Ms. Stella Margaret Doolin
Stella Margaret Doolin, 98, of Jacksonville died Tuesday morning, July 31, 2001 at Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. She was born on April 6, 1903 in Woodson the daughter of Michael and Annie O’Connell Doolin.
She is survived by one nephew, John Garde of Park Ridge; and several great-nieces and great-nephews including Michael (wife, Christine) Garde and Jim Garde of Jacksonville; Pat (wife, Tracy) Garde of Murrayville, and Bridget (husband, Michael) White of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Doolin; three sisters, Anna Campbell, Elizabeth Mackey, and Florence Garde; and nieces and nephews including Margaret Ann McQueen, Harold Garde, and Joseph Garde (surviving wife Virginia of Woodson.)
Ms. Doolin was a graduate of Oakland Grammar School, Routt High School, and attended MacMurray College. She taught school for 40 years at local schools including Oakland Grammar School, Prairie College near Arnold, Durbin School, Sulphur Springs School, Alexander Grade School, and Ashland School. Following her retirement, Ms. Doolin worked part-time at Heinl’s Green house.
Ms. Doolin was a member of the Church of Our Saviour, Teachers Retirement Association, and enjoyed cooking, crocheting, fishing, and gardening.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2001 at the Church of Our Saviour with burial at St. Bartholomew Cemetery near Murrayville. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends following a 5:45 p.m. prayer service, until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Routt High School or Our Saviour School.

Mrs. Alta Maurine Doolin (Coulson)
Alta Maurine Doolin, 85, of Jacksonville died Wednesday evening, May 23, 2001 at Barton W. Stone Christian Home in Jacksonville. She was born on July 16, 1915 in Chapin, Illinois the daughter of Irvin Roy and Gertrude Hutches Coulson. She married Thomas Brennan on August 25, 1954 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1965. She then married Francis E. Doolin on April 16, 1983 at the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1989.
She is survived by four cousins, Bernita Dodson and Maurice Funk, both of Jacksonville, Marian Fruster of Clearwater, Florida and Vancil Garner of Okeechobee, Florida; three step-sons, Raymond (wife, Grace) Doolin, Kenneth (wife, Katherine) Doolin, and Donald (wife, JoEllen) Doolin, all of Jacksonville; two step-daughters, Patricia (husband, Leo) Baldwin of Jacksonville and Rita (husband, Roger) Witte of Arenzville; 15 step-grandchildren, and 22 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one step-granddaughter, Ashley Doolin; and an aunt, Ruth Hutches, for whom she provided care for many years.
Mrs. Doolin had worked at Jenkinsons, Nesco, and later Cannell Associates prior to her retirement. She was a longtime member of Central Christian Church in Jacksonville where she was an active member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She volunteered her time to deliver Doorbell Dinners. The last several years she enjoyed traveling.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2001 at the Central Christian Church in Jacksonville with burial at Chapin Cemetery, near Chapin. Friends may call after noon on Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to Barton W. Stone Christian Home or Central Christian Church.

