Funeral arrangements for Ronald L. Bergmann, of Litchfield, are pending at Plummer Funeral Home. Mr. Bergmann, 63, died at 12:40 this morning in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Services for Ronald Lee Bergmann, of Litchfield, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Plummer Funeral Home with the Rev. Father David Schmidt, pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday in the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggests memorials be directed to Litchfield Baseball. Mr. Bergmann died at 12:40 a.m. Monday, April 26, 1999, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was 63 years old on July 1. He was an agent and traffic controller with the New York Central, Penn Central, Conrail and Gateway Eastern Railroads for 42 years before his retirement in 1997. He was a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout master of Pack 85 and Troop 84 in Litchfield for several years. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He graduated from Litchfield High School in 1953 and served with the Army during peacetime from 1958 to 1960. He was born in Raymond, a son of Oscar Edwin and Geraldine Barger Klimm Bergmann. He married Marilyn J. Smith on December 3, 1960, in St. Michael's Catholic Church at Bement. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Joe Bergmann and wife Marina, Rod Bergmann and wife Jamie, all of Litchfield; his mother, Geraldine Clayton of Litchfield; and four grandchildren, Jacob and Josh Bergmann and Jordan and Shelby Smith. His father preceded him in death. Services for Ronald Lee Bergmann, of Litchfield, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Plummer Funeral Home. The Rev. Father David Schmidt, pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church, officiated. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery. During the service Michelle Sweet, organist, accompanied Paul Hampton while he sang "His Eye is on the Sparrow" and "The Lord's Prayer." Pallbearers were Harold Mathis of Troy, Charles Schildt of Staunton, John Schwabe of Granite City, Ron Steward of Dorchester, Ron Stilabower of Livingston, Harold Young of Gillespie. During the committal service the flag was presented to Mrs. Marilyn Bergmann by Will Tackaberry, commander of American Legion Post 436. Following the services a meal was provided by family and friends at the American Legion Post. Mr. Bergmann, 63, died Monday, April 26, in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

Mr. Bergmann died at 9;10 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Litchfield. He was 87 years old on March 22. He retired as a driver for Home Oil in Raymond after working for the company for 22 years. Earlier, he spent many years as a laborer for Harry Kennedy He was a member of St. Raymond's Church, charter member of the Raymond Fire Department, charter member of the Raymond Gun Club, member of Knights of Columbus Council 1196, and past member of the Labor Local. He coached girls softball and was very active in the community Fourth of July celebration for many years. He enjoyed the lake and the outdoors. He was born in Raymond, a son of William and Lena Wagahoff Bergmann. He married Helen Swires on August 1, 1938, in St. Raymond's. She died September 1, 1995. Surviving are sons, Melvin Bergmann and wife Beverly of Litchfield, Robert Bergmann of Harvel; daughters, Dorothy Carroll and husband Frank of Litchfield, Margaret Jenkins and husband Bernard of Raymond; brother, Joe Bergmann of Raymond; sisters, Mary Tokely of Whiting, Ind., Pauline Putzka of Springfield, Mo. Funeral arrangements for Albert Ray Berkel are incomplete at Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Mr. Berkel, 72 of Butler, died Saturday, August 7, in Hillsboro Hospital. Services for Albert Ray Berkel, of Butler, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hough and Sons Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with Sam Elizondo officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, with full military rites conducted by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon Company. Friends may call in the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Mr. Berkel died at 3:55 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 1999, in Hillsboro Hospital. He was 72 years old on January 17, and a Navy veteran of World War II. He served in the South Pacific on the USS Reno during the war. He was a professional chef and was employed by the Elks Club in Springfield, South Side Country Club in Decatur and the Key Club in Detorit. He was a member of Kershaw Hammer VFW Post 1306 of Taylor Springs. He was born in Donathan, Mo., and adopted by Fred and Flora Berkel, and graduated from Equality High School in Equality, Ill. He married Wilma Wilheim in June 1965 in Springfield. Surviving are sons, Steven P. Dannenberger of Bethany and Erich W. Berkel of Butler; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mr. Bernardi died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 1999, in his home in Springfield. He was 75 years old on December 20, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was director of the Illinois Department of Labor at the time of his retirement and prior to that he had also been assistant director of the Illinois Department of Transportation and acting assistant director of the Illinois Department of Mental Health. He also worked at Allis-Chalmers. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and secretary of the Illinois Republican State Central Committee. He was born in Mt. Clare, a son of Pompeo and Anna Ladame Bernardi. He married Marion Crouser on July 7, 1951, in SS. Simon and Jude Church, Gillespie. She survives. Surviving also are a daughter, Barbara Bernardi of Springfield and three grandchildren.

