Geneva R. Kessie (Fraser)
Geneva R. Kessie, 89, of Carrollton died at 9:20 A.M. on Sunday Oct. 21,
2001 at Reisch Memorial Nursing Home in Carrollton.
Born in Wrights on Dec. 9, 1911 the daughter of the late Charles Ray and
Veda Snyder Fraser.
On Oct. 11, 1931 she married Howard Kessie in White Hall and he
preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1974.
Surviving are a daughter: Mrs. Chub “ Bonna Mae” Hillyer of
Jacksonville, 3 grandchildren: Mrs. David “Tyann” Hindelang of Alexandria,
Va., Mrs. Terry “Marla” Smith of Hillview and Jay (wife-Jill) Moss of
Carrollton, 7 great grand and 2 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister: Connie
Pinkerton of Jacksonville and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 1 grandchild: Michael Blane Moss, 2
sisters: Virginia Hipkins and Mildred DeWalt, 2 brothers: Jim Fraser and an
infant Richard Eugene Fraser.
Mrs. Kessie worked for the Green e Co. Farm Bureau and the Green e County
Cooperative Extension of the University of Ill. for 37 years. She was a
member of the Sewing Club, the Women of the Moose, the Jerseyville
Rebecca Lodge for 50 years and the Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years.
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at
10 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the White Hall Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Reisch Nursing Home Staff.

Mrs. Bessie Killebrew (Sweetin)
Mildred Killebrew, age 90, of White Hall, formerly of Hillview, died
Saturday evening, April 14, 2001 at the White Hall Multicare Center in
White Hall.
She was born March 17, 1911 in Hillview, the daughter of Harvey
and Rachel Beasley Bryant.
She married Harold Killebrew on Aug. 14, 1929 in Hillview and he
preceded her in death on July 12, 1992.
She is survived by one son, Ronald R. (wife, Mary Jane) Killebrew of
Patterson; two granddaughters, Janie Lemon of Modesto and Julia Brogdon
of Murrayville; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
two infant sons, 3 sisters, Velma Page, Mabel Lovelace and Floy Lovelace;
and two brothers, Lloyd Bryant and Elre “Buck” Bryant.
Mrs. Killebrew was a member of the Hillview Baptist Church and
was a homemaker.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2001
at the Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. Memorials are suggested to the
White Hall Multicare Center Activities Fund or the Hillview Baptist
Church. The Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall is in charge of
arrangements.

Mrs. Cora Frances King (Fanning)
Cora Frances King, 85, of Jacksonville died early Saturday morning, June 2, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born on October 5, 1915 in Murrayville the daughter of Warren Scott and Martha Newman Fanning. She married Elmer M. King on December 13, 1933 in Rushville and he preceded her in death on June 2, 1983.
Mrs. King is survived by one daughter, Debra Kay King of Jacksonville; three sons, Elmer E. (wife, Mary) King of Cheyenne, WY, James H. “Bud” (wife, Sally) King of Ft. Wayne, IN, and John A. “Jack” (wife, Mary) King of Englewood, CO; fifteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, and one brother, William (wife, Iola) Fanning of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clifton Fanning and James Fanning, surviving wife Lou of Denver, CO.
Mrs. King was a homemaker and had been a home health aide for the Visiting Nurses. She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed crafts.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Murrayville Cemetery in Murrayville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Central Illinois, Jacksonville Branch.

Mr. Keith E. King
Keith E. King, 73, of New Berlin died late Sunday morning, September 9, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was born December 16, 1927 in Brown County, Indiana the son of Carl William and Grace Lemley King. He married Virginia Scott on February 14, 1950 at the Douglas Avenue Methodist Church in Springfield and she survives.
Mr. King is also survived by one daughter, Valerie G. (husband, Douglas A.) Carr of New Berlin; two sons, Keith C. “Ike” (wife, Patricia A.) King and Vincent E. (wife, Donna L.) King both of New Berlin; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; one sister, Winona Joyce Miller of Springfield; and three brothers, Garth M. King of Pawnee, Wesley Rudolph (wife, Edith) King of Jacksonville and Gerald W. (wife, Pamela) King of Springfield.
Mr. King farmed in the New Berlin Area for many years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1945 to 1948. He was the Island Grove Township Auditor for 16 years, a director on the Farmer’s Grain Elevator Board at New Berlin for 21 years, and served on the Sangamon County Fair Association Board for 31 years. Mr. King was a member of the Island Grove United Methodist Church, West Sangamon County American Legion Post #743, and the New Berlin Men’s Community Club. He enjoyed golfing.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Woodwreath Cemetery near New Berlin. The family will meet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the New Berlin Emergency Squad, Sangamon County Fair Association, or to the Island Grove United Methodist Church.