Leona R. Duewer (Rouland)
Leona R. Duewer, 89, of Jacksonville died Saturday afternoon April 21, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born September 12, 1911 in Waverly the daughter of Walter and Sarah Elizabeth Miner Rouland. She married Percy C. Fernandes in 1933 and he preceded her in death in 1960. She then married William Duewer in 1977 and he preceded her in death in 1998.
She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth (husband, David) Mitchell of Long Lane, Missouri, two grandchildren, one great-grandson, two sisters, Vera Rhea of Waverly and Leta Knox of Springfield and one brother Vernon “Harold” Rouland of Springfield. She was preceded in death by one brother, Elvis Rouland and one sister, Alta Reed.
Mrs. Duewer was a cook at Salem Lutheran School and later worked as a certified nurses assistant at Barton W. Stone Christian Home. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Waverly and had attended Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. She was also a member of the Waverly Historical Society.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 23, 2001at Christ Lutheran Church in Waverly. Memorials are suggested to the Barton W. Stone Christian Home or the family. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Ethel Virginia Dunham (Hillman)
Ethel Virginia Dunham, age 77, of Pittsfield, Ill. and formerly of New Salem, Ill. went to meet her Lord early Monday morning (October 8, 2001) at her residence.
She was born August 15, 1924 near Rockport, Ill. daughter of the late Edward and Maude Faye Walton Hillman.
She married Paul Dunham on December 31, 1924 in Pittsfield, Ill. and he survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Linda Kimmel and husband Sonny of Victorville, Calf.; three sons, Gary Dunham and wife Cheryl of Macomb, Ill., Daniel Dunham and wife Lynda Marie of Columbia, Mo., and David Dunham of New Salem, Ill.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Evelyn Rupert and husband C.D. of Pittsfield, Ill. and June Brokaw and husband Gawain of Pleasant Hill, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a member of and active in service of New Hartford Christian Church, Griggsville Church of Christ, and the Pittsfield Church of Christ.
Virginia’s life was much more than being a housewife. She centered her life around family, church, children, and crafts. She was widely known for her extensive doll collection, many of which she made or restored. She taught numerous children’s classes at her church and always helped with all sorts of craftwork. She loved children and worked with them anyway she could. One of her passions was spearheading the making of dolls for the pediatric unit at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill.. She also helped the community by helping with Meals on Wheels and visits to nursing homes.
Her life can be summed up in the words of this poem: “Live, so that when you are sinking on your last long sleep, Smiles shall be yours while those around you weep”.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday (October 11, 2001) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. with Bro. Jimmy Hodges and Alan Brokaw officiating.
Burial will be in Pittsfield West Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m.. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice of Pike County, Pittsfield Church of Christ, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Mr. Carrel M. Dunlap
Carrel M. Dunlap, age 93, of Jerseyville, formerly of White Hall, died
Tuesday evening, Oct. 16, 2001 at Jerseyville Manor in Jerseyville.
He was born July 11, 1908 in Lewisville, Missouri, the son of
William and Alma Lenington Dunlap.
He married Leona A. Willmington on May 25, 1928 in Carrollton and
she preceded him in death on April 7, 1999.
He is survived by two daughters, Merl Adelle Albert of Brighton and
Carol Jean Zeller of Westcliff, Colorado; one son, Ronald Dale Dunlap of
Lockport; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by three brothers, Leo, Virgil and Garnett Dunlap.
Mr. Dunlap worked at the Western Cartridge Co. in Alton then
worked for 20 years at White Hall Sewer Pipe and Stoneware. He was the
caretaker of the White Hall Cemetery for 13 years. He was a member of the
former Oak Grove Baptist Church west of White Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2001 at
the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at the White
Hall Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of
services Friday.

Russell Powell Dunn
Russell Powell Dunn, 90, of Winchester passed away Wednesday morning (May 30, 2001) at Passavant Area Hospital.
He was born July 16, 1910 in Carlinville the son of the late Shadrick and Mary Elizabeth Ellen (Bessie) Hawk Dunn.
He married Anna May Knetzer August 1, 1942 in Carlinville. She survives at home.
Also surviving are his children, Joan Beard (Roger Baker) of Quincy, Marcia ( Frank) Rice of White Hall, Sharon (Roland) Wallis of Winchester, Mark (Judy) Dunn of Quincy and Rita Dunn of Pittsfield. 11 grandchildren Katie Strieker, Tim Beard, Krista Taylor, Mary Beth Hawkins, James Ingram, Jennifer Lindsey, Jason Ingram, Justin Ingram, Amber Dunn, Brent Dunn and Kara Dunn, and 4 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were 3 brothers Ernest Lee Dunn , Henry Ebert Dunn and George Franklin Dunn.
Mr. Dunn was a Serviceman for GTE for 32 years retiring in 1975. He attended Carlinville Schools. He served in the US Army Air Corps during the second world war, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Marks Church in Winchester.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Saturday (June 2, 2001) at St. Mary and Joseph Church in Carlinville.
Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville.
Friends may call after 3:00 PM Friday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM with a prayer service conducted at 5:30 PM.
Friends may also call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Winchester EMS.