Mr. Bernhardt died at 8 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 1999, in his home. He was 82 years old on November 16. He worked in the housekeeping department at Alton Memorial Hospital for 17 years before retiring in 1982. Before that he worked for Standard Oil in Wood River. He was a member of St. Peter's Church. He was born in Edwardsville, a son of Elias and Esther Niemeier Bernhardt. He married Esther L. Kuethe on June 8, 1940, in St. Peter's Church. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Gary Bernhardt and wife Janet of Prairietown, Dale Bernhardt and wife Carol of Troy, Ronnie and Armin Bernhardt, also of Prairietown; daughters, Virginia Singleton of Moro, Mary Ann Brandon and husband Jack of Springfield; 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a brother, Elwood.

Jennie Berra, sister of Ann Price of Hillsboro, died Thursday, February 11, 1999, in her home in Springfield. She was 75 years old on July 30. She was a receptionist for the Secretary of State office before she retired. She was born in Nokomis, a daughter of James and Theresa Fassino Jachino. She married John T. Berra in 1987. He died in 1995. Surviving are a son, Bob Bandor of Springfield; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Springfield. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Kirlin - Egan and Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bertetti died at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 1999, in St. Francis Hospital. She was 87 years old on January 13. She was a registered nurse before her retirement, having graduated from Michael Reese School of Nursing in Chicago. She was head nurse in obstetrics and substitute anesthesiologist at Chicago Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a graduate of Benld Township High School in the class of 1930. She was born in Benld, a daughter of Louis and Maria Simonotto Rigotti. She married John W. Bertetti on September 5, 1937, in Benld. He survives. Surviving also is a brother, George Rigotti of Sinton, Texas. Others surviving include nieces and a sister in law, Miriam Rigotti of Wilmette. Preceding her in death were a daughter, Jean Alice Bertetti and brothers, Romolo and John Rigotti.

She was 76 years old on September 8. She candy packer for Switzers Candy Company, St. Louis, for 35 years before retiring in 1980, and was a member of Teamsters Local 688 of St. Louis. She was born in Livingston, a daughter of William and Frances "Frannie" Krupp Bertoldi. Surviving are a sister, Barbara Smiley and husband Frank of Williamson; brother, William Bertoldi and wife Cookie of Gillespie; half brother, Leonard Paris and wife Margaret of Wood River. Others surviving include a nephew Mike Smiley of Boerne, Texas, and niece, Kay Lynn Caldieraro of Staunton. Preceding her in death was a half sister, Marie Paris in infancy.
Bertot, Pete
Pete Bertot, formerly of Litchfield, died Wednesday, September 30, 1998, in Concord, Calif. He was 88 years old on February 23. He resided in Litchfield for 20 years before moving to Martinez, Calif., where he lived for the past 42 years. He worked for Kaiser Gypsum in Antioch for 15 years and then in maintenance at the Lomagay Coal Company, retiring after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Concord, and the Moose Club and Senior Citizen Club in Martinez. He enjoyed bowling and fishing. He was born in Globe, Ariz. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Edna Bertot; sons, Peter Bertot Jr. of Athens, Ga., Dennis Bertot of Tow, Texas; daughter, Betty John of North Platte, Neb.; brothers, Jordon B. DeVito of San Leandro, John E. DeVito of Martinez; a sister, Rena Omnias of Auburn; 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Connolly and Taylor Chapel in Martinez. Burial will be in Memory Gardens at Concord.

She was born in Audubon Township, a daughter of Frank and Lucy Darst Schwartzle. She married Edwin H. Best on Novmeber 30, 1928, in South Fork Church in rural Nokomis. He died October 11, 1974. Surviving are sons, Charles Best and wife Lois of Pawnee, Eldon Best and wife Joyce of Tayldorville; daughters, Dorothy Eddington and husband Eugene of Irving, Wilma Spikes and husband Billy of Loami; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. Services for Rev. C. Estell Bettis, whose late wife, the former Geneva O. Angelo, was from Gillespie, died Friday, February 26, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. He was 91 years old on July 11. He resided in Kampsville where he established the Gospel Mission and also pastored the Mozier Christian church, Pleasant Dale Baptist Church and the Summit Grove Presbyterian Church of Kampsville before retiring. He was also the Kampsville village treasurer for many years, and a youth advisor for the Calhoun County 4-H. He was born in Palmyra, a son of Clarence A. and Stella Crawford Bettis. He married Geneva O. Angelo in 1928 in Gillespie. Surviving are two sons, Don Bettis of Decatur, Vernon Bettis of Ellettsville, Ind.; brothers, Wayne Bettis of Bettendorf, Iowa, Paul Bettis of Springfield; sisters, Irma Anderson of Modesto, Irene Smith of Virden; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a step great grandson.

