Bernadine Welsh Pranger
Bernadine Welsh Pranger, 83, of Winchester passed away Friday morning (August 17, 2001) at Passavant Area Hospital.
She was born May 16, 1918 in Alsey the daughter of the late John and Mary Callans Welsh.
She married Jerome “Jerry “ Pranger August 14, 1943. He preceded her in death March 3, 2000.
Also preceding her were her 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
Mrs. Pranger attended Alsey Elementary and High School. She graduated from Winchester High School in 1936 and then from Gem City Business College in Quincy in 1939.
She was employed by the Department of Public Aid and Illinois Rural Electric until her marriage. She later worked for First State Bank and CRW Frost Drug and Hardware for more than 40 years. She also worked for Big Swan Farms and Baker Pharmacy until 1983, and then for Tom Coultas Farms.
She was a member of St. Marks Church in Winchester and the Alter Society at the church.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Pranger of Winchester, 2 sons Jim (wife Donna) Pranger of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Tom (wife Nancy) Pranger of Springfield.
3 granddaughters Renata Pranger, Morgan Grover and Sally Pranger.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday (August 20, 2001) at St. Marks Church in Winchester.
Burial will be in St. Marks Cemetery.
Friends may call after 3:00 PM Sunday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester were the family will meet with friends from 4:30 until 8:00 PM.
A prayer service will be held at 4:00 PM.
Memorial contributions can be made to Scott County Nursing Center, the Visiting Nurses of West Central Illinois or to St. Marks Church.

Mr. James William Preston
Preston, 70, James William of Jacksonville died Tuesday morning, March 27, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born on October 31, 1930 in Jacksonville the son of Henry Morris and Ruby Pearl Burchell Preston. He married Edith Erlene Clark on October 4, 1955 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and she preceded him in death on December 20, 1997.
He is survived by one daughter, Sherie (husband, Bill) Dugan of Port St. John, Florida; five sons, Randy (wife, Star) Preston of Titusville, Florida, Samuel (fiance, Karie Noud) Preston of Bethalto, and Nickie (wife, Susan) Preston, Tim Preston, and William (wife, Sarah) Preston, all of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, and one sister, Elnora “Judy” Preston of Jacksonville
Mr. Preston was a steel fabricator at Birdco Fabricators. Prior to joining Birdco, Mr. Preston had been a bricklayer in the Jacksonville area for many years. He attended First Baptist Church in Jacksonville and enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family. The Williamson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lura Mae Price (Wilhilmy)
Lura Mae Price , 85, of Carrollton was pronounced dead on Wed. at 6 A.M.
at her residence.
Born in Carrollton on Nov. 28, 1916 she was the daughter of the late Edward “Jake” And
Lillian Drumh Wilhilmy.
On March 31, 1931 she married Arthur Price in Alton and he preceded
her in death in May of 1978. Surviving are 8 daughters: Evelyn Dale of
Roodhouse, Fanny McCormick of Bowling Green , Mo., Connie James of
Carrollton, Ruth Ann Henrickson of Clover, S.Carolina, Helen Chapman of
Carrollton, Leta Kelly of Augusta, Ga., Betty Pennington of Jerseyville and
Karen Niffen of Maysville, Ark. There are 2 sons: Arthur and Edward Price
both of Jacksonville, 50 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 daughters: Margie Inman,
Kate Newingham and Stella Rice, 1 sons: Walter David, 2 grandsons, 3 great
grandchildren, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.
Graveside rites will be conducted on Friday at 2:30 P.M. at the Carter
Cemetery near Carrollton. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton is in
charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Anabel Priepot (Hardy)
Anabel Priepot, age 76, of Winchester, Ill. died early Sunday morning (January 21, 2001) at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill..
She was born January 28, 1924 in Winchester, Ill. daughter of the late Murl and Permelia Norman Hardy.
Surviving are two sons, James E. Priepot and wife Nancy of Chatham and Steven M. Priepot and wife Sharon of Winchester, Ill.; a companion, Weldon Andell of Winchester, Ill.; four grandchildren, James G. Priepot of Chicago, Ill., Joseph W. Priepot of Springfield, Ill., and Allison M. Priepot and Jonathan R. Priepot both of Jacksonville, Ill.; four step-grandchildren, Kristi Dossett and Kim Nehrt both of Springfield, Ill., Theresa Thompson of Chicago, Ill. and Clint Daniels of Newark, New Jersey; and three step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Anabel received her degree in Home Economics from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill. in 1946. She worked for several years as a Home Economics teacher in area schools. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winchester, Ill. and enjoyed her family and friends, gardening, fishing and her beloved pets.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday (January 23, 2001) at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester, Ill.. Burial will be in Winchester City Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with family meeting friends from 6-8 p.m.. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the First Christian Church in Winchester, Ill.

