Mr. John Robert Henderson
John Robert Henderson, 93, formerly of Franklin, died Sunday morning, February 4, 2001 at Doctor’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born on January 25, 1908 in Indian Point the son of James and Kate Henderson. He married Mary Margaret Tribble on January 8, 1949 and she preceded him in death on July 20,1987.
He is survived by one brother, Ernest “Pete” Henderson of Waverly, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Willie, and two sisters, Viola and Clara.
Mr. Henderson was employed by Allis-Chalmer as a factory laborer, retiring in 1970 after 25 years of service. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945, stationed in India.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday February 6, 2001 at Neece Funeral Home in Waverly with burial at Franklin Cemetery. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Waverly Rescue Squad.

Mrs. Madelyn Henry (Boren)
Madelyn Henry, age 90, of Pittsfield, Ill. died early Sunday morning (January 28, 2001) at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill..
She was born June 15, 1910 in Montezuma Township, Pike County, Ill. daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Petty Boren.
She married Don Sanderson on June 22, 1929 in Jacksonville, Ill. and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1969.
She later married Virgil Henry on
Surviving are two sons, Jim Sanderson of Pittsfield, Ill. and John Sanderson and wife Kay of Pearl, Ill.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Bob (Mary Lou) Ridgeway of E. St. Louis, Ill. and Pat Labell of St. Peters, Mo.; five grandchildren, Mrs. Gary (Cheryl) Hayes and Kerri Sanderson both of Jacksonville, Ill., Mrs. Bill (Valerie) Wiewel of Coatsburg, Ill., Ed Sanderson of Woodstock, Ill., and Kris Sanderson of Monroe City, Mo.; two step-grandchildren, Kay Sediqi of E. St. Louis, Ill. and Mike Labell of St. Peters, Mo.; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Gerard of St. Peters, Mo., and Retta Ruth Donham of Clinton, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Maurine Boren of Pittsfield, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and one brother, Lyndle Boren.
Mrs. Henry was a member of the Milton Christian Church and a charter member of the Pike County Home Extension Pearl and Milton Units. She was also a member of the Pittsfield Womens Club, the Pike County Historical Society, and a past member of the Pearl Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling, antiques, music, and playing the piano.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (January 31, 2001) at the Milton Christian Church in Milton, Ill. with Rev. Jerry Edison officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery near Milton, Ill.. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. with family meeting friends from 6-8 p.m.. Memorials may be made to the Pike County Cancer Transportation Fund.

Mrs. Helen Eva Henson (Rader)
Helen Eva Henson, age 92, of Griggsville, Ill. died 3:55 p.m. Saturday (March 24, 2001) at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, Ill..
She was born April 26, 1908 in Griggsville Township, Pike County, Ill. daughter of the late John William and Sarah Ann Stauffer Rader.
She married Clarence A. Henson on October 27, 1929 in Pittsfield, Ill. and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1961.
Surviving are two daughters, Judith Rae Bradshaw and Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Goewey both of Griggsville, Ill..; nine grandchildren, Mrs. Bill (Tere) Boes, Mrs. Greg (Laura) Wainman, Rhonda Crawford, Larry Bradshaw and wife Carrie, and Mrs. Troy (Bunny) Kennedy all of Griggsville, Ill., Cathy Bradshaw of Jacksonville, Ill., Rick Goewey of New Baden, Ill., Eric Goewey and wife Patricia of Holloman AFB, New Mexico, and Curtis Goewey and wife Tori of Troy, Mo.; one foster granddaughter, Lori Holler of Quincy, Ill.; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant son; her sister, Pearl Hatcher; and two brothers, William and Donald Rader.
Mrs. Henson was a graduate of the Griggsville High School, a member of the “T and T” Bridge Club, and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star Rebecca Lodge, Pike County HCE, and Perry Bowling League. She was a member of the Griggsville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was a member of the Dorcus Circle. She taught one year at the North Flint country school, and drove a school bus from the mid 1940’s to 1963, worked in health care, and sold Avon. Helen enjoyed music, her piano, yard and flower gardens, oil painting, handwork and word puzzles. Her greatest joy was her family and all her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (March 28, 2001) at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Ill.. Burial will be in Griggsville Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where family will meet with friends from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Helen Henson Memorial Garden or to the Griggsville United Methodist Church c/o the funeral home.

Benjamin Hepworth
Ben Hepworth, 70, of Gifford, Illinois and formerly of Alsey died early Friday morning (March 23, 2001) at his home.
He was born April 10, 1930 in Alsey the son of Joshua and Clara Belle Ausmus Hepworth.
He married Norma J. (Skip) Vinyard of Roodhouse on November 10, 1951 in Alton. She survives at home.
Also surviving are his daughters Sheila Marie (husband Daryl) Carlson of Gifford and Gail Ann (husband John) Haire of O’Fallon, IL, 4 grandchildren Nicole (husband James) Potter, Derrick (wife Amber) Carlson both of Rantoul, Jay Haire and Lauren Haire of O’Fallon, IL 2 great grandchildren Lea Potter and Hannah Carlson. 2 sisters Helen Frost of Winchester and Della Sanders of Alsey.
Mr. Hepworth was the youngest of 8 children; he was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers John and Robert Hepworth, 3 sisters Irene Chance, Sarah Colvin and Louetta Moore.
He grew up on a small farm near Alsey. He joined the US Navy in 1948, serving 10 years. He then joined the US Air Force serving an additional 12 years. Retiring from duty as a Technical Sergeant in 1970. He then worked for Rogers Chevrolet in Rantoul for 22 years retiring in 1991.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Rantoul.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday (March 28, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester.
Burial will be in Bowers Cemetery near Alsey where military graveside rites will be conducted.
Friends may call after 4:00 PM Tuesday at he funeral home where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Carle Hospice in Champaign.