Mr. Herbert F. Klages
Herbert F. Klages, 87, of South Jacksonville died Sunday morning, March 11, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital. He was born September 16, 1913 in Bussy, Iowa the son of Carl Henry and Loveda Van Doren Klages. He married Wanda Phillips Shatto on June 15, 1962 in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by two step-sons, Bruce (wife,Jan) Shatto of Cedar Hill, Missouri and Donald Wayne (wife,Maria) Shatto of Riverside, California, two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one niece.
Mr. Klages worked as a hand book binder at Hertzberg -New Method Book Bindery, retiring on April 15, 1983, after 50 years of employment. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Frank Evans during World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Tuesday with the family to meet friends from 6-8. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Barbara Kleidon (Menezes)
Barbara Menezes Kleidon, 67, of Jacksonville and formerly of Roodhouse, died Monday evening, December 10, 2001 at Skyview Terrace, Ltd. in Jacksonville. She was born on October 4, 1934 in Jacksonville the daughter of Harold and Bernice Winter Menezes. She married Earl Kleidon, Sr. in 1956 in Chicago and he preceded her in death in 1988.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Kleidon of Jacksonville and Bonnie (husband, Jim) Baumgartner of Carrollton; two sons, Earl (wife, Joan) Kleidon, Jr. of Ava and Michael (wife, Crystal) Kleidon of White Hall; seven grandchildren, three great- grandchildren; and one sister, Charlotte (husband, Oscar) Jessie of Salem, Missouri. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny Menezes and Melvin Menezes.
Before marriage and starting a family, Barbara had worked at The Camera Shop and Montgomery-Wards, both in Jacksonville. She enjoyed the arts, especially painting and sketching, prior to entering the A.R.C. of Jacksonville. As a resident of A.R.C of Jacksonville, Barbara enjoyed the development of many new friendships, as well as continuing her close bonds with her family. She was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, and though she was unable to attend church regularly, she always anticipated visits from her home teachers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2001 at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints in Jacksonville with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery near Patterson. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to A.R.C. of Jacksonville Activity Fund or The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints.

Mrs. Louise Knox (Akers)
Louise Knox, 78, of South Jacksonville died Thursday morning, October 4, 2001 at Scott County Nursing Center in Winchester. She was born April 4, 1923 in Pittsfield the daughter of Benjamin and Ruth Suttles Akers. She married Leo A. Knox on March 10, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri and he preceded her in death on January 25, 1984.
She is survived by three sons, Lyle Eugene (wife, Kristina) Knox of Murrayville, Lynn Ray (wife, Candy) Knox of Mattoon, and Larry Dale Knox; six grandsons, eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale (wife, Joyce) Akers of Pittsfield; and one sister, Ruth (husband, Lavon) Lavieu of Pleasant Hill. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Bud Akers, Ronald Akers (surviving wife Freda of New Salem,) Donald Akers (surviving wife Millie of Pittsfield,) and Hubert Akers (surviving wife Donnie of Jacksonville.)
Mrs. Knox had been employed with Bound To Stay Bound Book Bindery in Jacksonville for over 20 years, prior to her retirement.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the World Trade Center Relief Fund.

