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001 at
the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse with burial at the
Manchester Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Janet Kay Britenstine (Nicloy)
Janet Kay Britenstine, 54, of rural Jacksonville died early Friday morning, October 12, 2001 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born July 29, 1947 in Quincy, the daughter of Robert J. and Ruth Loos Nicloy. She married Marvin A. Britenstine on June 12, 1983 in Quincy and he survives.
Also surviving are one son, Robert J. Britenstine at home; one step-son, Marc Britenstine of Jacksonville; her mother, Ruth Nicloy of Quincy; and two sisters, Patricia (husband, William) Nissen of Quincy and Joyce (husband, Joseph) McKenna of Purceville, Virginia.
Mrs. Britenstine had been employed with the State of Illinois, Department of Children and Family Services, for many years. She has worked at the Jacksonville office since 1974 and had been at the Carlinville office prior to that. She enjoyed traveling and had visited most of the continental United States as well as Austrailia, Switzerland, and Mexico. She had been a member of Salem Church, now Salem United Church of Christ, in Quincy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2001 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Sunday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Murrayville-Woodson EMS or the Skin Cancer Foundation.
Rex Boyd Brockhouse
Rex Boyd Brockhouse, 53, of Bluffs and formerly of Winchester passed away suddenly Friday afternoon (September 14, 2001) in Bluffs of natural causes.
He was born January 31, 1948 in Bloomfield the son of the late William A. and Madelyn Mae Pile Brockhouse. He was a 1966 graduate of Winchester High School where he was a standout athlete. He trained as an Electrician. He was a US Army veteran. Mr. Brockhouse had worked as a Lineman for 15 years for Soyland Power. He was a self-employed electrician and for the last 2 years he was Director of Department Works for the Village of Bluffs. He had been a member of the Bluffs Lions Club. He was a member of the Bluffs American Legion and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bluffs. He was an avid golfer and a supporter and volunteer of the athletic programs in Winchester and Bluffs.
Survivors include his children GayLynne (husband Daniel) Hartley of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, and Jayson Brockhouse of Winchester, Megan Brockhouse and Molly Brockhouse both of Bluffs. 3 grandchildren.
3 sisters Barbara (husband Fred) Lawson of Jacksonville, Linda Swartz of Winchester, and Sandy (Husband Don) Hankins of Winchester. 7 brothers Russell Brockhouse, Dick Brockhouse, Larry Brockhouse, Mike Brockhouse and Donny Brockhouse all of Winchester, Billy Brockhouse of Alton and Jerry Brockhouse of Jacksonville, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday (September 18, 2001) at St. John‘s Lutheran Church in Bluffs. Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Monday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.

Mrs. Mary M. Brogdon (Hennessey)
Mary M. Brogdon, 94, of rural Jacksonville and more recently of the Jacksonville Convalescent Center, died Sunday evening, August 12, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born on December 25, 1906 in Green view the daughter of Patrick and Katie Taylor Hennessey. She married Irvin Brogdon in November of 1924 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on December 7, 1973.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Louise Piper of Brighton and Catherine (husband, Ted) Grady of Bluffs; two sons, Loyd (wife, Mildred) Brogdon of Jacksonville and John (wife, Margaret) Brogdon of Valdosta, Georgia; 21 grandchildren, and many great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Carl Brogdon; two grandchildren, three sisters, and four brothers.
Mrs. Brogdon was a homemaker and kept busy caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed needlework in her spare time.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at East Cemetery in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends from noon until 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Food Pantry.