Mrs. Jean Ann Woolverton Primrose
Jean Ann Woolverton Primrose, 62, of Waverly died Sunday evening, May 20, 2001 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton. She was born November 15, 1938 in Tuscola the daughter of Montelle and Edith Harshbarger Woolverton.
She is survived by one daughter, Pamela S. (husband, Ashley) Redd of South Jacksonville; 2 granddaughters; 2 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jane (husband, Robert) Bergschneider of Alexander, and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Primrose graduated from Jacksonville High School. She was a local area artist and was very well known and loved by the community. She taught art classes at her own studio near Waverly, Lincoln Land Community College and Bea’s Painting Nook. Her paintings were displayed in local businesses and banks as well as the Strawn Art Gallery and MacMurray College. She had been commissioned to paint portraits of several MacMurray College presidents. Ms. Primrose was once featured in Outdoor Illinois Magazine.
Ms. Primrose was an avid photographer and a member of the National Wildlife Federation, Turkey Federation, and the Illinois Lama Association, for which she volunteered her time and donated her paintings and photographs.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at the Williamson Funeral Home. The family will meet friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the Jean Ann Primrose Art Fund, which is being established to benefit art and music students at local schools.

John Dana Pringle
John Dana Pringle, 59, of Winchester, formerly of Desoto, Texas passed away Sunday afternoon (May 6, 2001) at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield.
He was born April 25, 1942 in Oil City, Pennsylvania the son of the late Dana M. and Jean Brown Pringle.
He married Mitzie Wetzel September 12, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Mr. Pringle was a graduate of Oil City High School. He was employed with Eckert Drug Company in Dallas, Texas until his retirement in 1999. He was an active volunteer in the cancer center at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas. He was a member of St. Ann Episcopal Church in Desoto where he a Lay Minister involved in all aspects of the church. Currently he was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Jacksonville.
Survivors include his wife Mitzie at home, a son Christopher L. (wife Laurie) Pringle, daughters Cheryl (husband George) Mefford of Winchester, Dianne (husband Lynn) Fish of North Pole, Alaska and Shirley (husband Rusty) Hensley of Harrisville, Pennsylvania. Penny (husband Pete) Voytko)6 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
Preceding him in death were his 3 sisters and a grandson Geoy Mefford in 1998.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday (May 9, 2001) in the Bloomfield Cemetery northwest of Winchester.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
The Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Donna L. Pruett (Smith)
Donna L. Pruett, 49, of Jacksonville died Thursday morning, October 11, 2001 at her residence. She was born November 16, 1951 in Jacksonville the daughter of Donald and Joan Kitchen Smith. She married Donnie Pruett July 27, 1996 in Jacksonville and he survives.
She is also survived by one son, Travis (wife, Cathy) Copley of Jacksonville; three daughters, Teresa (husband, Grover) Pruett of Meredosia, Shawna (husband, Brian) Nolting and Stacey (husband, Bill) Gaines, both of Jacksonville; twelve grandchildren; her father Donald (wife, Maggie) Smith of Port Neches, Texas; one brother, Clinton (wife, Linda) Smith of Jacksonville; and one sister, Cindy Jackson of Concord. She was preceded in death by her mother and one granddaughter.
Mrs. Pruett was a Licensed Practical Nurse and had worked at Barton W. Stone Christian Home and Prairie Village in Jacksonville. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville and enjoyed collecting angels and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at East Cemetery in Jacksonville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family.

