Mrs. Judith Eileen Fox (Calvin)
Judith Eileen “Meeka” Fox, 57 of Jacksonville died Thursday evening, December 20, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born on December 14,1944 in Quincy. She was adopted by Charles I. and Nettie E. Jobe Calvin in 1946 from the Chaddock School in Quincy. She married John Robert Fox in 1967 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death in February, 1998.
She is survived by two sons; Robert (fiancé, Tiffany Courier) Fox of Jacksonville and David (wife, Melissa) Fox of Cottage Hills, and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Fox had been a housekeeper, first at Westfair Baptist Church for 7 years and later at Passavant Hospital for 14 years. She was a very active member of Faith Tabernacle in Jacksonville and had a great love for cats, especially her two cats Rosebud and Holly B.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2001 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Chaddock School in Quincy.
Mrs. Ruth E. Fulkerson (Shafer)
Ruth E. Fulkerson, age 94, of White Hall, died Sunday morning, Sept.
16, 2001 at the Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.
She was born Jan. 11, 1907 in Otterville, the daughter of Nicholas
and Ida Shafer.
She married William O. Fulkerson and he preceded her in death on
Nov. 14, 1972.
She is survived by one son, Jon (wife, Judy) Fulkerson of White Hall;
four grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by two sisters, Ollie Gaines and Marjorie Cory and three brothers, Ross, Bill
and Stuart Shafer.
Mrs. Fulkerson worked at Olin Corp. in Alton for 35 years, retiring in
1970. She was of the Baptist faith.
Memorial services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001
at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. The family will meet
friends from 7:00 p.m. until time of services.
Mr. Kaye H. Galloway
Kaye H. Galloway, age 81, of Naples, Florida and formerly of Webster Groves, Mo. died January 3, 2001 at his residence in Naples, Florida
He was born May 20, 1919 in Pleasant Hill Township Pike County, Ill. son of the late Verdie James and Floy Francis Galloway.
He married Virginia Lee Dell in 1942 in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Bruce Galloway and wife Terry of Maryland and Steve Galloway of Naples Florida; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Burdean Galloway of Modesto, California; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Galloway was a 1937 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School in Pleasant Hill, Ill. and a 1941 graduate of the University of Illinois.
He was a veteran of W.W. II serving in the US Army in Europe.
Mr. Galloway worked as a manufacturing representative in the chemical manufacturing industry.
A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Thursday (June 14, 2001) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. with Rev. James Caughlin officiating.

Kilby Carroll Giberson
Kilby Carroll Giberson, 61, of Carrollton was pronounced dead at 11:15 P.M.
on Friday Sept. 7, 2001 in rural Carrollton.
Born in Jerseyville on June 14, 1940 he was the son of the Carroll
Giberson of Carrollton and the late Pauline Steinacher Griswold.
He married the former Kay Koster in Carrollton on Feb. 20, 1960 and she
survives. Also surviving are: 3 daughters: Mrs. Jim “Karen” Schnelt , Mrs.
John “Judy” Tepen and Diana Steinacher all of Carrollton, 9 grandchildren:
Pat, Craig, Kilby and Luke Tepen, Jayme, Melissa and Eric Schnelt, and Matt
and Cody Steinacher, 1 sister: Peggy Junge of Jerseyville. He was preceded
in death by his mother.
Mr. Giberson was a farmer who had worked for 17 years at the
Carrollton Gazette Patriot. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran
Church, the Westwood Trail Riders, and was a past member of the Carrollton
Jaycees. He was very active in community affairs. He will be sadly missed
by family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Sunday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton where services will be held on Monday at 10
A.M. with burial to follow in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery southwest of
Carrollton. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Helen M. Gilbert (McCarty)
Helen M. Gilbert, 73, of Jerseyville died at 3:50 A.M. on Monday April 9,
2001 at the Green wood Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville.
Born in Van Buren, Mo. on Jan. 11, 1928 she was the daughter of the late
Arthur and Myrtle Chronister McCarty.
On May 24, 1946 she married George Gilbert Sr. in Carrollton and he
preceded her in death on March 5, 1981.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Mrs. Danny “Carolyn” Rawe of Jacksonville,
Mrs. Larry “Mary” Moran of Carrollton and Mrs. Mike “Rosa”
Gilbert-Telega of Jerseyville; 2 sons: George (wife-Connie)Gilbert Jr. of
Indiana and Larry (wife-Judy) Follis of White Hall. 17 grandchildren and 8
great grandchildren, a sister Lillian Fisher of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and a brother
Tholman McCarty of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Sheryl Edwards, 2 sister and
10 brothers.
Graveside rites will be held on Thursday at 1 P.M. at Camp Butler
National Cemetery in Springfield. Memorials are mentioned to the family.

Mrs. Margaret H. Giller (Honey)
Margaret H. Giller, 92, of Palmyra died Saturday afternoon, May 5, 2001 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield. She was born August 4, 1908 in Newton the daughter of John W. and Margaret E. Reisner Honey, Jr.. She married Rollin C. Giller on August 26, 1934 in Palmyra and he survives.