Mr. Wayne Arthur Edwards
Wayne Arthur Edwards, 87, of Waverly, Illinois, died Friday, October 12, 2001 in Carlinville Area Hospital, Carlinville, Illinois. He was born May 30, 1914, in Waverly, Illinois, a son of Dr. Forrest and Ella Hunt Edwards. He married Lucille Workman on May 9, 1942, in St. Charles, Missouri, and she preceded him in death on February 9, 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Twila Douglass, and one brother, Wilbur Edwards.
Surviving are one son: Wayne Arthur Jr. (wife Janice) Edwards of Chatham, Illinois, two grandsons: Wayne Robert Edwards and Jay Russell Edwards, both of Chatham, IL. and one sister: Wanda Edwards of Springfield, IL.
He owned and operated Wayne Edwards Motor Company in Waverly, IL. and farmed near Waverly. He was a veteran of WW II, a 50 year member of Waverly Masonic Lodge # 118, Waverly American Legion Post # 262, Waverly Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, and Waverly United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, October 15, 2001, in Neece Funeral Home in Waverly, Illinois, with Rev. Guy Keysear officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, October 14, 2001, from 5 to 7 pm. Masonic Funeral Rites will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Waverly Rescue Squad or Lucille Edwards Library at Waverly Community School.

Mr. Dean Edwin Edwards, Sr.
Dean Edwin Edwards, Sr., 68, of rural Bluffs died Monday afternoon, November 26, 2001 at his residence. He was born December 5, 1932 in Jacksonville the son of Paul Augusta and Nettie Wilkerson Edwards. He married Elizabeth Turner on April 16,1976 in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by five sons; Steve (wife, Pamela) Edwards of Azusa, CA, Michael (wife, Kathy) Edwards of Okmulgee, OK, Robert Edwards of Azusa, CA, Thomas Edwards of Boscawen, NH and Dean Edwards, Jr. of Mounds, OK; one daughter, Kimberly (husband, Forrest) Norrid of Bixby, OK; two step-sons, Glenn (wife, Star) Weger of Jacksonville and Jesse Weger of Alabama; one step-daughter, Pamela (husband, Jeff) Ford of Naples; 8 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Edwards of San Antonio, TX and one sister, Betty (husband, Harry) Martin of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard and one grandson.
Mr. Edwards had been employed as a dock foreman by P.I.E. and Rouland Trucking of Jacksonville; and had worked with Don Courier Farms. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2001 at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Mrs. Mildred Marie Ehrheart (Dawdy)
Mildred Marie Ehrheart, age 54, of Jacksonville, formerly of
Roodhouse and Hillview, died Tuesday evening, Nov. 6, 2001 at Passavant
Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born July 22, 1947 in Carrollton, the daughter of William
Monroe and Bessie Pearl Williams Dawdy.
She is survived by one daughter, Lori (husband, Billy) Sowders of
Paxton, Indiana; four grandchildren, Samantha, Amanda, Douglas and
Jesse; two brothers, William E. Dawdy, Sr. of White Hall and John Dawdy
of Jacksonville; and her great aunt, Frances Cummings of Dow. She was
preceded in death by one brother, George Samuel Dawdy.
Mrs. Ehrheart worked for the Jacksonville State Hospital for several
years and at the dress factory in White Hall. She graduated from North
Green e High School in 1965. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witnesses in Jacksonville.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2001 at
the Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. The family will meet friends from
1:00 p.m. until time to depart to the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall.