He was 75 years old on September 12, and a military veteran. He served in the Army from December 7, 1942 to February 1946 and the Air Force from 1951 to 1953. He was a college professor. He was born in Benld, a son of Angelo and Orsola Enrico Bietto, and never married. Surviving are several cousins.

She was 90 years old on April 18. She was born in Fayette County, a daughter of Oliver J. and Martha Susana Pope Black. She married Alva W. Womack in 1928; he died in 1953. She later married Sylvester Bienvenue and he also preceded her in death. Surviving are a daughter, Norma Golitko of Nokomis; sons, John Womack of Ottawa, George Womack of Marble Hill, Mo., Jim Womack of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Norma Tucker of Shelbyville; brothers, Glenn Black of Herrick, Burl Black of Semou, Gale Balck of Sapulpa, Okla., Virgil Black of Herrick; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, Alva Womack Jr., three brothers, one sister and a grandchild.

Mr. Bilauski, of Carlinville, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. He was 87 years old on June 22. He was a construction laborer for many years and also worked for the Carlinville street department for 14 years before he retired in 1976. He was born in Scranton, Pa., a son of Michael and Mary Tegza Bilauski. He married Helen Moros in 1934 in Edwardsville; she died in 1993. Surviving are a daughter, Alice Morse and husband Richard of Carlinville; brother, George Tegza of Chicago; other sisters, Irene Edwards of Jerseyville, Margaret Bruton of Denver, Colo. A daughter, Mary Ann Simpson, preceded him in death.

Mr. Billo died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, June 6, 1999, in Hillsboro Health Care Center. He was 88 years old on February 16, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was an inspector for Hiram Walker and Sons in Peoria for 36 years before retiring April 30, 1973, and was a member of St. Cecilia and St. Mark's Catholic Churches in Peoria. He was born in Hillsboro, a son of Dominic and Amelia DalCanton Billo. He married Regina Theresa Scariot on December 11, 1948 in Peoria. She died January 17, 1993. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Billo of Peoria; a sister, Elda Shannon of Hillsboro. Preceding him in death were a brother, Michael Billo and sisters, Norma Good and Elda Billo in infancy.

Marlene M. Bingman, formerly of Witt, died Thursday, April 29, 1999, in her home at Big Rapids, Mich. She was 64 years old on February 13. She had lived in the Big Rapids area since 1973, and was an executive secretary for Lerner Financial Group. She was born in Witt, a daughter of Herman and Ida Hueschen Weber, and graduated from Nokomis High School. She married Thomas Bingham in 1960. He died in 1990. Surviving are a son, Bruce Bingman; daughter, Laura Swenson; sister, Delores Schweizer and husband Melvin of Witt; one grandchild, Vaille Swenson. Services were held in Big Rapids with burial in Highland View Cemetery.

Mr. Binney died at 9:09 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 1999, in Staunton Memorial Hospital. He was 74 years old on July 21. He was a rural letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in the Staunton post office for 33 1/2 years before he retired in 1987, and also a farmer. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church and the Macoupin County Farm Bureau. He was born in Binney's Station, Olive Township, Madison County, a son of Walter Edward and Mollie Ahrens Binney. He married Edna Lucille Robertson on October 20, 1946, in Staunton. She survives. Surviving also are daughters, Kathleen Miersch and husband Darryl of Staunton, Dixie Hill and husband Ed of Staunton, Carol Rimar and husband Joseph of Mt. Olive; ; sons, Donald Keith Binney and wife Jill of Mt. Olive, Mark Binney and wife Babs, Pat Binney and wife Tracy, all of Staunton; a sister, Della Jean Oglesby of Lufkin, Texas; brother, Walter Binney of Orcutt, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.
Binnquist, Evelyn
Evelyn Binnquist, formerly of the Hillsboro area, died Monday, December 28, 1998, in Ontario, California. She would have been 93 years old on January 3. She was born in Montgomery County, a daughter of Amos and Alice Scherer Mack, and was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. She married Arthur Binnquist on November 12, 1955. He died October 11, 1996. Surviving are brothers, Ross D. Mack of Kansas City, Mo., and Elmer Mack of St. Joseph, Mich. Services were conducted by Stone Funeral Home in Upland, Calif.

Graveside service for Emma M. Bioletto, formerly of the Hillsboro - Schram City area, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Oak Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Mrs. Bioletto, of Chicago, died Thursday, February 25, 1999, in Berwyn - McNeal Hospital there. She was 81 years old on August 18. A resident of Hillsboro and Schram City for most of her life, she and her husband owned and operated Bioletto's tavern in Schram City for many years. She was born in Mark, a daughter of Ralph and Della Puccetti Magelli. She married Allen "Boggio" Bioletto on April 17, 1934, in Edwardsville. He died April 9, 1972. They had no children. Surviving are a nephew, Robert Cameron of Roswell, Ga., and a sister in law, Flora Kaburick of Texakana, Texas. A sister, Pauline Cameron preceded her in death.