Ms. Virginia Estelene Pruiett
Virginia Estelene Pruiett, age 80, of White Hall, died Tuesday
evening, Feb. 6, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born July 3, 1920 in Walkerville, the daughter of Cecil and
Mae Garrison Pruiett.
She is survived by two sisters, Ferna Mae (husband, Harold) Snyder
of White Hall and Audrey June Tish of Ft. Meyers, Florida; four half
brothers, Cecil Leroy Pruiett of Claradon, Iowa; Vernon Wayne Pruiett of
Missouri; George Avery Pruiett of Roodhouse and Ronald Adrian Pruiett of
White Hall; six half sisters, Sheila Hall of Michigan; Ava Hardwick of
Hillview; Oleata Davidson of Jacksonville; Stacey Kunkle of
Jacksonville; Mabel Anita Atkinson of Arkansas and Annette McFarlane of
White Hall; She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Cecil
Adrian Pruiett; two sisters, Eileen Hardwick and Dorothy Wilson and four
brothers and sisters in infancy.
Ms. Pruiett was a sales clerk at Stix-Baer and Fuller in St. Louis for
many years. She then moved to Forrest Lake, Minnesota where she worked
at Famous-Barr and helped care for her sister. She was a member of the
Walkerville Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 at the
Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial in the Walkerville
Cemetery in Walkerville. Friends may call one hour prior to services
Friday at the funeral home.

Mary L. Pruitt (Dale)
Mary L. Pruitt, 85, of Eldred died at 5:20 A.M. on Friday Oct. 19, 2001 at
the White Hall Multicare Center in White Hall.
Born in Walkerville on Jan. 20, 1916 she was the daughter of the late John
and Mabel Willis Dale.
She married Ishmael R. Pruitt on Jan. 5, 1933 in Carrollton and he
preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1996.
Surviving are a daughter : Mrs. Dick “Ruth Ann” Hansen of Ellisville,
Mo., 2 sons: Bob (wife Joan) Pruitt of Eldred and Dick (wife Marlene) Pruitt
of Loveland, Colo. There are 9 grandchildren,20 great-grandchildren and 1
step great-great grandchild. 3 half brothers: Leon Pfleger of Eldred, Dale
Pfleger of Alton and Gary Pfleger of Carrollton and a half sister Margaret
Gansz of White Hall. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister Ruth Eileen Dale and an infant
brother John Dale and 4 other brothers: Clarence, James, Howard and
George Dale.
Mrs. Pruitt was owner operator of Pruitt’s Red and White Grocery in
Eldred for 18 years. She also worked for several local businessmen.
She attended the Eldred Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from Noon until service time at 2 P.M. on Monday at
the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial will follow in the
Eldred Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the
Church or a charity of one’s choice.

Mr. Marion Eugene "Gene" Pruitt
Marion Eugene Pruitt, 91, of Jacksonville died early Sunday morning, July 22, 2001 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born on March 7, 1910 in White Hall the son of Joseph and Clara Book Pruitt. He married Della Carlene Watson on January 26, 1932 in White Hall and she preceded him in death on March 11, 1987. He married Dortha E. Massey on July 19, 1990 in Jacksonville and she survives.
Mr. Pruitt is also survived by his sister-in-law, Betty (husband, Bill) May of Jacksonville, whom he raised; one brother, Floyd Pruitt of Tiskilwa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Pruitt had been employed at Mobil Chemical prior to retirement. He had also been a real estate agent with Franklin Realty and Regent Realty. Mr. Pruitt served in the United States Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a member of the Harmony Lodge #3, A.F.& A.M., Consistory, and Scottish Rite.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at White Hall Cemetery in White Hall. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Mr. Clarence Pryor
Clarence Pryor, age 84, of El Dara, Ill. died 5 a.m. Friday (October 12, 2001) at the Barry Community Care Center in Barry, Ill..
He was born February 20, 1917 in Kinderhook, Ill. son of the late William Ellis and Rebecca Short Pryor.
He married Ethel Robinson on November 3, 1939 in Palmyra, Mo. and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Pat Chapman and husband John of Waukesha, Wis., Toni Salz and husband Robert of Erie, Colorado; one son, Bill Pryor and wife Ann of Huntersville, North Carolina; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lois Norris; three brothers, Lester Pryor, Dale Pryor, and Lee Pryor.
Mr. Pryor was a graduate of Barry High School in Barry, Ill. and drove a school bus for the school district for many years. He was a retired farmer, farming in Derry Township, Pike County, Ill. for several years. He was a member of the El Dara United Methodist Church and was an avid hunter and loved his dogs.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday (October 14, 2001) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. with Rev. David Schultz officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pike County Animal Shelter or to the Blessing Hospice of Pike County both c/o the funeral home.