Mr. George J. Eilering
George J. Eilering, 71, of Jacksonville and formerly of Springfield died early Monday morning, June 25, 2001 at Jacksonville Convalescent Center in Jacksonville. He was born on January 19, 1930 in Damiansville the son of George and Anna Haar Eilering.
He is survived by three daughters Linda Eyrse and Julie (husband, Jay) Kuhlman of Jacksonville and Sandy (husband, Jon) Jacoby of Concord; 5 grandchildren; two brothers, Norbert Eilering and Clarence Eilering, both of Jacksonville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin H. Eilering (surviving wife Katherine of Jacksonville), and three sisters, Edna Kaufman, Marie Eilering, and Lillian Fox (surviving husband Sam Fox of Jacksonville).
Mr. Eilering graduated from Routt High School in Jacksonville and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Jacksonville. Mr. Eilering had been a member of the Church of Our Saviour and enjoyed golf.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2001 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, where military rites will be conducted by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Prayer Services will be held at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

Mrs. Margueriette Grace Elliott (Perry)
Margueriette Grace Elliott, 87, of Jacksonville and formerly of Macomb died Friday morning, January 12, 2001 at her residence. She was born on December 11, 1913 in Alexander the daughter of Harry Edward and Sarah Ellen Pedigo Perry. She married Loran Elliott on May 16, 1940 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death in April of 1962.
She is survived by one son, Larry (wife, Carol) Elliott of Osage Beach, Missouri; three grandchildren, Andrea, Elana, and Nick; and one sister, Florence Murgatroyd of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Olga Perry, Daisy Murgatroyd, Martha Moss, Nellie Liming, and Lina German; and five brothers, Harry Perry, Moses Perry, Albert Perry, George Russell Perry, and John Frederick Perry.
Mrs. Elliott had owned and operated Elliott’s Shoe Store in Macomb before moving to Jacksonville. In Jacksonville, she worked at Jack’s Discount and later in Central Supply at Passavant Hospital, retiring in 1975. Mrs. Elliott was a fifty-year member of Order of Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home. Graveside rites will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb. Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Visiting Nurses of Central Illinois, Jacksonville Branch.

George Franklin Elliott
George F. Elliott, 91, of White Hall died at 2:55 P.M. on Thursday Jan. 4,
2001 at the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall.
Born on April 21, 1909 near White Hall he was the son of the late George
C. and Adna Pearl Emmons Elliott.
On April 20, 1929 he married the former Olive Short and she preceded
him in death on Nov. 16, 1986.
Surviving are a sister: Martha Strowmatt of Roodhouse and several
nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Luczetta Maddec and Margaret
Elliott and 2 brothers: Norman and Howard Elliott.
Mr. Elliott was a farmer who raised registered hogs and cattle. He had
attended Bethel Baptist Church in Hettick and White Hall Tabernacle Church
in White Hall. He will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. on Monday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton. Services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday at the
funeral home with burial to follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery southwest of
Carrollton. Memorials may be made to Mt. Gilead Cemetery or the Jones
Cemetery near White Hall.

Mary Ann Evans (Havens)
Mary Ann Evans, 55, of Winchester passed away Tuesday (August 14, 2001) at her home of natural causes.
She was born April 27, 1946 in Alton the daughter of the late James Leonard and Cleo Lawson Havens.
She married Gordon M. Evans January 24, 1965 at her parents’ home near Winchester.
Mrs. Evans was a 1964 graduate of Winchester High School. She was a homemaker and operated a Day Care in her home for many years. She drove the school bus and also worked as a teachers aide. Mrs. Evans helped with the local 4H. Most of all she loved caring for children. She was a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Gordon Evans at home. Their children Judy (husband Ted) Grady of Winchester, Jeffery (wife Michelle) Evans of Savannah, Georgia, Bonnie (husband John) Scoggins of El Paso, Texas, Beckie (husband Andy) Weder of Winchester, Barbara (husband Justin) McGee of Winchester, and 14 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother John Haven (surviving wife Marcy Havens of Lewistown.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday (August 18, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2:00 PM Friday at the funeral home were the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Scott County Nursing Center, The Winchester Fire Department Rescue Camera or to the Diabetes Association.