Elisabeth Birkigt, of Gillespie, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 1998, in Heritage Manor of Gillespie. She was 94 years old on December 17. She was born in Neuticher Hollaender, Germany, a daughter of Gustav and Emilie Schmidt Doering, and was married twice. She was first married to Ernst Herder. After his death she married Fred Birkigt. He also preceded her in death. Surviving is a daughter, Rose Marie Wilson of Gillespie and a grandson. Services were held this morning in Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie. Elder Maurice Bruce officiated. Burial was in Gillespie City Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

He was employed at the Brown Shoe Company as a machine operator for more than 30 years and was a custodian at the Litchfield Junior High School for 10 years. he was a member of Litchfield Moose Lodge 1634. He enjoyed rebuilding bicycles and clocks. He was a son of William Riley and Sarah Frances Drake Bishop. He married Emma Alberta "Bert" Booher on June 24, 1944, in Litchfield. She survives. Surviving also are daughters, Jane Bachstein and husband Ken of Colleyville, Texas, Marty Williams and husband Dave of Katy, Texas; a sister, Mary Wey of Litchfield; six grandchidlren, Jeff Bachstein, Julie Gary, Doug Bachstein, Bret, Brian and Emily Williams; and five great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were five brothers, Hersey, Bernard, Stanley, Eugene and Lawrence Bishop and two sisters, Verna Angle and Dorothy Bennett. Services for Sylvester Clyde "Red" Bishop, of Litchfield, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Plummer Funeral Home. The Rev. C. Brent Cloyd, pastor of the Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville and former pastor of First Baptist Church in Litchfield, officiated. Burial was in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Musical selection for the service was "The Old Rugged Cross." Pallbearers were Charles Bishop, David Bishop, Larry Bishop, Marvin Lowe, Harold Odle, Jim Odle, John Odle, all of Litchfield and Mark Leitschuh of Troy. Following the committal service a meal was provided for family and friends by the Women of the Moose. Mr. Bishop, 84, died Sunday, February 7, in St. Francis Hospital.

Services for Bradley A. Black, of Fillmore, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis, with the Rev. Ernest Flowers officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery at Fillmore. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Mr. Black died at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 1998, in St. Vincent's Hospital, Taylorville. He was 34 years old on February 12. He was a truck driver for Design Corrigating in Taylorville. He was born in Elgin, a son of Jay and Patsy Blietz Black. After spending four years in the Army, he married Tysha Myers on August 27, 1995. She survives. Surviving also are sons, Brandon, age 9, and Taylor, 3; his mother, Patsy Black of Fillmore; brothers, Joseph Black of Fillmore and Kirby Black of Carlinville. Blackburn, Wildon W.
Services for Wildon W. Blackburn, formerly of Hillsboro, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Patton Memorial Home there with the Rev. James Thomson officiating. Burial will be in Cress Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday in the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Mr. Blackburn died Monday, December 13, 1999, in Ridgecrest Regional Hospital, Ridgecrest, Calif. He was 87 years old on September 14. He spent most of his life in the Hillsboro area and moved to Ridgecrest in 1993. He was a farmer, and he owned Blackburn's Gift Gallery in Hillsboro. He was an active member of Montgomery Methodist Church, having served as superintedent and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 455 at Irving for 51 years, 32nd degree member and past master. He was also a member of the Ansar Shrine. He was active in the Rock and Gem Club and at age 65, he took up golf. He was born in Coffeen, a son of Harry and Della May Blackburn. His wife the former Virginia Taulbee, survives. Surviving also are a son, Wildon C. Blackburn and wife Ann of Ridgecrest; daughter, Cheryl E. Jones and husband Howard of Springfield; four grandchildren, Stephen C. Jones of Jacksonville, Fla., Pam Sivearingen of Kent, Ohio, Nikki Blackburn of Oakland, Calif., Andrea Capler of Atlanta, Ga.; and two great grandchildren, Marsall and Sierra Sivearingen.
Blackburn, William
William Blackburn, formerly of Hillsboro, died Friday, Oct. 1, in St. Louis after an extended illness. A son of Harry and Bertha Blackburn, he graduated in 1939 from Hillsboro High School and later obtained a bachelor's degree from Washington University, St. Louis. His father, Harry Blackburn, was a former sheriff of Montgomery County. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; daughters, Carol and Tammy; sister, Dorothy Bunton.