Mary W. Koster (Wagener)
Mary W. Koster, 92, of Carrollton died at 5:20 A.M. Sat. July 14, 2001 at
Reisch Memorial Nursing Home in Carrollton.
Born in Carrollton on Dec. 31, 1908 she was the daughter of the late
Frank and Sarah Kaiser Wagener.
On Feb. 7, 1946 she married Theodore Koster in Carrollton and he
preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1992.
Surviving are 2 sisters: Florence Baker of Green field and Margaret
Koster of Belleville and a brother Clem Wagener of Carrollton. Several
nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by a sister Louise Schild and a brother Frank
J. Wagener.
Mrs. Koster was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton,
the Altar Society of the Church, and the Catholic Daughters of America.
Mrs. Koster and her late husband owned the land where the Koster
Archaeological Site was located.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Monday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Carrollton. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at
10 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Carrollton with burial in the church
cemetery. Memorials are mentioned to the Reisch Memorial Nursing Home,
the church or the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Janet L. Lagergren (Irlam)
Janet L. Lagergren, 42, of Murrayville died of natural causes early Monday morning, June 11, 2001 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. She was born on July 12, 1958 in Murrayville the daughter of Thomas W. and Alma M. Megginson Irlam. She married Scott G. Lagergren on July 16, 1983 in Woodson and he survives.
She is also survived by two sons, Greg and Matthew, and two daughters, Caitie and Amy, all at home; four brothers, Charles William “Bill” (wife, Janet Sue) Irlam, Donald (wife, Julie) Irlam, and Robert (wife, Linda) Irlam, all of Murrayville and Larry (wife, Janet) Irlam of Jacksonville; three sisters, Carol (husband, Tim) Reeves of Dongola, Mary (husband, Jon) Shepherd of Friendswood, Texas and Karen (husband, Jerry) Meado of Jacksonville; her step mother, Helene Irlam of Jacksonville; two step-brothers, Ross (wife, Jan) Irlam and J. David (wife, Jean) Irlam, both of Springfield; two step-sisters, Susan (husband, Mike) Srbljan of Springfield and Cathy (husband, Bill) Brant of Boulder, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet began her employment with The Farmers State Bank and Trust Company in 1981. She worked in the teller and customer service areas of the bank until 1991. In 1991, she was transferred to the Electronic Data Processing area and continued in that department as the Data Processing Coordinator. In this position she was involved with insuring that the bank’s computer systems were functioning properly to meet the needs of the customers and her fellow employees. Most recently Janet was highly involved in the introduction of the bank’s Internet banking product. Janet was to receive her 20-year service award at the Annual Employment Recognition Breakfast this July.
Janet was had served on the board of the Educational Day Care Center in Jacksonville for 9 ˝ years, serving two consecutive terms as President and two as Treasurer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 15, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. Friends may call after 12 Noon on Thursday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Lagergren Children Education Fund.

Mr. Donald E. Lakin
Donald E. Lakin, 81, of Murrayville died late Sunday evening, September 9, 2001 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield. He was born November 27, 1919 in White Hall the son of George Allen and Marie DeShasier Lakin. He married Betty Ross on October 27, 1945 in White Hall and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Eric (wife, Christina) Lakin and Steve (wife, Mary Jo) Lakin both of Murrayville, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and one sister, Abbie (husband, Don) Templin-Smith of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by one son , George Eugene and two sisters, Marcella Lakin and Betty Jane Thiebaud.
Mr. Lakin lived in Murrayville for 54 years and in 1947, opened the first locker plant in that area known as Murrayville Locker Service, which he operated until 1980. He also operated locker plants in White Hall, Roodhouse, Winchester, Chapin and Jacksonville. He served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant during World War II and was in Medical Supplies in the European Theater. Mr. Lakin was a charter member and chairman of the Murrayville-Woodson Water Commission and served on that commission for 30 years. He was a Past Master of the Murrayville Masonic Lodge, AF & AM, a member of the Springfield Consistory and the Ansar Shrine, and Past Commander of the Murrayville Legion Post #311.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Murrayville United Methodist Church with burial at White Hall Cemetery. The remains will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Friends may call at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Masonic rites will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Murrayville-Woodson EMT Building Fund.

Mrs. Emma Ruth Lamb (Stahulak)
Emma Ruth Lamb, 74, of Springfield died Wednesday morning, January 17, 2001 at her daughter’s residence in Jacksonville.
She was born on February 28, 1926 in Taylorville, the daughter of William and Margaret Parr Stahulak.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenna Havlin of Jacksonville; two brothers, John (wife, Delpha) Stahulak of Taylorville and Norman Stahulak of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and four sisters, Helen (husband, William) Boys and Theresa (husband, Roger) Logan both of Springfield, Rena (husband, Ed) Thompkins of Naples, Florida and Dorothy (husband, John) Beydler of Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by one brother, James Stahulak.
Mrs. Lamb had been employed at Sangamo Electric Company for 27 years. She retired from Memorial Medical Center in October, 1997 after 17 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2001 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial in Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Friday. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Central Illinois.

Mr. Jackie Hugh Landreth
Jackie Hugh Landreth, age 69 of Roodhouse, died Monday afternoon,
September 24, 2001 at the White Hall Multi Care Center. He was born May
24, 1932 in Roodhouse, the son of Floyd Hugh and Iva Lucille Wyatt
Landreth.
He is survived by three sisters; Evelyn Garst (husband Melvin), of
Girard; Barbara Ellen Walton (husband Richard) of Beardstown; and
Carol Jean Kemper (husband Jack) of Roodhouse. He was preceded in
death by his parents and an infant twin brother, John Henry Landreth.
Mr. Landreth was baptized at the Roodhouse Christian Church. He
graduated from Roodhouse High School, and he enjoyed writing poetry.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday,
Sept. 26, 2001 at the Fernwood Cemetery in Roodhouse. Friends may call
from 1 PM until time to go to the cemetery Wednesday at the Airsman-Hires
Funeral Home in Roodhouse.