Helen Louise Brown
Helen Louise Brown, 85, of Waverly passed away early Wednesday morning at Lynncrest Manor in Auburn.
She was born December 23, 1915 near at the family home north of Waverly the daughter of the late F. Roy and Gleana Byrkit Brown.
She was a graduate of Waverly High School and of Browns Business College.
She was retired from the Illinois Department of Public Aid in Jacksonville where she worked for many years.
She was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Daughters of the American Revolution, Home Extension and the Alpha-Iota Sorority.
Survivors include a sister Alice (husband Raymond) Patterson of Baldwin, and 2 brothers Warren (wife Helen) Brown of Waverly and David (wife Harriet) Brown of Indianhead Park, IL, 4 nieces and 5 nephews.
Preceding her in death was a sister Lois Adkinson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday at the Waverly United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in the Waverly East Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Friday at the Neece Funeral Home in Waverly where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Iola Savoy Brown (Ryan)
Iola Savoy Ryan Brown, 87, of Winchester died early Thursday morning (January 4, 2001) at the Scott County Nursing Center.
She was born April 5, 1913 in Winchester the daughter of the late Edward F. and Pearl S. McEvers Ryan.
She married Robert D. Brown July 22, 1932 in Carrollton. He preceded her in death February 18, 1985. Also preceding her was a sister Mary Frances Piggott.
Mrs. Brown was a 1932 graduate of Winchester High School. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Winchester. She was employed in the Secretary of States office for 30 years 8 months, retiring December 29, 1995. She had also been employed in the Illinois State Treasurers office for 4 years and Scott County Farm Service.
Survivors include her children Robert A. (wife Linda) Brown, A. Edward (wife Karol) Brown, Barbara Lucille (husband Ronald) Coultas, and her sister Minnie Ryan all of Winchester. 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday (January 6, 2001) at the 1st Christian Church in Winchester.
Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2:00 PM Friday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. The family will meet with friends from 2:00 until 4:00 and from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Alvin A. Bruns
Alvin A. Bruns, 93, of Jacksonville formerly of Green e Co. died at 11:25
A.M. on Sunday Feb. 4, 2001 at Prairie Village Healthcare Center in
Jacksonville.
Born in Green e Co. on Dec. 9, 1907 he was the son of the late Augustus
A. and Clara M. Davidson Bruns.
On Oct. 9, 1939 he married the former Ethel M. Schroeder in St. Charles,
Mo. and she preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 1982.
Surviving are a daughter: Mrs. Kevin “Mary” Holder of Chatham and 3
sons: Alvin (wife Sandy) Bruns Jr. of Jacksonville, Jimmie J. (wife Barbara)
Bruns of Chapin and Charles E. Bruns of White Hall. 10 grandchildren and
1 great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Florence Darr and Minnie
Massey.
He was a retired farmer of Green e Co., a member of the Sportsmans
Club of White Hall. He enjoyed fishing, working on clocks and spending
time with family. He will be missed for his smile and kind heart.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton where services will be held on Wednesday at 2
P.M. with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Carrollton. Memorials
may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Mrs. Kimberly Ann Bryson (Spaenhower)
Kimberly Ann Spaenhower Bryson, 30, of Jacksonville died Saturday morning, November 1o, 2001 at her residence. She was born on September 26, 1971 the daughter of Nelson E. and Louella Fuelling Spaenhower. She married Emile Allen Bryson, Jr. on September 25, 1993 at Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville and he survives.
Mrs. Bryson is also survived by her mother of Jacksonville; two brothers, Jodi (wife, Tammy) Spaenhower of Champaign and Michael Northrop of Jacksonville; maternal grandfather Louis Fuelling of Jacksonville, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father in January of this year, maternal grandmother Bernice Fuelling, and paternal grandparents Charles and Dorothy Spaenhower.
Mrs. Bryson graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1990. Since then she has worked at The Children’s Village, Hardees, Jacksonville Journal-Courier, Presbyterian Day Care, and Barton W. Stone Christian Home. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. She has volunteered her time to Cystic Fibrosis Fundraisers, enjoyed attending Cystic Fibrosis Camps, and was an avid reader of the Cystic Fibrosis Commitment Newsletter. She enjoyed reading and writing, and had pen pals throughout America and in foreign countries, many of whom she had met through the Cystic Fibrosis Newsletter.
Mrs. Bryson enjoyed watching soap operas, especially “Passions” and “Days of Our Lives.” She was an active member of the Passions Fan Club and enjoyed corresponding with several of the show’s stars. In June of this year, she was invited to attend the Passions Fan Club Banquet in Studio City, California.
Mrs. Bryson had a great love for her family, her pet cats, and enjoyed taking long drives to view wildflowers.

Mr. Louis Burmeister
Louis Burmeister, 95, of Quincy and formerly of Jacksonville died early Monday morning, November 5, 2001 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. He was born on January 7, 1906 in Jacksonville the son of Herman and Annie German Burmeister
Mr. Burmeister was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Burmeister, and one sister, Lena C. Burmeister.
Mr. Burmeister farmed his entire life in the Buckhorn community south of Jacksonville. He loved hunting and fishing. He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.
Mr. Joseph Paul Buster
Joseph Paul Buster, 70, of Jacksonville died Friday morning, May 11, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born August 16, 1930 in Murrayville the son of Joseph Louis and Frona Erma Frogge Buster. He married Loretta Dabbs, formerly of Jerseyville, on July 12, 1959 in Jerseyville and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Dennis Ray Buster of Seton; three daughters, Pamela Mae (husband, Larry) Teel of St. Charles, Mo, Jane Marie Hart and Joann Elaine (husband, Nathan) Hart, both of Jacksonville; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Helen Marie Helms of Pekin. He was preceded by one son, Joseph Paul Buster, Jr. and three brothers, James Oford Buster, Ray Buster and Lee Buster.
Mr. Buster was a cook for 37 years at the Jacksonville Developmental Center, retiring in 1991. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Post 279 in Jacksonville. A devoted husband and father, Mr. Buster enjoyed gardening and cooking, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Murrayville Cemetery in Murrayville. Don "Poochie" Byus
Don “Poochie” Byus, 60, of Jacksonville died Saturday afternoon, June 2, 2001 at the residence of his sister in Lynnville. He was born on February 8, 1941 in Jacksonville the son of Paul and Ida M. Jameson Byus. He married Gail Jones in 1963 and she survives in New Carlisle, Indiana.
Mr. Byus is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (husband, Richard) McBride of New Carlisle, Indiana, and Ann (husband, Hans) Pearson of Indianapolis, Indiana; one son, Don Byus of Scottsdale, Arizona; two granddaughters, one sister, Sandra (husband, Fred) Moore of Lynnville; and three brothers, Paul Byus and Garry (wife, Christy) Byus, both of Jacksonville, and Bill (wife, Edith) Byus of Lenox, Missouri. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sharlot Byus Muntman; and one brother, James Byus.
Mr. Byus had worked as a self-employed concrete finisher for many years. He later worked for Moeller and Sons, and most recently had been employed with Steve Morthole Masonry. In the early 1990’s, “Poochie” developed a passion for golf, and even moved from Lynnville to Jacksonville in order to live closer to golf courses.
Friends may call after 12 Noon on Monday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded on Tuesday. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Williamson Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville.