She is also survived by one son, Curtiss (wife, Jackie) Giller of Naples, Florida; three daughters, Linda (husband, Morris) Hicks of Tucson, Arizona, Lou Ann Querrey of Darien, Illinois and Jean Johnson of Carpentersville, Illinois; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John P. Honey and Maynard H. Honey.
Mrs. Giller was a school teacher for many years, having taught in Newton, Illinois and the Northwestern School District in Palmyra from which she retired. She was a member of the Palmyra Christian Church, Eastern Star and Home Extension.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at the Palmyra Christian Church with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra. The family will meet friends from 5-8 on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Northwestern Rescue Squad. Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Leona H. Gillett (Roach)
Leona H.Gillett, 74, of Franklin died Tuesday morning, May 8, 2001 in Franklin. She was born on May 27, 1926 in Franklin, the daughter of Leonard and Helen DeLong Roach. She married Eugene Gillett on November 12, 1977 in Frankloin and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by one brother, John (wife, Shirley) Roach of Franklin, and three neices. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Roach and Betty Watkins.
Mrs. Gillett was retired from the Jacksoville Developmental Center. She was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2001 at the Franklin Baptist Church. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesady at the Neece Funeral Home in Franklin where the family will meet friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Franklin Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Franklin Baptist Church.
Mrs. Beata Gilmore (Armstrong)
Beata Armstrong Gilmore, 92, of Jacksonville died Friday, July 27, 2001 at Prairie Village Health Care Center in Jacksonville. She was born on October 28, 1908 in Jacksonville, the daughter of Byron and Leonora Parent Armstrong. She married Walter Gilmore on May 20, 1944 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on October 24, 1994.
She is survived by two sons: Jack (wife, Judy) Gilmore of Carmichael, California and Gregory Gilmore of Jacksonville; one daughter, Margo Gilmore of Jacksonville; 2 grandchildren and one step-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one sister, Marceline Fisk.
Mrs. Gilmore graduated from the University of Illinois in 1931 and was a member of Delta Zeta at the University. She taught elementary school with School District 117 for 26 years. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Our Saviour, a charter member of Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, where she held the position of Grand Regent. Mrs. Gilmore was an avid bridge player.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2001at the Church of Our Saviour with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 5:45 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Church of Our Saviour or Routt Catholic High School.
Mrs. Emily Jane Gilmore (Handler)
Emily Jane Gilmore, 83, of Jacksonville died at 2:10 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2001 at Barton W. Stone Christian Home. She was born on July 11, 1918 in Jerseyville, the daughter of Oscar and Emily Widman Handler. She married William Mortimer Gilmore on October 23, 1937 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and he preceded her in death on August 18, 1989.
She is survived by two daughters, Pat (husband, John) Wurster of Temple, Texas and Jan (husband, Michael) Keating of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; one son, William Mortimer, II (wife, Rosemary) of Roodhouse; nine grandchildren: Rev. Dr. John William Wurster, James Charles Wurster, Dr. Joseph Patrick Wurster DVM, Kathleen Colleen Keating. Kelly Eileen Keating, William Mortimer Gilmore III, Cascinda Christina Gilmore Fishbeck, Benjamin Mayfield Gilmore and Nicholas Handler Gilmore; five great grandchildren and three nieces. She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Handler Heitzig.
Mrs. Gilmore attended Jerseyville schools. She lived on the family farm with her
husband in northeast Green e County for over fifty years. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville and P.E.O., Chapter CY. She was also a member of Woodhaven Hospice and Passavant Hospital Auxiliary.
The love of Mrs Gilmore’s life was family and she appreciated and supported the Fine Arts. She will be remembered for her beautiful needlework and her cookie baking for family, friends and organizations.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2001 at First Presbyterian Church with burial in Richwoods Cemetery, east of Roodhouse. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Williamson Funeral Home with the family meetin friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville or Barton W. Stone Christian Home.
Richard L. "Nick" Goben
Richard L. “Nick” Goben, age 70 of Roodhouse, died Friday June 15,
2001 at his residence. He was born July 20, 1930 at Beardstown, the son of
Earl and Ethel Efau Goben. He married Ruth Goacher July 20, 1951 at
Pensacola, Florida and she survives.
Also surviving is one son, Mark (wife, Leslie) Goben of Jackson, Mo.,
and four daughters, Kathy (husband, Dean) Graham of Millsboro,
Delaware, Beth (husband Everett) Kennedy of White Hall, Cindy Miller
of Jacksonville, and Jill (husband Brian) Maberry of White Hall. There are
ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Three brothers, William
Goben and Donald Goben, both of White Hall and Joe Goben of
Jacksonville, and one sister, Shirley Hannaford of White Rock, New Mexico
also survive. He was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Crum.
Mr. Goben was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a
lifetime member of the White Hall VFW Post 7684. He was the
Administrator at the Illinois Department of Public Aid for Green e County
where he retired in 1991 after 30 years of service. He was an income tax
preparer for many years, and was a real estate broker, and owned and
operated Gobens Real Estate in Roodhouse.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June
19, 2001 at the Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. Visitation will be held
from 4 to 8 P.M. on Monday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White
Hall. Memorials are suggested to the White Hall VFW Tree of Joy.