Mr. Harold W. Herrin
Harold W. Herrin, 70, of Jacksonville died Thursday morning, September 20, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born July 11, 1931 in Jacksonville the son of Clarence Alford and Alice Lorene Menezes Herrin.
He is survived by two sisters, Wanda C. Gimbel of Jacksonville and Vicky L. Bryant of Bradenton Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Edmond Herrin and Terry Lee Herrin and two sisters, Sandra Kay Herrin and Eunice J. Miley.
Mr. Herrin had worked at Illinois College. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Faith Tabernacle Church.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2001 at Jacksonville East Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Faith Tabernacle Church. Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Beman Earl Hettick
Beman Earl Hettick, 83, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Scottville, Illinois, died on Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in the Gardens in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on January 11, 1918 south of Scottville, Illinois, the son of Charles Otis and Mamie Estell Ogg Hettick. He married Helen L. Waters on November 19, 1950 and she preceded him in death in November of 1996.
Surving Mr. Hettick are two sons: Lowell (wife, Deanna) Hettick of Springfield, Missouri; Stephen (wife, Kate) Hettick of Spokane, Washington; one daughter, Rachel (husband, Ron) Hughes of Plymouth, Indiana; one sister, Alberta Seymour of Jacksonville; and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Hettick operated the Standard Oil Fertilizer Plant in Scottville from 1964 to 1981, was a retired farmer, a veteran of World War II, and a member of the Modesto Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2001 at the Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra, with the Reverend Ed Webb officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 – 7 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will be in Hettick Point Cemetery, Scottville. Mrs. Sarah Margaret Hettick (Powell)
Sarah Margaret Hettick, 77, of Palmyra, IL., died Friday, June 1, 2001, in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
She was born March 11, 1924 in Scottville Twp., Macoupin County, IL., a daughter of Ferol Ray and Opal Dugger Powell. She married Ralph W. Hettick on September 7, 1945 in Pontiac, IL. and he survives.
Also surviving are two sons: Bobby Joe (wife Candi) Hettick of Palmyra, IL.; Ferol Wiley (wife Carol) Hettick of Columbus Ga.; three grandsons; Kyle Hettick of Palmyra, IL., Daryl (wife Leslie) Hettick of Jacksonville, Florida; Gerald Hettick of Watertown, New York; and one sister Hallie Miller of Scottville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers: Wilfred Powell; Russell Powell; and Ferrol Powell.
She was a secretary for fifteen years for Passavant Hospital Nursing School, and thirteen years at Four Rivers in Jacksonville, IL. She was a 50 year member of Palmyra Chapter #453 O.E.S., Palmyra American Legion Auxillary Post # 1034, D.A.V. Chapter 15, Springfield, IL. Macoupin County Historical Society, and Scottville Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2001 in Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra, IL. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hettick Point Cemetery, Scottville, IL. Memorials are suggested to Northwestern Rescue Squad.

Mr. Wayne E. Hetzel
Wayne E. Hetzel, 70, of South Jacksonville died early Wednesday morning, March 7, 2001 at his residence. He was born on October 20, 1930 in Strahan, Iowa the son of Theodore and Osie Hummel Hetzel. He married Mary Patricia McLean on November 24, 1951 in Edwardsville, Illinois and she survives.
He is also survived by four daughters, Diane (husband, Robert) Boyd of Kansas City, Missouri, Elise (husband, Michael) Maberry of Jacksonville, Linda (friend, Kenneth Jacks) Branstetter of Kansas City, Missouri, and Teresa (husband, Donald) Holm of Litiz, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Hetzel of Tabor, Iowa, and Jesse Hetzel of Malvern, Iowa; and one sister, Lois Arp of Wake Village, Texas.
Mr. Hetzel was a field engineer for General Electric for nearly 35 years, retiring in 1991. He had lived in Europe for six years while employed with General Electric, serving as an advisor to the German and Belgium Air Forces. Mr. Hetzel had served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and had been an advisor to the United States Air Force at Okinawa. His special interests were woodworking, genealogy, and girls’ softball.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2001 at Tabor Cemetery in Tabor, Iowa. The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Home in Tabor. Memorials are suggested to the Wayne E. Hetzel Memorial Fund, which is being established to benefit the Tabor Historical Society and the Tabor Scholastic Foundation. The Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of local arrangements.

Noah Michael Hicks
Noah Michael Hicks, the 9 week old son of Richard Wayne and Bobbie Jo Barrow Hicks of Elsberry, Missouri and formerly of the Rushville area passed away Saturday morning (December 8, 2001) at his home in Elsberry.
He was born September 29, 2001 in St. Peters, Missouri. Also surviving is a brother Justin Hicks at home, paternal grandmother Karen Hiles of O’Fallon, paternal great grandmother Irene Lancaster of Tennessee, maternal grandparents Steve and Brenda Bottorff of Norfolk, Virginia and maternal great grandmother Grace Worrall of Winchester as well as many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday (December 12, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester. Burial wil be in the Winchester City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family.

Mrs. Myra Ellen Hills (Day)
Myra Ellen Hills, age 76, of White Hall, died Tuesday morning,
April 3, 2001 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She was born Oct. 29, 1924 in White Hall, the daughter of William
Henry and Mabel Sarah Chism Day.
She married Wayne Reitman Hills on Sept. 19, 1948 in Roodhouse
and he preceded her in death on May 11, 1981.
She is survived by one daughter, Reita (husband, George) Rogers of
Divernon; and three grandchildren, Crystal, Nicholas and Steven Rogers.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ellen Hills Loewy; one son,
Reitman Henry Hills; and one sister, Betty Hofmeister.
Mrs. Hills graduated from Roodhouse High School and attended
Wheaton College. She worked at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville
for six years before moving west of Roodhouse to her family farm where
she and her husband farmed until they retired in 1974. She was a member
of the White Hall First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001 at
the White Hall First Baptist Church with burial in the White Hall Cemetery.
The family will meet friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall. Memorials are suggested to
the White Hall First Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.

Ray Hipkins
Ray Hipkins, 84, of Carrollton died at 12:50 A.M. on Saturday July 28,
2001 at Reisch Memorial Nursing Home in Carrollton.
Born in Jacksonville on May 21, 1917 he was the son of the late Arthur
and Bessie Mason Hipkins.
On Nov. 26, 1948 he married the former Virginia Fraser in Quincy and
she preceded him in death on April 9, 1996.
Surviving are a daughter: Gayle Bottom of Carrollton and a son Steve
Hipkins of Jacksonville. 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 sisters:
Ada Hipkins of Chicago, Shirley McNabb of Victoria, Texas, Elsie Hipkins
of Jacksonville and 2 brothers: Arthur Hipkins Jr. of Jacksonville and Don
Hipkins of Jacksonville also survive.
He was preceded in death by a son Kim Hipkins, a step-son Terry
James and a sister Dorothy Range.
Mr. Hipkins was a Navy Veteran and owned and operated the
Carrollton Typewriter Exchange for 45 years retiring in 1979.
Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Sunday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday
at the funeral home with burial to follow in the White Hall Cemetery in
White Hall. Memorials are mentioned to the Eldred Baptist Church.

Mr James Oliver Hocking
James Oliver Hocking, 75, of New Berlin,Illinois, formerly Franklin, Illinois, died Sunday Morning, April 15, 2001, in Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born December 11, 1925, in Franklin, IL, a son of Oliver Leon and Mary Eleanor Mansfield Hocking. He married Maria Anna Shalla on December 18, 1948 in Jacksonville, IL, and she preceded him in death on July 21, 1988.
Surviving are two sons: Mark James (wife Kathy) Hocking of Washington, IL; Kevin Jay (wife Patricia) Hocking of Springfield, IL.; special friend Betty Hemberger of New Berlin, IL,; three brothers; Robert Lee Hocking of Belleville, IL., Wendell (wife Norma Fay) Hocking of Springfield, IL.; Dee (wife Linda) Hocking of Franklin, Il.; one sister; Norma Jean (husband Patrick "P.K.") Kelly of Newport, North Carolina, one grandson Mark Hocking; and two granddaughters; Amy Hocking and Megan Hocking. He was preceded in death by his parents: his wife; one brother; Milton Leon Hocking and one sister; Elizabeth "Sis" Richards.
He was a retired financial analyst for Illinois Department of Transportation, retiring after 24 years. He served in the Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WW II and was a lifetime member of Franklin American Legion, Post #1089, and Jacksonville VFW Post #1379, and a member of Franklin United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2001 in Franklin United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in Neece Funeral Home in Franklin, IL. Burial will be in Franklin City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Franklin United Methodist Church or Relay for Life Research.

Howard L. Holder Jr.
Howard L. Holder Jr., 65, of Jacksonville was pronounced dead at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday Jan. 30, 2001 at his residence unexpectedly.
Born in Carrollton on Nov. 17, 1935 he was the son of the lat Howard and Loretta Preston Holder.
He is survived by his dear friend and companion Lila Hazel of Jacksonville, 3 step sons Tim, Kelly and Brian Hazel all of Jacksonville, a brother Alfred Holder of Roodhouse and 2 sisters Susie Voyles of Quincy and Ruth Douglas of White Hall, 3 step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frances, a sister Catherine Voyles, and 2 brothers: Richard and Clifton Holder.
Mr. Holder was a self employed welder.
Friends may call after 1 P.M. on Thursday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with graveside rites at Carrollton City Cemetery in Carrollton at 2 P.M. Thursday.
